i just got a laptop and it has the vista os.. my desktop pc is running XP.. how can i network my Laptop with my desktop and have them share files and a printer? i have a Netgear Wireless router.. the Desktop is connected directly to the router. any one can give me a step by step to getting this done.. or anyplace where i can go to get help.

as far as i know apart from GUI there is no diff between networking
vista or xp or 2k
you do properties on my network on the xp
turn on file sharing
do properties on the dir you want shared share it
add the vista laptop's user to the xp
give rights to that user on the dirs
add the network drives on the vista laptop

more specific help will be gratefull.. this is driving me crazy

Buy a copy of XPpro and get rid of Vista.

ActiveSync

Ok I want to syncronise my TyTN II with 2 computers. My computer at work and my laptop at home. I dont want to syncronise contacts on any PC. I do want to sync calendar items in the work computer only.
Now when I open Tools > Options and then settings on ActiveSync on the computer, I see 3 computers
- Microsoft Exchange
- ADMA PC (adma is the company I work at)
- Windows PC
Now my question is, where is my home PC? What is Microsoft Exchange?
Even when I connect my TyTN II to my home laptop, I don't see the name of my laptop.
How do I know which one im connected to?
Also, when the screen is open and tilted and im in phone menu (ready to dial a number) the Windows key (on hard keyboard) doesnt work!
In would guess windows pc is the laptop. If you connect it, then open active sync on the device and it will tell you which pc you are connected to.
Did you try to set up a push email account with an exchange server?

How do I know which one im connected to? Its not highlighted or has a tick sign for me to know. Im also guessing the laptop is the windows pc, but why didnt it pick up the computer name?
It will say " connected" when you are.
It says connected on the main screen, but connected to what? Microsoft Exchange? ADMA PC? or Windows PC?
The Main Screen? If you mean the pc screen, then please read m post above:
Open Activesync on your device, and it will tell you which machine you are connected to.
ahhh I see! Open ActiveSync on my device, I thought you meant device as in laptop/desktop.
Ill try it and get back to this thread.

How do I connect ibook with internet sharing

Hello
I'm completely new to apple computers, just acquired a ibook, mac os x (version 10.4.7) yeah I know it's a bit old.
I need to know how to connect my Kaiser phone to the mac, I know how to do this with my windows laptop and this works successfully.
I think I may need an mac activesync equivalent, please could you provide a step by step guide as to what to do please for usb and bluetooth connection with windows mobile 6.1.
Unfortunately tethering with a Mac is not as simple as with Windows. From my experience with MacBook Pro's, you have 2 options:
1) Bluetooth personal networking.
2) Modem script using USB. I don't believe you can get 3G speeds with this option, however.
I would visit the AT&T or Apple forums, or Google, for guides on how to configure the options above.

Help browsing device through activesync

Hi,
I'm having difficulties working with my windows mobile device via my home PC (work laptop is fine). I am able to sync with my phone fine through activesync to transfer contacts etc but I am unable to browse the device contents from my PC via activesync or via windows explorer.
The device does not show up in explorer and when I try to click "Explore" from the activesync interface nothing happens.
One odd thing which I think may be related is that whenever I plug in my phone over USB my PC things it is an internet gateway and it appears in my PC's network connections as "xd". Looking at the properties for this connection there is a single service listed:
MsNMsgr (192.168.0.2:10020) 36583 UDP
Host PC - Windows XP64 Professional
ActiveSync 4.5.0 build 5096
Device - HTC Kaiser
Hyperdragon3 ROM
Any help with this would be very much appreciated
Cheers
Stuart

Problem with Remote Desktop w/ WM6.5 hybrids

So i have installed Athine lite, PDACornerUltimate.V17, and HyperDragon IV. Athine lite and PDA v17 are both based on WM 6.5 and i can not get WM remote desktop to work it just hangs @ connecting with no error messages. Hyperdragon based on 6.1, RD works just fine.
Any1 have a solution to get this working on v6.5? i have installed Mocha Remote Client and Terminal Services 2002 and both of those work just fine on WM6.5, but i really want to be able to map my device to the machine.
im currently running Athine lite as its fast and clean.
would you mind explaining how you got it to work the first time? im a little confused about the domain and ip address and such
so what is no one having a problem with this?
same problem here, just sitting on connect...
And there's no traffic since HSDPA doesn't kick in (switching between H and 3G symbol).
I've been trying Anryl's latest ROM's. 21202 rev 8 or 9 had RDP as part of the ROM at that connected ok.
I've just upgraded to his 21500 rev 5 and RDP is not embedded so installed from the .cab I used with WM6.1 and I get the hang at 'connecting' problem.
Don't really want to downgrade but may have to...
Same here. It worked with 6.1 but I install the same cab on 6.5 (Tai BlueCalm ROM) and it just hangs when trying to connect. I can't figure it out.
I found this link in XDA Developers and it works now for WM6.5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3592033
Was anyone able to establish a connection with this version of rdp 6.5? I only get connection errors when I try to connect to my Vista SP 2 System (works from any Windows XP and Vista device, so its no issue with my pc).

Yes you can with an ad-hoc connection. You'll have to google it though, as no one can tell you the exact details for your network as you will have to use an internal IP address. Start by googling how to use the "ipconfig" command in dos, as that's a good way to find out internal addresses quickly.
Start here:

Thanx for Reply Stuntdouble, but need more info
Thanx for reply stuntdouble but i need some more info regarding the same.
1. Link u have forwarded - I have already did before made a adhoc connection on my laptop and connected it from my winmo.
2. winmo cannot connect thru wireless though when connected thru USB get working fine.
3. I cannot even see a different machine other than my own PC in network neighbourhood.
4. I have installed Network access from HTC but it also dont show any computer in LAN conected while connected on adhoc.
please reply if this could be sorted.
thanx in advance.
Sounds like there's a firewall blocking the connection on your pc.
