Ok. So here's the next silly question.
I have now successfully upgraded my xda2s to the new o2 1.4 ROM with BB Connect.
Can I put a work Vodafone sim into the 2s and use the Blackberry account attached to it, or can I only use an o2 associated account?
Cheers.
Any ideas guys?
Cheers
I bought a Cingular 8125 from eBay and recieved it today. I unlocked it with loki and it works on my T-Mobile SIM and my AT&T SIM. I was talking with a member of the forums here and he told me to purchase unlimited MMode for $25 a month and I can get EDGE data from AT&T. I purchased it and went through steps to use "My Work Network" but when I use IE it says "Connecting to Cingular GPRS" and doesn't connect. Any idea how to fix?
Also, I see AKU 2 is available and I was also recommended to flash my ROM because I don't need the Cingular bloat (I'm not even using the Cingular network!) but I have no idea what to use.
I wanted to try the AKU 2 but I don't have 50 MB free on my phone so I'm going to buy a memory card tomorrow... is that what I should use?
Also, regarding Outlook and ActiveSync... can I set contacts in Outlook 2003 to be Personal and Business and then have my phone only sync with the personal contacts? How?
Thanks!
this is the post that was left by a user in a topic i started. Maybe its because you didnt do the radio rom ?
i'm posting this from an unlocked 8125 on a cingular blue (old AT&T) plan and I absolutely love it. I see no slowdown where i'm at compared to the cingular SIM chips. on dslreports.com/mspeed I average between 125 and 155 kbs.
if you still can hurry and add unlimited mmode for $25 a month before they completely freeze the at&t accounts so that any change/add would warrant a migration.
once you do, get your 8125, carrier unlock it, cid unlock it, flash with button's cooked rom, flash with radio rom 1.13, customize your extended rom to the way you want (no need to use the cingular extended rom, its just bloatware because your on at&t's settings.
to get edge working just set your connections to connect to "my work network" on both settings, then go into my work network and add a connection "cellular (GPRS)",name it at&t edge (or whatever you want. now the important part is that you have to set the apn as "proxy" without the quotes. then set this connection connects to the internet under the proxy setting.
leave username and password blank and domain blank. that should do it, then connect to internet explorer and you should be surfing on edge. good luck.
I paid full retail also, $490 after tax, and it was worth every penny. I could have got it for $250 if I migrated and used my FAN buisness account, but my blue plan is sooo much better. good luck.
Check out this link if you're still having problems setting your 8125 to work with the at&t network. It's not exactly for the 8125 and WM5, but its very similar. I believe this is for the blue angle and WM2003.

if you still have questions after looking at the link let me know and I'll try to help.
Oh and no, you don't have to update the radio rom, the radio rom update will probably help with reception and edge speeds, but won't have an effect on connecting to the network.
Kenny- I've got my 8125 working on Cing Blue. If you need the settings PM me and I'll copy them out to you. It was a pain but I got it working in the end.
Marc
Thanks for the replies guys.
KINetics: I read the guide and realized I needed to edit the Cingular GPRS connection, and I did as it said... and got a little bit further. My 8125 says connecting to AT&T GPRS, says "locating..." and then returns the error: "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later." Any ideas? I have 4 bars when this happens, and the E icon (I'm guessing it's EDGE) is showing at the top.
Also, I want to have the phone as upgraded as possible... and I want the internet to work, which is why I'm thinking about updating the rom. Can you tell me what I'm best doing and how to go about doing it? I'm getting a 1 GB mini SD card today.
Thanks again!
SUCCESS!
I got the internet working!
I went to connection settings and to the proxy tab and unchecked use a proxy for internet.
Thanks for all your help! I just need ROM advice now.

Okay this is how I have blackberry connect working on T-Mobile USA tmobile MDA
1* downgraded to tmobile de 1.06 rom
2* installed BBerry connect software from TMo De
3* logged into my tmobile changed my phone to a bberry 7100 and clicked change hanheld, the pin was autopopulated for my new device.
4* sent service books.
Here is the thing, the 1.06 rom blows hard chunks and is unusable compared to the 2.26 rom.
my question is , has anyone been able to use any other rom besides the tmo de rom from back in the day?
how about the cheetahs BBery connect software?
I know there is another thread on this but it is Uber long and is filled with more questions than answers, so if you know please post here and dont ask too many questions.
My setup worked with BIS I dont use BES.
I've been using Qtek 2.17 with 2.47 radio. Working without a problem so far. My service provider is Tmobile as well.
It won't allow me to send an attachment over 60k though, and I can't download most of the attachment, some kind of error. What's your experience with the rom that u've been using as far as attachments are concerned?
I don't use it anymore cause I had the same problem as you, I was wondering if there was any clear progress in this project
Has anyone managed to get the Vodafone Business Email service working after an upgrade to WM6?
Vodafone are currently telling me my account isn't enabled for the VBE service (strange, it was last week!) which is adding confusion.
I am NOT connecting to an exchange server, but to a pop3 email account, if that makes a difference.
David
For posterity:
Vodafone seem to have sorted the problem at their end. Without changing anything on the device, tried connecting to the service again a few weeks back and now all is working OK.
So, to confirm, Treo 750v WM6 Vodafone Business Email ( vbe ) all compatible.
David
Hope every one is well,
guys I am aiming this thread at UK T-mobile Vario III users, so please dont be offended and please dont hijack this thread
Now that out of the way, the thread concerns Blackberry connect from T-mobile and has anyone had any luck getting it working with the MDA vario III using a T-Mobile UK based sim card for corporate email,(not personal email, but email solution(work email))
I know some of us have got BBC to work with the kaiser, using software etc supplied by other companies/ parties (including myself)
But has any UK T-mobile mda vario III user got bb connect working downloading the official version of the software from http://updateservice.t-mobile.net/blackberry/download/folder.do
Thing is they do not have the MDA vario III listed on there devices section.
I have got BB connect working using BBC software supplied by HTC
Heres the link and follow the instructions take around 15-30 minutes for corporate email.
http://www.america.htc.com/connect/8925/
Issues that I have and reading through the forums seems to be affecting a lot of fellow users, is that using BB connect on the device really slows the device down and makes it sluggish! Ontop of that, Once I had done a corporate activation using BBC I could only receive emails from that point on, and any old emails that I had would not be visible in my inbox. To a point I thought it was not working at all, until I got an email and realised that yes, I can get emails via BES but not old emails prior to the setup.
Come to think of it that’s my BIGGEST gripe with this, the device sluggishness and email issue.
As for installing T-mobiles BBC software from there site, I downloaded MDA Vario II’s and installed this, Got it installed both on the device and the desktop, the device software registered and I had a PIN assigned, done the device config update via the desktop, but that’s as far as I got, It kept trying to connect > connecting> connected> data tunnel available > not connected<<
So it kept looping around.
The only thing I could think about is that BBC software I download from HTC/RIM allowed me to do a corporate activation (as am BES admin- I could set my own password etc) but the BBC software supplied from T-Mobile does not allow this,
Vario III users
Have any of you got your devices working with the t-mobile UK bbc and corporate account?
Guys please don’t hijack this thread and go off topic, I am really only after pointers on getting this working with a T-Mobile UK sum card with MDA Vario III using BES.
AS for anyone else after advice of getting BB connect working on there devices, there are so many threads and if none of them offer you what you are looking for start a thread of your own, and people like my self and others will try our upmost to support you. End of the day this a forum and posting threads is part of what the XDA-developers experience is all about.
