CID Unlocked
Ok, so heres the deal. I've been reading thru the forums for the past two day, and have got nothing but a headache. Keep in mind that I'm fairly new to this. I managed to get WM6 Faria v5.0 on my phone after a few hours of fidiling around
What I'd like to put on my phone is NBD, not sure which version tho. I have it downloaded onto my computer, but when i got to flash it. It come up with Error 208, File Error or something to that nature. Anyone have any advice, or where i can find a very good guide on how to do it? Any help would be appreciated

as you say that your device is SIM/CID unlocked and already using wm6 Faria rom, then I don't think there shud be any problem upgrading to any other new rom,as to the error 208,wud you plz post the exact error what it says,if it say it's a file error...can be related to a missing file called enterbootloader.exe. ,then most probably the file you downloaded is corrupt.which NBD rom you have downloaded.download latest NBD Rom from here and try to flash.
For NBD 9.2

But I'll also advice you to flash back again T-mobile 2.26 to have a clear solid base again to start off for upgrading to new rom,it wud give you the advantage of clearing any misappropriations happened during your first install of Faria Rom as it is quite old build.flashing t-mobile 2.26 will give you a new clean base to upgrade make's sure your extended_rom is clean and uncorrupted, it causes all kinds of problems .sure you'll be fine good luck

So then i tried Flashing from bootloader, the Red, Green and Blue screen and then i got Error 240 "File Open Error". I downloaded NBD 9.2 from the link you provided? You have any idea what the problem could be?

ERROR [208] : FILE OPEN
These error messages indicate that RUU lacks certain important files and cannot continue with the update. Please get the complete RUU package again.
as t-mobile 2.26 flashed and loaded good, than there's no problem with your bootloader,Ok,Now do this, remove your phone from the usb cable(disconnect it) and do a Hard reset of your phone by doing this :-
1. Press and hold the comm manager button and voice command button on the device together with one hand
2.Keep the two buttons pressed, and at the same time, with other hand, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button
the device will reboot and switch back on.
then delete active sync, reboot your PC,Run disk Clean wizard on Drive C:\ ,check all options in Disk Clean options, specially Temporary internet files and perform disk cleanup, after that delete all cookies in Internet options.
than download the latest version of Active sync ver 4.5 and install.
after this go into bootloader mode in your phone and connect to PC,but don't establish connection with Active sync, cancell the connection when it asks
when you connect witusb you'll see small usb showing at the bottom of bootloader screen (tri color screen) if it's there then open the rom file and try to flash, hope it'll be ok.
just post your present IPL/SPL...? it appears in red color when you switch on the phone and on the boot screen at the top.whatever the ipl/spl..? is there at the moment just post it,ok
I still believe the error 208 is due to some missing files, may be the NBD rom is getting some corruption
anyway you can also download official rom from the official site of your carrier ( the rom which came prinstalled when you bought the phone)
or download this rom and see if it flashes:-

Ok so I did everything you told me to do in your 2nd to last post : deleted activesync and clear cookies and did disk clean, and hard reseted my phone. I keep getting the Error 208
Current IPL/SPl are both 2.25

IPL/SPL 2.25 G3 AKU2 version,
ok,now tell me,when you flashed the original rom,was it successful, did it load up ? is your phone working normal with the original rom ?
I just feel as your phone is still not CID unlock,do one more thing, download this WST tool from the link below, install and run it,then post whatever report it generates,ok
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170
Ah 1
so,when you flashed with T-mobile 2.26 you had ipl/spl 2.26,afterwards you flashed back with your original rom,is it cingular rom ? so ipl/spl 2.25 is registered. Both of these Roms T-mobile and original(cingular or ?) which you flashed are official roms.so only official roms are flashing and not the custom builds, hmm, so custom build rom can only be flashed if device is CID unlocked.
It means may be your device is still not CID unlocked ?
But i did CID unlock, because thats how i got Faria v5.0 on my phone. Do I have to CID unlock everytime i flash?... Ok so i ran that program you told me to and heres what i got.

replace the files from MUNN with the one in NBD,
just a hunch may be bootloader of your phone not accepting romupdateutility of NBD,lets replace and see,it might do the trick.
you are awesome.... its loaded NBD... I guess it was a corrupted file. Now does this mean i can put TNT on my phone? If so will i have to replace those files?

hi,
i looked around for instructions on how to upgrade the ROM but i couldn't find any.

how do i go about installing it? is it like installing a regular application? i have a Qtek 9100.
thanks,
Re: Simple guide - Unlock Vario and update to other ROMs
For anyone else who has had the same problem as we did, follow these simple instructions:
First download lokiwiz v2b. Don't use previous versions or you'll not get through this!!
Hard reset your device (not necessary, but it ensures you'll have no hassle with Activesync).
Done that? Good. Extract the lokiwiz v2b .zip folder and copy enablerapi.cab to your memory card or to 'My Documents' folder on your device. Then execute the 'enablerapi.cab'.
Done? Just switch off the device (power button; put it in standby mode).
If you have Activesync already installed, un-install it and re-install directly afterwards (ensure a brand new partnership).
Then when prompted by Activesync, plug in your USB cable PC-PPC and it should recognise as usual.
Then execute the lokiwiz.bat file (in the folder that was generated earlier when you extracted the lokiwiz02b.zip file) and when you see the MS Dos (black screen) choose the option CID Unlock (SuperCID) and wait for it to COMPLETELY finish. You'll know it's finished when your Wizard is re-booting. Plug out your USB cable at this stage.
Once re-booted and back into WM5, re-connect your cable and if all goes well it should re-connect to Active Sync (wait till it has finished syncing or says connected!).
Finally......double click the executable file, which should be:
RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Hopefully it will now install the ROM without hiccups (about 10 minutes).
Sorry to you gurus for the lengthy explanation, but some of us are still relatively inexperienced to this and a thorough (if you can call it that) explanation of the processes will really be appreciated. I certainly have done when some of guys broke it down to me in the past.
I'm hoping this ROM will not dissapoint me as the others have done, as I've been getting quite frustrated and angry about the whole WM5 & HTC thing.
Good luck.

thanks for finding the informaiton for me!
Thanks for the breakdown. I am new to all this, and not too au fait with all the developer terms, and it can be quite intimidating!
I have an O2 branded XDA Mini S and want to use it with Vodafone SIM card. The device is unlocked, so I can make and receive calls - good start!
However, I want to get rid of all the O2 branding and install the vodafone GPRS/SMS/MMS etc. settings. From what I've read on the forums, the O2 stuff slows the unit down, and it will all be irrelevant anyway. Does the extended ROM you refer to above then get the unit into an "unbranded" state?
Basically, I just want the unit without any trace of O2 (boot splach screen, O2 active etc.) and to be able to put the Vodafone settings in manually...
Thanks
Thanks mackaby007 - managed to update rom using your instructions, and got rid of O2 screen using aWizard!

I have the exact same problem. Both Loki and aWizard don't work.
Typically when you want to downgrade your phone to an earlier (or shipped version) you need to first downgrade it to Button's 1.05, then you can "upgrade" to back to the desired 1.x or 2.x ROM.
Is that what you're asking?

how is possible to downgrade the wizard phone to 1.05?
I have a T-mob wizard phone with inside IPL 2.21.0001,GSM 2.19.11, OS 2.21.2.6.
Have I to follow the below step?
1)dovngrade to 1.05 . Is necessary only OS or boot loader and ratio too?
2)perform again the flashing procedure.

looks to me that you have a "G4" chipset, I can tell because you are reporting the IPL 2.21.0001 and not just IPL 2.21 Maybe someone else can verify this???? If so please please DONT try to flash before you have researched "G4" chipset flashing first
Dear sir,
you true!!
I have just read a post were is explained that if you have G4 chip is not possible to downgrade or upgrade the ROM.
Bootloaders (IPL/SPL) with .0001 at the end of the version are G4 flash chips.
This info will be very halpefully for everybody need to perform any flashing action on wizard phone.
Do you confirm that is actually not possible to solve this issue?

Alex

OK.
My wizard have G4 chip inside.
I was been able to remove the SIM lock.
If I try to CID unlock the device I receive CID unlocked successfull but after a ROM update the device stuck at startup.
Now...if I pay on http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ 20£ will be possible to change the ROM?

Hi,
I discovered a SW named JAFWM that is able to flsh evry ROM.
Is this true?
@squarna - Sorry mate but TBH with myself not having a G4 chipset Ive not taken much notice of any post relating to them, if no one else jumps in soon try starting a new thread with the title like "G4 chipset What roms work?" or something and good luck!

Flashing and upgrading a Radio Rom is not much of a difficulty, just download the Radio Rom of your choice, attach the phone with pc via usb cable and run the RUU application in the Radio Rom,it hardly takes one minute or two to get flashed and complete.Check out the Radio Roms in the forum of your choice or read the 'wiki'
Cheers!
thank you
Ok i ran the RUU and it all runs nice up to the page were is states the old version you have on and that it will upgrade to the following, there it is just blank. i have read the readme and i still can not find the problem. can it be that my Wizard is stil CID Locked?

Flashing or upgrading just Radio Rom doesn't require CID unlock,Its not an OS,it doesn't include any IPL/SPL in it,it just upgrades the GSM of the phone, which is not integral part of any Rom (OS)
Yes ! sometimes the upgrade utility do not show the details of the Rom its flashing,it doesn't matter, just click for upgrade,it'll start the process.
Cheers!
Within the past 2 hours, I have flashed 2 ROMS:
1. TNT.19199 Series V.2 (Offcial/Professional/TouchFLO) WM 6.1 Real Port
2. WM6.1 For Wizard OS 5.2.19521 buit 19521 WWE
I did a HardRest to T-Mobile ROM, connected to ActiveSync, went through the XP-ROMUpdate Utility until 100% completed, Clicked on Finished.
Saw the TNT Series It's Right with 2.26, 2.26, 2.25.11 and 2.26.10.2.
Then for some unknown reason the MDA restarted and came back up with the T-Mobile Hard Reset Screen and ask for a tap on screen, etc., to go through a total reset back to the T-Mobile ROM.
What did I do wrong?
Even after the T-Mobile ROM reset I still see the TNT Series It's Right with 2.26, 2.26, 2.25.11 and 2.26.10.2. screen but then my MDA is displaying the T-Mobile Today screen with the default Today stuff.
What do I need to do?
Thank you.
It sounds like your phone is not cid unlocked
Did you follow these steps for unlocking before flashing ??

Thank you.

Used WST V 0.4.0.0 and did a CID Unlock and received notification that CID Unlock completed. Do a Soft Reset which I did do.
Tried again to Flash both ROMS and they did show 100% competed/finished.
MDA softreset and showed both first screens of flashed roms, then went into Windows Mobile T-Mobile.
So, what did I do wrong?
This is the message I received after the CID Unlock:
All Done. CID Unlocking is finished and you
can now flash any ROM to your device.
All Done.
Don't forget to soft-reset device!!
A file with new CID value was created.
A backup file was created in program's
folder to restore to previous state.

Thank you.
You didn't read the stickies carefully.
You need to flash the Button's ROM to have your IPL and SPL lowered to 1.01 before unlocking!
YUP !
It is must to have IPL/SPL 1.xx to CID unlock the phone,so read the sticky carefully and follow the method correctly.
Cheers!
Thank you both for helping me. I do agree that one should read very carefully. No excuses. However, there is so much to read and so many postings to read from. Again, I do appreciate your help and now I will find the T-Mobile Origirnal 1.xx ROM to load and go from there.
I will post this and I hope I do not get flamed. These are just suggestions from a new person. Please accept them as such.
1. Why did WST display that my MDA was CID Unlocked when it really was not? Should there be an edit up front to check for the correct IPL/SPL?
2. Why did both ROMs go through a complete cycle and then display that the ROM was completely flashed when it was not. Should there be an edit up front to check to ensure that the CID is Unlocked rather than go through all the install?
3. Why did both ROMS leave the splash screen on the MDA? Is there a way to get ride of them?
I know, read the threads before you take any action. Thank you both! You are right.
1.
CIDkey: MODULESN
CID IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CID: WIZTMU01
Phone is CID LOCKED
WST does NOT show that it is unlocked...
2. Yes, there is checking in the Original RUU, all RUU in our custom WM6 ROMs are modified to bypass the checking. That's why it won't work if you try to flash another Carrier ROM to your Wizard without replacing the RUU program.
3. Just flash your original ROM (IPL+SPL 1.xx), unlock, and flash it again then you will get back the original splash.

(Not to disagree with you, but I did get a display that:

So, WST did display it CID UNLOCKED my MDA. That should be corrected in WST.)

(I was addressing not the Original RUU, but the Flashing ROM that does not check or bypasses the checking. Would this help others if this edit was performed prior to executing the complete Flashing?)
3. Just flash your original ROM (IPL+SPL 1.xx), unlock, and flash it again then you will get back the original splash.

(Yes, I will do this. Thank you again for your help.)
Don't ever trust the successful message when you unlock CID (This is the same for using LokWiz02 also). Always perform CID check again after unlocking, that is the real status.
Cracking is not easy. Bypassing operations is relatively easy. Adding operations is very hard, so...

You are correct. One must never ASSUME that something is done. I wonder how many others have fallen into the same trap?
Latest status for me now is that I have:
IPL 1.08
SPL 2.26
01.0.9.10
2.26.10.2
So, I am back to the drawing board and trying to flash again. Tried WST and TNT and still did not take.
Maybe I am doomed to be with what is on the MDA.
Thank you again.

There's no such trap, its just that the method is not correctly followed, either missing doing some step or doing a step incorrectly, resulting in not getting the things done correctly.
WST tool will not work in bootloaders ( multicolored screen) or in the splash screen stuck up.Secondly,TNT Rom is a wm6 rom,it won't flash or work with IPL 1.xx,it has to have IPL/SPL 2.xx and a CID unlocked phone.
after you flashed Button's Rom you got IPL 1.08 and SPL 2.26,reflash the Button's rom a couple of times more to make IPL/SPL 1.xx,it sometimes takes more then one flash to downgrade ipl/spl 1.xx,then apply lokiwiz02b to SIM/CID unlock the phone, upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx by flashing T-mobile 2.26 or official stock rom of your carrier AKU 2 Rom,only then upgrade to TNT series wm6 or 6.1 Rom.
Cheers!

Well I finally flashed TNT 19199 Pro and it did install completely. I did use Button ROM which installed 1.08, 2.26.010.9.10 and 2.26.10.2. Then I used WST to CID unlock. Then I flashed TNT.
The main reason for me trying to flash a new ROM was that my MDA Touch Screen capability is very sporadic. It works some times, but not all the time. The only way I can get it to work after the Touch Screen is no longer touch sensitive, is to re-flash. I know that is not practical, but I want to try to resolve this Touch Screen problem.
Even after this latest Flash of TNT, I am still experiencing the same Touch Screen problem of not recognizing using the stylist.
Any suggestions? I assume that it is a hardware (MDA) problem and not a software (ROM) problem.
Hi, just got my wizard the other day (Used off ebay, Unlocked). I've been reading thru all the upgrade posts and I've come up with some questions I'd like to ask before I take the plunge.
First, the info from my wizard.
=====================================
Wizard Service Tool v4.2.1
=> Bootloaders:
IPL: 2.25 (G3 device)
SPL: 2.25 (G3 device)
Built on May 12 2006 at 00:37:41
=> Firmware:
OS: 5.1.xxx (Build 14928.2.2.0)
ROM: 2.25
Registry AKU: .2.2.0
Radio: 02.25.11
Protocol: 4.1.13.12
=>Extended_ROM:
Version: 2.25.11.102
Name: Extended_ROM
Status: hidden
======================================
1. Since I used WST to get the info, it said the first thing to do was hit the Enab. RAPI + Unsigned Apps button, which I did. Is this the the same as copying the EnableRapi.cab from the lokiwiz instructions?
2. Will the CID unlock in WST work with this phone or did I need to use the lokiwiz method? Minus the SIM unlock since it's already done.
3. I saw a post about formatting the EXT ROM to get rid of the carrier branded stuff, in this case cingular. Can I do this before I do the button rom downgrade/Tmobile 2.26 Rom install? The only reason I want to do this is so the cingular stuff doesn't get put back in whenever I do a hard reset.
4. Last one! I see that the IPL/SPL can be upgrade by itself. Should this be done or just keep whatever comes with the rom you install?
I'am sure most of these have been answered before, but after several days of reading I just wanted to double check and make sure I knew what I was doing.
Thanks......Grinch843........

Yes,you can CID unblock the phone with WST tool but first you'll have to downgrade to IPL/SPL1.xx by flashing the Button's Rom 1.05,It's mandatory to have ipl/spl 1.xx for CID unlocking,However, lokiwiz02b method is more recommended. You shud also check with WST tool by hitting the 'CID Action' button,if it might be CID unlocked already,as its SIM unlocked.
There's no need to formate the EXT Rom,as you'll be flashing Button's and T-mobile,it'll automatically get replaced by the External Roms of these Roms and the cingular External Rom will be replaced.
When you'll flash Button's Rom,it'll replace the IPL/SPL to 1.xx,required for CID unlocking, but when after CID unlocking, you'll flash T-mobile,it'll upgrade to 2.26,which is must for upgrade to wm6 there's no need to upgrade the ipl/spl manually.
All the latest custom build wm6 Roms don't include any IPL/SPL upgrades in them,so the Ipl/SPL will remain as 2.26,There's nothing to worry about,as its the most stable bootloaders (IPL/SPL)
Cheers!
Thanks for info --- Soon as I backup everything I'll give it shot and see what happens.....

Greetings all.
My Kjam G4 hangs on 2nd splash screen. After reading hundreds of posts over the last few days,
I am still not clear on my next step, without making phone any worse.
History.
Phone has HARD SPL.
ipl 2.21.0001
spl 2.21.olip
Used Molski wm6 rom last month or so. Flashed WizFlo 20273 v6.1.1.3 last week. Completed ok .But now hangs. Flashed wizard love and other roms via bootloader. completes ok. Still hangs on splash.
Hard rest results in "format is failed"
"r2sd all" completes ok. Pressing dial button does not start restore.
I have previous backup of different components using wst tool and also KJam official rom.
Questions:
1. With HARDSPL , is the phone CID unlocked ?
2. With the SD restore not working , does this imply phone still CID locked ?
3. Is there an official Kjam rom without ipl/spl ?
4. Hard reset is supposed to format "UA". Is it possible to flash a backup of UA (as made by wst )to the phone ?
Thanks in advance , and forgive me if I have not followed protocol this forum.

1.With HardSPL, Nopes! phone is not actually permanently CID unlocked like G3 device,Its semi-permanent CID unlocked by flashing patched IPL/SPL,thus tricking the Bootloaders in thinking its CID unlocked, whereas, its not actually CID unlocked.A G4 device can not be permanently CID unlocked (SuperCID),its just made to trick.
2. As the phone has HardSPL,Sdcard backup through mtty r2sd all command is not possible, coz the Bootloaders are patched, not original official. To carry out sdcard method, you'll have to first remove HardSPL,flash back the original official Bootloaders(IPL/SPL),only then its possible to perform sdcard method.
3. Nopes! there's no k-jam official rom without IPL/SPL,what you can do is to extract k-jam rom and remove the Bootloaders (IPL/SPL),repack the rom and can flash it,but without official IPL/SPL.The only way to flash the official k-jam rom is to first remove HardSPL,reflash original official k-jam Bootloaders and then flash official stock rom.
4.UA back up made by WST is again only possible to flash after removal of HardSPL.
5. Wizard_love or any other official rom with IPL/SPL in it will not flash, unless HardSPL is removed, infact,it might 'Brick' the phone,so avoid flashing any rom with IPL/SPL in it.
Try to flash any custom build wm6 or wm6.1 in Bootloaders and remove,if any, Sdcard inserted in the phone before flashing a rom and remember to have a fully charged battery before flashing.
BTW, send a PM to 'mestrini' the inventer of this magical tool WST_4.2.2,may be he can advise you better on this problem of 'Format is Failed'

Hi,
If your device is a G4 try this:
1- Download Wizard Love ROM.
2- Download ROMUpdate Utility V2.5.2 .
3- Try to enter to bootloader mode. The bootloader can be entered by holding the "Camera" button while resetting.
4- Copy the Wizard Love ROM's nk.'nbf' file to the ROMUpdate Utility V2.5.2 .
5- Run the 'romupdateutility.exe' and then follow the instructions of the application.
Best Regards.
Hi md_bluelily
