Hello,
I´ve had continous problems using tomtom 6 simultaneously with parrot ck 3000 car mounted. When a call incomes, tomtom6 locks and after the call pocket pc too. Sometimes appears on screen 'Your device is not compatible with this version of tomtom navigator'. Nevertheless and very important, same sd card with same maps runs perfectly in a ipaq 1940!!
Please help and thanks in advance.
Hi,
Seems like that alpine has SD card problem when using phone with Tomtom together.
Read many times that people suggest use MMC instead of SD card.
Thanks. I'm just trying that, but things seem to go same way...

Hi All,
Bought today for £2.50 a Pama Plug 'N' Go 4 bluetooth handsfree set (g*d bless charity shops!!!) which despite being so cheap seems to work perfectly. Some questions though...
Can I use handsfree set at sametime as TomTom 5.21 or will this freeze fsck TomTom to hell?
What about if I switch from SD to MMC?
If I can't, am I able to use it whilst the phone is sat in the GPS cradle (Holux CR-100) ? That way I'd have the phone screen where I can see it so I know who's calling and also have the phone on charge at the sametime.
Anyone have this particular handsfree set? Any known issues or problems?
Thanks in advance - you lot are all great!

Just a little up - anyone able to help with any of these?
Thanks in advance
:? :? :? Just a notification of some strange happenings with bluetooth handsfree -
I have been having problems with connecting the bluetooth handsfree Earpiece since installing TT6 - have tried uninstalling it, and then bluetooth handsfree works fine - it also works fine with TT5.21. - reinstalled TT6 and managed (with help) to get it all working from the 512MB SD card ( just 2 main folders on there:- GB plus Western Europe main roads map & Program Files with everything else in there),
everything was working Ok until I tried to connect to tomtom for a traffic update via GPRS, - I kept getting a message saying couldn't connect to server and to check GPRS settings on device or soft reset, which i did and re inserted all the GPRS settings.
Then I could connect via GPRS to get traffic updates - but it was impossible to connect the bluetooth handsfree again. Strange ain't it !!
I don't have any problems with the bluetooth GPS which is a Globalsat 339.
Apparently the version of TT6 that is available at the moment is only a pre-release and so has quite a few bugs in it - best to wait until the retail version is available. - when it is working I have found it to be really good - so without the bugs it should be great.
If anybody has any ideas on fixing this problem, let me have your input, i'm willing to give it a go, but i'm not very technical so need simple instructions. cheers all!
You may want to...
Uninstall your ILLEGAL copy of TomTom. That would solve your problem. Then you can go an PURCHASE a legitimate copy when its released and see how a LEGITIMATE copy works on your 2i instead of using a PIRATED beta version.
It's just a thought but I'm not too bright......
Why???
But the original TT5.21 was also an illegal - cracked copy and it worked on there!
Why pay for it when you can get it for free.
No you're not are you - maybe it's a culture thing!!
TOM TOM 6 - Bluetooth Headset Problems - SOLVED!!
Sorry to upset Weatheryoko  but i think i've solved the connection problem(with help from anonymous) I Hope this helps someone else with similar problems. Downloaded Broadcom 3900 cab from wiki site/Blue Angel, to overwrite files already installed on my XDA11i - in case any were corrupt, this didn't make any difference. Then downloaded A2DP cab from Alpine Upgrading forum - put on to SD card - run it on XDA - soft reset - set up pairing with Headset - at first didn't seem to work but looked in active connections and icon was there tapped status and it was connected - icon showing on top bar, tried turning on and off few times - made phone call - started up tomtom 6 - all seems to be working ok. I haven't tried another soft reset yet as that was where the trouble started before - so far so good - I now have a fully working XDA11i with tomtom 6, all the maps and whistles and bells and connectivity to my BT Headset  I hope this helps if you are having bluetooth headset problems, try A2DP. PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME FOR TOMTOM 6 LINKS THEY ARE OUT THERE - SEEK AND YOU SHALL FIND!
Cheers all - pistebeast
has anyone bought a copy yet and tried it on the pda yet ,as i have a xda2i and as it not on teh compatable list i'm hesatent to buy a copy as yet ,all i wanna know does it all work ok
thanks
XDA 2i (M1500) + TT6
Andy,
Yup - the two seem fine together.
I've been running TT6 for a week now and all is well - the new maps are excellent.
I wasn't aware that the XDA 2i wasn't on the TT list, but all I can say is so far, so good!
Hope this helps

Isn't your tomtom 6 very slow?
It's terrible on my mda pro!
Regards,
Schmia
Schmia,
TT6 is fine on the 2i running very smoothly, but as with all of the previous versions I have found that it slows dramatically if you have the POIs showing as you drive.
The only POIs have active are Gatzo's etc.
Hope this helps
Snappy
cheers for info ....i might just get it just for the new maps then as i will have no buddies with tt6 so thats a waist and my mate bought his before this buddy stuff was out on the go's
GPS reciever / XDA11i
Hey guys/ gals
Which GPS reciever did you go for ? Im looking at a blue tooth one .
Also , how have you arranged the voice to be loudenough to hear ? plug in loudspeaker ? or combined with GPS ??
Seems like a mine field to me.
Astro1
I bought the TomTom II BT GPS unit. Works very well.
I also have a ARKON powered PDA mount - it has two USB ports to provide power to your PDA and another device, a 5v jack for power to a BT GPS and an audio input to connect your PDA to amplify the sound. It works very well. Sorry can't remember the model number (?CM720). It comes supplied with cables for the audio, GPS power and USB-XDA (you specificy PDA model when ordering). Neat windscreen mount - recommended.
I use the Holux CR-100 GPS cradle which charges my XDA 2i, provides GPS and has a built in speaker which you can connect the 2i to. Only thing is that the phone MUST be in flight mode or the interferance from the radio stack on the speaker is blooming awful.
Other than that highly recommended.
Using TT6 on an Orange M1500, works OK but have an issue with BT headsets dropping out and not able to discover their services again until full reset. I am trying it out again with iGo software to see if the problem is just with TT6, have a Bluenext BT GPS device.
trblay,
I had the same issues with TT6 on the M1500 but managed to solve them by editing the install cab file to omit the BT stack upgrade.
For some reason the M1500 doesn't like anything other than the original stack to be installed.
- works a treat now with the phone talking to my Parrot BT car kit whilst using TT6
The phone POI function in TT6 really is a joy to use... call any destination (usually a Pub) and book a table for lunch... easy!
Hope this helps
Cool Thanks Snappy-xda, bet you know what my next question is going to be how do I edit the install cab file???
Also have you managed to get full 6/7 digit postcodes to work? I can only get the first 3/4 digits to work so gave up and rolled back to TT5....also I have loads of favourites programmed in and no way to transfer them to TT6....
Cheers Again,
Tony.
It works fine, But it has issues with the Bluetooth Driver...
If you have a bluetooth headset, it has problem connecting it after the TT6 install...
It will only work after a hard reset!
@Snappy-xda
Would you please explain how to edit the cab install to omit the bluetooth stack update as this stops my handsfree working after installing Nav 6. I had to revert to Nav 5.

1. download WinCE CAB Manager 2.0.0.13 from here http://downloads.cnet.co.uk/0,39100207,39183699s,00.htm. 15 free use trail but you'll only need to use it once
2. make a backup of the tomtom 6 cab file just in case
3. then open the tomtom 6 cab file in the CAB Manager
4. on the left side panel click on files which displays the files in the cab and the install path of the file etc.
5. then delete from the list ttn6bt2003.dll, BtCoreIf.dll, BtSdkCE30.dll (these are the files i deleted from the cab and seems to work fine, not sure what the heck each does lol)
6. click save and upload the new cab file with the omitted files to you xda and install as per normal.
tested on my xda IIi and my xda II and works fine...
haven't tried too see if i can use the headset and my GPS at the same time yet but i hear you can't since the xda is bluetooth 1.1 or something and you can only use one bluetooth device at a time.
i use a globalsat bt-359, VERY good receiver IMO. i can get a signal inside my house! 7 satellites! and my tomtomGO500 doesn't even get a signal in the house.
@ironfin
Thanks - will try this.
I use a Globalsat BT338 and it's superb. I already had a TTGO700 before I got the XDA IIi so that's the only time I use the handsfree - don't need handsfree and Nav6 to work at the same time as I usually only use Nav6 on the XDA when I'm not in my own car.
Thanks.

@ironfin
Works perfectly now - Thanks.
artful
thanks, works perfect now - i can make calls on my bluetooth parrot carkit while getting navigated by tomtom 6 using my bluetooth gpslim
gps receiver.
Big Thanks....
Thanks ironfin, I will give it a try.
Anyone managed to get 6/7 digit postcodes to work? I can only get TT6 to recognize 3/4 digits.....
Also is there any way to transfer favourites from TT5-TT6, i've had a look on this forum but cannot find anything that helps.
my postcodes work fine. make sure you have the file named 'zip' in the 'Navigator' folder within 'Program Files'

You are a star mate - my xdaIIi now works with both tt6 and bluetooth headset -- note - i have a tomtom bluetooth gps - tt6 does not see it as a tt6 blutooth gps reciever - so u need to configure ( mine was com 6 ) as other bluetooth devices . and bingo ! - it works -
all cred to ya ...... weby
Hey Guys,
it seems a bit like a stupid question (and maybe it is) but how do a actually connect my s730 to a ... lets say GPS Bluetooth receiver?
I read the manual ... I got the two devices paired.
Everythings fine. Until it says that I am connected to the receiver. The problem is, I am not. At least the receiver says so.
Until last week a had a Asus P525 (WM5 PPC). It was no problem to get a connetion. I paired the devices ONCE, activated BT and chose connect on the paired device everytime I needed it. Unlike WM5 PPC there is nothing like "connect now" anywhere. It seems like I have to re-pair the devices everytime. But that can't be right.
Thanks in advance,
Samuel
With some GPS programs, after you have paired, you need to create a com port over the connection. Did you do this?
With Tomtom 5.2, you do not need that. It just finds the device as soon as it is paired.
Hope that helps
I have TomTom 6 installed. And it says that I have to connect the device. On my WM5 PPC I used Navigon MobileNavigator 6 and had no problems at all. MN|6 found the device itself. Maybe its TomTom which causes the problems.
Sorry I can't help. Since I learned that TT6 was not suported on smartphones, I gave up any plan on upgrading. 5.2 is enough for me.

Did you disable Bluetooth explorer?
@phailo
Yes, it is disabled. I tried Efficasoft's GPS Utilities and these CAN connect to the receiver ... and get a lock.
What bothers me, is that there seems to be no real bluetoth manager on the s730. It would be great to get the Broadcom Bluetooth Manager to work.
Hi Folks,
thanks for a great discussions on this forum, it helped me a lot in some issues!
I have had a good idea of having a "universal" device since my first pda. And I thought I would get one with Diamond, but unfortunately... The issue is that am trying to use Diamond as a GPS device and a memory unit at the same in my car... I have an MP3 car radio with USB (incl. power supply), so what I am trying to get is:
-> Running GPS inside Diamond (e.g. Navigon)
-> Running car radio (supplying Diamond with power)
-> Car radio reads Diamond's internal flash memory over USB
Until now I only managed that Diamond's GPS running and getting power over USB (-> selected ActiveSync after plugging in the USB cable into car radio) OR Diamond's internal memory serving MP3s for my car audio and charging itself over USB.
So my question: Is it theoretically possbile to get what I want?
I know, setting Diamond as internal memory demounts the flash for external USB device and makes it unavailable for internal applications... And ActiveSync will never work with the car audio... And there is not enough space to place GPS maps into ROM... But probably you have some ideas or tweaks of apps, which could help me???
So what I tried was:
1. Creating two memory patritions my SD-card with my old XDA mini S and demounting them with WM5torage. It didn't work with mini S as WM5torage recognised only one created partition. It also didn't work with Diamond as I could not create two partitions on it (for several reasons).
2. I tried to find an extra soft app, which would "extend" ROM emulating it by using the space of the internal memory. Didn't work.
3. Use different USB modes...
So do you have an idea?
Thanks and regards,
schroschy
// D
I've got the same kind of car radio... but I don't see any chance to get what you (and I) want. so get yourself a usb-memory-stick (with even more than 4 gb) or a second diamond
Anrgy...
Argh... I'm so f**king angry!
'Cause HTC Diamond Pro, which comes out in a couple of weeks, got 512 MB ROM and an external miniSD card slot - just enough to place a map of Germany or enough mp3's / ogg's on each sigle partition!
Bastards...
EDIT: But there MUST be a workaround! I can't believe it doesn't work! I heard Micro$oft is working on an alternative product to ActiveSync... Maybe it'll help us...
Any further suggestions?
a new radio...
i thought about a new radio with bluetooth. so you can play music with the diamond and use tomtom at the same time and hear both (music and commands) through the speakers in your car...
it's cheaper than buying a pro
there was an app for older pdas that would allow you to present the storage as a disk , i think you could also still access it from the pda
@cookie: you guess you mean WM5torage... i tried this one, it didn't work with xda mini s (qtek 9100). and it does not work with wm6.1 anyway...
@Herr_Knigge: i though about it... what you mean is basically using diamond's internal media player and transmitting audio via bluetooth, don't you? i will try it out next time at the media store and will share my experiences...
thus, if anyone has a good workaround / tweak / app to solve the problem - you are welcome
I'm curious about why you're so determined to get this to work... is it so that you don't have to buy a car charger kit?
Seriously, you can get a 4GB flash drive for peanuts
@Davey101:
well sure you can get an SD for peanuts, but hangig around with your sd-card plus cardreader plus all this chargers etc. is what i hate... why can't i have everything in one device???
@Herr_Kringe:
i had a small BT-test in the media store on firday. it worked fine (with some minor interruptions when loading) with sony mex bt 5000. however, i am not sure about the sound quality. sony supported special audio-streaming-mode and i started diamond's bluetooth-headset-mode... so i guess it was all mono sound. thus you can tweak it to joint stereo in diamond's regestry...
another thing i'm worried about using BT is the volume level. since the audio player is running in diamond and not in the car audio device, loudness maximization inside diamond could cause some distortions. and i am not sure if there is any sound wave normalization / limiting inside the bluetooth interface. i will do some more tests this week.
PS! another cool thing was that navigation speech was also heard in car radio over bluetooth there was kind of a loundess controller between player and navigation, so the player turned down the level to hear the navigation speech
