New Austrian T-mobile Rom - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I've downloaded to install the new rom file from the austrian t-mobile's webpage onto my mdaIII but when I started the program I was shocked.
The program said that it will "upgrade" my device to
CE Image version was 1.06.01
Extended Image Version 1.06.138
Radio Image Version 1.00.00
My original device without any rom upgrade had later versions. Did anyone try it to see whether it is just an error on the program's side and that maybe the device shows other version numbers once installed?

Trying to Update SX66: Error 120: Country ID Error XHWOF568-

I downloaded the ROM Update from the Siemens Website and tried to update my new SX66 (Just purchased from Cingular on the 10th, on an AT&T plan and SIM card still)
When I ran the update I received the Error:
"Error 120: Country ID Error XHWOF568-XHWOF568-50-50-50. The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your device. Please check the Vendor Website and download the correct ROM update"
I contacted Siemens & they replied with: "Version 1.14.110 is the original version, and 1.33.110 is the updated version for Cingular customers.
If your version is 1.32.115, then you have the AT&T variant and your SX66 already has the latest ROM version installed. If you have any other version that is not listed and you get this error, then the update does not pertain to your version of phone."
So what does the error really mean? I've seen the Fix to add the line to the RUU.conf file, but unsure as to what the error really is telling me.
So do I have an Old phone? Should I return it and get a Cingular Plan Phone? Others at my office have the Cingular Plan/SIM SX66 and can install the 1.33.110 ROM with no issues...
If I install the 1.40.00 ROM will it work with my AT&T variant?
I'm still under my 30 days with Cingular to return the phone.
Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I have been to the wiki.xda-developers.com website and have seen the work around for this.
I'm curious as to the ramifications of changing the Country ID if I have issues with the phone in the future if/when I change to a Cingular SIM/Plan
Thanks,

The work arounds of the Country code ID and Carrier ID are only to insure that you can flash your device with a rom that is not from your carrier.
The Idea of the carriers is not to produce an Upgrade of a rom and let other non same carriers users flash that. (well thats there idea)
This we don't like as most carriers don't provide the upgrades or if they do not in a language that you want them.
----> Hence the tool that FIXES that small issue.
The CE and radio rom is the same across all version,
Its the EXT rom that has the meat in it thus it needs to be cooked.
If you have issues with your device that you can't solve with a rom upgrade or cooking then you need to be able to flash the Providers rom back onto it.
This gives the Techys in the shop the warm feeling that the phone has not been messed with.
I have a baked rom, all three components are from different sources, it was shipped in Germany in German, is now WWE Rom and has swiss Sim.
If I need to take it back to Geramany I flash a T-mobile upgrqade on it and I am off.
Hope this helps

T-Mobile USA Official RUU update (stock ROM)

http://www.htcamerica.net/support/MDA_soft_updates.htm
Someone posted the Cingular ROM, so here's the T-Mobile ROM. No more having to restore from your SD card!

NOTE: This is listed as "T-Mobile MDA Launch SW 1.8.10.2 WWE"
Aren't we up to 2.17? Or is the number scheme different??
No, 2.17 is not officially released by T-Mobile. This is the stock ROM that was on it from the factory. Previously, this has been unreleased.
Slight clarification... The link in this thread is for the original (and at the time of this post, only) ROM from T-Mobile USA. It is different from the ROMs for T-Mobile Germany/Europe/etc.
No clarification needed. The topic says it's the T-Mobile USA official stock ROM.
So is this the same as me backing up the Rom with awizard?
loading this would turn my MDA back to how it was when i first got it from Tmobile USA?
Thanks
Laura
Exactly! Except when it's CID unlocked, it will always be CID unlocked.

T-Mobile MDA III ROM over SPV2000???

Hi,
I have recently upgraded my SPV M2000 to the M5000 and have donated (for a small sum), my old M2000 to my mother-in-law.
I was wondering, if I could flash the orange branded phone as it is with a t-mobile or generic flash.
I have a few reasons for this, mainly the orange software that is bundled is causing all sorts of problems with T-mobile, and also, that each time you reset the phone, it loads them all back on!
The current information on the device is;
Operator Version : 5.31.1.124
ROM Version : 1.31.00 WWE
ROM Date : 12/13/04
Radio Version : 1.06.02
Protocol Version : 1337.38
ExtROM Version : 1.31.124 WWE
Thanks in advance.
Hi
You need to spend some time in wiki and the ext rom kitchen to understand the branding (its the EXT rom that has all of that).
So if you dont wont to reload everything when you hard reset then you need to flush the ext rom or only have what you need in it. We call it cooking.

[Question] - N00b's questions about ROM upgrading

Hello, I have just got a T-Mobile MDA from a friend, and I'm eager to hack it up
Btw, I'm pretty new about this so I have some questions, if you have time plz share some information or point me to the suitable links
Here is my MDA's information:
My MDA boot up screen reports:
Code:
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
GSM 1.12.10.0
OS 1.5.4.2
Device Information reports:
Code:
ROM version 1.5.4.2 WWE
ROM date 11/8/05
Radio version 01.12.10
Protocol version 4.3.13.23
So, erm, I guess it uses pretty old ROM, eh?
I'm using it with my local service provider, I think it has been SIM unlocked.
Now, onto the questions:
1. I want to upgrade it to the newest possible ROM, but I don't know if its CID has been unlocked or not, is there any way to check this?
2. What is the newest ROM that usable by this baby? I read somewhere on this forums that the 2.24 ROM is the newest avaiable, is that right?
3. What is AKU? What's the benefit of AKU 2.3?
4. How to backup the old ROM in order to restore it in case something awful happen?
PS: The MDA boot screen has been modded, because the splash screen displays my friend name with some babe pics lol, I wanna get rid of that.
Seriously, the best advice anyone can give you is:
Read the fourms for a week before you download anything or attempt to flash your Rom.
In 1 week if you have not found or (more importantly) don't completely understand the answers to these questions then don't do it with software from here.
Instead use only official issued Rom updates from your carrier as they will not void the warranty on your device (although technically your friend has already done this by replacing the splash screens).
The information is here but you can seriously F-up your phone (just search for posts referring to "Brick") if you don't understand what you are doing.
If you are concerned about keeping warranty in place then get the latest avaliable Rom from your carrier and flash your phone with it. Just call customer support and give them the info you posted here (leaving out the detail about the splash screens). They will direct you to the website where you can download their files and even walk you through the process. Also they won't help you CID Unlock the device but many carriers will provide SIM unlock codes upon request.
Thanks for your advice, I decided to read around and managed to backup my ROM and flash another one on it.
Now the bootup screen reads:
Code:
IPL 2.24
SPL 2.24
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.24.10.1
And Device Information reads:
Code:
ROM version 2.24.10.1 WWE
ROM date 4/27/06
Radio version 02.25.11
Protocol version 4.1.13.12
[b]ExtROM version 2.24.10.101[/b]
There's another new line "ExtROM"
So, I have known how to backup/restore ROM, verify the CID/SIM (un)lock status, and I have flashed the 2.24 TEST ROM for TMo (it shows TEST VERSION NOT FOR RESALE on splash screen)
It boots up faster, with new stuff from original TMo ROM I guess, gotta try it out...

DOWNGRADE

hello there...
i'm new here...
i want to downgrade my BA from helmi wm6 Pro to wm 2003 se...
like the original and default OS...
i wonder where could i download it...
can you help me...
you can download your shipped rom, either at your carrrier's site, or, more comfortably, at -=xplode's shipped rom archive=-. you can find more informations on how to downgrade are to be found -=here=-. remember, even if your shipped rom comes as a simple exe file and seems to have downgraded automatically in the past, your device is WWE now and it lost its original name, like 9090, mdaIII or xdaIIs to BlueAngel, meaning, you need to induce the bootloader mode manually and use a modified RUU to bypass country ID, model ID... error. the RUU can be found -=here=-.
