I have Qtek 9100 and installed Cingular ROM before which locked my phone. I run custom build Wm5 now but there is 2 bugs which are killing me which I did not have before with Cingular ROM (flashing orange indicator when there are no notifications and weekly hang for no reason). I'm wondering if there is Cingular ROM out there which would not relock my phone again.
You can load the offical Cingular ROM from the HTC website http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8125/software-downloads.html without relocking your phone. Plus, you can't relock it, once it's done, it's done.
Last time I applied the ROM it locked the phone. You mean applying ROM will not lock it? I don't want phone to be locked.

May I ask: I upgraded to the latest 2.17 ROM. Are we sure that the device remains CID unlocked? If I decide to downgrade, shall I CID Unlock again?
I upgarded from the NL shipped TMo ROM, but I want to keep the extended ROM. Do I just copy the CABs and execute them or is there any dedicated too?

I have a Vodafone VPA Compact II (HTC Wizard) in German.
I will relocate to USA and I want to update my phone OS etc. into English (Cingular ROM).
I know that I have to first unlock my phone and I used both Lokiwiz02b and aWizard 1.3 beta 2 in order to unlock my phone. And these programs let me know that my phone is unlocked.
"Your phone is now unlocked...."
I have tried both "U. Unlock" and "C. CID Unlock (SuperCID)".
Than I have tried to install Cingular ROM "RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe" but I still get error msg 294.
Than I tried other Cingular file "Cingular_Custom_AKU2.3_Combo_Installer_V1.exe" and it was installed without any problem. But I have still German in my phone. As I understand this file installs only Extended ROM of Cingular.
Now I need to install an English ROM and when possible a Cingular one.
Any tip?

I have found a solution.
Lokiwiz02b does not work for AKU2 ROMs. I've just downgraded my ROM into an older version and than applied Lokiwiz02b CID unlock with success.
Than I upgraded my ROM into new Cingular 8125 one and works great!

I downloaded Viet4 and run upgrade, on welcome screen on PC during upgrade it does not correctly detect my Wizard and shows as ROM 1.0.0 and for new version it says only blanks.
After upgrade device just boots to previous version of the ROM (2.26). What am I doing wrong?

Joking aside, you need to give more info such as do you have a G3 or G4? Did you CID unlocked your device? The error you have given usually meant that your device is CID locked.

sounds like you didn't CID unlock before trying to flash a rom that didn't come from your carrier.
and the upgrade tool will not have the right info in those fields. If your phone is unlocked the upgrade will work properly. Make sure you use the correct procedure based on whether you have a G3 or G4 phone.

What is your IPL/SPL. And how do you know it was never locked? Have you personally unlocked it? Have you ever flashed any rom that was not from your carrier successfully?
If you have a G3 (ipl/spl 2.26/2.26) then I suggest following the full unlocking tutorial thread that is stickied. Trust me your phone is acting like a locked phone. If you haven't personally unlocked it then just humor us and do this. You will be amazed at the results.
If you have a G4 (ipl/spl 2.26.0001/2.26.0001) then you will have to use the pay website to unlock your phone. There is no other known way to unlock G4 devices at this time.
I assume since it was bought in Russia and branded as Qtek 9100 then it was not locked. Is it possible that ROM upgrade to Cingular ROM actually locked my phone?

SIM unlock will allow you to use any sim from any carrier without getting an invalid sim error. If you aren't getting this error already you should be ok not doing it but it doesn't hurt to do it since you are in there with Lokiwiz already.
The tutorial tells you to do the SIM unlock first then do the CID unlock.
once you are completely done don't forget to flash up to a 2.x rom (2.26 T-Mobile rom suggested) before flashing a custom rom.
At this point when you flash the custom rom your OS and possibly GSM will change (IPL/SPL may change if you use a rom that includes them)
You should be good to go once the CID unlock process is done completely.

Right now you need to install the button rom again to get both IPL and SPL to 1.05. At that point you can flash back up to 2.26 and then to a custom rom of your choice.
The reflash of the button 1.05 rom is to ensure that you are truly unlocked. you will see that both IPL and SPL go to 1.05 -- this is good
The flash to a carrier 2.x rom is so that you have a good 2.x bootloader and don't inadvertantly flash a 2.x rom without bootloaders into 1.x bootloaders which will cause all kinds of issues.
Yes, you must flash a full 2.x rom before flashing the wm6 rom. The T-Mobile 2.26 is the recommended rom as it has the latest bootloaders available.
Then you go to the rom of your choice and enjoy

This worked. The only issue now after I installed WM6 it starts installing some T-Mobile crap which appears belongs to 2.26 ROM I installed before. How can I clean install of WM6 without any T-Mobile stuff?

Might have to flash a rom that has an empty extended rom before going to the one you went to. My guess is that the rom you flashed did not include an extended rom and when you flashed it the customizations ran from the previous roms extended rom since it was still there.
Faria's 3.3 v2 has a settings chooser menu so you can select settings for whichever network you are on but that only sets up MMS/GPRS stuff, and doesn't install any carrier specific apps.
Never mind, I recovered using some old iMate ROM. The problem now is that iMate ROM updated SPL/IPL to 2.16 while I had 2.26 for both before. Is it ok to run with 2.16 or there might be some issues? What is SPL/SPL are used for?

2.16 should be fine. It is 2.xx and that is what really matters.
The issue that some people encounter is flashing an AKU2 or higher ROM into 1.xx bootloaders and have all sorts of issues, phone won't charge, radio doesn't show up, pda works but phone doesn't, battery drains quickly and no way to recharge, etc.
Well after finally trying to upgrade my rom i am now stuck at the screen with red green and blue that shows my IPL and SPL.
Can someone tell me where and what rom i can use. So far all the ones i have tried dont work

I had a molski rom working on it before i just wanted to update cause alot of things stopped working. I use cingular service so i cant use the tmobile rom. I have installed the tmobile rom so i know it will take a rom. Im just having a hard time getting anything new to work. the CID was unlocked at one time will that change when i tried to upgrade or reinstalled the tmobile rom?

No, you should not have to unlock it again, unless you burned the button 1.05 rom again. Then you have to unlock it again.
so which rom which i try? Its a T-mobile MDA G3 and im using it for cingular service?

Download official stock rom of your carrier and flash it in bootloaders to recover back to its default working status,then if its a G3 phone, downgrade to ipl/spl 1.xx by flashing Button's Rom and SIM/CID unlock with lokiwiz02b,but if its a G4 ,it cannot be CID unlocked but can be upgraded to wm6 through 'SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL'.

I can’t find any official qtek rom for test
And I also try R2SD all with romupdate115 it not work

You got to have a CID unlocked phone to upgrade to any wm6 Rom.Sometimes SPL do get stuck up at 2.xx while downgrading with Button's Rom,it takes a couple of tries to get it downgraded to 1.xx.Flash the button's rom a few times more till it gets downgraded.You can only CID unlock your phone,if it has IPL/SPL 1.xx.

Don't use those ROMs as they are for G4!!!
If flashing original ROM doesn't solve the case then you'll have to buy the unlock program from IMEI-check company.

No. the problem is simply of messed up firmware. I believe that the SPL tries to load the OS but it must be at a different address and never starts to load.
The IMEI-check tool will simply CID unlock your device. You still have to do the "r2sd all" procedure...
