I've read the Getting Started section but im still stuck!!

Hi,
I just bought a year old T-Mobile MDA111 from Germany and need to change the operating system to WWE. I downloaded the Getdevicedata.exe file but cant seem to get it to work (probably since i dont understand german!). I tried copying it to ( \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\XDA-Tools\ ) but couldnt find \XDA-tools. Even when i saved it in programs and ran it from there it did not work.
I managed to figure out the following though:
Model: PH20B
Language: GER
Oerator code: T-MOB 101
ROM: 1.06.01
Ext. ROM: 1.06.115
Radio: 1.00.00
Could anyone help me!!

I managed to find the DeviceData.txt which gave me the following - PH20B O B GER R T-MOB101 1.06.01 01 1.06.115 1.00.00 00.00
I have now downloaded the following : BA_TMUK_14200_112_11300_Ship
I also managed to use editfix.bat to edit the correct details and i dont think i saw any errors.
BUT.... once i tried running BAUpgrade, i got this error - Radio Image file checksum error
What now??

The 1.42 rom that you downloaded is a type II rom thus the editfixbat will not work (you will get an ERROR in the dos window).
The best is just follow the upgrage instructions of the 1.42 rom as per wiki, it will work and you will end up with a WWE device that is branded by that operator.
Then all you need to do is play in wiki the extended rom kitchen.

Since that post, i tried updating to the current German T-Mobile ROM and this was successful.
Do you think i would be able to manage just the same if i download the Dutch or UK version and work with those? I am currently downloading the following:

Dear MDA111user, i hate bothering people but you seem to be the one who can really help me!
I followed the upgrade instructions as per wiki as you told me but i am still getting errors. Do you know which would be the best ROM to use since i need to change language from GER to WWE?

There is no BEST rom, some of us like the 1.31 others 1.40 and others the 1.42. Can't tell you what to do only what I have done, and I have had them all.
Can't help you on the errors unless you tell me what they are. The wiki update page is tried and tested and works, well did for me and many others.
The getting started was written based on Type I roms, Now we have type II and we bypass the county code error with the MA_noID....exe file.
So if you want more help you need to tell us what you have done and what went wrong.

I'm new on this so be kind please
I have a MDA Vario (great pda) on english
ROM 2.17.7.2 WWE
i do want to flash it to 2.18 on Dutch, when i do i get a VENDER ID error.
So i used Awizard to unlock the CID first en then option W to flash the rom. I use 1.13 beta 2.
But when i select it (optionW) there are no ROM's availlable i have extraxt the ROM package in the ROM dir.
It is a nk.nbf file and when i am reading other threads i seem to need a *. NBA file ??
Anyone have a clue ?

Just unlock the CID and upgrade it with the Rom Update Package (the executable with the Rom and update program).
Should work without any problems.

Hi,
I have a Vodafone VPA Compact II (HTC Wizard) in German.
I will relocate to USA and I want to update my phone OS etc. into English (Cingular ROM).
I know that I have to first unlock my phone and I used both Lokiwiz02b and aWizard 1.3 beta 2 in order to unlock my phone. And these programs let me know that my phone is unlocked.
"Your phone is now unlocked...."
I have tried both "U. Unlock" and "C. CID Unlock (SuperCID)".
Than I have tried to install Cingular ROM "RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe" but I still get error msg 294.
Than I tried other Cingular file "Cingular_Custom_AKU2.3_Combo_Installer_V1.exe" and it was installed without any problem. But I have still German in my phone. As I understand this file installs only Extended ROM of Cingular.
Now I need to install an English ROM and when possible a Cingular one.
Any tip?

I have found a solution.
Lokiwiz02b does not work for AKU2 ROMs. I've just downgraded my ROM into an older version and than applied Lokiwiz02b CID unlock with success.
Than I upgraded my ROM into new Cingular 8125 one and works great!

My device is G3 and WM5 installed on it.
I want to upgrade my device to the latest available ROM and want to install WM5 or WM6a or Vista on it.I searched on the forum and found too many articles and m really confused how to start and wat to choose.I never upgrade my device before and m newbie in it.
Plz if anyone can suggest me the exact links and the tutorials posted on this forum.Also how could i know if my device is CID Unlocked?

first,plz always post full data of your phone,although you have posted the Device info,but you have not posted the actual data IPL/SPL...? of your phone,which determines the DOC chip of your phone,so post the IPL/SPL...?
As you say that you are using wm5,it must be T-Mobile official Rom,which come pre-installed on the phone,therefore your phone is SIM/CID locked.
In order to upgrade to a newer and latest wm6 Rom,it's necessary to first SIM/CID unlock your phone.
Since you say that you have a G3 device,then to read and understand how to unlock a G3 with IPL/SPL 1.xx(AKU 1) device,check the below link:-

hi...my IPL is 1.08 and SPL is 2.26..my Phone is CID locked..but SIm is unblocked as i can use any sim card with this mobile...i downloaded the CID unlock utility and now want to perform CID unlock process.But wat to do after that? from where i can download the excat and updated Rom for my device.And can i use any Rom on my device? like O2 Rom or other Rom available in this forum?? Plz advice...

First of all you'll have to CID unlock your phone to upgrade to any latest wm6 roms.Read and fully understand the guide and procedure of CID unlocking in the thread which I already gave you in the above post already,you'll find there all the instructions and lokiwiz02b unlocking tool download and all the Roms (Button's Rom 1.05 and T-mobile 2.26) download links,which are required to cid unlock your device.Only after Cid unlock you'll be able to upgrade to any wm6 Rom.
But if you like to have the wm5 rom,which already installed on your device then there's no need to unlock and upgrade to another wm5 rom,as you already got one.but if you want to upgrade to wm6 rom than I'm afraid you'll have to cid unlock the device and upgrade.Once again I'm posting the link for the guide to unlocking:-

Well! as i see your phone has an IPL 1.08 and SPL 2.26,and it's required to downgrade to IPL/SPL 1.xx,therefore as you already have IPL 1.08,I think you shudn't have to flash Button's Rom 1.05 to downgrade to IPL 1.xx, you can download lokiwiz02b and try to cid unlock,it may be successful, but as it shows SPL 2.26,it may not be successful as both IPL/SPL 1.xx are required,but if it doesn't cid unlock with IPL/SPL 2.26 at first attempt,than you'll have to Flash Button's Rom 1.05 to downgrade to both IPL'SPL 1.xx

Does that mean that ive got a G4 and do i need to unlock the CID
After it is complete, your device will automatically reboot. The IPL version will be 2.21.0001 and the SPL will be 2.21.olip. If you see this then HardSPL was successfully flashed to your device.

Just check your device if it is G3 or G4, then either Unlock or HardSPL/SoftSPL your device and flash one of the Wizard English WM5/WM6 ROMs available.

"INVALID VENDOR ID"
plz help!!!
ok i think my deice is G3 bucause when i sturt up my device ISP/SPL is 2.16. is this G3???

You DID NOT CID unlock your device.

If you have downloaded official Rom from it's website and still can't upgrade then use the 'ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID' replace it with the ruu in the official rom,you can get this from the below link.:-

i,ll try to update but language is still russian an ROM is still same.
I download thes file: RUU_NoID.exe, then i download an oficial ROM, then i replace the original ROM's RUU with RUU_NoID. operation begin, but after and of this nothing change.
ha can i change language for English? can anyone help me an give me a links of this files vich i can use???
my IPL/SPL is 2.16 and i think it is G3???
plz today i must do this i need help!!!

Well,I'll suggest you go for the second option,unlock your phone and upgrade to any latest wm6 custom build Roms.Once you get your phone unlocked,it stays unlocked and gives you the opportunity to keep on upgrading to the latest Roms and features.Read the stickies on unlocking and upgrading and do it correctly,I'm sure you'll have much more benefits and enjoyment.

ok,grrrrrr8,if you have managed to downgrade to ipl/spl 1.xx,its time to SIM/CID unlock the phone,read the 'definitive guide for unlocking by Dr.Puttingham and download the lokiwiz-2b tool and do the method exactly as stated in the guide to Sim/CID unlock your phone,after successful unlock upgrade to ipl/spl 2.xx by downloading and flashing T-mobile 2.26 to the phone,only then you can upgrade to any latest wm6 rom,as its required to have CID unlocked phone and ipl/spl 2.xx for upgrade to wm6.
