Ugly Comm Manager - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Ok I'm working with the Undergroud Edition rom and so far things are going well with it, but I can't stand the green comm manager background.
does anyone know where the file for this background is located? or how to change?

It's embedded into the EXE so you will have to find an old copy of Commmanager .exe and copy it across.

That's so funny as I absolutely love that green comm manager. Is smaller, BT opens and closes faster and I can close the app with HTC X-Button. My custom Orwell ROM that I cooked has this embedded.
(It IS a little freaky looking but I'm more concerned with functionality)
As an aside, the comm manager is the ONLY thing that I liked with the Underground ROM...)

I figured it out. The image files are in the "CommManagerRes.dll" I can change them from here.

I agree the comm manager has better funtionality I just don't like the color scheme which is why i didn't want to simply swap for an old one. I'm going to change the color scheme in the CommManagerRes.dll so everything still works llike it should only with something that better goes with the rest of my theme

Looking forward to your polished product!
('cause it IS butt ugly!)

im happily running the PV3 release, but im just curious as to how this comm manager looks, can anyone post an image of it?

if you 'Hide Keyboard', you get wm6 smartdial. otherwise, use EZdial - it's very nice app for speedialing.

Thanks for posting!
People better grab it before Big Brother complains.
Anybody know where I can get the picture in the background to use as my today background? Thanks
Here is the background to use as your todaybackground it is in png format.

is there anyway to get my default backround on this skin or am I stuck with Nemo? Not a big fan of the Nemo thing but I like the pad.

messed up comm manager?

I don't know what happened, but suddenly the words on my comm manager or bigger than they usually are and looks deformed. It's kinda hard to read now.
I've tried using downloading a different one.. but ended up with the same result.. Did this ever happen to anyone?
if the text is messed up it maybe because another app installed a font over the top of an exisiting one. What other programs have you install recently? I know I've seen one of the weather today plugins that screwed up the font in comm man.

New Rom Making Suggestions!!! (What would you like?)

Well, I want to make a new ROM, but this is the part I need help on. I want as many people to put in what they might like in a new ROM. Once I get enough replies, I'm going to check out which ones were the most popular. If all goes well, I'll try to make the ROM as best I can.
Why do I want to do this? Well, occasionally, I'm really bored and I have nothing to do, and plus it's really fun making them.
Just another note, please don't spam or go off topic on this thread. I just want this specifically for opinions about the majority of what people might like on a new ROM.
Thanks!

Well, my ROM was pretty basic.
For this one, I want everyone to have a say, and I want to try to make it different. It's not like it's going to come out soon, but I just want to get the idea of things. So basically, it's undecided right now.
How bout something Totally Different?
Just a thought.
How about a total vista rom. From the splash screens to Today and system Icons -- totally vista orbs and icons. Not a big fan of vista but the interface is really nice. I won't use the word pretty.
Built on WM6.1 with the latest radio rom. Glossy black bars. Even the animated orb at boot up. ????
Just a thought. Bet it would be popular.
yeaa do what zcinc said...and make it almost like a tablet pc if possible..make it as close to the pc experience as possible...i no u can do it..
Yeah, from my experience most people either way as much speed and space as possible ( blank rom like ur 1st ) or EyE Candy (Vista Release perhaps ?
mac anyone?
full mac ui for us mac lovers, and I don't mean iphone-blah.
would be nice to see a mac flavored rom -- =)
One thing i'd like to see and i don't hope is a spanish rom... i'd tried to make it myself and didn't do a great job exactly... i'll try another time, maybe.
This isn't a suggestion, i understand there's no interest in making one, just a loud-voice-thought.

Ohh... pretty... Interesting tidbit of information: One of my original cleanROM themes was a vista themed everything. But this is prettier.
I might include it as part of the kitchen I may or may not be releasing this week...
More Ideas
This is something like what I was thinking for the boot end:
***really awesome animated splash screen included in the .zip file .............
also, I have tons of icons and system files for the Vista look, extracted from wisebar themes. let me know if you want them for cooking.
Also, if someone can figure out this whole orb replacing the flag thing, they would be a ****en Genius.

I just downloaded a Kitchen today. Going to try my hand at cooking. I may or may never come up with a rom but I will try. Totally lost at this point but I will learn.
How about a 6.1 that has MMS working

Everyone makes ROMS with lots of stuff pre-installed. I'd like to see a ROM that's as close as possible to the WinMo that came pre-installed on my Wing, except for the following:
Leave out:
Adobe Reader LE
MyFaves app
t-zones wifi finder
Esmertec Java
misc crap I'm forgetting right now
Add:
BatteryStatus
6 MB pagepool
Today theme of Developer's choice
Touch dialer
Touch comm manager
WM6.1 if possible
Oxios mem manager or similar
As well as a package of "highly recommended" cabs that can be installed individually. For example, lots of ROMs have HTC Home 6 tab pre-installed. I hate the profiles tab, so I just use 5 tab.
Just my $.02
I would like to see the option to create a paging file on SD card and the ability to turn EV-DO off and make it STAY off, especially while connected to WiFi (my phone occasionally will use ev-do even when a wifi connection is present). Turning data off in comm manager does no good as it will automatically redial.

1. Paging file?
2. EV-DO? I'm gessing you don't have a herald. hehe -Turn off automatic Mail Push, though, and it should stay off. (Also turn off anything automatic, time and all.)

Comm Manager Opening Randomly

Hey, I was looking at the other threads about this and I searched on google, but no one was really responding to the posts, but has anyone found a fix for the comm manager randomly opening when you slide the keyboard, or look at a text message?
I am using:
Rom 5.2.19199 (im going to upgrade tonight, but i have read that this bug still appears in the newer one.)
Radio 1.64.06.04
Thanks
Did you make sure Comm Manager was closed properly and not just minimized after its last use? It sometimes "pops up" for me after closing other programs, but then I just remember to actually close it.
yeah im pretty sure, i mean, its not listed in the task manager or anything. It usually opens up under the messaging program when i hit the notification button on the today screen, and then type a message with the keyboard and then close out of messaging. (if that makes sense)
I'm seeing this too when closing the Opera pre-alpha and sometimes when closing Messaging. Using Dutty's WM6.1 RTM.
i'm seeing the same thing too on an i760. task manager doesnt see it as being minimized.
In the Dutty 6.1 ROM Thread The Bug has been discussed. Here's how you can make it happen.
1. Open just about any program.
2. Slide Out Your Keyboard.
3. Close Your Keyboard
4. Close your Program of choice.
5. Marvel in the wonders of Random Comm Manager
6. ???
7. PROFIT!!!
You didn't say what ROM you were using. I'm curious as to if its a WM 6.1 Thing.

I too believe this is the work of underwear gnomes...
This has something to do with FTouchFlo, I believe. I have the same ROM running and I used to have that happen to me all the time. After I installed SPB Mobile Shell 2 and stopped using TouchFlo and the cube as a test, I've never had it happen again.
Though underwear gnomes are just as reasonable an explanation.

Hi,
Just to report that I've tryed many times, with differet aplications, with and without Ftouch and just never have this proble... (running Dutty's 6.1 19199)
cheers
This issue is already being talked about.... but we still don't have an answer or fix.
Here's a link to my thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1958220
I've also already PM'd dutty about it, and a few other people to see if anyones working on a fix for it but I havent heard anything back. It is terribly annoying.
I've tried re-installing the comm manager, installing different comm managers... and i've tried performing a few registry hacks, but it still does it.
The comm manager usually ONLY opens randomly, once you have launched the comm manager at one point or another. So if you never open the comm manager after you have soft reset, you shouldnt see it. However, if you open it... then close it, it will randomly appear.
It looks as if the comm manager is running in the background somehow, and CLICKING THE "X" doesnt fully close it, it just hides it. The comm manager also does not appear in the task manager windows or running program list in the memory. Weird huh?
This is happening to both my girlfriend and myself on both of our tilts...
Here is what we are working with:
Rom: Duttys WM6.1 5.2.19716 UC
Radio: Polar 1.58.25.14
To re-create the problem, just do this:
1st: open any program... (phone app, PIE, whatever...)
2nd: slide out keyboard
3rd: slide back in keyboard
4th: close opened program
And the comm manager will open back up.....
I use QuickMenu as my task manager and Comm Manager shows up in there like any other app. Closing it from the task menu stops it from popping up.

This isn't just isolated to Dutty's ROM apparently a couple people on the CUSTEL ROM are also having this. I wonder if they both started from the same base WM 6.1
Its not a WM6.1 thing as im using an original tmobile WM6 rom.
Rom 1.56.110.4
Radio 1.27.12.11
I also get this problem.
Well there goes my theory.
Can someone who actually has this problem say whether closing the Comm Manager through QuickMenu fixes things or not? I'm still pretty confident that it's just Comm Manager not closing properly and not showing up in other task managers.
Quentin's ROM; Q-Mobile 1.1 had this issue too.
In his newest ROM Q-Mobile 1.2 (WM6 ROM) he solved this issue.
If you are looking for a solution or fix, try to contact Quentin. Maybe he can help you.
BTW, his Q-Mobile 1.2 ROM is awesome. I'm running it for months already. It's fast and very stable.

Just tested that.. Yup if you Open Comm Manager and "close it" HTC End task Doesn't see it but Quick Menu does. If it is visable in Quick Menu It will pop up. Killing it Via Quick Menu and doing the same steps that brought it up before, it does not show up.
So Comm Manager isn't closing all the way. Which in itself it not a bad thing if it wouldn't pop up on Sliding out the Keyboard. Maybe... If its hiding in the back ground and you slid out your keyboard, since it switches to landscape mode Comm Manager is responding to that command switching to Landscape and forgot that it was "hidden." So If it could stay "hidden" during the switch from Portrait to Landscape and Back this problem would not exist.
commanager
i have a tilt with wm6 (2nd release) not wm61. i also have this annoying problem.
i noticed this after i installed poorly duck vista commanager. i don't remember if it was after the rom upgrade, though. please find a fix.

SwiftBL 7.5 unwanted tweaks

Hi there,
I've just managed to install a SwiftBL 7.5 ROM on my touch diamond. I've noticed that the font size in Contacts have now increased and when u 'swoosh' ur finger left or right on the TF3D interface (to go to the adjacent tab), there is no longer that slick animation.
Does anybody know how to make the font size in Contacts go back to the normal size (smaller)? And how would I turn back on that animation?
I do realise that the animation will slow everything down but I don't mind. With Contacts, the font size is too big so my contacts' number (displayed below their names) have '...' added to the end and so I cannot see their full phone numbers.
Many thanks in advance!
To change the font size, goto settings --> screen --> font, and adjust it there.
The lack of animation is inherent in all the new 1.93 ROMs, whether they be official or cooked. There's no getting them back unless you revert to the older original ROMs.

Yes I think it's just a complete copy of all the manila files from a 1.37 ROM and then copied over the top of a 1.93 ROM. There may be slightly more too it than that though..
I do remember seeing a cab file for it somewhere... Yep... I think it is here: http://theloanranger.romraid.com/tlr-manila.cab

thx! but the install was unsuccessful (and took 2 years to finish! O_O)
I've managed to fix the font problem tho so...thank you!
I'll try install the TF3D config program and use the HTC black theme from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409901
so ok..installed the HTC black theme using TF3D..The side and background animation didn't come back but instead, I get fade in and out (background stays the same) but the TF3D bar at the bottom now animates.
Next I'll try this!
http://rapidshare.com/files/140844219/Diamond_manila_by_Swtos.cab
oh actually...i just realised that the tlr_manila installation probably failed because I didn't turn off TF3D before I ran the cab file -_-'' i'll give it a try later.....
ok that worked! I had to turn off TF3D first before running the tlr_manila.cab file.
Now does anybody know why ActiveSync keeps coming back in the task manager?! I close it and a few moments later, it's there again!!

As far as I'm aware, ActiveSync runs constantly whether it shows in any task manager or not... I may be wrong, but I think it needs to be running or it won't detect that you've just connected to your PC? I'm sure a more enlightened individual will correct me if I'm wrong
old manilla bug i think, though it is still present in the newer roms too i believe
