I have followed the WIKI and successfully unlocked and unhidden the ExtRom however I cannot get the Partition tool to work. Each time I get the message:-
FL_IOCTL_FORMAT_PHYSICAL_DRIVE failed.
I have noticed several posts on this but no solution or explanation as to cause.
I have SPVM200, running 2003SE current ROM 1.40.
Any ideas how to solve, at the moment I am contemplating installing WM5 with just the 43M of memory rather than 60M and seeing what happens, pending a solution.
I have tried hard reset, followed by unhide, soft reset, unlock and repart but no joy.
An update! I decided to leave the ExtRom size as is (43Mb), at least it may make it easier if I downgrade.
I upgraded and now the device is really really really really slow, I have turned off all the sounds and notifications, and that sped up the 20secs to see the Start menu to about 2 secs, however in Phone mode it still takes about 10 secs to 'think about' each entered digit, meaning more than a minute to enter a single phone number....not good at all.
Anyone any thoughts on what is going wrong? I have seen many posts on the upgrade, some mentioning a slight slowing, but I think minutes to enter a phone number goes way beyond this
The slowness is probably due to you not resizing your Ext ROM, I remember when we first got the WM5 ROM people not resizing first and having real issues with speed. My personal experience with WM5 on the Blue Angel was that it was too slow even with a resized ExtROM and when it was overclocked to 520MHZ. I can't figure why you can't resize your ExtROM, are you sure that it is unlocked when you run ExtROM tools? Have you tried deleting a file from it?
Fin
Yes, I tried adding and deleting a file, so it is definately unlocked, I just get the error message when I try to re-size.
Is there an absolute foolproof method for the unlock, as i mentioned I followed the process of hard reset, copy unlock.exe, run, open ExtRom tools, unhide, soft reset, unlock, soft reset, copy Part_Doc.exe, run and get error...tried several different sizes 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 etc all in vain.
Maybe I will flash it back to 2003SE and try again.
Any idea if the v3 wm5 rom on the Wiki also includes the latest v3 patch?

Just a thought - I remember that the size is required to be in Kilobytes.. Therefore for say 16MEG (standard BA figure for ExtROM) you need 16 x 1024KB = 16384
So, when you say you've tried up to 2048, you've only sized for 2MB - No wonder it comes back with errors
Perhaps someone can confirm this..?
Cheers!
When you turned off all sounds, did you go into phone settings and turn off the keytone sounds?
I turned off all sound notifications, for the phone as well. However after installing the XCPUScalar, to overclock (gracefully) I have no problems and can even turn phone sound back on without loss of performance.
The onyl issue I still have is the inability to synchronise my clander using Activesync 4 on a networked PC, contacts synchronise, but not claender...weird.
The 'old' way (1: HKLM\Software\apps\Microsoft Application Installer\nDynamicDelete = 0 or 2: HKCR\cabfile\Shell\open\command = 'wceload.exe "%1" /nodelete' ) of keeping cab files after installing isn't working anymore? Does anybody knows how to disable deleting cab files after installing for WM6? I'm working with the clean WM6 rom son no PDAviet 1/2/3 or 4
thanks in advanced.
da Heufster
i made a thread about this months ago.. "keep cabs" search for it
It still works this way. I use it this way on my own cooked WM6 Rom. I integrate this setting directly in the cooked rom, but setting this value with a Reg Editor should also work without problems.
And yes....I also use the Clean version.
Molski
I find that using the DynamicDelete key will not work. The /nodelete option works. Just give it some time before you shutdown and restart.
you can also change your cabs to "Read Only" and this will prevent them from being deleted also... you can do this on your desktop before copying over, or use an app like Total Commander
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\cabfile\Shell\Open\Command]
@="\\Windows\\wceload.exe \"%1\" /nodelete"
Believe me.....this works!
Thanks will try it again, could be I did something wrong.
I am running WM6, but my company implemented push email, and the device is now app unlocked after installing some certificates etc. I cannot run half of my programs - I tried the SDA-Application.exe program, which seemed to be succesful, but did not work. I cannot open a registry editor either.
I search all over this forum but cannot find the answer - how can I app unlock my wizard again?
We are also about to be issued HTC Touches which are similarly app locked, so it would be useful to have a method that worked for both!
Thanks
have you tried the lokiwiz and awizard apps?
rgs
No - these don't do certificate/application unlocking do they - I thought just CID/SIM locking?
PS I tried installing lokiwiz but I can't due to the app lock!
Both awizard and lokiwiz don't simply remove the Unsigned App Policies nor RAPI communication restrictions. What they need to work is for the phone to be in that state (app+rapi unlocked) and that's why there are some CAB that go along that are supposed to be run prior.
You can use my tool (WST - check signature) that does it with a click of a button
cheers
Great tool - didn't connect on Vista, connected on XP but says:
Not needed!
Regsitry settings are already set to use RAPI tools.
But I still cannot run unsigned apps! I have rebooted. I know they added a root and user certificate to the device - all apps have to be signed now.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Sure, get yourself a registry editor and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies and edit two values:
:00001006=dword:1
:0000101a=dword:1
hope it does the trick
I tried mobile reg editor, which lets you edit the registry from a PC, and one of the reg keys was set to 0. But I changed it, rebooted, and same probem

Ok, looks like they changed some other settings that interfere with the permissions.
Check if HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\CertMod\AllowUntrustedApps is set to DWORD: 1
Hang on I figured it out....the 00001006 key was for some reason not applied once I rebooted. Thanks for all the help!
For anyone needing to do the same - I had to download mobile registry editor from http://mobile-registry-editor.en.softonic.com/pocket as that allows you to edit keys from the PC without installing anything.
My new problem, is that on our touch/elf I cannot change this key with this program as it says access denied - so there must be some registry permissions on there.
hsclater said:
Yes that is set to 1. It should be right?

I pointed that because when i set it to 0 the phone refused to install apps so i thought it was the responsible registry value.
Must be another one then...
Thanks for all your help - my wizard is now sorted.
Any idea how they restricted the registry on a touch so I can't change that value?

I believe those settings are more related to WM6 than to the specific device so they should be the same.
btw, how did you sort it out? I'd like to know for future use
tx
Mine was just fixed by changing the 1006 value. The first time, the phone didn't take the change, but the second time it did and now works.
But the touch, it won't let me edit the registry remotely - access denied.
Cheers.
upload Cert_SPCS.cab to your phone and run it
PS:
sorry for asking but i didn't read your edit before
I have tested a few HTC Comm Managers(new black theme. Kaiser style) and low and behold non of them have the wifi working right. I cannot enable/disable it from the comm manager. Anybody find a real working one that does this? Even some that were claimed to be "FIXED" didn't work...
Anyone have a dump of the original also? (stock WM6)
I've got the same problem since the upgrade to WM6. Nothing works: soft-hard reset, upgrade... WLAN doesn't works (since comm manager).
me too...any solution mods?
Same problem here... The default WM6 HTC comm manager is working corectly.
anyone have a cab file of the original? incase i want to revert back to it?
You might find the fix here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655&highlight=wing+10+button
What's wrong with it?
I'd tried to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48832&d=1188607222
And then, the following message: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system p ermissions"
...
When I try to do the change in registry, a new surprise: in the registry tree, after CommManager doesn't exist "WLAN", but numbers (0,1,2,3... and in 3 there's WLAN). The change in registry: NOT WORK YET!
I've found the problem (maybe...). In folder "Connections" there's not Wi-Fi icon... what it means?

SAME THING HERE! No permission to do this! I hope this does not result in a hard reset.
OK, I finally got anew one installed. Even though I tried a fresh install after a reboot, I still couldnt get it installed. So, what I did was start commmanager, Bthen stop it in Settings > Memory > Active programs
REALLY A GENIE!!! I'll try it...
It's Ok! Now, I could installed the comm manager, but it doesn't work... What I must fix exactly?
This is exactly what I did:
- Step 1: Copy to the phone and run it.
- Step 2: (Fixing WLAN button malfunction, somehow it doesn’t work by default on Wing): **Thanks for beowulf6’s post for this fix.
Change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \HTC \CommManager \WLAN= "Windows WLanMgr.exe " "DeviceName" = "{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} TNETW12345"
the end of this long String is the WLAN-Adaptername of the Device.
just change in this Example "TNETW12345" into "TNETWLN1"
-Step 3: (Fixing Wi-Fi setting launch issue) **Thanks for phatman81’s post for this fix.
Change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\ Default:"
\Windows\WlanMgr.exe --> \Windows\ctlpnl.exe
After all this... The WLAN icon is always off...
Nobody else has the same problem? It's incredible!! I begin to think that I've done something wrong. It has began after the upgrade to WM6... Now, I can't downgrade to WM5 because I don't have the rom WM5 original... :'(
That CommManager dosen't seem to work well. I had problems with it. I found another one that DID work though.

hello
i have the same problem. wifi card not run.
the problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225
i d´nt know.
anyone a idea? thanks
Do a search. You will find that you have to edit the settings in the registry for the comm manager.
I have this same problem. If anybody has a cab file of the stock tmo com manager, please post it!
Thanks in advance!
You guys...
Go into the registry and find out what the name is for the wireless adapter is. Take that information and change the adapter that is shown in the comm manager.
Thats really all there is to it.
If youre going to screw with the software, youre going to need to blood on your hands. You cant just throw stuff on the phones and expect it to work.
All right...
On my wing
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\<DeviceName>
{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\TNETTWLN1
That is the adapter for my phone, might be the same for you.
If youre using the changable comm manager you will have to change the settings for the wlan setup.
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\<Default>
\Windows\WrlsMgr.exe
Once again might be different for you.
Im using TouchIT 2.3 my stuff might be different.
I GOT IT

Is there a version of Quickgps that works on HTC P3600??
i tried it but it gives a connection failed error
Try this one. It's like in Kaiser (have same registry values). http://4pda.ru/forum/attach/1863057/VolROM_QuickGPS_RUS_v1.00.cab
But don't forget change region setting to your own in hklm\software\htc\quickGPS
Oh, i forgot, it's russian version. There are two mui in windows directory: Gps_aux.dll.0419.mui and quickGPS.exe.0419.mui. So rename it to 0409 for working in wwe rom.
added.
PS: this version downloads xtra.bin file which used by qualcomm based devices (Kaiser, Polaris, Diamond) with GPSOne chip. I think it will work on Trinity (also GPSOne chip) but we don't complete all tests yet
In fact, the region settings in the registry is RU...but what it should be set? then, i renamed the .mui from 419 to 409...but i still get very nice russian interface! Could you please explain it in more details? thanks indeed in advance.
but, most importantly....do you observe any improvements in the fix?

You can get QuickGPS app which you like (English or other). All necessary registry values in attached cab! So, we only "teach" QuickGPS download right file.
Region settings=Country name. Russia=RU, Italia=IT, France=FR, Belgium=BE etc.
I don't complete all tests... BTW, i will say that it work (sometimes). Ex: I do HR, install QGPS, get fix, run GPSinfo, but there is no satellites listed and i get standard fix (very long, apx 200 - 230 sec).
Ex2: At the evening i trying one more time. Same schema: I do HR, install QGPS, get fix, run GPSinfo and i see that all satt in their positions. Fix get in 45-47 sec. I don't understand why.
Syncronisation with PC back up FIX? Any ideas?
(and sooo sorry for my English)
Thanks guys for your great help
I actually got quickgps to work by installing 2 versions
the first is the 760kb then i install over it the 238kb version and then restart and it works like magic
now i can get a cold fix in few seconds
I look this two cab files. First (larger) identical to my russian cab, but english version. Second look like a cab for sirf based devices. setup.xml in it have many "waste" registry keys... and i see that it reconfigure gps com port... i'm right?
Please, make HR, get fix and tell us: do you see sattelites in their positions after that?
Hi G-Max, I have just installed the two files; how do I "make HR, get fix" to see if it works?
On registry the right country code shows. but in folder 0, 1 and 2 the default region is not set; could be the problem?
Cheers
Update 1,
Started TomTom 7 and not much of the difference noted.
Update 2,
Downloaded service.mio-tech.com/eeservice/packedephemeris.ee and placed it manually in Windows folder and Voila connected in less than 10 seconds.
