First of all, I am a complete newbie and needs directions from experienced.
Bought AT&T Tilt on eBay and this is my very 1st smart phone of any sort.
It came with Schaps 4.30 Rom.
I have 3 questions.
1. Where do I start as far as cooked Rom is concerned ?
I've started reading Kaiser and AT&T specific wiki but not sure if I should
try and upgrade. I see there are other variants for WM6 and WM6.1 but I
don't even know how bad is the stock one.
Is there comparision/bench marks for different Roms ?
Btw, I won't be using any internet-related program for next 6 months.
Assuming I stick to Schaps 4.3 Rom for while, I have 2 issues.
2. Whenever I go to Setting->System->Screen->Align, the phone freezes
and only way out of it is to soft reset.
All buttons don't work and the screen doesn't respond to tabbing.
What is wrong ?
4. Alarm clock. I have been using my old mobile phone to wake me up every
morning. It's loud and continuous until I press stop or snoop in which case
it goes off again in 5 mins or so.
However, the one in Setting/Clock in Kaiser is no way near annoying.
Its volume is very low and all the alarm sounds that I can choose are too
friendly to wake me up.
Is there a better alarm program out there ?

Some of your problems sound like the could be related to YOUR device specifially. Look up all the "newbie" guides to flashing in the search section. (top right...lower...lower..there it is.) Try changing your rom. I use mostly Alex's and dutty's stuff. They're dummy proof.
well it all depends if u want to flash ur phone to another rom..no one else is gonna make that decision for u...just make sure if u do read all the wikis...ALL of them and make sure u have a good understand of it...make sure u read other wikis relating to it as well...

I see the thread is closed. I was in the process of replying when it must have been closed. I think you might have some hardware problems from what you describe. I would NOT flash a new ROM until you try to pin down the cause of the lack of screen response and buttons not working. These two problems can be associated with a loose d-pad connector or ribbon connector.
This depends on which buttons are not responding.
If you flash with a broken digitizer then you will face problems when you come to thw automatic alignment screen following the flash. To flash would be a gamble. It could solve your problems BUT it could mean you cannot get past the alignment settings screen.

i feel a bit of panic right now.
as i just reached for my tytnII and look at it's wonderfull features i see my screen is flipped like it's screen is slided away form the keyboard, flipped horizontaly. nothin can restore it, actually slinding the screen, device off/on, removing he battery.
f*** is this going to be a trip to the htc repair shop for my phone?

Sorry to ask for help like this, as I had tried reading through, but I really got more and more confused.
I got only next 2 days to give my diamond a last try.
Till now I still can't truely understand what is Hard SPL, I tot all Diamond should have.
If I wanted to try the following combination (like what Bro Radeon has), how to do it in the right sequence and step by step, I tried and stopped at 0% and error 262,
SPL - OliNex 1.40 Developer Edition
ROM - SwiftBL WWE Diamond ROM v4.0 (1.93.405.1)
Radio - 1.00.25.05
After flashing, if things goes through, how I revert back to original factory default, so that warranty and resale is not a problem.

SMS turns blank
Hi All,
I had to do a Hard Reset after my sms hanged up on me.
The screen turns blank whenever I need to compose new msg or reply.
When it is in blank screen, when I click on Menu, it says, can't encrypt or something.
Has anyone encouter such a problem.
Diamond has many nice things like, the best screen which I have seen so far and the best design, but battery and the hang ups are just too inhibiting to enjoy this unit.
I reluctantly contacted ppl who wish to trade their Omnia with my diamond, really can't bear to part ... Help help

those are pretty serious issues.. your diamond shouldn't be going blank.. have you tried returning it for a new set? and yeah, you should be able to follow the guides on my site if you want instructions.
So, I've been a member here for quite some time. I wanted a PDA2k when I still my my wallaby, but couldn't part with that much dough (I now have a mutant sx66 that cost me about $28).
I had read the wiki on how to upgrade ROMs and what not, and never asked myself the question: What actually happens when you flash the wrong ROM (WM5/6, for example) to a CDMA Harrier? Does it not work at all?

Harriers cant be upgraded, they will brick if you attempt to.
Yes, but what happens. Curiosity is killing me. Do they just not turn on, or get stuck at bootloader, fuchsia screen of death (I made that one up, but it sounds good)? Ooh, do little gremlins climb out of the screen?
my touch hd screen froze and phone just hanged..i tried hard reset on my touch hd and it got stuck on align screen..(as i kept tapping screen to align an nothing hapnd).. moreover win mo 6.1 was a bad experience.. now i wan2 upgrade to win mo 6.5..i read a lot win mo 6.5 available here..as i am a new member of this site pls suggest a link to get new win mo6.5 for my phone and also way to install it( as i am a beginner)..pls help as my phone is standing dead right now..pls bring it back to life..
This is heppaning when no one read here in the Blackstone thread all is writen step by step guide and again the new members don`t read and prefer to kill the HD lol...

help..stuck on align screen even after rom upgrade..
after hard reset my htc got stuck on align screen stage..i upgraded my htc touch hd to a new rom..topix wm6.5 sense 2.5...it ws successful..but again after reboot the phone hangs on screen alignment step..i just keep tapping screen again and it never aligns..i cant get my phone started even now with new rom..pls advise what to do next...my touch hd is still dead..help me revive it...
If your HD is not responding when you try to align it, it may be that your touch screen isnt working, not that it has crashed. flash a stock ROM and try to be sure.
i think, your touch screen has broken, you can't do anything except replace the screen & touch screen with the new one.

touch screen problem even after new rom!!!
Hi everybody. I have skipped screen alignment and my home screen opens with new topix rom wm6.5 sense 2.5. But again some of the touch feature works on the screen and some not(even at the same screen location!). Also on the home screen touch scroll, if i press any icon phone keeps goin to the last icon of settings and doesnt scroll back to home. Also the four feather keys below screen doesnt work. Hence I cant still use the phone..Wat could be the problem? Some say touch guard causes problem or the cables inside phone gets loose..Changing Touch screen of HD is very xpensive & nt readily availabl too..So i want2 try evrythin b4..pls answer..

Your post was 2 days before, i am not sure whether your problem got fixed.
If it is not.
1. Switch off your Device.
2. Remove your SD card
3. Press and Hold the Volume up and Down button, while pressing the volume up and down button, press the power button.
4. Now your screen will show whether to perform restore function, now press the volume up button.
5. After completion of the restore function your device will start normally.
6. Once your screen alignment done.
7. Switch off the device, install the SD card and just switch on the device.
if the problem is not found with out your SD card, then that might be some application issue or the SD Card issue.

Read about Task29 and read the dummies guide.
As suggested, try a hard-reset (or better use Task29).
If you still have the problem after that there is probably something wrong with your screen.

Hi guys..I am still stuck with my touch hd..even with new rom phone is just a showpiece..cant figure out wats the problem?? is the screen alignment gone or is it a software problem..touch hd touchscreen is v xpensive and my phone is out of warranty...so wan2 try anything n evrything if possible..pls help..for detailed explanation pls read my earlier posts!!! nd help help help....
Dude try to pay attention, download a stock 6.1 rom from htc web site, remove your memory card and sim card, hard reset your device and load the stock winmo 6.1 you downloaded. even after that if problem remains .. there is definitely a hardware problem then.
And first before everything else... what version of SPL you have on your device????
