Ordering online and warranty? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I'm going to order the Kaiser online and unlocked but what does concern me with ordering online is the support for possible problems down the road.
Are there any specific sites I should look into ordering from based on their own offered warranties for products or would I be safe sticking with HTC's default warranty of I'm assuming 1 year standard coverage as long as I didn't drop it etc?
any ideas on how I could purchase an extended warranty if the site doesnt offer one? The Kaiser is very expensive, 875+ USD and it would be quite a shame to drop it and be out ALL of that cash.

Elite Electronix offers a 3 years warranty for 76.00. That's how I bought mine.
http://www.elite-electronix.com/product_info.php?products_id=1015

Thanks for the link!
The problem I see with this site is its around $25+ USD more expensive than other sites and for $75 extra they're offering to only extend the manufacturer's warranty. That's not bad but I'm wondering if anyone sells something that could cover a broken screen for example. The manufacturer's warranty only covers defects I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Have you checked with your household insurance? They may offer a generic package.

I am heading to London next week, I will probably pick up my TYTN II there... Whats the warranty for the product after I return to the US? I want to buy it with my amex to extend the manufacturers warranty another year...

Recommendation for Insurance on My Kaiser ?

Looking to get some insurance for my Kaiser in the event of stolen/loss/accidental damage. Can anyone recommend any that is based in the UK based on there own experiences.
Cheers
gave up on insurance here. had it on my Imate Kjam and they wouldn't compensate me when I lost it. So cancelled it after I bought this.
I am with CUSC foneguard, they offer a new replacement if yours cannot be repaired. I found many of the companies google finds to be all the same, just differant websites all offering the same thing.
Check out CUSC and see if its any good for you, I found them to be quite helpful however they will want you to pay the full years cover due to the high cost of replacement.
Hi
Remember the only reason insurance companies offer insurance is overall they make money from it, so instead of them making a profit, be your own insurance company and profit instead
Either offer yourself free premiums, or charge yourself and put the money in savings account somewhere.
Do this with any domestic item you purchase by never buying an extended warranty or insurance plan, and you save far more than you will ever claim from yourself.

ebay warranty?

This link here is for a tilt on ebay. (sorry for the bad link before, should work now)http://cgi.ebay.com/UNLOCKED-TILT-8925-PDA-CELL-PHONE-HTC-WIFI-POCKETPC-GSM_W0QQitemZ140239057232QQihZ004QQcategoryZ3312QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem obviously used but the guy says it's in great condition though. Here's what I'm curious about. If you look about half way down the page he says that he can offer a two year warranty. Is that real? Is it trustworthy? I really need some advice here. Thanks. SPACE
Oh, and does anyone know if the brand new tilts come with a warranty in the box?
Ebay = warranty expires when the item was posted to you. remember it's a garage sale. Unless you like to take a chance, I'd avoid.

I dont see a link?
I think after u leave a positive feedback, he will forget about u immediately.
I bought my kaiser from ebay used - it had a few knocks on the housing so I just bought a replacement housing and keyboard and fitted it. Now my kaiser is as good as new!
I wouldn't bother with looking for warranty on ebay - I guess there is some risk but as long as you check out the seller reviews, things should go fine...
If you want to pay less, get one that's got a few scratches and is locked to a service provider - you can sort these things out yourself.
I've bought my last couple of phones on ebay and sold them there too.
If you are talking about the warrantee you pay for that is offered as a paypaa additional service, then it's fine. BUT, check their terms & conditions. Usually you can automatically check to see if an item is elligible. I have used it before, but I bought a brand new BlueRay, had a manufacturing defect, & was sent a check from Paypal.
ok, well I don't really trust their warranty and the pay pal thing I know nothing about. The used phones go for about 350 or so in general but I can get a new one in the box for 400. Do the new phones have a warranty of any kind in the box when you get them?
The warranty is provided through SquareTrade.com IF you decide to pay for said warranty.

Handtec warranty on Galaxy Note for US buyers?

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a Note from Handtec, but was wondering if anyone knew how warranty service is handled for foreign buyers? I'm in the US and would hate to have to send my phone in and wait for weeks if I were to need warranty service, but I'd hate it much more if I had no warranty at all. Anyone know?
Insure your phone through a 3rd party mobile insurance provider or your homeowners insurance.
Do you have any recommendations for third party warranty or insurance for these types of phones?
I hear a lot of good things about SquareTrade.
Does anyone have info on warranties? What's Samsung's position on a manufacturer's warranty? I appreciate the 3rd party insurer suggestion, but it seems like a warranty would be best for issues such as manufacturing defects. Does Squaretrade or renter's insurance even cover such phone issues? I thought they were only for loss or accident.
I was looking into 3rd Party Insurers and found one (www.toughcell.com) that covers both theft/loss and device defects but the actual site and relatively low pricing made it seem somewhat questionable so I don't know if I should give it a try...
ATT support only in the states?
I put it on my American Express. If anything goes wrong, they'll cover me.
I would've figured credit card protection would only work so long, like 30 days or something. What if the display goes out 6 months down the line? I'm surprised nobody's been able to say what Samsung's warranty policy is on this for foreign countries.
Why do you need 3rd party insurance? The phone comes with 2 years manufacturer warranty.

Manufacturer Warranty isn't valid on Import Phone's [Like the EU/UK Note] in the USA.
cant you just then ship it back? I have family in poland so i can just ship it to them and have them send it in for warranty if that ever proves to be the case
I have had square trade warranty in the past and they are awesome.
However no luck for us now for items purchased outside USA
Here is the mail that I got from them
Thank you for contacting SquareTrade.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to get our coverage as the insurance polices, we offer are only for the items purchased brand new within US and are only for US residents at the current point of time.
We might increase our coverage area in the near future but unfortunately, we are not doing so at the moment.
For customers who live outside the fifty United States, the SquareTrade Care Plan is only available on items purchased from our integrated resellers who allow for International purchases like Crutchfield.
Hope that answers your question! You can also reply to this email or call 1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) US & Canada only, 24/7.
Thank you,

Will squaretrade cover an import bought from a retailer within the US? I'm sure they'll start popping up soon.

They will . They covered for my SGSII from expansys
I spoke with Handtec and expressed my concerns over the warranty on the Galaxy Note. They said:
In this case the device will come with 24 months warranty, it will need to come back to Handtec and then we will send this to Samsung on your behalf.
So I'm satisfied and will place my order! Of course this is for Handtec only; other retailers certainly have their own policies.
I got a 24 month insurance policy from ensquared - $99 for $1000 coverage at a $75 deductable. Peace of mind.

Nope, they don't cover this as it won't have a US warranty.
But good to know Handtec will send it to Samsung on your behalf. That's nice. You have to trust them, but the seem reputable.
hey guys what about this
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-GT-N7000-Unlocked-Cellphone-US-Warranty/dp/B0067HQL30
EDIT: ALSO its on NEWEGG
and there is no warranty info.
it says US warranty (blue)
anyone know what that means?
also i dont know if you guys read but apparently there are some serious screen issues on these devices.
Maybe I'm missing something important here, but wouldn't buying from Newegg make more sense?

Isn't that from their U.S. store or something?

Accidental Handling Warranty in the US

Does anyone know if squaretrade will work on an imported Galaxy Note? I'm not about to drop the money on it if it is questionable whether or not they would cover a replacement at least up to the $600 limit.
Just looked at newegg and I could have spent $20 more for the opportunity to get a 1 ($60) or 2 ($150) year ADH plan. Bummer for me, but maybe it will help somebody else.
I have never broken any of my electronics in the past, but this giant screen on such a thin device has me worried.
im also curious about this
use safeware they cover it for 2 years for 78-ish dollars without theft, or 1 year for 98 with theft

Thanks for that! Applied for 3 years protection against theft/accidents on my "$700 tablet" for roughly $160.
I have square trade on my Galaxy Note; paid $69 on Black Friday for 2 years coverage.
SquareTrade will not cover it with ADH. The $89 warranty is only for parts and labor on the fault of the phone. If you break it, you are responsible for the damage costs. Also there is a $100 deductible on any claim.
I have used SquareTrade for the past few years, and unless you buy a device from a phone store, they will not warranty ADH on them.
Their warranties are 2ND to none if you can get the ADH on the device. They fixed an iPad, and iPhone, and paid me back for my Galaxy S II that got burned in a campfire. But since I bought the Note on eBay (New even) they will not provide me with ADH on it.
Any Ebay purchase, new or otherwise is not eligible for accidental.
Ity was said that they would not warrenty a device that does not have a US warranty...but I called them up and gave the guy the website(handtec) and he said that I could get accidental if I ordered it from that website. Now, handtec does offer their own warranty where they will help you out for 24months after your purchase, or if it's within the 1 year Samsung warranty they will act as a middle man. But this is not on their website. Either way, I bought a $98 2 year AHD from square trade for mine, thinking at least if I do bust it, I may be able to get $600 out of it. If they say it's not covered, I'll ask for my $98 back since it was never really valid anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up on that warranty. That is a great policy. I signed up for 2 years since it covers EVERYTHING.

That is a shame, I have had ADH through squaretrade on a previous phone and despite not having any claims was very satisfied with the terms of the plan that I got from them.
Safeware seems to have been around for a long time, and most of the complaints I have found are against their extended service plans rather than their ADH/Theft plans, and they seem really flexible in which devices they will cover. I had to do a tablet plan because their only unlocked smartphone coverage was for iPhone, while all the other smartphones listed were carrier specific.

I emailed them specifically about my device gave them the link to the website I bought it from and got a call with a quote and all, I'm still fishing around but I think I'm going to buy it from them because they offer the most for the least amount

I bought my note new from amazon, but the note itself is from Germany.
All they (safeware) asked for proof of ownership at the time of application was the serial number, and I had to pick a second proof of ownership that would be provided in the event of damage or theft, and I chose 'receipt' since one was sent in the shipment with my device.
They never asked where it was purchased from though, so it doesn't really seem that important to them I guess. All they seem to care about is the cost to replace and availability, not whether the device or seller is native to the US. If a replacement can be attained at the coverage amount specified then it should go through.
This is most likely so that they can easily cover ebay purchases.
i have 2 years ADH thru squaretrade. paid $89 + $99 deductible.
bought the phone from amazon (a reseller)
talked to several different ST reps and they all confirm my phone is covered for $600
I already mentioned that I got 3 years of ADH + theft protection up to $700 through safeware for just under $160, but I did not mention that this is with $0 deductible.
Squaretrade says it must have a 90 Day US warranty for their warranty to be effective??? Thats why I went through Safeware.
I've used squaretrade for the past ~10 years, not too many troubles. I do have a bit of concern on their discrimination when it come to smart phones.
The iPhone is a cheaper warranty and you can also add an additional year. You can't do this with any other smartphone (HTC in particular).
I know it's due to the masses of isheep (ie - economies of scale) but for their purpose it seems like it shouldn't matter.
My two cents.

Why wouldnt it matter? Iphone parts are ubiquitous and everyone knows how to fix them. An esoteric n7000 which almost no one has in the usa (a year of owning this phone, still never seen someone else with one) means a tech will need more time repairing it and parts will be hard to find.

Samsung s8 purchased new on ebay, warranty and accidental warranty coverage confusion

I just bought two new s8's off ebay from reputable vendors...
I have found after contacting squaretrade their (good) traditional 2 year coverage options ($79 on $500-$600).. squaretrade also has their $129 for 2 year deductible coverage, with $99 ded., which they claim if the glass breaks might only be $25 (my main concern was cracking the screen over anything else.. unsure what the cost is to send into samsung for this phone by comparison).
I then spoke to one rep there, they said the accidental $129 wouldnt apply if bought on ebay, but then i looked at their FAQ, it doesnt state this.. contacted another rep and they said it COULD be bought.. i guess the answer is yes to that one.
Assurant also offers standard 2 year warranties but i dont see accidental options on ebay at least (and no experience with them).
ATT wont allow you to buy their $8.99/month option unless the phone was bought from them.
The only other option out there is the premium samsung for $11.99 per month (they dont seem to have the protection plus option which i think was around $100 for the s7 edge) ..
Are these really the only valid options i guess?
Leaning towards getting the ST accidental $129 on one phone while buying the $79 on the other (standard one).. ST was always nice because after the main warranty ran out, any issues with the phone, using their standard warranty they would refund the original amount paid.
Thanks for any suggestions/validation
