Unusual rom pagckage for wuzard - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

HI, Just got a wizard to replace my exec, now upon upgrading the tom to 2.17 i realised that you cannot unlock the ext rom (yet) so i thought i'd go back to the ship rom and only upgrade the os not the radio or ext but to my suprise, i was unable to do just this as i could on my exec or my old xda ii
Is this possible using a different upgrade program..... can you mix and match rom and ext like the other systems...
any one been playing with this ?

Hi, please check this link
XDAIIi How to cook/flash Extended ROM
or
2577 method
my friend Ru Chonburi, he applied Dr.Chair method to modify extended rom of Xda IIi. If you don't want to flash rom, check 2577 method, from the second link.
You'll find asia rom out there also.[/url]

Click to collapse
Yes, it easiest and fastest, no need hexeditor or total commander (that you have to install driver .inf manually). Basic concept is from Dr.Chair.
I don't find any problem, this 2i still can be flash as usual method. I flash more than 10 times with 3 Xda2i.
This morning, I've tested to flash to dopod chinese rom, then I use sd card to reflash back to O2A ia without any problem.

Note: I found that SD card whice backup rom from O2UK 2i (bought from UK), can not be used to flash O2Asia (bought from Asia) or vice versa.

HTC Universal Rom on XDAIIi

Has anyone tried putting/modding the Universal ROM on the XDAIIi. I just wondered if the hardware on the Universal was more like that on the Alpine and we might be able to use it? Just a thought...
impossible to do that
Rom images are made up with specific drivers and cannot be transfered to other models, the inner workings of different models are completely different even if there specs look the same (WiFi etc ...) they are totally incompatible
true that
You can't upgrade directly, but there are people who modifiy ROMS to install on other devices, look at BUZZ and the Blue Angel WM2005 update!
Buzz is willing to design an upgrade for Alpine, but does not own one, so until he does or people donate to help him buy one, it is unlikely that we will see a cooked WM2005 upgrade for Alpine yet!.
Useful link below
http://www.buzzdev.net/
wait until buzz got an alpine....sure he'll play with it....
I have used the Universal WM5 upgrade on my i-mate PDA2,First I Partitioned the Rom to have the full Rom Size 128MB then I copied the nk.nbf from The Universal to the Original i-mate upgrade and used the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to do the upgrade.
Using all the universal rom did not work and got Model Error.
The Upgrade went all the way very smooth but couldn't hard reset the PDA2.
All I upgraded was the CE image only,Radio And Extended Rom are the old ones.
I used all buttons compinations and stil could not reset the PDA2.
So I went Back to WM2003SE.
This proves that it can be done.!!!!
Maybe it is the extended rom part that stopped it, There is no way so far to unlock the Alpine extended rom.
I hope Buzz can do something about it,I am willing to do all the trials on my PDA2.

Siemens SX66 upgrade for WMP10

I want to have WMP10 on my SX66, but the original ROM only has WMP9.
Is there any way I can upgrade the ROM to have WMP10....but keep everything from the original upgrade (like all of the stuff for Cingular).
WM10 started showing up in 1.31 rom went main stream in the 1.4x rom (was some time ago so I could be wrong).
If you need WM10 then you need to up the rom as there is no wm10 install as such. If you up your CE rom to 1.42 some of the ext rom patches will downgrade you rom so you need to clean up the ext rom.
If you want to keep your carriier apps then you need to keep a copy of your old ext rom.
Best start for you is wiki and the kitchen.
The SX66 has the standisation project and for that this site is not the best, you can get a lot more info of pdaPhoneHome.com

Tmobile Wing ROM on MDA... Possible?

Hi... I have a Tmobile MDA (HTC Wizard) phone with the latest MDA ROM (2.26.10.2) on it.
What I would like to know is if I can download the Tmobile Wing (HTC Herald) ROM from Tmobile website and flash it to my MDA? Would it work or brick my MDA? Would I need to do CID unlock before loading the Wing ROM?
I checked and I have a G4 MDA. Hardware-wise both the phones are similar.... I would like to have WM6 on my MDA without having to go thru the flashing process.
Appreciate your help.
does anyone have any idea?
Search under the Windows Mobile 6 subforum for "boring ROM"....
Last line of original post-"I checked and I have a G4 MDA. Hardware-wise both the phones are similar.... I would like to have WM6 on my MDA without having to go thru the flashing process.", yes...they are similiar, but NOT the same! The Wings ROM WILL brick your MDA, ESPECIALLY since it is a G4. We have plenty of WM6 and WM6.1 ROMs here for your enjoyment. And about the wanting to upgrade without flashing...well, that is not possible! You HAVE to flash a new ROM in order to upgrade to a new version of Windows Mobile.
Thanks @ashasaur. I understand that I need to flash the ROM which will erase everything on the phone and load the new OS. I went thru some stickies and found out the process and have seen some G4 safe ROM version like TNT/Slim/BlackDiamond on the forums... would try them out.
One last question... incase if I have to revert to original WM5 Tmobile ROM... can I do that ? If so how ?
If you wanted to revert to the factory WM5 ROM not going to be a problem. You can go to T-Mobile's website and download the 2.26/2.26/WM5 ROM. It is the latest official T-Mobile ROM upgrade available for the Wizard. Here is it: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
Also if you do a lot of flashing it is recommended that you always flash back to an official ROM before you switch to a newer WM6/WM6.1 ROM.
For example, I had TNT 6.1 but wanted to upgrade to WM6.1 Slim 4.0. Here are the steps:
1) Backed up all data
2) Flashed down to T-Mobile 2.26 ROM
3) Flashed to WM6.1 Slim 4.0
4) Flashed the radio ROM I wanted (UK 2.19)
5) Flashed the IPL/SPL ROM I wanted (3.08/3.08)
6) Restore backed up data
Best way to backup and restore your contacts, SMSes, etc is FdcSoft's PPCPIMBackup. You can find it here in forum.
yes, that is a good system, but for G3 devices! When flashing a G4, DO NOT EVER flash ANY IPL/SPL to your phone or it WILL become a brick.
@ashasaur... I was planning to flash the Slim v4.0 on my G4 MDA (it says it is G4 safe). Do I need to flash a radio ROM too? Isnt it part of the Slim ROM ?
I have backed up my data using the dotfred's PIMBackup (v2.8)
yes, the Slim v4.0 is indeed G4 safe...im using on my G4 right now ASAF. You can flash a new radio ROM if you wish, but it is not required, the radio ROMs are a different part of the system, and not included with the regular OS ROMs...newer radio ROMs give better reception for some, but they are not required when flashing a new OS ROM.
Thanks @ashasaur... I plan to flash on weekend... will post my results here ... One more question... since you already have Slim 4.0 on your Wizard... do you see any issues specially regarding Bluetooth, Wifi, GPRS/EDGE (I have Tmobile Web plan)? Thanks.

XDA Diamond, is the TT7 on a CD or in the ROM

Hi folks,
For those of you that have the German O2 XDA Diamond, does the software come on a CD or is it builtin to the ROM?
Didn't check the bundled CDs yet, but yep, it's in the stock ROM.
:O my friend didn't seem to get it on his ROM, which version you on?
It came with 1.37.something and the .cab installed. I upped to the latest 1.93 from o2's website, still there and worked. Then - being the fail that I am - I wiped the ROM for a cooked one without backing up the phone first and lost it in the process.
