Hello, By default the camera is set to the third button on XDAIIi's. I'm not a great fan of the camera and would love to remove it completely. However, the button can be set via Settings/buttons to another application only problem is that when the device is reset or battery changed it defaults back to the camera.
Do you know how to solve this ?
thanks.

my regedit freaking out on me.. I go back and its still at 0.. its like its not saving it.. hmm any clue?
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I searched and this came up, i thought instead of making a new thread i'll just bring to this one back to the top as i dont think it was resolved properly
I'm having the same problem as icecool. When i open the keyboard the camera app stays upside down and doesnt flip with the GUI.
What i want do is open the keyboard, tilt the screen, place my phone on a table top and use the front camera to record myself but because the camera app is upside down any video recorded in this method plays upside down in any other source.
I tried the method GSLEON described but indeed the registry entry is defaulted to "0" and is reverting back to "0" whenever I change the entry using RegEdit (thats part of Task Master 2.7)
My phones a UK Orange based HTC Tytn II, however i've upgraded the rom to Dutty's Dual Touch v2, I havent changed the radio.
Any suggestions? Shall i use a different reg editor? Is this a known issue.
Thanks in Advance, All help appreciated.
Use the New Camera
Hi,
I've upgraded to the newer camera v.5, which you can find on this forum, and it flips the camera on popping out of the keyboard, but does not flip the camera back once the keyboard has popped back in. In fact, the camera becomes unresponsive when the keyboard is popped back in and only becomes resonsive again when you pop the kayboard out again.
It half fixes the problem.
Cheers,
andrew-in-woking
Thanks for such a swift reply.
I already have Camera App 5.02.29195 installed as part of the rom, but its not flipping the app when the keyboard is slid out. Is there a newer version of the app? Shall i just reinstall this version
That's odd. Mine flips back when I shut the KB. AT&T Tilt Home sooked stock rom.
On the standard htc TytnII rom try opening camera app > open menu > capture settings > camera (normally set to main camera) > second camera (flip)
Kaiser Camera Screen Rotation
My Kaiser camera is working as it should (rotates to righthanded landscape when kb is out and flips back to lefthanded when kb is closed). What I would like to do is have it rotated to righthanded even when the kb is closed.
I've tried changing the values in the registry for the rotatescreen value from 0 to 1 and 2 but it seems to make no difference. I have also soft reset after changing the registry values and again no change.
Any one know if this is even possible?
Sorry if this has already been posted/answered elsewhere but I've not been able to track it down.
Hi there,
For some reason the camera button on my kaiser stopped working. whenever I press it I get the message attached. If I start the camera from the programs interface and I use the Dpad button to take the pic everything works all right. Anyone having the same problem, or anyone knows how to fix it?
have you tried reinstalling the camera?
theres a polaris camera cab for the kaiser floating around somewhere
Did you use the camera cab? If you're using a shortcut to control camera by linking it to a button, check the button shortcut properties. Also, this can happen if your device security is on or if you moved the .exe.
First go into settings/buttons & reassign the camera to the correct button. You may want to use the browse function & make sure you assign the .exe in \windows instead of any .lnk shortcuts you may use. Then try re-installing the camera app. if that doesn't work.
Have you checked that the button is still assigned to the camera.
Start>settings>Buttons icon.
If the camera works ok by going to programmes then the camera is fine, it's just the association to the button that's either broken or has been reset by accident or by a new installation.
Mike
I feel really stupid! I should have checked what button 4 is atually for. I got confused by the icon of the button, which represents a tape, so I thought that was the recording button.
Thank you for your help!
Greetings all,
Per the above; is this possible? Hoping for an outcome whereby pressing the physical shutter button, whilst the phone is turned on, but not in the camera, loads up the camera app.
Thanks in advance
Yep, you just hold the shutter button down and it activates the camera from any screen. Also works when the device is locked and screen is off.
Can you reverse this with settings?
So can you stop the camera loading up by some setting on the phone disabling the physical shutter button?
As it's being accidentally pressed while getting the phone out of my pocket?
Cheers!
Probably not without rooting, but the button requires a fairly long, full press to activate the camera so I can't see it accidentally starting the camera by just getting it out of a pocket (it's certainly never happened to me)

It is possible to disable this feature. I have done this since I kept getting pocket pictures as well. You have to go into the camera app, open the menu and select the third tab (the one with the screwdriver and spanner icon). The first setting on that tab is called "Hurtig start" on my phone which is in danish. I would expect this to be a translation from "Quick start" or something like that. This setting have four options, the last one being "Slukket" which is probably a translation of "Turned off". When selecting this option the physical camera button stops doing anything unless you are already inside the camera app.
Sorry about it being landscape

Hi.
Does anyone know is to possible to set camera in manual mode by default when launching via camera button or lock screen shortcut ?
It's launching as I want only when I tap the camera app from the drawer. When launching from lock screen or dedicated button it always start in this crappy auto mode.

I think such a thing (if possible) can only be done with root.
It's also annoying me, but it's been like that on all previous phones.

well, I just got mine and on one of the home screens I have a whole row just for the camera. There I can pus a little "settings" button in the far right corner and I can select which camera shortcuts to have there, one of them is "manual". Have you seen that?

He means when using the camera button.
It always starts with superior auto. When starting the camera through the app, it does remember your settings.
So I have to wait for some nice custom rom fixing this issue

On the Z1C, this couldn't be changed with root as well, so I guess we'll have to live with that. Maybe Android L fixes this.
Any news on this having root already on our devices?

An update recently came out, called Lollipop, and I guess it fixed that issue as seen on the preview.

This issue has not been fixed. I'm also still looking for a way to disable superior auto mode and always start the camera in manual mode when pressing the hardware camera button.
Hello there, I tried it with the xposed module xposed additions pro, but even after several tries I had no luck. I'm rooted on stock 5.1 and I'm sure there is a way to change the behavoir of the long press action of the camera key but I didn't find it yet as I'm very new to this phone. Let's share experiences!
cheers!
Is it possible to have the physical shutter button launch a different camera app? My particular phone is rooted, if that helps make this possible...
I swear the stock camera app never gets a picture in focus, but others do just fine.
Currently there's no way of changing the mapping of the physical buttons found on the phone
I was able to get this mostly working with the Tasker app.
The "Camera Button" is one of the built in Profile actions. I just linked that to a Task which launches a different camera app. This works fine as long as the stock Sony camera app is frozen/disabled.
The only limitation is that unlike the default behaviour, it does not work when the phone is locked. With the stock camera app disabled, the camera button has no effect when the phone is locked. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of Tasker or something else. I'll keep poking at it....
