I retried the update.

Yes. Go to the Hermes section
I just followed the instructions on this thread forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636024 (sorry can't post links yet) to install android to the NAND.
All worked well, but I'm having trouble getting my data connection established.
Radio: 3.42.30
The data icon appers to the on the top bar, and when I go to the modem box it reads:
Connection attempt SUCCESSFUL!
Phone IP: 120.254.168.83
Subnet: 255.255.255.255
P-1P: 68.28.241.85
Done!

That seems to indicate that the data connection was established, but when i use anything that requires data(browser, sync, market, etc) it returns an error essentially indicating it can't connect.
I tired looking for a thread on the topic but couldn't find anything, just hoping somebody could tell me if data was suposed to work or if its not working net.
data works. try reinstalling system and data

Thanks for confirming this, using the thread I referenced do you mean reinstall as in step 13 on or should I start over at step 1?
yes start at 13. reinstall system and hit yes for wipe data. if it still doesn't work then try flashing back to a Windows Rom and check that everything is working then flash back to Android.
Outstanding.
So I had tried starting at #13 multiple times already, but tried it again for good measure. Didn't work.
I tried reinstalling a random rom but then it never booted, so I installed the HTC/sprint stock rom to verify that data was working correctly. It was. I did notice a message saying that it was configuring data for first access, or something like that.
I reinstalled android from this point and look at that it works now....
Thank you much for your help.
Brian
haha that's awsome man I'm glad I could help.
Okay, I justflashed a generic .534 firmware through Flashtool (I was on .257 and I wanted to downgrade so I could root my phone) and the first time it said I had no space on my hard drive so I cleaned it a bit then I started again and it flashed perfectly but during the end of flashing i saw this:
02/009/2013 11:09:33 - WARN - This file is ignored : simlock.ta
anyway the flashing ended with a message "Flashing Finished.
When I turned on my phone I could go to Home as I got the error "com.android.phone has stopped working" and that error was repeating along with "Camera has stopped working". I could access all apps through Google Search but I can't go to Home. What the hell is happening?
That warning in flastool is fine.
To stop the problem with force stop just clear the cache /data for those apps

But I can't find com.android.phone in the Applications settings.
Damn you answered too late I just started a phone repair on PC Companion and it's already downloading the necessary files...:crying:
At least I hope this fixes it...
Nevermind guys, I did a factory reset on my phone and it fixed it. Of course, now I have to reinstall all my apps (thank god I did some screenshots of my settings as the Backup app didn't work on PC Companion).

I answered too late...just 30 minutes after you posted your question...you expect a lot there..
So last night I flashed CM10.2 just to try it out... After I was done testing, I restored the official JB system back on my S Advance.
After it booted, I got to the "Welcome to Galaxy" screen without a reason... I thought "Well, ok, let's set it up again", but when I got to put my Wifi password, the keyboard didn't show.. So I decided to skip that. While I was going through the passages I got messages that GApps stopped working, and when I got to choose the time, I tapped next and I got the message secsetupwizard has stopped working, after that I got to the welcome screen once more. What the hell happened to my phone? I made a backup and it takes me to that stupid welcome screen which I don't need!

There was info about this in the forum

some of us even had problems with the baseband when coming back.
Well this morning, suddenly the playstore stopped working, showing the following error - Check your connection and try again.
I've faced this problem many times and I'm usually able to solve it, but this time I wasn't able to.
Steps I've already taken
Clear data and cache of Playstore and Google services Framework
Delete the host files in the etc folder
Reboot a couple of times
What else can I do?
Oh and also for some strange reason I wasn't able to update my apps since this morning. An error kept popping up - error 489.

Yeah dude I already tried that. Didn't work. For some reason the internet's stopped working now. Nothing of google is opening up. Nor are the notifications. Other sites are working sans google.
For this reason i decided to flash the stock rom
but when I try to flash, I get this message preflash validation failed
You have any idea?
