Compus - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hello
I`d like to know if there is some compus available for qtek 9100

Could you explain what a compus is? Use babblefish to get a translation.

I'm sure that the qtek could be used on any college campus. No, it wouldn't be considered pompous.

I hope to sluice a bulbous pamplemousse.
V

Seeing your location of Lisbon, I'll forgive the misspelling and assume you mean 'compass'. In any case, I don't know for sure but since a compass requires a magnet or some form of mechanical sensor which I don't believe resides inside the case so there is no software solution.
You could get a GPS receiver which would then be able to send location data to the phone and you could use the compass feature that is on lots of GPS software. Actually, I'm not really sure how it works...as you'd think the compass would be relative to the receiver, not the phone...I think it also takes into account your direction of travel if you're moving.

GPS - turn off static navigation

Is it possible turn off static navigation in GPS in Kaiser?
It is important for walk navigation and necessary for geocaching.
Hello,
I suppose that you can do it with this
http://w5.nuinternet.com/s660100031/SirfTech.htm
pt_t830
no, you cant.. this works with sirf chip only
in this time, you can't turn it off...
Is there really no way to turn off static nav on the Kaiser? I've upgraded from a Mio a701 which was great for geocaching, but this is just no good unless I can disable static nav.
What chipset is the GPS? I assume it's not Sirf III then?
I see it's a Qualcomm chipset and it doesn't look like it can be turned off. How stupid, makes the GPS useless for geocaching.
I'm really disappointed by the chipset in the Kaiser too, from what I've heard. I don't have mine in hand yet, but I've been doing lots of reading on it the last week while I build a list of Palm->WM programs for migration from my long time platform. At least until Palm gets off their ass.
I already have a Holux 236, I suspect what I'll do is use the Kaiser GPS for navigation and the Holux for geocaching. I'll see how that works out.
Little surprise that you jump the ship, khaytsus.
Not only poorer performance Qualcomm GPS chipset vs. SIRF III chipset, but also you will miss some of great palm applications e.g takephone, callrec, and ptunes.
I'm not too bothered about the 3d performance a lot of other people complain about, but being able to disable static nav is something that should not have been overlooked. It would have swayed me from buying a Kaiser in the first place, even though it's pretty much perfect for what I want apart from this issue.
(This message has been translated as Google Translate)
I had the TyTN II (Kaiser) in the main purchased for geocaching. I am very disappointed now appears that static navigation can not be disabled.
I hope that HTC soon gives a solution.
I have to ask what does this Static Navigation do? and what benifit would you have from turning it off?
When you are not moving (or moving slowly) it stops updating your GPS position. This stops apps like tomtom spinning the map round when youre at traffic lights, but if you need to find a precise point on foot as in Geocaching, it makes it very difficult becuse you have to keep walking fairly quickly for the direction arrow to show.

It seems fine to me, Kaiser can detect slow walking speed quite accurately such as 1 or 2 mph. If you walk slower than 1mph, it can't tell.
For the SirfIII chip device with SN on (my ETEN M700), it ignores any speed under 3mph and keep you at the same position. With SN off then you are looking at another problem, your position jumps around even when you stand still.
I assume you have never tried geocaching, otherwise you would see the problem. You often need to stand still and let the gps average your position to determine exactly how far away you are. Before anyone chimes in saying it is only accurate to ~10m anyway, my Mio a701 would get me to within 2-3m every time.
When you place a geocache, you need to have your coords spot on. The only way to do this is to leave the gps averaging for a while. I use GPS Tuner for this, but it is useless on the Kaiser.
"Position jumping around" is what you need for on foot accurate GPS nav, but not good for tomtom etc. All I want is the option to choose for myself, which unlike Sirf III, is currently not available for this crappy Qualcomm GPS.
What is static navigation: click here
What I tried to turn static navigation of without any result (but it works on other divices with the same gps-chipset: SiRFstar III):
SiRFTech
SiRFDemo
MMSirf setup (direct download)
So I hope there follows also a solution for the Kaiser!
There is one solution...get a bluetooth GPS receiver with a SIRFIII chip. Not ideal, I agree, but for the most part I use the bluetooth GPS for geocaching and hiking both because it can turn off SN and because it's just a much more accurate chip in general. The internal works ok for hiking, but is more ideally suited for driving applications.
@Geinponem: it doesn't have a SirfStar III gps chipset. That is part of the problem.

See here the specifications of MY TyTN II (this is the site where I bought the divice). Sorry its a Dutch site.
Here and here another Dutch sites.
Is the information wrong on this sites? Or is the build-in chipset not in every country the same?
BTW: where do you hold your BT-GPSr by geocaching. Can you put it in your pocket?
I don't get it, on my Kaiser the GPS continues updating normally even when static, as if I leave the phone on a table the position will always change a little at each reading.
Updating of the current position is great!
The problem is that the direction of the destination by low speed is not updated. In programs like GPSTuner the destination arrow is 'frozen' then.
That's totally normal. A GPS can't give you a direction (heading) when it doesn't move. If it gives you one it's just derived from the position error (even if the GPS is stationary, there will be a little position error between consecutive readings, and the direction the GPS gives will be the one between those points) so it means nothing at all.
By the way, in GPS Tuner by default there's a filter that ignores new GPS data if speed is under something like 2km/h. So even if the GPS does give info, the program discards it. You need to turn that off in the GPS options.

I've found the Tilt's GPS to be VERY accurate, in fact, it beats some of the stand-alone GPS units out there. I live in a very rural area, and it finds my house EXACTLY on the money, I am very impressed!
Edit-I see a lot in this thread who don't have their location or carrier in their posting info, it would help a lot if we knew that

???
Did HTC or XDA devs publish a spec sheet? Did anyone ask this question before? Did Google develop the art of searching?
There's a LOT on this and if you only look at the specs, you'll know. In short, it does have GPS and it is usable without an external one.

seriously...I means SERIOUSLY???? Have you ever looked at the back of your Tilt where it says GPS?? or did you never read specs on the tilt or are you unable to understand english??
LEARN TO SEARCH!!!
Durrr.....why am I hungry? It doesnt say anywhere on my body that its hungry.
Yes, the ATT Tilt has GPS
It does have a built-in GPS. This same issue threw me off at first too, until I figured it out..
You flamers shouldn't flame the OP. Actual Kaiser and TyTnII owners may already know about the GPS, but the ONLY part of the "AT&T Tilt" documentation referring to GPS is the brief mention of being able to get TeleNav. I know this because I have one. The specs/box mention that it has GPS, but that's all.
Now if I remember correctly, the GPS is COM3 or COM4 by default (unless you changed it in Start->Settings->System->External GPS). I changed mine to COM0 just for the hell of it, and it functions normally.
TomTom should work just fine, set it to 4800 baud, and try it with each COM port available in the options. It sometimes takes a few minutes for TomTom to display that the GPS is in "connected, but no valid signal yet" mode.
If you want to be able to use your Tilt's GPS as an external for some other device, the best thing I've found is GPSGate, but any COM-port splitter should work (as long as it presents a new Bluetooth and/or Serial service)
GPSGate is also useful since you can tell it to log your GPS data to any URL, à la those logging/who-stole-my-phone programs. It can also multiplex the GPS port for use by multiple programs (but I think that functionality is also built into WM and is called the "GPS Intermediate Driver", but I may be mistaken)
Hope this helps!

It is definatly listed in the specs of the phone and it says it on the back of the phone. Why would you consider getting a phone without looking at the specs of it first??
Well I didnt' come to this forum to get this kind of response...and no I have never looked at the back of my phone...I let others do my dirty work

GPS stopped working for my ATT TILT
my GPS was working fine. my tomtom was working fine, googlemaps was working fine. then all of a sudden a few weeks ago it just stopped working! usually i would use GPS test to get a working signal and then I would run tomtom and it would work. a few months ago it started to take a much longer time to acquire a valid gps signal (it would take a few to 5 minutes). but now it just doesnt find one at all! is there anything i could do to try to fix this? what com port should it be on? im thinking i mightve changed one of the settings unknowingly. please help!

Just bought the ATT Tilt, got GPS question.

Hi all, the unit just arrived at my house today. It is quite a beauty, and I've been impressed with the phone even before I got it (specs, features,...)
Now I have a question, if I've been informed correctly, the Tilt comes with integrated GPS. What do I need to make use of it? Just buy a navigation software then I'm set? Is there much else I have to do, because on the back of the Tilt just above the camera, there's a place I'm not sure what it is but it says GPS on the cover. Open up the cover reveals something that looks like an antenna connection. Do I have to buy a separate antenna too? Or will it work fine with the navigation software.
Thanks in advance!

The GPS works fine right out of the box. That's all you need is GPS navigation software to download onto your phone, or download googlemaps which is navigation software with maps stored online. You need a data plan with googlemaps.
not that searching or reading any of the write ups regarding gps on the tilt/kaiser would have told you everything you need to know and even possibly given you a free taste of tom tom..
XDA would never make things that easy for you.
Yea, what ChumleyEx said....
but as long as someone GIVEs them the answers, there's little incentive to SEARCH or READ like most of us did.......

Can i create a simulated GPS ?

Hello,
My parents are flying to canada at the end of this months. for their trip i have bought tomtom + canada/usa maps.
I want to make sure that the tytn2 functions well, so i was wondering i could make the GPS think he's in canada so that tomtom will display the map properly so i could test trip planning etc`.
Would appreciate your help on this one.
Thank you.
Paul
Wouldnt that be more of a tomtom question and not a kaiser question?
Don't see why the sats would act any different If it works here, it should work there.
please help me...
it does work here but i dont have any maps to test it out and i want to be certain that it does work in canada
Then talk to TOMTOM.
Sir.
This does not concern any particular navigation software.
I'm merely asking if there's a way to make the built in GPS think it's in canada, by maybe using some sort of program.
Please kindly assist me if y ou can.
Kindest regards,
Some jew.
There is one simple way to do this.... You jsut simpley hack the Canandian sattiliete and change their orbit so it hovers over your house and moce the ones that are over you to somewhere else (anywhere really).. That way your GPS will get signals from the canadian GPS sat's and think you are in CAnada.. Test it out... Then send all the Dat's back to their original orbits ... Be sure to not get caught as hacking international sat's is probhalyl against some rule or law somwhere ...
Hmm I think that requires an iphone to perform the hack.
you guys are very rude.

It's a genuine Windows Mobile Question and I'm surprised at the answers being given here. Someone has a need to test GPS data for a geographic area they're not in irregardless of Software or geographic location, how can they test the data with a genuine Geographic location?
YPaul The answer seems to be a registry hack.
see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms889970.aspx
this is for WM5 and I havent confirmed it on WM6 but it allows the Windows Mobile GPS driver to pull the location from a text file rather than from the GPS device. The locations need to be formated as NMEA strings.

HTC Kaiser GPS NOT WORKING MAJOR PROBLEMS!

Hi my name is Mike. I am currently having a problem with my AT&T Tilt (8925)s GPS unit. I see the orange light at the top flashing but the phone is not recieving signal at all. I heard if you use HTC GPS Tool it will tell you if it works. I am using it right now and I am noticing all these messages rolling over the screen when I select COM4 4800:
$GPVTG,,T,,M,M,,K*4E
$GPGSV,1,1,00*79
$GPGGA,,,,,,0,,,,,,,,*66
$GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,N*53
$GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*32
repeated over and over again.
When I click the satellite tab nothing is found.
Also I am not sure if it matters that my keyboard is the old version and it claims to be a 8925 when it looks different in pictures online.
If anyone can help fix this problem I will pay $3 via paypal (IF ALLOWED BY MODS AND ADMINISTRATOR, OTHERWISE FORGET IT)
I found this on a website but I still dont understand why its doing that.
$GPGSV,1,1,00*79 = 0 Satellite Vechicles in view
$GPGGA,,,,,,0,,,,,,,,*66 = No GPS Fix data available
$GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,N*53 = V in field 2 means navigation receiver warning (invalid position)
$GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*32 ==> Automatic mode (3D/2D) & Fix not available
$GPVTG,,T,,M,,N,,K*4E = NO GPS data available
EDIT: I tried the GPS on Android 2.1 on the phone and still no connection at all.
I dont understand this.
Please help me!
Thanks,
Mike
I take it you have tried a soft and hard reset?
Are you outside when it is looking for Satellites? It can also take some time to get an initial lock on. Perhaps if you switch off the auto-off/powersaving part of the phone and go outside, set it on a wall and wait...and wait....and wait... and hopefully it will get a lock.
Good luck I recall years ago with a Garmin GPS that was Serial and not Parallel receiver it would take aaaaaaaages to get a lock on ie, up to 45 minutes! Usually after it was OK but even so!
Is this a factory rom?
Not Sure of your location... However when I experienced problems in the STATES it was usually the Radio I need to change... Plus having [QuickGPS] installed to help moved the GPS initialization along [Finding a satellite lock] For me about 2-5 Min on average, depending on location. Also not sure what you use for Navigation but I use TomTom and it's been problem free....
Good luck

Good advice.
Got one questions for you guys, are you using additional antennas or is there's a build-in one? My kaiser really sucks about gps, it hardly ever locks gps even outdoors. But got a solution: Get a cooper wire which fits into GPS antenna socket, cut about 5-5.5cm of it and stick it into the socket you can bend it so it won't disturb. Maybe you can stick it under the rear cover so it won't be visible.
With this short cooper wire i've got a steady gps lock even indoors.
Sorry for my bad english

Oh sorry
I have, finally, succeed in fixing my GPS issue
I have taken a short wire do a loop with it and plug it into the GPS external port.
I have sticked my cheap installation into the mobile back !
Please find enclosed two pics representing my installation... with a brief scheme!
Hope it helps.
