Hi
I have the newest firmware version installed on my Qtek 9090 (BA_WWE_14000_147_11200_Ship), and I experience a problem again which I had first when I bought my Qtek but was gone after I had installed Radio version 1.08.00:
Once a day I have to reset my Qtek because I can't hear the one I am calling - usually this happens when I call my mobile phone's answer phone. The phone gets connected but I don't hear anything. After a soft reset everything is fine again.
Is this a known issue? Any solutions to it? Ok - I know I can downgrade to 1.08 again but I dont really wanna do that. And yes, I can stop calling my anser phone ....
Anyone knowing what is causing the problem?
Reagrds,
A
I had the same problem with my Qtek 9090 until I stopped use the Bluetooth feature completely. Since then, everything is fine.

For me, radio 1.12 delivered:
- worse signal reception
- higher battery consumption
- still no sound issue.
flashed twice & still having the bloody "no sound" issue. really give up. i think the next thing to change is the motherboard. sigh.........................
I had never had this issues untill I upgraded my Radio to 1.12 and then I had it 5 times in one day, went back to 1.10, no more issues
Hmm. This is a really 'odd' problem. I didn't originally have this problem with my SX66. Then, it just 'popped up' one day, and I can't seem to get rid of it.
I have tried different ROM versions (currently 1.40), and my radio version is at 1.10.
I have NEVER used radio 1.12, so I know that's not the CAUSE.
We need to compile a list of people with the problem, and see exactly what combination of ROM and Radio they have, as well as the programs they have installed.
if you read the cingular forums, there are a few folks there that say they have had it all along so I am not sure where to start...
umm....... different ppl have different problem. seems like it's a integration issue.
If you go to some HK forums, you will also find a lot of people suffering from this.
To me, I seldom use it as a phone. I only use it to receive emails and website browsing. When I go overseas and I used it as a phone with a BT handsfree (shut down GPRS connection), everything is just fine. I only encountered once with no sound problem when I take away my BT handsfree on a plane....
It's definitely a bug since a long time ago with old and new versions.....
Sad....and disappointed......
Hi all,
I upgraded my phone to the 1.12 radio along with the 1.40 CE ROM and am always resetting due to the "can't hear caller" issue and I never had this problem before.
I'm going to do a hard reset and see if that helps (clear out all the apps and use it for a day or so). If this doesn't work, I shall revert back to the 1.10 as I had no problems with that.
ROM 1.40.00
Radio 1.12.00
EXT ROM 1.13.139 (with Updated CallerID [1.20] and older version of O2 Active [3.0])
This cant hear caller issue, is it cant AT ALL hear caler or caller is so faint I cant hear him.
I ask as sometimes I get calls that are faint however when the caller rings back it fine. Not sure if its crap reseption or the device.
I got O2IIs from UK and had the same "No sound" problem. I have to SR about 5 times daily to sort it out. However, if I turn off Bluetooth (pairing with my Bluetrek G2) then everything's OK.
My ROM version is 1.31.00 WWE, Radio : 1.10.00, ExtROM: 1.31.139 WWE and BT 1.0.0 Build 3500
Had up to BT 3900 but wont help. Gonna up radio to 1.12. Will post the outcome soon.
I've only experience the problem once since the imate 1.40 upgrade.
Now, I must say that I don't use the phone THAT heavily.
I upgrade to 1.40 EX, it seems working fine, still the sound quality is not good enough...
people!
A guy called Derek has posted a possible solution to this problem here! http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=118364
It involves removing the Bluetooth for the startup because he believes that even with the bluetooth off, the unit is still trying to connect to a bluetooth headset.
I'm going to remove/unpair my Bluetooth Headset and see if that makes a difference. If anyone else can try this and post results I'm sure this would help loads of people.
Dom
Please confirm this and I will post it to wiki
@xdadom,
It's correct. As I mentioned in my post, when I "turned off" Bluetooth, everything's OK. The way I "turned off" Bluetooth is exactly the same with Derek did in his post, i.e. delete "Run_BTTrayCE" from Windows\StartUp\
However, I still need Bluetooth for my hand-free device. In my opinion, it's rather a trick, not a solution to kill "No sound" problem. Anyway, we can wait the updated BT version from supplier to sort it out.
I repeteadly experience this problem:
sometimes in my XDAIIi, no matter if receiving or making calls, my voice/sound cannot be heard, by the other party. Nor I can hear his/her voice/sound. Phone call ringing is Ok.
This problem appears 20% 30% of times.
When the battery is below 25% this problem appears 90% of times!
I made hard reset...no improvement.
I disabled smart diallings option : no improvement
I am running:
ROM 1.11.00 WWE
Radio 1.04.00
ExtROM 1.11.162
Please help
Saulo866
one more hint: it seems that the problem (phone muted) is solved if, after a hard reset, when the message appears "in 3 secs device will restart" I do a soft reset, with the stylus
In this way I prevent the extRom to be loaded.
In fact now my XDA IIi shows as:
ROM 1.11.00 WWE
Radio 1.04.00
ExtROM < blank>
What shall I think? That the ExtROM 1.11.162 is the culprit?
If so, can someone provide me the CAB for MMS (now Multimedia SMS disappear) so I can install them separately?
What other CRITICAL cabs are now missing?
3. Since extROM is not installed, is there a way to use this storage? How?
Thanks and waiting
Saulo866
I have gotten the same problem since this afternoon, but what you tried didn't work for me
Hope to find the solution for this problem (maybe update the rom), do you have any news?
I think that those cab's you're looking for are in the hidden rom...
Xanh
the problem was solved, I did my headset in and changed the volume while pulling it out and heard sound again...
Please help!
I have a Cingular SX66 that all of a sudden the major phone functions just quit.
Wheb I dial out it appears to be dialing out, shows a connection and connect time, singal strength is good but I can not hear the person on the other end nor can they hear me talking. On incoming calls, the phone rings yet again the same problem a mute connection. (mute is off). Everything else functions properly
If anyone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Phone is in its original configuration
ROM version: 1.20.10 WWE
ROM date: 10/08/04
Radio version: 1.02.10
Protocol version: 1337.35
ExtROM version: 1.20.115 WWE
Alan
try reflashing with a different ROM to see if it fixes it
I will try that, since the BA upgrade list does not show one specificto the Cingular SX66 is there one you would suggest?
Thanks Alan
this happened to me too just today.... i thought i got something broken inside so i disassembled my BA using the guide on wiki.. reheated all the ic's (insane) and then reassemble it... but nothin happens... nada..
one thing i noticed is when i reboot, sometime i see my version nmber on my radio... but sometimes i see is none..
R : none
G : none
B : 5.04.09 wwe
please help
Sometimes that happen with the BA and wm5 (r: none...). The solution is to soft reset it.
About the "can't hear" thing, did you install any new program and then the problem begun?
been investigating this.... it turned out to be a hardware fault.. my charger kind pulled out the thingie inside and i just cleaned it and do things with it..
i dont know jack about all the things inside (as you can see bout my post) but its working now have to test it again and again though...
Thanks Matthew,
I did try reflashing. 1st time with the official siemens rom upgrade and the 1.15 radio rom and it worked for a few calls then then quit so I reflashed with the 1.12 radio rom and it did the same thing - worked for a few calls and quit. It's like it goes into a mute function-cant hear ,cant talk. Yet every other function of the phone works and it shows good signal strength. The phone only has 92 incoming & 50 outgoing hours on it
Thanks for all the help from everyone , this is driving me crazy!!
I'll keep working on it
Update: Solved!
Try your simcard in another (non-pda, non smartphone) cellphone.
If there is still the same delay, then its a providerproblem and you should contact your service hotline. In my case, this was the solution!
If the delay only occurs on your WM5 / WM6 device:
Then THIS here is the solution for you:
check this registry key: HKCU\\Control Panel\Sounds\RingTone0\script
simply change existing "3"'s to zeros... this string defines what the phone should do when a call comes in (a=begin script, r=repeat script, p=play ringtone, v=vibrate, w=pause, f=flash, c=volume)
in most cases, this should have been the solution for you.
if there exit still any delay problems:
try a wma standard ringtone which is stored in the phones main memory (NOT storage card). If this is the solution, then transform your desired ringtone into this format and move it into mainmemory.
(Addtionally you should be sure that there is no silence at the beginning of the ringtone itself... of course *g*)
I hope this helpful, good luck

Hi!
It looks like an old problem is back: the famous 3-4sec. delay of ringtones on incoming calls: The caller hears 3 to 4 "rings" while the kaiser which receives the call stays sleeping/silent and starts ringing with a delay (as mentioned 3-4 "rings").
Device Info:
HardSPL, Super CID, unlocked
Radiorom R 1.27.12.11
Protokollversion: G 22.45.88.01H
D 1.56.00.00
ROM Version: 1.56.112.4 (09/01/07) (german/Austrian T-Mobile )
Anyone got a solution so far?
I tried tweaks2k2, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109&highlight=ring+delay and playing around with different ringtone files as well - but no improvement.
Any hints are highly appreciated.
PS: Beside this one, Kaiser is really rocking!
I think its pretty normal
Its not a GSM , kaiser must launch an application to start ringing, that just takes time, the more tools you install, the slower the application starts.
Try not to install to many programs in memory background, tweak your htc....
Of course you are right with the fact that Kaiser is no GSM and needs an app for that - but I am pretty sure that this is not the real problem: On Hermes we had the same problem which could be solved (see Schaps ROM) with the same apps / ringtones installed.

I have been using HelmiC's Clean/BigStorage version and I have had no problems with the ringtones. I have even tested it multiple times and it starts ringing at the very first ring. Do you have your ringtones on the phone or the storage card? If latter, try placing the ringtons on the phone (\My Documents\).
Hi! Thanks for your idea, und yes my ringtones are of course in the main memory for performance issues. As well I tried different formats (wav e.g.) with no improvement.
Any other statements to my problem? Are there other Kaiser ROMs which have the same problem or am i the only lucky one?
For your information: I tried tweaking the registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0
Originally, my Kaiser had av0pw3r as Scriptvalue... I tried apr and av0pr but no improvement...
Any suggestions / comments?
(PS: Yes: tried different ringtone formats, ringtones are NOT on the storage card)
I had the same problem on the 8525 using MP3 files as ringtones. I converted my ringtone to a WAV file and the delay was much less. On my 8925, I'm using the same WAV ringtone file (in main memory) and my delay is usually just one ring on the callers end.
Which ROM are you using?
(btw.: tried of course different formats - wav, wma, mp3 -> all the same delay)
Machine: Original HTC TyTN2
ROM: 1.56.407.3, german
RADIO: 1.27.12.11
Provider: T-Mobile Austria
Ringtone: I'm using the standard ringtone from rom.
On my machine there is a delay of 1 ring until the Kaiser turns on and with the 2nd ring the Kaiser plays its ringtone. So I think this is fully normal.
I think you are all on the wrong track re ringtones...
The OP's actualy problem is that his device takes too long to actually wake on receiving a call.
I would bet $10 that it will be down to an application installed on the device that is screwing with its phone app responsiveness.
so there is no delay on plain devices with htc rom?
Is the ringtone present in main memory or on the sdcard ?
Maybe moving the ringtone to the main memory solves a bit of the problem.
On my TytnII the problem doesn't occur but the ringtone is placed in the main memory.
Simple to prove whether it is a ringtone. Just change the ring to one of the built in ones. If the device still delays waking on incoming calls, then you know its something else...
As mentioned in the opening post, the ringtone is on main memory and i tried standard tones too.
So what about your delays? Do you have one or not on your ROMs?
Is there an SCI (Slot Cycle Index) equivalent on 3G systems? On my Apache through Verizon (CDMA), lowering the SCI (how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls) fixed this issue. So if there is an equivalent here, we should look into that.
Does anyone know how to get to the Kaiser's provisioning screen so I can check this out?
I have the same delay of 1 ring, then the kaiser wakes up and starts to play the ringtone.
Checked
I have just checked the delay on call arrives, and only 1 second.
I have optimized WMA (whichever little, better) file on \windows\rings
I my hermes i have more delay that in my Kaiser. And the cause in my hermes was related to the time the Hermes took to switch on. This time is lower in the Kaiser. When you press the On button, the Kaiser switch on quickly. See this posts on hermes section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1440403&postcount=266 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1461092&postcount=406 for refference.
If you have notifications on wake-up, this can cause delay on the switch on when a call arrives, so take care of this too.
So no significant delay for me.
Hmm... "Slot Cycle Index" is a nice hint - i will have a closer look to this.
For the other ideas: Of course i am using an optimized WMA ringtone - stored in main memory - too.
In fact i encounter this delay of 3 rings even when my phone is switched already on... - and i guess thats not normal.
I got a bunch of applications installed - but the same like on my Hermes where I didnt had these delays. So if there are no other ideas i will try to hardreset and figure out if the problems occur with a plain german ROM too.
If not, then i will install application by application and give feedback which one did the delay.
I didn't check it with calls yet. But with SMS i noticed that my screen goes on, and then after 2secs the sms-tone goes off. So there's definately a delay.
Hi All!
Currently having some issues with my Tytn.
1st problem!
Since upgrading to different Radio's - currently Dutty's V2. Hard spl 3.29
Receiving calls (incomming) only rings for about only 5 seconds. Which sometimes is not long enough for me to pick up. I cant find an option to extend the time on the phone before going to voicemail.I have had this problem since upgrading to 6.1. Tried every damn method with no luck... its driving me insane! Is anyone else having this problem?
2nd problem!
Since upgrading my Tytn to 6.1 with different roms my ringtones no longer works. when i go to phone setting and trying to select a ringtone a msg appear "this ring tone file is corrupted or unavailable"try reseting and using different roms with hard reset with no luck!
Any suggestion or how to resolve my issues ?
thanks in advance
Exactly what rom are you using?
And what radio(s) are you using?

Rom - Dutty's V2
Radio - 1.65.16.25
I also have the audio problem. It looks like it is missing some basic codecs . does anyone have a link for the standard codec for win mo 6.1
Similar issue with stock ROM
I've got the stock AT&T 6.1 ROM and I get the same issue, but not every time. It seems to happen to some callers, but not others, and I'm not sure it happens to the same callers all the time. When it happened this morning I heard one short ring, and the missed call icon lit up. The caller said it rang 5 times on her end. I was wondering if it had something to do with my forwarding settings with Youmail, but I haven't got around to checking.
