As I am using an o2 ROM on my phone the number for the voicemail is set wrong, is it possible to set the voicemail speed dial number by changing a setting in the registry of something
Thanks
its in the registry for sure. plz use search (or else I have to  ) I once even made a cab that set the number to my desire.
Thanks
I found it
Its under HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL, the key that needs changing is VoiceMailNumber_L1
Then do a soft reset

Has anyone figured out a registry tweak so that the keypad doesn't disappear after you dial a number on the Tilt. There must be a way to fix it - I notice when I push 1 for speed dial to call my voicemail the keypad remains on the screen, but when I dial any other number it disappears. This is one of the few annoyances I haven't been able to fix on my Tilt. Thanks.
Keep keypad when calling . . .

Excellent first question!
I don't know the answer, but I'd like to know, too.
Obviously you can hit the left softkey for "Keypad" but that's an extra step that one might prefer not to have to do, but rather have the keypad remain showing, and have the left softkey option be "Call Status"
If you call a lot of numbers where you have to enter more numbers when prompted, this might be the preferred default.
No one knows? I'd love to change this as well.
This is the first "fix" i need to do.
HTC should sort this out and provide a fee down load. They are silly to think it would not be a problem .
There is a fix etc.. but its part of a big bundle of stuff that scares most "newbies" away.
Can someone not make a simple fix just for this problem with a very easy method to download and set up etc
I am sure that many members do not have the technical minds of most of you!
I use att and my speed dial 1 used to dial my voicemail, now it does not and I cannot seem to program it under the speedial menu, I can only program numbers greater than 2. Anyone have any ideas?
in dial pad, press 1 and hold it until it dials out.
I think he's saying that doesn't work now... how can he fix it.
go into settings - phone - voice mail and text messaging - get settings, then make sure you have the voicemail number set as this is associated with speed dial 1...

exactly, i was just going to answer that, but you beat me to it.
whatever number you enter in that setting will be set to number 1 speed dial. you may need to check with your carrier to get the correct number.
its already set in there, thats the funny thing, the voicedial number is in there but when I hold down 1 nothing happens!
I had problems with Active sync and resynced and wrote everything cfrom the computer to the PPC.
WHen I did it zapped my voicemail speed dial #.
How do I get it back
HELP
the only way I could in the past was HARD reset.
Try this
Just start the dialer, go to menu:speed dial. Go to menu:new. Create #1 voice dial from there?
The number T-Mobile gave me for voice mail is 123.
Thanks but Nope.
I already tried that.
#1 is not an option
Also aparently Voice mail is not backed up in the speed dials with PIM Backup

Think I found it in the registry. I'll assume you know all the caveats about editing the registry. Use a registry editor and go to:
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Vmail
PhoneNumber1 = 123 (or whatever AT&T uses for voicemail)
Hope that works for you.
Nope that is not the number
I ended up reflashing
But still would like to know where the speed dials are kept
Hi there,
I need help on how to modify the Phone dialer settings to the following problem:
While using a callthrough option of my company phone system, i dial into a special number, then after getting a signal, need to dial ** (2x the DTMF for "*") and the short dial code.
This worked flawless with my Hermes. But using the Diamond, i only get 1 "*", each next press creates "+", "p" and again "*", but without sending out the DTMF tone.
Is there any way to tweak the dialer to enable multiple "*" DTMF sends?
BTW, with the "#" key, there is no changing, but i definetely need the "*" key to work.
Anyone offer a solution pls?
Thank you

I am on GiffGaff which is a virtual network of O2 in the U.K. As a result the dialer thinks my voicemail is 901 rather than 443. I wouldnt normally care but i have a persistant notification to check my voicemail. I am unable to change the voicemail number in the dialer for some reason as the setting is greyed out. Instead i found a voicemailconf.xml file under /system/etc, and there also one in /etc.
This is a lookup dictionary for all the networks and their voicemail numbers, ive tried editiing the O2 one to 443 in both files but after restarting it goes back to 901. Really annoying what am i doing wrong, now do i make this permantent?
Dialer - menu - settings - voicemail settings - voicemail number then edit and save
