Unforunately I choosed the first way and now I am stuck on the fact that after installing the new Lcd screen from PDASMART the screen is completely blank , even if the Qtek seems to work , lights sounds etc
There are differences between the two LCD , connector and label , I am attaching a picture hoping someone will help in finding the cause of the problem ...
I wrote a couple of mail to PDASMART but I did not receive any answer to date
Ciao !!
Anyone know where I can buy steal/etc. one of those screws on the side of the BA?

I dont know , I dont have Linux , and beside that the screen is absolutely blank ! Anyway, is an Italian QTEK 9090 from DAANGARD , if there is an alternative way to know Board Id , please let me know !javascript:emoticon('')
Very Happy
As you say is obvious the two LCD have different Sn , but as I am not an HW tech maybe someone on the Forum knows if they are compatible
The fact is that the LCD matter is quite misterious , is a piece of HW that easily breaks , and according to my knoweledge there is only one supplier shipping the part , PDASMART
What I did is buy the part from PDASMART , install it , test that it does not work , at least on my Qtek , write back to PDASMART a couple of Mail and I am still waiting for a replay !! javascript:emoticon('')
Evil or Very Mad
To be honest I have the doubt that reassenbling the LCD I could have made something incorrect , but the reassembly procedure is well described on WIKI ...
Would not be bad if we can find a reliable source of spare LCD on the web and collect some info for WIKI .

It is interesting to force the id=5 setting in Linux
and check if the device will be working properly.
Then you can simply patch the wince-relevant binaries.
BTW, can you add your model to the boardIDs wiki page ?

done !
I can work on Qtek only through PC and SOTI Pocket Controller-Professional , I am afraid to install Linux , absolutely unknown to me , in this situation .
I had to force in Wince to not execute WELCOME , which take care of screen alligment , if WELCOME execute I am stuck on trying forever to allign the screen that cannot be alligned .
The most annoying thing is that PDASMART has not replied to me yet !!!
I asked for return the LCD back to them http://www.pdasmart.com/terms.htm

anyone gone and bought an LCD to find it's the wrong model?
If so please PM me and I might buy it off you if it's the right model for me!

9090 (ITA DAANGARD) display with problem
Hi, Sorry but You're not "the one". I've the same pda (daangard sold) and similar problem in the same city.
Time to time display blocks, needs hard reset (this is what I have done but not sure it was necessary), and " I was stuck on trying forever to allign the screen that cannot be alligned- it was need half hour".
About - "I had to force in Wince to not execute WELCOME" - How did you that?
I tought to take the pda, waiting one of my neighbour (that obviously i don't like) and use the pda as a stone (two birds with one act). If you want i could "take off" the display before that 8).
How about your bluetooth range and stability?
Best regards
Sergio

I know this is an old topic, but 2 (3 with me) have/had the same problem..
Me too, I got only white screen, after I had only replaced the full housing case.. ..reunited all the parts, turned it on, and nothing, only white screen..
which was your solution? Come avete risolto?
Guys according to this Board ID and Screen ID table;
My SPV M2000 BlueAngel has 0x5 Board Id and can work with Sony LCD unit. But I had a Sony LCD unit brand new one from my previous i-mate pda2k; and device starts with a black screen. I can see energy is coming to screen but it never turns on.
Is there anyway to solve this problem?

After a while i will be able to see something on the screen, but it is extremely dim to the put where i cant use the phone outside. An error shows up right away stating that there is a microp version mismatch & to reinstall the microp firmware. Tried reinstalling the 1.93 rom, but that did not help. still the same error. Can anyone help out here, im at a total loss? Thanks Malik

Use warranty if you have. Goto a tech guy if possible. If no solution then sit down and get ready to rip it apart.
P.M me, i'll help all i can, cause i'm in the same boat, but in despair. Have no hope left so have boldness to do anything.!
Bulls eye!
microp error
This occurs when while boot diamond fails to find the correct hardware radio, wifi and Bluetooth
Well the small cable was not attached properly so i opened and attached it. Hell of a job, HTC are very compact.
And WIFI bluetoth back on.
Warn you this cable is very delicate and HTC's original manual says to replace this cable once you open your device. But where will you find a cable?!?!
And I have got the screen from ebay U.S.
Now while replacing the screen the tech guy stupid NooB forgot to take off the last fblack colored film of the display and reattached the new one over it, so now the digitizer isnt wrking properly and the new screen appears very dark.
I have to do it my self. I dont know if i will ever have my diamond back again
For display and lower keyboard panel(having buttons and breath)
You have to attach two small connectors. They are very hard to install and yes it would be better you get it done from some place.

Before you proceed, please note that I cannot be accountable/liable for any damage caused to your phone. This is only a guide!*
THIS TUTORIAL IS ONLY FOR HTC TOUCH DIAMOND - NOT FOR DIAMOND2 / TOUCH PRO / HD2 ( This is simply because i don't have these devices with me and that i haven't tested! Those who have a spare handset are welcome to send it to me for diagnosis )
Let me get straight to the point. I’ve found out the solution to all the screen blackouts or the famous “microp error”. I’m sure no HTC so called Technical department could solve this.
I’ve been sitting 40Hrs straight with my HTC Diamond. ( The worst part is removing the screw’s and putting them back.)
THE PROBLEM –
1.It’s a hardware problem. Upgrading the microp.dll will not solve anything. ( Microchips gives really wired errors)
2.SYMPTOMS : A dialogue box showing “ Microp version 0 , Upgrade firmware “ (as far as I can remember) , dim or no backlight , no charging indicator , No backlight for physical keys , no touch sense (D button) , soft reset button non responsive..
3.EARLY WARNINGS: (a). If u have dropped your HTC diamond , then there is an 87% chance of this happening. (b.) Exposure to extreme cold/heat. ( if it’s a heat issue then u might need to replace the motherboard.)
THE SOLUTION
I don’t have a cam to record the entire event. But there is a YouTube video of an HTC dissembling. I’ve downloaded the video and put captions in it so that it would be clearer. Video will be uploaded soon.
Diamond de-assembling video - http://bit.ly/bxtcw0 (some Chinese guy , thanks dude)
PROCEDURE
When you remove the back cover , you’ll see
1.The battery
2.Sim card holder
3.Tons of screw’s
Remove all the visible screw’s.Remember , your warranty will get void if you have one!! This tutorial is for ones without warranty. Take a look at this picture :
http://www.twitpic.com/1cymw5
Remove the screw's shown above..
Next Locate the below chip.
www.twitpic.com/1cynw4
This chip is the main cause for the screen problem. This chip wen taken out has 2 connectors beneath it . These connectors wen gone loose causes the screen problem. It will take a few hours to just get them in place. ( HTC need to improve in build design)
www.twitpic.com/1cymhp . ( 2 connectors ) take out all the stickers if you want. Less annoying ..
Press it with your thumb (HARD) to ensure that they are in place. You can hear the click sound if you switch off your “Room” fan. Once this is done , put the battery without replacing the rest of the parts . ( All connections connected ) .. Try to turn it ON. If it doesnt , try again . Again it doesn't turn on then try again. Keep on trying. I'm sure that you'll get it working. IF it does turn on , please post reply's.
NOTE : Make sure that you connected everything back ( Very IMP) . For those who cannot take the chip out , I recommend you to watch a youtube video on how to dissemble an HTC diamond.

Hi Siddharthsai,
I have a screen problem but a bit more unique. The touch screen can work for a while if I leave it alone but after using the phone for a while, the screen does not work. If I were walk around with the phone, the screen will not work.
The buttons all can work and the phone can function for programs that can be controlled by the buttons. I am wondering if the problem is the same as yours in terms of connection problem.
Appreciate your advise on this.
Thanks.

Have you tried Hard reset? Hold down the volume key and press the reset key and power button . Backup your data using PIM backup before doing this... let me know if its coming again..waiting for your reply.
I have done the hard reset using the volume down/enter and reset button. I have reached the screen where I have to press on the cross hair and is stuck here as the touch panel is not able to click on the exact spot as it is always clicking to the bottom left. The same thing happened when I tried hard reset using "clear all data and format" but have to wait for a while until the screen can work.
After that the screen problem came back again. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. had some work.
Is you battery low? just turn off your device and charge until its full . this happens mostly when you use duplicate charger . try charging with htc original charger ( borrow it from a frnd ) ...charge it fully and hard reset. Tell me if it works... by the way are you having an Indian version of diamond? ( 2G) ?
Let me know.
RE:
Flash it with a new ROM and if it still persists , then its a hardware prob. do you still have warranty ?
man you are the bomb. many thanks for this tutorial

Thanx buddy. its not just me , its everyone in XDA ...we all rock
Guess what! My problem is solved. Did a hard reset yesterday but was stuck at the cross hair allignment as the screen was not responding. Left the phone overnight and could complete the allignment the next morning. After rebooting, the touch screen was jammed again.
Try flicking the screen with my finger a few times and managed to move from page to page and after flicking many times, the touch screen recovered and has been OK for the past 10 hours.
Guess one of the solutions for those who have intermittent problem is to flick your screen top and bottom. Guess the pressure must have connected any loose joints. I am a happy guy today )

I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 and I am getting the Microp error. The phone is not covered by warranty so looks like I may have to attempt to fix it myself.
I notice your tutorial deals with the Diamond - Any idea how to fix a Touch Pro 2?
@ above
Bro . Microp error comes because of the connectors. Since this is a slightly bulky , twice as big as diamond and has a slide out keypad , i suggest you to take it to a guy who knows to remove and fix things back.. ( not service center ) .. he'll charge you probably 200-300 bucks...just tell him to reassemble it back. Let me know...

I needed new screen, the easy part was taking apart but stuck on these 2 connectors well the bigger one, even when apart it does not seem to go together?
So here is my story.. i have a perfectly working kaiser, and one with a broken lcd.. but both of them are in terrible cosmetic condition.. so i decide to order from ebay a full housing (with keyboard included) to make it look good and give it to my brother as a present..
I perfectly disassemble the device with the working screen and easily install it in the new housing.. but when i turn it on i realise that the only working hardware keyboard buttons were q e u o f h l and some arrows i think...
My first conclusion was that the keyboard included in the housing was not working correctly so i decide to use my old one. but to my surprise the old keyboard also has only the same working buttons!!!
after that i also tried the keyboard from my other kaiser ( with the broken screen) with the same results.
So up to this point, i guess it is safe to assume that the keyboards have no problem.. but then the mystery grows cause i exchanged every single piece of the phone with the broken kaiser's parts and the problem remains the same...
Any idea?? i am an engineer and problems like that that i cannot think of a reason that they are happening drive me nuts!!! please help me sleep at nights..
thanx in advance!
Hooray! Someone else who has the exact same problem as me! The phone I have had the LCD screen replaced and once it was reassembled, the keyboard is wacky. I tried reseating it and the same keys you mention are the only ones working: Q E U O F H L, CAP/Shift, Tab, Space, Enter and the 4 arrow keys. Nothing else works. I'd love to see if anyone has a solution to our problem. =)
Also, I'm not sure if it does it for you but the backlighting doesn't turn back on once it goes off - even when pressing the working keys. I found other posts on this forum with similar problems (with no replies) but their keyboards were not working at all. There has to be a simple solution that we're missing if it's this common.
Thats really weird that we have the same keys working... it really has to be something we are missing... but i have changed everything..
the only thing i didnt change is the lcd, so now that you are telling me that this happened only after you changed the lcd, it got me thinking that maybe the lcd is not as inocent as it may seem... cause,ok, my first thought was like wtf the lcd couldnt mess up with the keyboard.. but now that i think about it it is the only thing i havent tried to replace.. i have a broken one but still quite operative, so i will try with this one and get back at you.. if in the meanwhile anyone else knows something or has an idea, please help a little bit!
Like you, I cannot find any reason between the keyboard and the screen that would cause this. They're not connected in any way or share any cables. They connect to different parts of the main board... there's no logic that I can find.
I got mine second-hand and the original owner said she had the LCD replaced because of a couple dead pixels. The keyboard was working fine before that. Let me know what you find out. I was planning on ordering a replacement keyboard assembly from eBay but since you've tried a couple, that saves me from wasting that money.
Unfortunatelly the extra LCD i had was not operating at all, so the test i wanted to do failed, and i still dont know whats causing the problem... i am more or less convinced that i have to buy a new lcd but it is a bit of a risk to change the screen because some buttons on the keyboard dont work, dont you think?? anyway i am wondering y nobody else has nothing to say... this hasnt happened to anyone else??

Hmm, that's an interesting find. It's odd that the same problem exists on different phones, unless it's a common section/piece of the board/assembly that gets damaged. Are you going to try and use the assembly from your other phone? Let me know what happens. I'd like to know what piece I need to buy to get mine working again. =)
My touch screen is having issues.. In one area about 3/4 down near the bottom across the length the screen is not responsive.. Here is a picture showing where /i62.tinypic.com/2ykn8rd.png (please add the http:/ before the link to check it)
I checked the touch with the service test
Is it a problem with the hardware? Because I haven't dropped it and there aren't any cracks..
Only thing I can think of is that my charger wire is a little frayed and that charge has seeped into the screen.. But is this damage permanent or how can I fix it ?
Any help would be much appreciated.. Thank you

Hi there, I'm sorry I couldn't find any information regarding your problem in the web and the way how to fix it. I'm suggesting you to send your phone to specialized repair center (Sony). Or you just can give a try and reflash the rom you're using, maybe it causes this problem - nobody knows until you try.
Good luck! If you're answering or anything like so, please quote the message that I'd be able to see it.
Hi, if the touch screen previously works without problem, can be an hardware damage of the touch screen panel, as you can see there is only one row that don't works, all you have to do is replace the entire LCD+Digitizer assembly, and the phone will works perfectly

If you didn't get the exact same screen from the exact same model then it won't work because of driver differences in your kernel, you'll have to modify your original kernel to work with the new screen.

To compile a new kernel for your model number you'll have to get the stock kernel source code that your device came with, then modify that to include support for the new screen. What tools you need and how to do it will have to be answered by someone else, I'm not a kernel developer, I just know that in order to use hardware that is different than what you had requires a new kernel because the kernel is what tells the device how to use the hardware components in the device.
You'll have to do some research to learn how to compile kernels, it's quite difficult, especially for someone that has never done it.
It will require trial and error, you won't get it right on the first try, and you'll probably brick your device a few times and have to restore it several times before you get it working correctly.
Find some kernel developers and ask them for advice.
Or get the correct screen for your model to save yourself the trouble.
Or get a new device if you can't figure it out.
