Hi,
I have only just started using my XDA IIi and was wondering if it was possible to recover my old contacts - which i was only able to save as a large v-card file from my old phone. Is there any way of getting the XDA to read the file properly or do I have to input each one manually?!?
Also, where can i get hold of pugs O2 Rom - I am currently with Orange and need to remove the O2 software!
Thanks.
ROM version. 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date. 01/27/05
Radio Version. 1.00.00
Protocol. 1337.39
ExtROM. 1.11.171 WWE
Don't worry!
I had an hour to kill so entered the details manually...
Oh well.
When I moved my contacts from my old phone (and it was OLD, a Nokia 3410), the majority of my contacts were saved on to the SIM (by default), but the few I had saved on the phone's memory I had to transfer across. All the other contacts which were resident on my SIM, I just transferred into the phone memory using the phone's supplied SIM tools. Piece of cake really, the only problem being that the phone imported all of the contacts' names as last name only (so if I had a contact called James Brown, for example, it now shows up on my XDA as James Brown - which you might think is ok, except it shows names entered properly as Lastname, Firstname (so it should show up as Brown, James) - it bunged the entire name in as the contact's last name.
Oh well, not really an issue. But yeah, if you had a phone which held the contacts as anything other than standard SIM entries, manual entry might just be your only alternative

I have just reflashed the firmware on my UK Orange SPV M2000 after porting my mobile operator over to virgin mobile. i did this so i could remove the Operator customisations which were just taking up ram, and also to see if i could make my phone more reliable (one of my biggest bugbears is not being able to use Wifi without a soft reset) as a result i can switch on and of bluetooth and wifi at will without any errors, and i havent performed a soft reset because of a problem in 6 days (i have soft resetted after installing some programs as it was required by the prog)
I achieved by first downloading ftp://xda:/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Roms/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom.rar and removing the Radio_.nbf file and flashing that to the phone.
once that was done i did a hard reset then flashed radion rom 1.13 as described here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Radio_1.13_Upgrade
I then downloaded all the files from here ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAn...ERK_1.4X_002/I-Mate_PDA2K_Ext_ROM_140176_WWE/ into a directory on my PC
I then deleted
Default_ImateV112.002.cab -> dont need it as i havent got an imate so dont need imate email
Default_Caller_ID_BA_AKU26_RC20.CAB -> i will explain why in a minute
Default_Fax_V2.09_WWE_0720.CAB -> havent got a need for faxes
Default_SkypeForPocketPC.CAB -> this is pants and so is skype
and then i then added cabs for the following programs prefixing them with the Default_ so they would install after hard reset
Voice command 1.5 for Phone edition -> i think every one uses this
Photo Contacts Pro v 3.01 -> This is fantastic beats the IA caller ID hands down
I then used the extrom unlocker and deleted all the files in the extended rom and then copied my downloaded files into it. the then locked and hid the extended rom again and then performed a hard reset
once that was done i added in the Virgin GPRS and MMS settings (If anyone wants help with this part for virgin settings let me know as i am working on creating a CAB file with these settings) and renamed device and added owner information.
There are two problems now, the first i can fix, the camera raises the backlight to full and then keeps it that way. i just deleted camera.exe from the windows directory and then replaced it with the camera app that was originally on the device (make a backup of this file b4 you start)
The only problem that is left is a problem that happened with WMP9 and WMP10 if music is playing and you close WMP then your device loses all sound. i dont know of a workaround for this, but i make sure i pause any music before i close the app, not a big thing really
I then loaded on these apps mainly into the storage memory except that specifically request you install them into main memory
SPB Pocket Plus 2.5
SPB weather
SPB Diary
Ewallet
Tomtom Navigator 5
Microsoft Reader
Pocket Mechanic
and last but not least my favourite game Virtual Pool Mobile v1.6
This doesnt sound like many apps but it suits my needs perfectly for the moment.
I then took a full backup onto SD........
and viola one ultra stable Orange SPV M2000
i hope it works for you too
I would do what i did when installing apps and install one at a time and test especially task managers and today screens as these use up driver memory, this is where the problem with the WIFI and bluetooth starts
and in case i dont see you good afternoon and good evening and goodnight (watched the trueman show again! )
Interesting and well detailed,
I then used the extrom unlocker and deleted all the files in the extended rom and then copied my downloaded files into it. the then locked and hid the extended rom again and then performed a hard reset

fuzzy,
Wonder if you can attach the camera.exe file here? TIA!

What i mean is i run the extended rom unlocker tools on the device by selecting unhide & unlock and then through activestink browse to the /extended rom folder and then delete the files and then copy the extended rom files from the pc and put in thier place.
i hope that clarifies it for you
and yes i can attch the file for download, but its on my other comp and because of a failed raid array i havent replaced yet it takes 20 mins to boot, so i will do it tommorow
Thanks, fuzzy. Looking forward to that
fuzzy,
Are you able to extract that exe file yet ?
Nvm, fuzzy.
Found the camera.exe HERE.
Hi Fuzzy,
Where did you get the cabs from for:
Voice command 1.5 for Phone edition ->
Photo Contacts Pro v 3.01 ->
Cheers
Yohanson
i got Voice command 1.5 with IRC on #pocketwarez on EFNET servers
and as for photo contacts i couldn't get it free so i ended up buying it (first pocketpc software i have bought ever, and to be blunt it was worth it for something that is used every time you recieve a call)
I have also incresed the number of programs by upgrading to latest versions of SPB programs and also added SPB time and SPB weather and i still have no problems with Wifi. it starts first time every time.
I have just bought 5 more of these phones but O2 XDA IIs so i will reflash these the same and then flog on ebay.
every one else who has one of these phones is jelous because it has been reliable as a rock since i did this, and i have still not experieced any problems since the flash, and i have not performed one soft reset because of a problem. i know a lot of you wont believe it but its true it has been rock solid for me. so i will test the same procedure on the five phones when get them and see if there are any differences
Great stuff!
I did something a little similar here.
I took the latest firmware and Extended firmware.
I then went through it and deleted everything I don't need.
Splash Screen, Clearvue stuff, Cingular settings, album, etc etc etc.. Although these would be neat programs... let's be honest... when it comes to the Blue Angel, less is more.
So right now, I'm pretty stable.
I don't put anything in the Protected ROM. I think a lot of apps don't like it.
We'll see how this goes!
Mike
Since I do not want to hard reset - what are the files that I need to remove in order to completely uninstall IA Caller ID ? - it does not show up on my installed apps to remove so I need to do it manually - TIA

hey Guys, i think you guys have done an amazing job creating WM5 for BlueAngel - my special thanks to Mamaich.
i have one issue - if anyone can help:
i have a little over 500 contacts in my Qtek 9090 - and i have been trying to delete ALL - but there is no option to do that - what do i do and how can i delelte them all?
i even tried taking the battery out - draining the backup battery - but NOTHING - they are still there!!
you see i was a JAM user and then i wanted WM5 - so i bought a used Qtek9090 [totally rundown] - and tried it with WM5 - which WORKED AMAZINGLY WELL!!!! - so now i went out and bought a NEW Imate PDA2K.
but i cant sell off the Qtek till i get rid of all my contacts in it.
can anyone help please? my email is:
Using the soft keyboard, do Ctrl-A; that should select all the contacts. Then use the menu to delete. I've done this in WM2003; should work just as well in WM5 since Ctrl-A has been the select all code going back to at least Windows 3.1.
Unfortunatley that doesn't work under WM5.0.
Unfortunately that doesn't work under WM5.0.
But there is an easy way of deleting all the contacts at once. But this method will also get rid of all you appointments too, so consider yourself warned.
Just place your device on the cradle and then explore the device through ActiveSync's File Explorer.
Navigate to the root by clicking on 'My Windows Mobile-Based Device' and locate a file called pim.vol and rename it to whatever name and soft-reset the device and that's it.
Once you boot the device, the System will create a new empty pim.vol file and now you can backup the old file to your computer for safe keeping. That's your PIM backup that you can use on other WM5.0 devices if you want.
Regards,
Rayan
hey thanx man - i will just now try and let you know if it works for me.
it worked!!!
hey thank you soo much - worked like a charm - FINALLY deleted all the contacts.!!
theres one more issue: the emails i had created to check the outlook - i deleted them fine. they arent there any longer. BUT..... my today screen is still showing them and the number of un-read mails. when i click on them nothing happens or look for them thru outlook on the Pocket PC - but they arent there! - how do i get ride of this?
any suggestions?
Also the text msgs arent deleting - i have cleared the inbox - 3 times and very time i reboot - they come back - WHY?
Hi guys,
I would like you all to take a look at the program Ultimate Theft Alert v3 (http://www.pocketpc-live.com/ultimate-theft-alert-v3-for-pocket-pcs-2.html).
This program is an anti-theft program for your WM5 Device.
I was one of the 1st users of it and since then it made much improvement and has some real cool feautures (the developer is someone that actually listens to his customers!).
When a new (unregistred in the program) SIM Card is entered in your device the program sends 2 Text Messages to a predifined number (you can add more numbers). One text message has a predifined message (that you can adjust in the program) and the 2nd text message sends the IMSI number of the SIM Card to your device.
The program has 2 extra plug-ins for now:
1) Doing a hard-reset after inserting a non-registred SIM Card
2) Copy all the SIM Cards contacts to the predifined number(s)
This program is in my opinion the most perfect anti theft alert for your device!!
Just check it out....
Regards,
Molski
p.s. UTA v3 only costs $12,99 ....in my opinion very cheap for a $400 device
Damm - Wish I'd seen this a week or two ago!
This sucks.
My phone was stolen 2 days ago by some loser, and all my data, hacks, tweaks, and software on it has to be reinstalled (of course) . What really P's me off though, is that I have no clue who took it, and I'd really like to be able to get back at the jerk for stealing it. Sigh. Well, I have my new replacement (Cingular shipped it FedEx yesterday and it arrived today), so I have to get busy w/ it and getting it set up. Thankfully, it is a G3, like my old phone.

Then you sure can imagine how important software like this can be!
I'm glad you got a replacement Wizard (and also am glad because it's a G3 ).
I like UTA a lot and build my own cab for it and included it in my ExtRom, so after a hard-reset it's installed automatically

i have ultimate protect on my phone. and i like. its pretty good.

How did it get stolen? If you don't mind me asking?
Im curious... What would you be able to do with the information from the program in the event that your PDA is stolen??? What are the chances of getting it back???
Revenge?
If the program uses the new SIM to send SMS to a number you specified, and passes any phone numbers held in that SIM as part of the mesage content, then you have the phone number of the thief and all his contacts!
You could call him up and ask for your phone back.
You could call all his contacts and ask them to persuade him to give your phone back.
You also get the IMSI number of the SIM card. This is what network operators use to block stolen phones. You may be able to persuade the operator to block the thief's SIM.
Few problems I noticed
1) I can't delete a SIM card Number from the list.
2) Except for the Hard Reset Option under EXTRAS, everything else is greyed out including "Send SIM Contacts and CALL LOG Details"
3) I know how to add this to the Ext. ROM but do I add the UTA.exe file under Windows to it or the Installation CAB. Also where is the DATA file located, the one that holds the SIM card entries and the Alert SMS Numbers?
this program has an option for you to install into ext rom?
cuz it states it can survive a hard reset.
thanks!
Guys, how do you add it to the EXT rom? please assist.
on WM6 (schaps 3.30c german) UTA 3 pops up an error when inserting an unregistered simcard. "systemeigene ausnahme...." somekind of exception error. The sms is beeing sent - but the thief would see the errormessage.
Any suggestions?
Uninstalling
To all the techies,
Could anyone please let me know how to uninstall the ultimate theft alert as i want to format my storage card. If I format it will there be any stray files left on my device memory and if yes then could it confict with the phone.
Thanks
TK
that is an amazing idea i will be checking it out that seems very smart and im willing to bet with my silly brain i will misplace my wizard for sure haha

Good morning, I've found this tutorial on their forum:
"Extended ROM Installation [v35!]
If you would like to know what's Extended ROM, read my article here.
Please note that Extended ROM installation is not possible on all devices. Different devices use a different Autorun Method. Autorun is sometimes a small application that tells the device what softwares need to be installed in what order automatically after a hard-reset. Some have a feature of copying files whereas the others stimulate cab files to be installed.
Before you proceed, its advised to know what are the files and in what locations should they be for the software to work.
In Windows folder:
UTAv35.exe - Core Module
Tapilib.dll - Resource Library File
Uta_confige.dll - Configurations File
Rdui.dat - Registration File
VbLocation.dll - Resource Library File
Uta_adn2.0.exe - Core Add-on Module
In Windows/StartUp folder:
UTAv35.lnk - Shortcut to core module
The above files when in place, the software will work as registered/activated and with configurations! Depending upon your device, you need to make these files available in place, either via custom cab file created with third-party softwares such as WinCE Cab Manager or via Direct Copy file method from Extended ROM after Unlocking it!
In some devices, the stupid signing security warning appears, preventing to start the application directly. In that case, additionally you need install this file http://www.PocketPC-Live.com/ds.cab Through Extended ROM installation in the first place.
Good news for forum users: If you have your posts count over 50, we shall help you make the custom cab file ourselves Happy participating... Even if your post count is below 50, don't worry, we will always try helping you with your queries here. Just reply to this topic and we shall be glad to assist you further.

Hi,
I am new owner of a Kaiser, and new to the forum.
I am trying to move from a Blackberry as I want to be able to use 3G and offline SatNav.
Blackberry (T-Mobile UK) and TomTom set up and working just fine.
I have migrated 14,000 messages from the Blackberry to MS Outlook and then tried to synchronise with the Kaiser. After almost 5 hours, it completed the sync and then gave me a message that device memory was critically low.
I understand that messages and contacts are stored in cemail.vol and pim.vol. File size was 13 meg and 8 meg respectively.
The phone then became so slow that it became necessary to remove the messages. HTC's helpline was useless ! In the end I deleted the cemail and pim files.
There seems to be no way to move the message store to the memory card.
Is there some trick or registry edit that can redirect the message store to the card instead of the device ????
Also, any SIM-free unlocking codes ?
I am an amateur, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Why the hell do you need 14,000 old messages transfered to your new device?
Custel why do you always have to have a smart answer. If you can't provide a solution then STFU already.
Any disregarding Custels retarded post here is a link that may help you:
http://blogs.msdn.com/mpoulson/archive/2006/01/09/510839.aspx
You'll need a program like Total Commander or PHM RegEdit to change the value.
PHM regEdit is free do a google search for it. Follow instructions and it'll save emails to storage card.

gqstatus0685,
A belated Thank You !
PHM Regedit is a very nifty programme indeed.
The link you provided was for WM5, but it did get me heading in the right direction and I eventually found another post on this site with the WM6 reg keys.
I did get all the mail moved from my laptop to the storage card. However, it slowed down the access too much. Even with 90 Meg of free device memory, it took up to 14 seconds to open a message on the card.
T-Mobile sent me another Kaiser, but same problem........
For the moment, (both) Kaisers have gone back and its the Blackberry for work and a Compact 3 Artemis for Sat Nav/general use.
I'm hoping the new HTC Diamond with its faster processor will resolve the problem. I'll get one when the price comes down a bit.
Again, thanks for your help.
Hi All, I know this is a big ask, but is there anyone out there who could help me please to extract/export/whatever all of the SMSs and MMSs from my now quite old stock standard HTC HD7 phone that has Windows Phone 7.8 running on it? The about screen says it is/has:
Model: HTC HD7 T9292
OS version: 7.10.8862.144
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51201.728
Hardware revision number: 0002
… (details of radio, not included)
Bootloader version: 5.12.2250.0(135240)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
I've only in the past week (finally) converted from a Windows Phone (Lumia 950) to a Galaxy Note 9, and was able to transfer all of the SMS/MMS from it, which I've been able to keep since moving to WP8. These are all the messages since I had to move from the HD7, i.e. the HD7 has all previous SMS/MMS messages. I'd really like these migrated too as there are many messages in there that have significant sentimental value to me.
If it will help, I'm prepared to pay for this assistance.
The app I used to transfer the messages from the Lumia 950 to the Note 9 is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smsbackup.leonardocezary.smsimporter.pro,. which did a fantastic job.
For my desktop PC, I have a HP WS that is running the latest version of Windows 10 Pro. From research done so far, I've managed to install Zune and the HD7 connects ok with it.
But after that it gets a bit too complicated for me to do on my own. I tried installing the Windows Phone 7 SDK, but it complained that some .NET 4 components were incompatible and asked me to uninstall them, which I didn't want to do in case that stuffed up other things I'm running on the PC.
If anyone is willing to take this on as a project, I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
wow, it was all a long time ago (6+ years) and the brain cells are not what they used to be
I cant seem find the thread where I mentioned that I did this yet (the xda user history doesnt go back that far)
I have some old files but also trying to remember what I did lol.
Basically, I had an sms backup program that would output to a formatted file which I manipulated using UltraEdit until it was the same format as the "sms backup & restore" (on the playstore) program I use on Android.
I had some plans to automate it but gave up on windows 7 and it just became a novelty to dual boot it on my old HD2.
Do you have an app that can backup your sms's to some kind of formatted file?
EDIT: how about this? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346276
more likely this? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448197
haha, just found it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26338246&postcount=85
and the next few posts.
As long as you can get some formatted text version of your messages fomr WP7, you will be able to re-format it to suit backup and restore (eventually )
I think there was also some problem in the way time was recorded and had to convert from unix epoch time (just to make it more interesting)
Try to check that the contact names are in the file otherwise you will have to a search/replace of the phone numbers.
I would offer to have a go with your file but I understand that there may be a lot of personal data that you really dont want to be sending out.
good luck
Hi!
I home you don't actually hope I remember something!!
well, actually...
Digging in my old files, I found a bunch of xml with all SMSs.
Looking for the xml name on google, I remebered!
https://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-backup-restore-wp7-sms-export-to-pc-smsbackup-homebrew/
this application was the one I used to export it from the phone, then I created a small app to convert it in some db format.
