Hello,
I would like to share upgrade idea & howtos with buddies using closely similar BA as mine, that is SPV M2000 Orange (have a french Orange subscription), but UK buddies too !
I use extensively IP phone in wireless context, travelling a lot, so, using a global roaming ISP. This allows to call for almost free.
I work on enhancing Radio/BT capabilities now, so perhaps we could share on that specific goal.
XTEN PRO ppc is the IP phone I use:; it works well, but unable at present time to use my Jabra 250 BT with it. This one is kinda "captured" by the SIM telephone app, working great, but this is a clear audio limitation of my current BT driver/version.
Welcome to share & enhancement !

Orange SPV M2000 - lets share knowledge
Hi,
I am a UK user of the M2000. Have you upgraded your M2000 to any recent ROM version / bluetooth etc...?
SN
Hello,
not yet. Will upgrade to 1.4 FRE soon. I got it from an excellent french XDA forum, this upgrade tested & widely used.
(It's boring backing up data!)
My concern was mre about BT quality, unable to use my BT headset with any other app than the GSM phone.
were did you get it????

Hi everyone,
A quick question -- has anyone with a UK SPV M2000 successfully upgraded to the latest Imate PDA2K rom? If so, could you please post step by step instructions of how you did it?
Also, does the upgrade clear the Orange UK extended rom and replace it with the Imate extended rom?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Nick
Orange SPV M2000
Hello mate,
It seems that we SPV M2000 are underlings in this forum, nobody seems interested in the new users.
I have unlocked the Extended Rom of my M2000 and I have installed the fax software from the Imate, and it works. I do not think that there is anything else that could be interesting there.
Also I upgraded the BT software to build 3500 which seems to have sorted out the licence and memory problems.
If you learn anything could you look out for me and let me know?
Re: Orange SPV M2000
I have just got the SPV M2000 and have been having problems with bluetooth and Jabra SP100, I think I need the BT upgrade or patch.
I'm new to the pocketPC world and rom patches etc.
jrmgolem, I would like to get the fax software installed too and the BT patch, but there is so much information on the forum, it's difficult for a newby to figure out where to start
Would be greateful if you could list the steps that you went through to do your upgrade
Thanks in advance.

No problem, if you send me you email I will send you the files. All you have to do is to copy the files into the temp directory in your M2000 and tap them, then do a soft reboot and it should then be updated.
You will need the unlocker as well, then the EXT ROM Files. They are here somewhere so I will find the url and send it.
I'd love to have it too
sent yo a private message..
thanks

Hi guys,
Just wondering if either of you could help me out...
I've not got an M2000 yet. Long story...i intend to use my work Voda SIM with an M2000 that a friend who is an Orange dealer has offered me in exchange for a few beers should i want one 8)
A little obvious but just to make sure, I presume that once unlocked, a Voda sim in the M2000 poses no problems :?:
Assuming it works with a Voda SIM, i'm also guessing the M2000 will be heavily customised to Orange. If i flash with an i-mate rom, will that get rid of the Orange customisations and provide a more generic software?
If i need a reflash, until i get the unit i've no idea what versions etc the hardware will be (or even how to find out). Can anybody offer an idiot guide of what to look for and how to flash the unit??
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance 8)

HI All,
I've had my O2 XDA iis now for about 2 months and i'm having a few problems with the Bluetooth on the device.
I'm currently running 1.12.62.wwe
and version 1.0.0 Build 1900 of Bt-PPC/PE
Does anyone know if there is software upgrade to fix the Bluetooth connectivity problems, and when bluetooth is activited it kees turning my screen on and scanning.
Any help would be appreciated.
Software Ugrade
By the way does anyone know if O2 Uk have a site where updates can get downloaded or if there is a telephone number i can contact to receive software udates - regular support don't seem to be very helpful.
Cheers
XDA2s BT Connectivity issues (Launch build) how to upgrade
Like another post today, I too have bluetooth connectivity issues with initial build rom 1.12.62.wwe extROM 1.12.178 WWE Radio 1.02.00
I can only get headset profile to connect 1st time after HARD reboot, NMEA GPS bluetooth is not a problem (Both from Parrot CK3300 car kit)
Ideally I would also like to pipe the XDA audio from SATNAV app (tomtom) to the CK3300 over the car speakers too (Like headset profile) ???
Anybody able to point me in the right direction please?
I see other posts giving BT updates, which I have downloaded, but am unsure how to apply these... Is there a "noddy" guide to upgrading the XDA2s (This example is unlocked running on T-Mobile ond Orange without GPRS access), and how do I get later ROM versions etc.
Thanks, BID

Do a search for O2 Asia XDAIIs Bluetooth patch - there's one there that might help you.
As far as O2 support goes - www.02.co.uk/xda - however there is NOTHING in the way of updated files for the XDA IIs, there are some for the XDA II but please be aware that these are NOT compatible.
See the thread in the Blue Angel forum regarding Finally getting a response from O2.

Hi there everyone
I was speaking with a friend, and he was telling me to install the XDA2s ROM, on my i-Mate PDA2K. The reason for my interest, is that my Bluetooth headset, works for a little while, then it sort of drops out.
Also, I have had problems with stability, would it be worth upgrading the PDA2K Firmware to the XDA IIs firmware, and how would I go about doing it.
or is it just better to upgrade to the 1.13 Radio ROM Version.
Please help me if you can, thanx
Neil Spenta
Hi Neil
The ROMs are available on the wiki site here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
You will need to use the MA_Update utility to get around your device being from a different operator (I-mate) than the ROM you want to load (o2)
I have the 1.40 / 176 ROM on my xdaIIs and have the exact same issues as you with BT (all else is pretty good) and have been searching for a ROM that has better BT reliability s.o I can use my BT headset and GPS set up
I have been corresponding with a user that is using the O2 Asia 1.40 / 9xx ROM on their xdaIIs. They report good bluetooth relaibility with the only issue being some static when the device is not in a direct line of site with the BT headset. They in the other hand have experienecd some GPRS dissconnection problems when using this ROM in conjunction with the 1.13 Radio stack....
We believe that the best all around combo of functionality and stability right now is possibly the O2 Asia 1.40 /9xx with the 1.12 Radio. They will be running some tests this weekend to confirm. I'll post here with the findings
Regards
Chris
hi
hi there thanx for the reply,
hmm, I will wait, as im in no rush, but i dont really wanna go back to the static issue I had with my pda2k and headset
Sorry for asking such fundamental questions but i am new to this site...
I have a Orange SPV M2000 (Blue Angel)
Can I ugrade the rom on this, what will the upgraded rom give me that i dont already have and how do i do this ?
I have looked at the rom pages and can not seam to find an Orange rom, does this matter ?
Sorry if these are basic questions, thank you for your time.
I also have a m2000, was wondering if it would be ok to install the new 1.4 asia O2 rom???
Mainly want it for WMP10 due to the streaming video etc.
Have red some mixed reports about the new rom, is it actually better than 1.31???
ive upgraded my m2000 using the wiki
im basically running the imate roms as im unsure on how to play with the extended rom.
everything went fine without a hitch!
I have an orange SPV M2000, I have successfully upgraded to Rom 1.40 with Radio Rom 1.13
I am a bit of an old hand doing this as i have had a pocket pc since the inception of a ipaq 3630 many moons ago.
What you ask do you get with the updates? well the main reason for upgrading is the increased reliability. far less soft reboots due to lockups.
and a nicer interface with WM10 especially since i have a media center PC and i can automatically synch my recorded TV to the device
anyone needs help with upgrade you can msn me at stuart b ***NOSPAM***@broadbandtap.co.uk
I can't download MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP ?????
HELP?
OK, I'm waiting on my XDA IIs (Blue Angel) arriving tomorrow and have a few questions before I dive right in!
(Before I go any further please note that I have spent the last few days delving into the forum and wiki on this site but just need some clarification.)
1. Can I rebrand an O2 XDA IIs to Vodafone VPx/VP 1620 (i.e change ROMs)?
2. If yes, how, and if not can I use all my Vodafone service (GPRS etc) on an O2 braded phone?
3. I have the latest ROM downloaded from O2 just in case mine needs it on arrival, will this enable the pairing to two BT devices (Headset/GPS) or will I need to update the BT stack as per the other 3500/3900 thread?
4. Can I expect any issues with Tomtom 5, or should this work OK if I don't start playing with the ROMs too much!
Thanks in advance for any advice, and I'm looking forward to trying WM5 once I pluck up the courage
Moved to BA section from general
1) Your rom has 3 parts (which you know since you read wiki) the branding is in the extrom. You want the phone to act like a BA from a different carrier then use that extrom.
2) By reading 1 and reading cooking in the extrom kitchen on wiki
3) Bt is a mess and part of the CE rom, if you have the latest rom you will have the latest BT Stack. As for pairing well have fun. There is enough info on the site to confuse you.
4) Tom Tom works on a BA as per there site.
Thanks for that... I think
So, CE ROM as standard, use Voda ExtROM for their branding, and hope for the best with BT
Sound about right?
Better get into the 'kitchen' then, eh!
