Downgradeing HTC Wizard

Hi,
I've installed the latest AKU 3.2 Version on my Wizard.
Now i've wanted to downgrade to AKU 2.0 (with the original Loader Provided from "Vario_AKU2.0_05-2006.exe") and the tool tells me it is not possible. Is there a way to make it run?

It looks like nobody has an idea how to downgrade from SPL2.xx en that sucks! noboby warns about it when supplying new ROMS..
I have the same problem with a TMobile Vario that needs to be flashed to stock ROM\IPL\SPL..
I've found a way to do it but its for the HTC Thyfoon and might not work with the Wizard..

Maybe if you downgrade to a 1.xx ROM first you can then go back to your AKU 2.

There are tons of threads on this issue already... maybe if you are hardworking enough to search for it yourself, you won't even have that problem at all... warnings are placed everywhere... please read before you even proceed to upgrade your rom...

I've searched for hours the two solutions Boots 1.05 end Cingular 1.8 do not work but if you are so sure their is an solution ill keep searching
Ofcource I know about warnings but ive NEVER seen an warning about SPL not being able to downgrade..

Try to load the Qtec Custom Rom from ...

.. and Flash it to your Wizard. After that is should be possible to load older Roms without any problems.

If you have a G3 device you can downgrade your IPL/SPL. I've done it my Cingular 8125 and it's 3 replacement PDA's numerous times. In addition I've downgraded at least 20 phones to 1.05 so's I could unlock and then upgrade. And then done it again. If you follow faria's instructions that is.... Now I HAVE had to flash the 1.05 twice to get the SPL down to 1.05. Humor us huh?
Note: I realize that Faria says that it doesn't work above 2.21 but I have performed this procedure on at least a dozen "out of the box" Cingular 2.25's. Downgrade to 1.05. Extract lokiwiz to the root of your C drive. Copy enablerapi.cab to your device (I know that you've unlocked your device, just indulge me please ) Execute enablerapi.cab from your PDA. get to a Dos prompt and run lokiwiz from the C prompt. Unlock CID and SIM. It WILL reboot each time. If your IPL / SPL still show a 2.x reflash again with the 1.05.
If you do this I'll just about guarantee that it'll work

Your garantee worked great fabulous work ! I downgraded my Dutch MDA Vario from official Tmobile Rom RUU_Prodigy_2210205_22102108_021911_TMO_NL_DUT_Ship.exe with 2.21 IPL.SPL to 1.05. Indeed needed to run WWE flashrom - did the Lockwiz2b CID unlock and ran the Flashrom WWE again and voila IPL/SPL 1.01 - OS 1.5.4.2 -GSM 1.12.10.0 - Thanks a lot!!

i want to downgrade my 2.21 G3 Vario as well which is NLD and locked. I believe that I know all the steps neccesary and already downed the QTEK custom ROM. Can I just execute this ROM and have it install the older version on my Vario, run lokiwiz02b and upgrade again?
One part I didn't find on the forum was the need to run "WWE flashrom" again to downgrade to 1.05
What is this WWE flashrom, is it a seperate tool besides the Custom rom and if yes where do I get it?

Does NOT work, thnx anyway

I have the same problem.
But i allready downgaded with the Custom version.
When i restart i can see. it is IPL 1.01 and SPL 2.26
Is it possilble olso downgrade the SPL (i do not exactrly know what it is)

I've seen "somewhere on this board" a description of how to flash "any rom" without having to downgrade to 1.05, it stated to change the .exe file to a .rar and then change the ruu file to one that is not looking for the current phone status. I've tried that and have not had success in doing so. IF there is infact a way to do this, could someone please provide a blow by blow scenario to accomplish it?

Bet you didn't run the 1.05 a second time as I stated before. I'm actually doing a brand new Cingular G3 2.25 as we speak. I downgraded to 1.05, SPL still says 2.25. Copied enablerapi to the device and executed it from the device. Extracted lokiwiz to the root of my E drive (on my new thinkpad that I'm setting up at the same time...) It rebooted twice as it's susposed to when you unlock the CID and the SIM. Ran the downgrade a second time and both IPL and SPL are 1.01, the GSM is 1.12.10.0 and the OS is 1.5.4.2.... every freak'n time I do this, probably close to two dozen Cingular 8125's. If it don't work for you I just don't know what more to tell ya....

Mr hokkie, please humble me and document exactly what device you own and your exact IPL/SPL/OS/GSM versions. Beacuase I just don't think that you've got in in ya to be my first failure. Show me what you got

I own a Dutch MDA Vario from T-mobile, which has a T-mobile SIM-lock. I want to remove the SIM-lock, so I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249474&page=1. Unfortunately it returned an error, it appears I have a 2.21 ROM, so I want to downgrade the rom, which brought me to this thread.
I've downloaded the CUSTOM_RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe, and ran it. I get the first few screens (the caution-screen, the prepare-screen, the Update screen, the verify screen and the last screen). After that I get the screen where a percentage bar should start moving. My phone-screen is now divided in about four horizontal parts.
The first one is red-fading to black, and it reads RUU on the top-right, and the line below it reads IPL 2.21.0001. The last line in this part reads SPL 2.21.0001.
The second part is similar to the first, but it is green, without any text. The third part is similar to the green one, except it's blue.
The last part is smaller than the previous parts, it's plain white (about two lines high) and reads USB.
On my PC I get a screen telling me:
ERROR[300]: INVALID UPDATE TOOL
This Udate Uility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get newer Update Utillity.
What am I doing wrong here? (BTW: I'm a computer-expert and a phone-noob)
By the way, the verify screen reads:
From:

Help. Ive got a Brick !!

Can anyone please help with my brick ? ? ?
I tried to go to WM6 by unlocking the CID and the phone - so far so good. Read that i needed IPL/SPL 2.xx or higher so set off to search. Found IPL/SPL 3.08 so installed those to my phone. Then tried to upgrade to the WM6 official rom found on these very pages. Now every time i flash i get update error 302 at 99%.
Im almost sure its the IPL/SPL but i have nothing to backtrack to and not a lot to back this theory up as im still a newbie in the ROM area. My original versions were 1.02 each as i have a G3 O2 XDA Mini ( wizard )
im really stumped and phoneless at mo so ANY help would be grateful for.

you say with the wm6 oficcial there is not a official rom for wizard tellme what rom do you used

I bet you went from 1.02 to 3.08 without stopping at 2.xx
Maybe that's the cause?

Mestrini - Yes i went straight from 1.02 to 3.08 coz i cannot find the V2.xx IPL/SPL files but i have found the updater solely for the IPL/SPL to 3.08 which is what i used.
is that any use ??

flash your phone with the tmobile 2.26, that should correct your issue. It will also give you the 2.26 version of spl/ipl

ok if you had a cid unlocked device search in the forum for the t-mo 2.26 ipl/spl after you can update for the rom as you tell

Thanks for the advice guys, ive tried several different roms and i have a consistent problem where it will not let me change the rom as ( i think ) my SPL version is still 3.08 and every ROM bombs out with "this is an upgrade only"
help me downgrade my IPL/SPL back to 1.02 pleaseeeee

i have T-Mobile MDA and Im stuck with spl 3.08
I did everything.......... and I mean EVERYTHING and nothing helps me bring back my MDA to the original T-mobile software or downgrading the SPL.
1. Downgrading my IPL to 1.01 (using button rom)
2. Unlocking CID with lokiwiz (successfully)
3. Running button rom again
The SPL still stays 3.08 after doing the above...
If there is another way to downgrade the SPL 3.08, please let me know. I really need the T-mobile original rom version.

dont suppose anyone can cook up and IPL/SPL downgrader like the one i used to upgrade to 3.08 can they coz with SPL3.08 i cant downgrade ROMS coz i keep being told i need to acquire a newer ROM for my device

Thats your problem, reflash the 1.02 rom again, both IPL and SPL have to be the same.

i know... i need to find a way to drop the SPL back to 1.02 or thereabouts. i cant flash back to the T-Moblie 2.26 ROM coz it says my SPL is too high. i upgraded my IPL and SPL using a rom updater now whatever i try i cannot drop the SPL version.

Are you sure you have a G4 ?

No, I have a G3. But according to "How to flash a new ROM to your Wizard... a little tutorial!" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613, if I have an IPL/SPL of 2.xx, I need the wizard_love rom. Read last sentence of G.2.
I used the button ROM. It brought my IPL down to 1.01, but my SPL is still 2.25. Is that OK to proceed?

Keep reflashing the button ROM until both your IPL and SPL are 1.xx. It may take a few times. I think I've read where it's taken some people as many as 7 or 8 times to get them both down. Be patient and make sure your battery is good and charged and when you get them both down, then run lokiwiz to unlock your phone.

After at least 15 flashes with button, still no luck. I started with Cingular 2.25.
The button I am using is CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.
My IPL is down to 1.01, but my SPL is still 2.25. How in the world do I get passed this?
It really sucks when you can't get past the first step .
P.S. Should the SIM be in the unit during the flash? I've tried it both ways.

Not sure if it matters if the sim in is in it or not, but make sure your SD card is out because that causes problems a lot of times. Here, download and try this, it is an IPL/SPL updater only. It has version 1.05 of both which might be able to bring your SPL down so you can unlock your phone.

Tried it several times. No luck, SPL still stuck at 2.25, but thanks for the help. Anyone else out there with this problem?

That's weird, usually it happens the other way around and people get their IPL stuck at 1.xx when they try to upgrade back to a 2.xx but the SPL upgrades without a problem. Since you already have the button ROM on there, go ahead and try and see if it will CID unlock for you. Run lokiwiz and see if it gives you any errors and if not, download and install Wizard Service Tools on to your computer and then run it and click the CID actions button to see if it tells you that your CID is unlocked. If it does then your safe to start upgrading. For some reason I have a feeling it might just work for you.

same here, got the cingular 8125 and flashed the rom. I can not get the spl down. I have 2.25 as well. ahhh what other rom should be good for a cid unlock

That doesn't matter.
Try flashing Tmobile 2.26 then again the 1.05 Button ROM
From what i know the Wizard Love is only for G4 Users. G3 users should flash Tmobile stoc 2.26

not all g3 are the same!!
i have experienced the same with my g3 (IPL/SPL 2.18) when i tryed to downgrade the spl... ipl 1.05 and spl 2.18 still remain... just try to unlock spl with lokiwiz02b and relax... i tried to install tnt 5.0 23 times before i unlocked the spl... just read and apply this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
i downgraded and reupgraded my spl locked g3 (qtek 9100) in 45 minutes at the state of art...

I have found that the SPL doesn't matter. Go ahead and run lokiwiz and you will be ok.

yeah i got throught just run lokiwiz02b cid unlock and then update to tmo rom

AKU3 stuck

format is failed after a power outage in the middle of ugrading with shell tool.
made it worse bu trying to flash with tmobiles latest rom.
so now i'm stuck in boot screen with the following
Device is g3 with
IPL 3.08
SPL 3:08
GSM 02.69.11
OS 3.8.2.1
did i mention CID unlocked?

Let me rephrase the question.
I have a friend who saw me use shell tool to upgrade my cid locked wizard.
He went home to try the same on his cid locked g3 wizard.
he had bad luck and it was interrupted mid way through so he brought me his dead wizard.(stuck on bootloader)
The only official rom i had was Tmobile's 3.08 so i flashed it to try and revive it.
it flashed and finished but still stuck on bootloader.
when i try and hard reset it says "format is failed".
button rom wont work, wizard love wont work, sd method wont work as it is cid locked.
Any ideas?
And if none, will imei-check work..

Get the official stock ROM for his Wizard, then flash it and you will get a working Wizard back.
However, if the IPL and SPL still stays at 3.08, there is possibility that IPL and SPL not downgradeable, so unlocking may not be possible.
Another thing...by CID unlocking the Wizard, there is no reason to use ShellTool while you can actually use RUU directly! Using ShellTool may lead to incomplete update!

Hey, the stock rom (tmobile 3.08) succesfully flashes but the wizard still doesnt boot. it gets stuck on the first screen.
Any more ideas?
BTW i'm very experimental so i'll try anything..

Have you tried to flash the wizard with Hard-SPL or Soft-SPL.
I had the same with mine wizard (G4) but Hard-SPL worked for me.
You have a G3 so I don't no if it will work. Otherwise read this thread first post

Here's the thing, after I load the rom the screen says:
IPL 1.01
SPL 3.08
GSM 01.12.10
OS 1.5.4.2

Try to flash back to Button's ROM, then try to use Wizard Service Tool to unlock CID and verify that CID is unlocked in WST.
After unlocking successful, you can flash with any ROM you want.

You already got IPL 1.xx,there's no need to flash back to Button's Rom,just try to CID unlock with WST Tool,hope it'll work out.

I tried that but the thing is when i turn on the device it comes up with a screen and the info I've said before. It doesn't go anywhere else. Just to that screen that have this info in red colored.
and everytime i want to flash a rom into it, the device says flashing from language cingular, and it never changes. How can i put it back to factory default?

First enter bootloader by pressing Camera+reset. After enter the tri-color screen, flash with Button's ROM.
