Hi
I must give back my mda3 to my provider to repair on warranty. Arrow pad, down key isn't working. And second worse. My green key perform hard reset. First i was thinking it was bug of wm5, but not it wasn't. I think it is hardware issue. It is annoying when you want to answer a call and you perform a hard reset.
And questions now.
I've got roms from my provider. But when installing wm5 i've readed that there is doing something with extrom. I've formatted it back to 16mb, and all seems to be like factory defaults.
So if in service when they connect phone to PC, they can found i have voided warranty ??
regards
no it shouldn't be a problem, and my down key is broken too i just havn't had the time to send it in to get it fixed.
Ufff.
The broken don key isn't really a problem. But hard restting answer key IS. It hard reset even if phone is off and button lock is enabled in settings, so it must a be some kind of short circuit i think.
regards
I think that they will update your software on the phone, and think that they will notice that your extended rom password : eGnAeUlB is wiped out, so you broke your warranty.
I think that they let you pay for repairing your device. 8)
Hmmm
Is there possibility to put back on that password ?
NO!
just play the dumb customer and be like "uhh, all i did was use the updates on your site" (as you know they read these forums) you should be all good don't even sweat it.....then while they have it just tell them to install all the latest stuff....
I've found in warranty that they do not repair (under warranty) things that happened due to install third party software, so changing roms is not directly prohibitted but that says they will not repair damages that can be done upgrading roms from other provider.
And i think my problems have nothing to do with soft. I t hard reset in any circumastences. Even when i'm in config screen (after hard reset) pushing green button hard resets.
I think it is software independent.
I'll give it to service, and surely tell for few days, whats going on.
Today i'm gonna play stupid customer.
wish me luck
regards

Hi all... just curious if anyone has had this problem or has any advice for me:
Today out of nowhere my TyTN II starts acting really funky. When I push the "power" button on the right hand side, it lights up the phone, pulls up the phone application and some letters begin appearing one-at-a-time where the currently dialing number usually shows up (E, D, F, and then C if it makes any difference). It will also light up and do this intermittently when the phone is not being used. The notes recorder app also came up and began recording until I unmapped that application from the 6th button in the settings. In addition, all of the slide out keyboard buttons and the soft-keys themselves (save for the middle button) are completely non-responsive. Using the stylus on-screen works fine. So far a soft reset and a hard reset (always wonderful away from home) hasn't alleviated the issue.
I've contacted HTC support, and they gave me the warranty repair number (of course this crap always happens on a weekend). It sure sounds like a hardware failure to me, but I just thought I'd throw it out to the geeks on here...
I'll buy it for 100 dollars. email me: [email protected]
or you could try doing a master reset on the phone or flashing it with a rom..
hopefully you have hard spl on your phone
huh? huh? and huh?
Oh and if anyone out there who isn't inclined to be a jerk, could you give me some insight into what to expect from HTC service and repair? Do you agree that this is a hardware issue and most likely not a corrupted ROM?
Its not master reset its hard reset. What he is saying is to reset everything and it should work. Look at the Wiki for help. We aren't gonna spoon feed you answers that are searchable, but if they aren't specifically answered in some source then we will help which is 50% of the time.

did any of you guys even read his post?

I said to do it again then read the wiki if it doesn't work. 2nd time should be the charm.
If not use a different rom .
This happened to my up button I forgot to mention, it was the radio for me that was the problem so try a different radio also.
Did you find the answer?
Hello Mate,
I've got the very same issue, thought it may have been a virus at first, but after loading up a new rom the problem still exists, I'm reckoning the phone is less than useless now
i had this type of problem for quite some amount of time & that too randomly. then i found that a key lock feature in pocketmusic was interfering and causing it. similarly, i feel any other apps that may use/ be used to remap keys may cause this issue.
ofc, since u have done a hard reset, this may not really apply to u. but then which rom & radio are u using anyways?
Hey... just an update. I sent the device back to HTC in Houston with an RMA. Communication with the repair center was fairly poor. I had no idea the phone was on it's way back to me until it showed up at my door today. No information in the box, but I wasn't charged for any repair and everything works as normal at this time. The device went through the "first time" setup when powered on. Still no idea what caused the problem or what exactly they did. R:...12.32, D:1.56.0 (same as before I'm pretty sure).
axeman: Never had pocketmusic on this (AFAIK), but if it was due to some other software re-mapping the keys, wouldn't it sort itself out with a hard reset? I could be wrong. This seems more like a hardware failure to me.
devil's advocate: Try contacting the HTC repair center in your country. They gave me an RMA without any trouble and their turnaround was quick (although I would have appreciated some notification that it was fixed and back on it's way). I got my TyTN II within a few weeks of it coming out, so I'd assume yours is under warranty still as well. I wouldn't chalk it up as worthless quite yet, even (dare I say) still worth more than $100. (Suck my balls, gqstatus0685 )
I live in Australia, and have a Telstra branded Diamond, although it is unlocked ( i use Optus Sim card) anyways i was hoping to install unbranded cooked rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422417
I didn't know I needed to install HardSPL, i tried but it failed so i continued on (i know I'm retarded) so i tried using the Diamond Unlocker.
I hit Next, Next, Next until it got to progress bar it stayed on 0% then jumped to 100% and said that my device wasn't compatible or something like that, at that point the image on the diamond faded to black screen. I This happened when i tried Hardspl but i just hit reset and it turned back on alright.....this time it didn't, it doesn't react to the power button at all, iv tried hitting the reset button, booting into boot loader even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't have one, and tried MTTY which I'm pretty sure it pointless because my diamond doesn't turn on.
Please share any knowledge or ideas you have on how i can fix my Diamond, or where i can send it to be repaired (I have no warranty with Telstra by the way)
Is my diamond bricked for life?
EDIT: In the hope that my Diamond will return to life by holding the power button, i have noticed i can still feel the vibration it usually makes when turning it on although NO DISPLAY

Thats the only problem, i have already thought of this, although i don't have proof of purchase anymore, can i still get it repaired without proof of purchase?
ANY Replies or ideas are appreciated, please HELP
I would contact them without a receipt you may have to pay for the repair
but I don't see why they should not make money of you repairing your broken device
Thanks for the reply, my question is, i bought this phone off a friend and knowing him he got it from someone else who probably has stolen it, so if i take it in for repairs and it is stolen I'm screwed....right?.....are they able to I.D a stolen device?
Thats what you get when you buy a stolen device. You'll pay it back one way another.
I guess but for $250 who wouldnt take it. I guess i should have read ALOT more instead of rushing a flash. So last question, does anyone know if its physically possible to fix the phone, if it be replacing a bit or get a technician to hardwire or something......is it possible? or am i stuck with a nice new paperweight?

I think its a case of what goes around, comes around.
Hey
I have a similar problem. But mine is bought and original and I have a receipt. Anyways, there's no way around the sending, is there? Because, I think, it'll take a lot of time and regarding the fact, that the mistake is on my side, the warranty is void, isn't it?
Hi,
today my wings suddenly gets a white screen and now every time there is a white screen on my wings..
i tried a lot of things:
- remove battery
- remove/change sim and storage card
- HardSPL and new Rom
- the go into the extended boot mode (power+camara)
- the run the hard reset (power + two soft keys)
but every time the screen is white -.-
the only thing that works is the connection to the pc. there i can discover the files on the phone..
what can i do?
mike
:s
I did have that with my Oxygen (HTC s310) a little year ago.
But this was because I accidentally drop this phone.
In a phone store they told me that the hardware inside the phone was broken :s.
After a little insurance process I bought me a Wings.
Sow, I hope for you that there is an expert on this forum who can tell you that it is a software problem, but I'm afraid that it is a hardware problem.
I should call the HTC costumer service if I where you.
If you did not drop your phone, than you can use the guarantee.
Don't forget to revert your HSPL back up and than downgrade to the original wm6 rom before sending your phone back to the factory for the guarantee.
Good luck with it.
Greets,
Niels
ok, thank you for your post..
do you know where i can find the original rom?
yow,
ftp://84.255.212.134/download/HTC/Nadgradnje/S730/RUU_Wings_HTC_WWE_1.31.405.1R_radio_sign_25.62.30.03_1.58.17.02_Ship.exe
Succes with it.
Did you have restore your HSPL?
what do you mean with restoring your HSPL?
Must I do this before override the phone with the original rom and how that works?
Thank you,
Michael
I'm not an expert with this.
What I thought was that before you send you're phone back to the factory for call on the guarantee, than you have to restore the hard SPL.
It is illegal to update you're phone with own brewed rom's. Before you can update with such illegal rom (e.g. Alcaline's rom) you have to replace the hard-SPL with another one, which is cracked. When you send your phone back to the factory they may be check the Hard SPL, if they do and you have an cracked SPL on your phone than they don't give you the guarantee.
If there is an expert on this forum who knows better, than please correct me.
ok...
i get no guarantee because i won this phone lottery.. so i have no bill...
are there any companies who can repair my phone.. or is this to much expensive?
Ow, that bad news for you.
I don't know in what country you live.
If I where you, I should google with the words: phone rapair shop / HTC repair shop / cellular repair / etc...
Than you can find out where you can bring you're phone or send it to and what it costs.
If you can't find any prices for repairing you're phone, you could always contact a suitable repair center, asking gives no obligations.
Succes with it.
btw, if I can give you a advice,
This is how I did it with my broken HTC S310 (there was also no guarantee for it):
I searched a friend who has got a good ''general liability insurance'' (if I translated that kind of insurance good :s).
I asked him for the favor if I could give him the blame for my broken phone, so that he could give it up to his insurance. We invented a story what was acceptable for the insurance.
If you do this, you have to be sure that it gives no adverse effects for you're friend on his costs for his insurance.
Maybe this could help you.
Succes
i understand... not bad idea
i will think about it.. thanks..
Hey guys,
the vibrator stopped on my phone all of a sudden, it doesn't work even when i reset the phone. i don't remember dropping it or something like that, or whether i installed something that could've caused this.

Do you still get a short buzz from it on initially booting the device? By 'reset', I'm assuming you mean you've tried a hard reset as well as soft? If so, then your next best bet would be to restore the phone back to AT&T approved config, test again and if it's still no go, then return under warranty.
If you want to replace the vibrator assembly on the phone it would mean dissassembling it which would involve removing the tamper indicator sticker on the screw head - thereby voiding any warranty. You'd also be up for the parts cost (assuming you can even find one for sale).
Hi,
I'm fairly new to the world of windows mobile and PDAs'. This website was recommended to me by a friend who has been using these types of phones a lot longer than I have.
Anyway, after buying my first windows mobile, HTC TyTn II, I used this mobile for a couple of months with its original ROM, and after a long conversation with my friend decided to flash the ROM.
It took me awhile to find a ROM I liked, eventually I did, but thats when the problems began to occur.
It is my belief that my soft reset button on the phone is either broken or possibly jammed and thus causing the phone to randomly reset (sometimes continuously sometimes at random points during the day), because of the countless times the soft reset buttin has been used, and i was just wondering whether there was a way to change the registry on my phone, or something similar, to disable my soft reset button.
I have searched the forum and read several long threads about other peoples problems with their phones soft resetting, and none of their problems sound anything like mine, their problems usually involve the phone not starting at all or getting past the OS loading screen, and my phone will do that eventually, it just soft resets at random.
Anyway, thanks anyone in advance for any help you can provide in this area.
Hixxy1991
What do you mean by soft reset button? Hole by the mini usb on downside of the device or power button on the right side, `cause Kaiser doesn`t have another button for something like that. Anyway, you can try to apply power on off function to another button (I`m not sure about that, search around forum for that), or try something with PsShutXp or XDA Shutdown (they both are free). And, of course, good luck!
The soft reset button is a switch... it's either in the on or off position. If your kaiser is randomly resetting it could be a software, battery or loose connection inside the phone issue. Could also be a bad flash or a dodgy rom. Read the stickies thoroughly and flash back to your original rom. If the reset problem still occurs then check the battery connections, etc. Poke a cocktail stick in the reset area (with battery removed), wiggle it around and see if any dirt/grime comes out.
Last resort is to open up the case using the manufacturers service manual, because getting to the reset area is a right fiddle, and not recommended if you haven't explored the guts and know your way around all the parts pretty well.
It's correct: the random reset may be due to a faulty rom/flashing problem and to a wrong battery contact...
It may be due to unstable software or to thousands of causes...
But what Hixxy1991 is saying may be a cause too...
The reset button is exactly a "button" i.e. a "monostable" switch similar to keyboard keys: it has a active "closed" position (when pressed) and a rest "open" position when unpressed.
Inside the button there is a little spring mechanism that holds the button in the rest position so that it gets closed only when you press it.
Due to the very little size of the button and to the unfrequent usage it was expected for, the spring isn't very strong so the Hixxy1991's supposition it isn't so unlikely...
Due to "phisical" cause, you can try to leave the phone over a soft cloth for a while, so it's away from vibrations, and look if it resets.
If yes, you can guess the problem isn't due to the reset button.
Even, you can check if shaking the phone drives it to reset...
I suppose there isn't any way to disable the reset button via software, as I can guess it's an hardware trap...
I'll check around if I'm wrong...
Stay tuned and, please, conduct both checks I suggested and let me know...
See You, Pino
sometimes this problem is due to a problem in the main board :s , and you won't be sure if this is the problem or not except when you try the solution posted above, one of my friends had this problem and it turned out to be what i told you, hope that flashing the rom would solve the problem getting you away from any hardware matters
thank you all
Thank you all for your advice, I have taken everything that you suggested onboard, however after trying both of ppelleg2003's checks to see if it is the hardware, and it was at this point that my mother, bless her mind so full of wisdom, decided to tell me to stop pissing around and just get in contact with HTC.
I then did exactly as I was told, sent them an email and they have asked me for the devices serial number so that they can see if the device is still under warranty, although i think its all academic now because someone sat on the device the other day and added a huge crack in the screen to my problems, so the device will have to be sent back to HTC for repair.
Once again, thank you all for your help
Hixxy1991
Sorry to hear about the damage... and it will surely not under warranty :-(
