Hi there,
Does anyone know/have some experience with spare parts for the Wizard?
Is it possible to have your front cover (Qtek 9100) replaced by a new one (e.g. due to damages)?
Thanks.
since you seem to be dutch... check the Qtek.nl forums; they did mention they could replace the front covers where the appliquee's have worn off the buttons, as (so a rep. stated) that was likely a manufacturing error. Not sure what your damages are; I guess if you cracked it, you could still send it in for repairs. You'd be without the device for a while though?
Might you find anything, please post it here. I'm looking for a new battery cover, but am unable to find one...
(cracked the 2 plastic knobs that keep it in place..)
Same thing happened to my Dopod 838. Slipped from my pocket and the front cover is damaged, nothing major though, just some scratches but still, very annoying...
Sistech Indonesia did have the front cover, but it was the old version. Btw, the "Dopod" logo on old front cover version is fadeable. After two weeks on my pocket, it started to fade, rub it a little bit it's gone  So I think I'll wait for the new version (with new Dopod logo printed on the bottom of the screen) front cover.

It is possible, you would have to send it to "Dynafix" in nuth, NL.
They do repairs (under and out of warranty) for Qtek, but you probably will have to pay (+/-100 Euro, fall-damage is no warranty). Thats my experience. But if you have defects within warranty they will repair those for free.

Spare Parts
You may want to take a look on Ebay as I have noticed several non working display phones for sale there. I am sure that the cases would be correct as I have seen these displays at the phone dealers and they are anatomically correct.
I have some new front covers and housing parts right now, mainly for O2 XDA Mini S. But also one for T-Mobile MDA Vario and for VPA Compact S.
Feel free to contact me via P.M.
Best regards
gluecky
I'm still on a quest for battery and camera cover for the cingular 8100 (no camera), is there any news on getting those (somewhere in the world, don't care )

Thanks.

After many hours I got to open the Kaiser without causing any damage.
Tips:
- To remove the screen you just need to remove the 4 screws from behind the moving part.
- Be carefull because when you remove the cover there's a silver tiny screw connected to the speaker that you need to remover or you'll cause damage to the speaker and videoconferencing camera.
- I just used: T6, T4 and Phillips screwdrivers.
I'm posting some pictures.
Hope this helps to someone else...

currently trying right now (so i can see which connector i have) 4 screws are out but nothing seems to have losened up for removal
After removing the 4 screws you'll need a very thin tool to insert it between the screen cover and the screen casing. You have to be very carefull not to damage the cover, and make sure not to pull the cover too hard because you'll need to remove the speaker board screw first.
To remove the cover with the thin tool I started at the top and bottom of the device and then slided it over the whole device until the cover got loose.
Hope this helps...

Mario
Thanks for your help, looking to acquire a plastic tool for that...dont' want to use anything metalic and increase the risk of damaging anything more
I can't tell from the detail of the pictures, but how "integrated" is the front camera? Is it something I can possibly just "snap in" on my Tilt, or does a whole section have to be modified? I don't mind the idea of dremeling in a hole on the front panel.
Anyone know how I can quickly obtain the front camera and required connections/circuitry to apply it to my Tilt?
Hey Mario, Does this mean you didn't send in you Kaiser to HTC? I assume u went thru NJbridges. If so, are you up and running now? (determining what I should do)
I would also like to know how plausible it would be to add a front camera to the tilt.
What kind of connection is it?
Where can we get the part?
Hello all,
When removing the front cover you have to be carefull because the borad that holds the camera and the speaker is scrwed to the cover and if you pull it too hard you'll break the cables.
I went thru njbridges and I'm waiting for the replacement LCD, it's supposed to be here on Monday or Tuesday. I'll let you know the results. IMPORTANT: There are two LCD models differentiated by the color of the cable and connector, make sure you check that before ordering.
I didn't send my device to HTC because I live in Mexico and I needed a US address, plus they said the replacement could cost between $170 and $370 and I think they don't have the replacement LCD's in stock yet.
If you have a Tilt I don't think you'll be able to add a front camera to it.
Hope this helps!
Best Regards,
Mario.
Thanks Mario, still haven't fount a proper tool to open it as of yet. But please keep me posted on if you got you TyTn II working with the new screen, I have the same feeling about HTC US and the screen. got two different answers on two different calls.

So there is two LCD models? That explains why my replacement Tilt (which I sent back because I did not like, waiting for another) had a screen with a weired greenish tint to it.
Dude where did you get your LCD screen replacement? What's NJBRIDGES? Googled it but couldn't find a link. I need one badly!
Is this a universal LCD screen? Can I use older LCD screens from Blue Angel? Hermes? Etc?

no its not universal so don't bother trying to connect an older LCD to it.

Hey is it not just cheeper to sell it on ebay and get a kaiser? But i didnt message u to make fun of u lol i was really interested in knowing why you would need a front camera on a tilt? I am assuiming you are using it with ATT (I have a MDA VARIO III which has the front camera and plan to use it with ATT) and I thought they dont support Video Telephony...or do they now?
Hey Mario,
Just checking if you had any progress with this yet.
Hello,
I just came back from my trip and the UPS package with the new LCD was waiting for me...
I replaced the LCD in about 30 minutes and so far I've been using my Kaiser for about 3 hours without any problems.
I got my LCD screen from njbridges.
Happy again!!!!

perfect i will put my focus on getting the tool to open and then order the screen
what colour was ur connector
I ordered a full housing, case and front dpad from CNN.CN and it appears to me that the parts are NOT OEM as they claim to be.
The housing has a shiny back cover (like the front) instead of being rubbery and the HTC logo is not dead-on straight, it's crooked abit. Also the front cover does not have the origional HTC logo to the right (note: the camera hole is present, thus it's not made for a tilt).
Now I've also noticed on all the parts, except for the DPAD, have a small Cellular Nationwide Network (cnn) sticker, which would indicate to me the compnay itself manufactured the parts. Any ideas?
Here is a parts list i've ordered
http://cnn.cn/shop/tytn-iitilt-full-housing-p-2148.html (notice the glossy back)
http://cnn.cn/shop/tytn-iitilt-outer-keypad-p-2057.html
and for some reason the part 'HTC TyTN II/Tilt OEM LCD screen' is no longer present on their site.
Let me know what you guys think
Found another site:
http://www.gsm4world.us/shop/tytn-iikaiserp4450-c-210_297.html
I've ordered from cc.cn for other phones earlier and they've been OEM, but I dont think the TyTYn2 in OEM, the rear panel on my TyTn is rubbery while the one on cnn.cn looks shiny. THe one is gsm4world does'nt look OEM as the rubber GPS antennae port does'nt have GPS written on it, I guess OEM still has'nt come onto the market
Hmm it sucks i paid top-dollar for non-oem. Also like you mentioned, my case doesn't have the embeded "GPS" writing on the rubber cover either.
edit: but their customer service is excelent. They replied to emails within an hour and sometimes within 30 minutes. I got the items in 7 days, and i ordered it on the 26 (during holidays)
OK so after spending 2 hours installing the lcd and replacing the non-oem funny fitting front face, it looks like the job failed.
When i turn on my phone, the LCD lights up plain white. The phone works, i can receive calls, i hear the phone ring but i do not get a display. Any ideas?
I heard the LCD connector click when i pushed it into the board.
Disassemble, re-inspect, and re-seat all connections you can.
If that doesn't work then chances are more was damaged than you initially thought. I've never opened up my Kaiser, but thats just what I'd do.
bump bump
both link does not have a front cover w/out a front camera. are there anymore website?
has anyone bought an LCD for kaiser from cnn.cn? is it original (OEM)?
My htc desire is broken.. Its LCD amoled , touchscreen and housing is damaged. If i purchase it from CNN.cn website ... are they going to be the original parts? What do you think is the best solution to it, since my home country doesnt have a htc repair center and none has its spare parts
No problem with CNN.CN, they're reliable and parts are OEM.
Parts may be OEM manufacturer but quality & grade are not guaranteed !
I have seen housings from CNN that certainly were not OEM, bit of gamble but if options are limited one you might take !
is this housing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260453968402&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 a FURTHER rip-off in quality as the OEM found here http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-SONY-ERICSS...ries?hash=item2ea6dd8d1e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
i want to buy a new housing but i don't wanna buy one with less quality than the original
what are your thoughts on the pics there?
Judging by the pics both fascias seem identical. Although don't know why this big pricing difference. Maybe the first auction is for a replica housing? Don't have large pics as the second auction so we can tell for sure.
Also, at CNN http://cnn.cn/shop/sonyericsson-xperia-c-28_638.html the housings are pricey. For me go for the second auction or buy from CNN, you will be 100% sure that the housing is the OEM.
yeah i was looking at the $24.00 on ebay too... someone should buy it and tell me how it is
i think im gonna let this pass and sell my x1 as it is, im thinking of leaning towards the touch diamond 2 i will miss my keyboard but what the heck
Yo!
I ordered the $24.00 last week... When I receive the housing parts, I will take pictures and spread the message....
Fingers crossed......
Damn the cracks....Its a pity to sacrifice a gd device just now that some gd new things are coming....senseUI....Leo...sure it'll come for d2 too.....but no KeyBoard there.....I have ur very same problem...but I'll try the case !!
Received the housings yesterday.
They're certainly not OEM (maybe the backcover is, the rest not). The outside looks quite nice finished, the set is quite complete (with some tools for the fitting). From the two sets I ordered, one has a large gluestain on the top part of the housing (below the LCD). This gluestain damaged the paint. So I decided to start transferring the phone in the other housing.
After dissecting the phone I started with the assembly of the screen part. The speaker fitted not quite nice, so took some feddling to get mounted. At last it fitted (the print on top of the speaker fitted just). Closing the top part of the housing was a mess. The snap-locks didn't snap (partly) and on one side the housing did not flush fit. The (original) screws did not fit in the thread bushings.... With some fiddling I sort of managed to fit them. Then on with the bottom part. The new chrome buttons do not fit in the new chrome housing part.......
This is were I give up for yesterday. I think I'm going to rebuild the old housing en give up on the new one....
So.....
Decide for yourself if it's worth the trouble.... The housing looks quit neat (not as good as OEM though) but the fitment process is quite troublesome. Delivery was fast and the package is complete (including self-adhesive rubber for screen and speaker fitment). I will get in touch with the guy from Ebay with my findings.... Maybe I'm doing something wrong....
Will post some pictures tomorrow or something....
thnx ur comments were of gr8 benefit to me.....will be gladly w8ing for the pics !

Does anybody know, where i can buy a non branded battery cover for my sliver x1?
It is branded with T-Mobile, but i would like to have it blank or non-branded.
An original one is 25 € in ebay Germany. That's too much. So a cheap one would be fine.
Thanks in advice for all tips!

ebay dude, i purchased one 2 weeks ago for about 10 GBP
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170363212269
OK guys....
I managed to revive the Xperia tonight.... It has become a hybrid with the metal (original) front and black backside. The middle part is also left original. So the only part I ended up exchanging has been the back cover.
First of all; kudo's to HTC for making the Xperia somewhat sturdy (at least the inside is...). The amount of mechanical havoc tha has been put through the innards of the phone are substantial... And still everything functions!!
After the initial assembly attempt a few weeks ago, I was sure that I had wrecked my phone trying to assemble it with the new housing. Some parts did not fit really well, and the (original) screws did not quite fit the (new) threaded bushings. Halfway through the assembly process I ran into the new chrome buttons not fitting in the new chrome middle part and I gave up on assembly for the time being. After recharging myself for a couple of weeks I forced myself to take up the task of finishing the assembly of the phone tonight...
First I had to disassemble the phone (I was halfway assembling it...) again. I decided to use the original front (had some scratch damage and a very small crack) to surpass the not-fitting thread bushings in the new part. This was a problem... One of the screws had settled in the not-fitting thread bushing and decided to not unscrew, but turn the bushing in the plastic instead. After trying careful and not damaging anything for some time I decided it was time for the hobby knife and screwdriver (as crowbar...). The new front cover did not survive this operation. The screw and the innards of the phone did however!! Reassembly using the old front cover was quite easy, as was reassembly of the back using the original middle part. In the new back part was the thread bushing missing for fixation of the speaker... I used the not-fitting bushing from the front cover as bushing for the speaker fixation. Off course after I made the bushing fitting by forcing the screw in the bushing using a sturdy screwdriver and a set of pliers. This bushing was hammered (carefully...) into the location where the bushing should have been.... This sort of worked. The new back cover does not fit as neat into the original middle part as the original back cover, but it did fit (with some force). The plastic lip that fixes the SIM card was a bit to long, so I had to cut of 0,5mm to make it fit the SIM card. And last but not least only one of the two new battery covers was able to get a grip on the phone...
Then came the thrilling moment to switch on the phone.... Everything worked as if nothing had happened!! So end good all good; I have a phone that looks quite neat (part brushed metal - part black) and functions.
If it was worth the hassle... I doubt it... When you've got a phone that is in pieces and you want spare parts to repair it (as cheap as possible and you like some hobbying) then go ahead and buy this housing. If you want a phone that looks as good as new (and you don't want to risk a heart attack or nervous break down) then I guess you're better off leaving this housing as it is.... For a phone that's worth a few hundred bucks I think this housing is not OK. For a scrapheap phone that needs revitalisation for a small amount of money than it's OK.... If I had to do it all again I think I would have gone for an OEM housing.... After all, I'm happy that my phone functions again so I can leave the TYTN at home. I was to stubborn to buy another housing...
This has become quite a story, hope it will be of any help to somebody. Now I must see if I can post some images....
Grreetz,
Ronald
Some pictures.... try if it works....
Hmm i've dropped my poor x1 on the concrete sidewalk as i got out of my car.
Amazingly it must be good quality because there are a only a couple of scratches on the front and some damage on the rubber around where the
stylus is, but otherwise everything works and is functional.
What this experience did, was got me lookin for spare parts in case I'd
ever need them. As a result I ordered from the same person on eBay 2 days ago
and I just now found this post. Needless to say, I'm damn scared that I've
wasted the money. You tried to fit the black parts on a silver X1, and mine is black,
so I'm crossing my fingers that for some unknown odd fantastical reason, it fits better on the black version. Also may ask whether your model is an x1i or x1a?
I'm guessing b/c its silver its an x1i but u can nvr be to sure. As for me, mine is
a black x1a. I'll post back if i have any updates.
Hi Nick.
I've got a X1i, as you had already guessed.... The mixing of the parts is also a bit of a risk.... The chrome middle part (original) has suffered some damages during my disassembly actions to start with... And has developed some new cracks in the use as a hybrid. Maybe I've overtightened some screws, or maybe the bottom part does not fit well enough so it develops to much tension I don't know...
I've decided to use the X1 till it dies, and to buy something else (no slide keyboard) a little bit more sturdy when it does. I am not going to do any repairwork on it. The design is simply flawed, I have had it repaired at SE once, when it came back it was broken again within two months. These stories can be found al over the internet, so I am not going to repair it again (just to get it broken again). I am not careful enough for a phone like this (however, my colleague also has a X1 that's broken and he is very careful...) I guess.
Just my two cents.
thanks fliptil I'll keep those things in mind.
Before i dropped my x1 for the first time. There was some kind of defect in the silver middle part. At first it was a slight crack so i thought nothing of it, until a piece fell right out of it. Until now i've never needed to go through the process
of getting something fixed and was my experience painful. I got mine through a carrier (Rogers) so I called them on the phone. I was on hold forever, and when I finally got through they told me I had to go to a rogers store to have someone
personally take a look at it.
I got to the store, got on their phone, and was on hold for 20 minutes. When I got through they told me they would connect me to a specific department.
Another 20 minute wait.
I got through and then gave the phone to a rogers employee there. He confirmed that it should be a defect as there were no signs of dropping it and then HE waited 20 minutes while the guy on the line called sony.
I waited all that time to find out that I cannot get it replaced through my carrier but had to go through sony themselves.
I looked up some stories of experiences with SE's services and found that most (if not all) of the time they replace your x1 with a refurbished one, and I wasn't about to trade a perfectly brand new one with a minor ding in it, for
one that could be potentially scratched up and badly treated.
Now that I've dropped it though I fear that whether the defect gets worse or not I cannot get Sony's warranty on it. However, after what you've just told me I don't think I want to. Here's to hoping that i won't have to do x1
surgery anytime soon...

I have no idea how to replace the front cover.. anyone can shed some light on this?
Make sure you have the right tools and plenty of time to do it properly without damaging anything. Maybe you should send it to an SE service center if you're not confident enough to do this, I don't think its very expensive either (about £30 in the UK for new case plus their labour).

I do have a question though, the videp shows disassembly inside out.. Is this the only way to just replace the front cover? going through all that steps looks complicated n dangerous.

Unfortunately it is the only way. Here is a thread about my and others experience of doing this....it may help you both http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550258
How would I be able to seperate the front touch screen form the rear?
Like the one at the VERY start of the video: http://www.mygsmtube.com/videos/181-xperia-x1-disassembly-front.html
How would I disassemble the slider from the keyboard likeat the very start of the video??
Im still baffled about how to do it and afraid to experiment..
A box fell om my T-Mobile MDA Compact V leaving a nasty gouge over the entire height of the screen.
I have been told that the only real remedy is to replace the digitizer.
Unfortunately I have found that the digitizer for the MDA Compact V is not commercialy available where as the one for the Diamond 2 is.
Can anyone tell me if the two are interchangeable? Can I replace the digitizer on my MDA Compact V with one meant for a Diamond 2?
They should be, the pure and mda compact v have the same housingg, so the digitizer will most likely work. Actually I'm nearly positive that it will work perfectly
No it wont fit, the bottom of the digitizer on the Compact V is curved, the Diamond II is flat.
I've got the same problem, the digitzer scratches way to easily. I'm looking at putting the Compact V in a Diamond II housing, I can find the housing and digitizer but cannot find the buttons anywhere.
Whoops, my mistake. I was thinking of the pure, not the regular TD2. You're right, they will not fight. The top is also a little different. And can you not get it shipped from online?
Unfortunately I cannot get it online.
The prices T-Mobile charges for repairs are insane so I contacted a number of 3rd party repair shops. None of them are able to obtain parts for the MDA Compact V.
My own searches found a supplier in china who was rumoured to have them but will not reply to my inquiries.
So for now I will just live with the scratches.

The two screws are accessible from front.
Beneath the buttons is a piece of plastic with the T-Mobile logo.
