Downloaded WM5 Pocket Mechanic Professional 2.61.204 and tried to install on my MDA and I keep receiving that it is not a valid PPC application? I have unzipped it and tried various versions to no success.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Did you tried running the setup on your PC instead of Wizard? Many PPC software requires installation from PC.

I was hoping that someone would not come back with that answer. I cannot use ActiveSync and have had problems since 09/2006 and cannot connect using ActiveSync. So, normally I download all CAB files and install directly from my MDA. I have tried everything to get ActiveSync to work. I have spent many hours using and trying all suggestions posted on this and other forums to no avail.
So, if PocketMechanic does not have a CAB file, I am not going to be able to use/install it.
Thank you very much for your reply and time. I greatly appreciate it. I guess I will try to use SKTOOLS.
Thanks again STARKWONG!!!
I just checked, and pocket mechanic does have a cab file installation version. Maybe you just downloaded the desktop installer by accident. Try redownloading the cab file version and try installing it again.

Thank you for your response. I did find the CAB file version of PocketMechanic. I downloaded V 2.61.204 Trial Version and just my luck the Trail Version expired. So I will continue to search. This is where I obtained the TV:

Thanks again!
Did you already have a trial version of Pocket Mechanic installed on it before? If you did, then it won't matter which trial version you try because once the 30 days is done with on the first version you installed your 30 days are done on all of them. The only way to get another 30 days worth of trial is to do a hard reset on your phone and then install it again.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my posting. No, I have never installed PM before. I would not do a hard reset as I have too many other applications that I would have to reinstall. I gues I will just call this a 'write-off.'
I greatly appreciate your time and knowledge.

Thank you for your information. No, I have never installed or tried to install a version of PM on my MDA. I would not do a hard reset as I have to many applications on my MDA to reinstall. Yes, I could do a restore, but I don't believe it is worth the effort. I use SKTools (free version) and that will suffice my needs for now.
Thanks again, I greatly appreciate your time and knowledge.

If you've never had it installed on your phone, I'm not sure why it would tell you that the trial had expired, it shouldn't. I just downloaded the newest version and put it on my wizard and didn't have any problem. It still had 30 days left on the trial. What tools that pocket mechanic has are you looking for? I may be able to help you find freeware versions that work just as well.

I just like to try different software. I am online a lot and do a lot of searching for new/different apps. I am tired of sinking money into apps and then finding out they do not live up to their overviews.
Examples of some are SPB Weather, Traveler and Finance. Weather is off by 4 - 5 degrees, Traveler looses the weather when you do a soft reset, Finance is not compatible with Quicken 2007. I have a lot of sw loaded on my MDA and constantly look for better apps. I will post a list of what I do have and use later today.
So, with PM, it was a matter of comparing it to SKTools. I do use SKToolsLite as it is free. I also use SKTools and only get the 6 results.
I do appreciate your time and help.

Since you've never tried pocket mechanic before, maybe you mistook how it opens as the trial being over. When it first opens, it plays an alarm bell sound and shows you a page that says Notice at the top, if you read it it tells you how many days you have left in the trial, then when you click close it pops up another page that asks you for the serial number and if you click close again it will let you access all of the modules.
If you're looking for a really good weather program, try Weather Panel. Just go to this thread to check it out - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307781. By the way, most weather apps get their info from the closest weather station to your location so if it's off by 4 to 5 degrees it's propbably not that close. Also, the difference between the temp in the city and the temp in a very close rural area can easily be 4 to 5 degrees different, sometimes even more.
As for finance software, sorry, can't help you there. My entire finance method is keeping track of things in my head and an occasional checking of my account online to make sure I didn't lose track.

No, I tried to use it twice and both times it was very clear that the Trail Period ended. So, I will just forget it.

You still ca install most of the progs which come only with a PC installer even without Activesync being able to sync.
Just install the app, at the end it will tell you the software will be transferred the next time you do activesync.
Now the trick
The installer has created a folder with the required CAB files.
Either directly under "Programm files" or under "programm files\microsoft activesync"
Just pick the CAB and put it on your HTC

Thank you! I didn't know that. I tried it and YES, it does work. A CAB file is placed in the Microsoft ActiveSync Folder. Thanks again!

Hi!
I'm new in WM6 world so my question may be simple but.....
Upon migration from Treo 650 to TyTN II, I've moved all my Calendar from Palm Desktop to Outlook using Calendarmirror.
Then I'm trying to sync it into TyTN.
If I accept to have it sync'ed from 6-months back onwards, it works fine - it takes some few minutes but it works.
Problem is if I want - and I do need - to have ALL my calendar entries copied into TyTN II (which means also item that date back some years). It runs 15-20 minutes before I decide to stop the process. No signs of progress is shown.
I am not sync'ing to a server, just locally.
What is your experience ? Is it common ? Can it be solved somehow ?
Please consider that I have some 2300+ elements in Calendar, a material part of is recurrent.
Thank you for your help.
Do you have outlook open when you sync?
If you do, try closing it. I've heard of slowdown issues when you have it open.
I have over 6000 calendar entries and syncing does take a LOOONNNGGG time. However, this should be mostly a once-off issue - after this is done, it only syncs the differences. A long time for me may be over an hour.
The only fly in the ointment is when I get the dreaded "changes at server require full resync" (or something that sounds like that), then I just have to wait. And Wait. And wait ...
I have come from the land of Symbian where everybody agreed syncing was cra9, I though life would be so much better on the m side. I was wrong, syncing is cra9 everywhere and - knowing a little about this - I remain pessimistic as to it getting much better in the future :-(
I migrated from a 700p and had the same problem. It would just hang on syncing the calendar. I could have tried leaving it there for a couple of hours, but after an hour and no visible progress, I gave up.
I ended-up purging my old appts from my palm and resyncing. I guess I'll never know what the date of my last few haircuts were...
Hello everyone,
My Brand new Tilt, 1 week old, seems to be missing program memory.
I have ~85Mb total, 33 in use, and 51 free.
This is about 20Mb lower than the units I played with in the various stores when I began shopping and from various review sites. They have ~101 total, 25 in use, and 75 free which I verified when I exchangfed my unit for another new one.
A hard or soft reset don't do anything. I do have an 8Gb microSD card installed and only iContact and iDialer installed to it. Removing it did not help of course.
rom:3.57.502.2 wwe dated 7/17/08
radio: 1.65.21.18
protocol: 25.88.40.05H
I had originally thought my Tilt was defective and exchanged it for another and voila, I get the same reading. Next I thought it maybe the few dozen contacts stored on the sim; deleting those had no effect naturally.
Does anyone have an idea of where the extra memory went?
Thanks,
Tim
ps - I would also like a recommendation. In reading here I came across the video driver thread. Being able to connect to wifi, play games, and watch movies were the criteria in getting this phone. Should I return this and get the Samsung Epix or the Fuze (if its in at my store yet)?
Thanks again,
Tim
Bloatware?
Hello Popatim,
first off, welcome to xda-developers. This is a great site with a lot of cool people and is rich with information. First question for you, do you have bloatware installed like the free trials and demos of useless software? If so, follow the instructions in the wiki for the att tilt, here. That freed up a ton of memory for me. Hope that works for you,
Dave
Just to be clear I am referring to Program Ram and not Storage.
removing the bloatware has freed up about 10M of storage and my program Ram is at
total: 85.32
In use: 32.64
Free: 52.68
...not much change I'm afraid.
Any ideas? Whats your phone at for comparison.
Your RAM numbers are totally normal. The phones you saw in stores must have been running older WM6 ROMs with a smaller pagepool, leaving more available RAM.
However, I wish you luck trying to fill those 52MBs. I think I came close to that once, running about 20 applications simultaneously including several particularly heavy ones.
i.e worrying about that just makes no sense.
And my Kaiser has always played videos just fine.

Well it does make sense if you use for example opera mobile I have about 40mb of memory free on my kaiser. When I open S2P it drops to around 30 and with opera mobile running with all three tabs open it can drop to 5mb and less...and then the system closes one of the apps to free up some memory.
Opera mobile even with 3 tabs open never used more than about 12MB here...

It depends on the site....for example try watching a youtube clip in opera you'll see the difference
This an issue which is well documented in numerous other places. Please try searching before opening a new thread. Redundant thread closed.
I'm looking for a winmo replacement for a Palm app I used called Stop3Watch. This program allowed you to time 3 vehicles at the same time, and would log multiple laps for each vehicle. The program also allowed you to input a track length in miles and then would display average speed based on lap time. Is there anything equivalent for our Touch Pros?
If you just want a stopwatch you can try SPB Time.
Here's a simple stopwatch, created by one of XDA's members, Ageye.
It's called G-Watch:
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=download
There's another called StopTime I found just the other day...
Apparently it's a somewhat old app, but was created so using your fingers to start and stop is quite easy. Not only that, but you can have several timers going at the same time (up to 4).

Anyone know of any countdown timer software that will allow me to set 2 countdowns to do Tabata intervals?
A tabata interval is 20 seconds of exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest.
So you set 1 timer for 20 seconds, another for 10 seconds, and they countdown consecutively. You do this 8 times and you have a grueling 4 minute workout.
Anyone know of any Windows mobile/Raphael software that will allow me to do this?
Thanks.
I don't know of a software already set up for that, but you could write a simple mortscript that would count and then play a tone at the end of each interval, set it all in a loop to run the number of times you want(8).
Here is a java tabata timer.
http://tabata.sperker.de/index.php?nav=download&d_sub=dld_mob
An option
Hello!
A couple of months ago I created the attached application. It is as simple as ugly, if I would have more time I would create a better GUI, but it is doing what I wanted and it was created for me
It requires .NET framework 3.5
Delayed start: 1..10 seconds to put down the phone and prepare for the first round
Reps: number of cycles
Beep/Vibro: It plays \windows\default.wav file and/or vibrates when the ongoing interval is elapsed
Time1..Time4 four timer each can be set from 1 to 100 seconds, and cycle is 1-2-3-4
So for a tabata set reps to 8, time1 to 20 and time2 to 10, delayed start is optional
Hope you will like it.
Regards,
KZD
The application as is, please backup regularly, responsibilities are not mine, etc.
Will try it as I really need one ...
Thanx a lot ...
Well it's exactly what I needed
I'd like some advices about wich tools to use to develop and ... would you share your code to enable me to try and add some new functions (select sound, save parameters etc ...)
Nice - I am on vacation and need a way to keep my CrossFit workouts going while gone - this should help nicely. Thanks for sharing!
