I just got banned from their forum for mentioning XDA. I think they are getting a little sensitive about people using the "leaked" ROM's instead of buying the new 8925 that came pre-loaded with WM6.

They probably might not release official WM6 for 8525...Instead they will make us to buy 8925...same thing as they did with Wizard...

Yeah, I totally agree. I would change companies, but I don't think I could get as good coverage or as much for my money with another company. Oh well, I've got at least 20 months left on my contract to shop around.

I got tired of having my post edited, So I said something about and I did not use any abusive words, I was professional, I again got my post hacked for being direct. All I said was that some of the so called cooks/hacks out there had some good ideas and that many OEM's got some of their ideas from people like that. My main ***** was as with my Blue Angle not update ever came they lied "Fall" Q2, Q3 then the Mobile 5 devices and they just droped the whole thing. SO I got a CU500 last year saw it at Comdex AT&T had a isplay about Video calling "soon to be on the AT&T network" but they didn't sell the CU 500V just the CU500 but I was told that if I bought the CU500 I update "Firmware" upgrade would be out in January to make it a 500v and I would be able to use it for video calling. Guess what they never upgraded the 500. Now I get a 8925 bacause the soon to be WM6 will be out and I will be able to upgrade for free. and I am tired of waiting they said spring then Q3 Now it's Q4 and the new WM6 device is out and do they want people to upgrade no they want you to buy a new phone with a new 2 year contract.. Well I want the Kaiser and even though I can get it through the business channel of AT&T for $300.00 I am buying it from HTC for $759.00 I will never give AT&T another dime of my money except for the air charges. Ed, I'm positive they had shell posters. Just in the last couple of days, there were a lot of first time posters that were siding with AT&T in the WM6 thread.
I really don't care about being banned. I've learned way more in this forum than I ever learned in theirs. But, it was kind of fun taunting them with XDA.

I just could not believe the come-backs I was getting. One guy I had to wright back an ask if he thought he was going to be offered a job from AT&T. I never saw such brown noising in all my life. I remember noticing that they were all first time posters so looks like the moderators are pulling double duty. I also thought it was funny how they edited the reference I made in comparing AT&T to Cuba's control of it News and TV stations, which they edited the word "Cuba" and then reminded me about my use of language and not to flame (not their words) others which I was talking about AT&T and defending another poster which the Moderator's were jumping on. I have been with AT&T then Cingular and now AT&T now for 10 years and when it comes to customers service, I mean when I need help with adding or changing service plans or bill issues, they are fine even pleasant , Now when it comes to Tech Support they are the worst, their people are not trained, you can talk to 5 people and get 5 answers none of which are close to the truth. It's like their reading from que cards , ask a question that's not on the card and they put you on hold and go ask the giant orb in the room for the answer. Then they come back with the answer which leads you into the next question and on hold you go again. WM6 is not the issue, the issue is I am being manipulated and lied to, for the purpose of being led into buying and extending my contract. When and if they release WM6 you and I know it will be filled with memory leaks and demo software and slow as hell. The first thing I do when I get something from them is unlock and re flash. I just don't like paying someone to screw me. If I wanted that I could go to a whore house, at least I would be smiling. anyway nice to know someone out there feels like I do. Take care!!

Being that they are such a friendly neighborhood forum, maybe XDA should respond in kind... (IE: instant ban on referrals originating from at$t subnets, also banning all known at&t subnets registered in DNS, and, simply a bash session of questions that would be more suited for 'novice' forums like at&t rather than a polite ‘nudge’ to forums more suited for the user, and finally, instant ban on anyone even hinting of the company name at&t... or hey, even better, why not patent the B.S. at&t puts customers through as a business process and litigate for infringement...)

Well in fact I would buy that from AT&T, because they are sponsoring this phone, ie they loose money on each phone sold. Unless they obtain an over 50% discount from HTC, which I really doubt
I agree with a lot of your post. I would switch away from AT&T and try T-Mobile if they didn't have the best coverage in my home area. To bad. You are right about customer service with AT&T. I once had a $532 dollar phone bill and kept arguing about it. After I talked to 4 different managers at AT&T they finally reversed all of the charges except for the $67 that was my monthly service fee. There customer service is far better then Verizon or even Sprint. I've been with AT&T / Cingular / AT&T for 11 years. Had the same number the whole time. I guess I have a dumped a signifigant amount of money into there company.

All I have to say to that is that it's BS as I never posted any links to "These evil forums" and they just don't want me posting about the fact they broke 3G authentication with AT&T Legacy SIM's!
Hey Die Hard, I've seen your recent posts on the AT&T forum and sympathize with you.
I don't know if you can get unbanned, but you can re-join under a different user name. Since I had been reading the forum using Firefox, I simply fired up IE and went to their support page, chose the ATT/Cingular (HTC) forum, chose register, and then chose potential AT&T customer rather than existing customer. Bam, I'm back on the forum. You could also clear out your AT&T account info and use the same browser you were using when you got banned.
I found my IP somewhere in the profile settings on their forum, so they must not ban by IP address.
Yesterday, someone went really crazy and started posting pics of 2 old men having sex and got the whole WM6 thread deleted.
I have already made a new account... And I even linked it to another number in my Family Plan.
I just think they are doing everything wrong currently!
I am assuming I must have posted in a thread that someone else posted links in or something and they just banned everyone in the thread but like I said.. that's just wrong!

Register as a potential AT&T customer instead of one connected to your account.
The thing is, I don't think you're going to get your problem resolved by venting in that forum. I would try emailing Stan Sigman who is the President and CEO. I have done that in the past and have gotten my problems resolved to my satisfaction. Also, filing a complaint with the better business bureau couldn't hurt.
Of course, you could keep doing what you're doing and getting the same results.

Well, according to this article, Tilt will cost $299 with a 2-year contract and $375 with a one-year contract. Btw, the release date mentioned in the article is October 1st.

Finally and it is good to here that it will be reasonable priced which will make the device open to more users...thus it will be hacked sooner. We need cooked ROMs casue you know ATT will **** up the OS. First thing we will need to hack the PTT button since ATT PTT is retarded and its one more button that can be useful.

No offense but I think Ill go buy one online if I see another frickin post like this. Not directed at you sherpa, just venting a bit. I am just tired of hearing things like "supposedly" and "we heard" or "rumored" I have had a few sources tell me that it will be this month....PERIOD.... I just want to see a date posted on the site saying it will be released on.... I personally dont care if its 3 ****ing years from now as long as they can just say it rather than the cause the whole guessing game.

Dude, I feel the same way too. I get frustrated hearing all these rumor dates but at the same time get excited. Just like you, I would rather hear a firm date from AT&T (be it three years from now) but it would at least make me constantly visiting different sites all the time. Now, I also hope info posted on the link above is wrong (the date part, that is) and hope the date is something earlier than that.

I dunno wp...At 299...something has to be missing..and it's gotta be more then the video call camera...why would the Tilt with more features then the 8525 cost less??? I'm very leery about this...btw wp..haven't seen u on HOFO in a while..
well after seeing another date come and go that it was suppost to go live on I just went ahead and ordered mine online. Better to have it then have to deal with the waiting and then if they end up screwing it hard well...

The low price can be justified because of iPhone's price slashes! AT&T is thinking of the whole market and not just of us hardcore users. Majority of the market will compare iPhone and Tilt side-by-side, and with iPhone's bigger screen, brand recognition, built-in memory, and popularity, people will go for the iPhone. So, if AT&T prices both reasonably, Tilt will sell well.

I think the front camera and the Tom-Tom Software will be removed and thats all. I think GPS will work but you have to use TeleNav, free google maps, live search or buy your own Tom-Tom. My guess as a geek with no insider info....

I created a cab file for the Blackjack to auto install overclocking and it works but he was the only one to have a problem. Two forums I posted the cab and he was the only one to need a HR. He *****ed that he lost all his contacts and they were so important. I flamed him cause he tried to blame me for his error and for him not backing up his device. What the **** is so important in contacts that 14 year old has. Anyway I flamed, got banned and told HOFO to **** off. I still read over there and can not stand the stupidity that runs rampant on that bored. Change the name on hofo to "here's your sign" (Redneck Comedy)

yea that 299 price point does not seem correct being the 8525 cost more. Also the 8925 is suppost to be a flagship type phone for them for highend users and lower end peps then have the Icrap, or the pantach 810 also the blackjack still and a handfull of other pda type phones.

Keep in mind that AT&T likely sees these devices as big recurring revenue streams - particularly text messaging, data usage, and their pay GPS service. These phones are likely to be sold to tech-savvy customers who use these features extensively. As a result they may even sell these devices at a loss.....

Has anyone had their hero replaced recently? I am getting mine replaced on Tuesday and want to know if anyone's came back with 2.1 or 1.5. I hope mine comes with 1.5 so I can enjoy root for two weeks before I upgrade to the EVO.

My phone was stolen last week & the replacement I got on Saturday already had 2.1 installed on it.
You guys should use your brains a little bit and complain to sprint. There is no reason why they should have upgraded you to 2.1 without consent. If you guys complain enough you might get lucky and end up with a replacement 1.5 os or a Evo if you complain enough. Really now there are millions of "People" if thats what you call them with OCD disorders who have thier phones in such a way if they have a SCRATCH on thier screens they will replace thier phones. What do you think they would do if sprint installed 2.1 on thier device when in thier minds 1.5 was the perfect os for them? Do the right thing and complain and get either a replacement or a new phone.
I've heard of people getting Evo's as replacements for their Hero. What are all you guys having wrong with your Hero? Or what are you saying to Sprint? Because the speaker on my phone is starting to break from the dust issue, and the screen is over 50% filled with dust.
I once got 3 months of free service because sprint updated my phone without my consent and the update wiped my sdcard with my data on it. This was a few years ago but complaining is a major deal to them and they advertise publicly that thier customers are happy with thier service... The worst that can happen to you is they will say no so do yourself a favor and complain.

I see your point, but if i sent a 1 topping pizza back to the store because it was cold and the store sent me back a hot supreme pizza i dont think i would be too happy.I wanted a 1 topping pizza i dont like supreme. Regardless of the store's policy the customer is always right. Its a universal language spanned across many venues. I have many issues with Sprint's Policy anyway like their upgrading policy the fact that i can go on craigslist and buy their phones cheaper than what they sell it retail is absurd. The simple fact that every carrier that i have been with has offered discounts for their customers regardless of how long the customer has been with the company.
This was designed to keep the customer in the network and not to venture on ebay and craigslist to buy phones. The fact that paying full price for any phone is retarded. Att and sprint are the only carriers that i know of that are douche bags when it comes to upgrading phones. T mobile doesn't even require money on hand to upgrade to a recent phone they bill it to you. Verizon lets you upgrade to any phone with a new 2 year re contract agreement and you get a discount. So with that said I feel that if your going to pay full price for any phone you have the god given damn right to ***** and rant about any device that is on their network. When it comes to networks like att and sprint you need to be aggressive because they sure as **** don't give a 2 ****s about you.
It arrived!
I just got my new phone back today! I was super lucky and it had 1.5 installed on it! When the sprint rep looked at it he asked me if I wanted him to update it. I just told him that I updated my old one and was unhappy with battery life so I want to keep 1.5 on it. I am currently working on rooting my phone now. So I guess ask them not to update the phone when they get it out.
I had to go through the assurian insurance route to replace mine, I called on Monday and the phone I got yesterday was still on 1.5. I had it mailed to my house, so the dudes in the store couldn't monkey with it. I DID have to manually program it, and then still had to get on chat to get the activation done right (was getting error code 67), but now everything is kosher. I was rooted and back on 2.1 within minutes of reactivating, lol! I'd forgotten how much 1.5 blows goats, lol!

Well said, my friend. I agree with you on that.
When I tried to do the legit sprint 2.1 update it fried my radio, so I called C/S, and they promptly mailed me a new Hero with 1.5. I think the stores are doing the updates on the phones, not Sprint itself. If you want to phone without the 2.1 already installed, just get it over the phone, or online, NOT at one of their stores.

Rooting is not a feature that is illegal or "wrong" to do, and it is NOT a feature that Google doesn't want us doing. They sell the Dev Phones for just that reason. You need to go through a process to root to make sure noobs that have never touched a command line flash a Nexus radio or something. Rooting is not a feature that is blocked by default because Google thinks we should stay stock, because Google WANTS us to root our phones. Now Sprint, that's a different story. They want us to keep all their bloatware and Sprint over-brandedness. They don't want us to root. Google wants power-users to root. That and open-source are the only reasons it's built on Linux.

Same here except mine wasnt stolen i bricked it.
Sprint called it a "Hardware Failure" and i called bull*hit under my breath.
So I hear that Tmobile keeps winning award after award for Customer Service. Yet in my (so far short) period of time(approx 1 year) i have YET to have a good customer service call.
The situation:
I had to finance my own cell phone bill so i decided to go on flexpay since I was only 18 at the time and was unsure if I would be able to continue payment while being a college student. So after many month I have decided that I would like to do somethings with my account that wont work with Flexpay, one of the majors being Google Voice as a VM service. So I call Tmobile up and ask if i can change to a regular postpayment, they either tell me that no i cant, due to not fulfilling the 6 month of good payment (i have had 9 months of flawless payment i assure you) OR i cant swap to a post payment and remain off contract on an EM+ plan. I have called at least 10 times in the past month and a half and have never been able to get anywhere, half the time i cant even understand what the other person on the line is saying, either they dont speak english clearly and talk way too f'ing fast, or they are so quiet i cant hear them.
Can someone please help me with this, is there a way to get someone who guarantees speaking english or actually knows what they are talking about. Im pretty sure I can go on post payment and remain off contract, but the Reps think otherwise. And whats with my 9 out of the 6 months not counting?! Whenever I ask why, they confirm that i have done 9 months of flawless payment, then respond that they dont know, when i ask if they can connect me with someone that does, i get rerouted back to Tmobiles main menu!!!
I dont know about you guys, i love tmobiles prices but their customer service is total crap. If this is award winning customer service, i shudder to think what the other carrier's customer service is like.
Please help, im really frustrated and about to say "**** it" and move to another carrier!

Tried searching the net for an answer and got nothing. I do know my mother had flexpay contract and moved to postpaid contract without issues at all. But no idea on the no contract transfers.
As for T-Mobile, I've had them since I turned 18, now, 5 years later, still with them. They even gave me "Loyalty" rates. It's like $10 cheaper for the unlimited minutes. Never had a problem, nor got a non english speaker. They've given me many several free replacements & deducted fees when I called in over the years.
I can't compare myself, but having worked at Radioshack some time ago, customers rated service in order of best to worst T-Mo >Sprint >Verizon >AT&T . Again, this is only what the customers who I spoke to would rate them as. Hope that helps.
i guess i should clarify, as i wrote the OP when i was kinda steaming.
All the Reps i have gotten are English speaking, but its the degree of difficulty of trying to understand them (for most english is not their first language) that i was talking about. Also, sadly being a college student, who cant drive and lives in another city from his hometown kinda makes it so i cant really go to a tmobile store. But just to make sure im not insane in the brain. (i know ive asked this before here but w/e) Just to confirm, i can transfer to a post payment plan and still remain off contract on a EM+? This is where the language barrier is becoming a problem, because (either i cant understand them or they cant understand me) they have told me many times, that I cannot do that, but im pretty damn sure you can, which is why i was so steamed earlier as i keep calling and they tell me i cant. Now, im not gonna sit there on a phone and argue with a Rep, i'd much rather spend my time ending the call and trying to get with another Rep, but ive gotten more of the "you cant do that" answer instead of the "yeah, sure you can" answer. And whenever I find someone who says I can do that, they put me on hold or they attempt to transfer me, and all the sudden I GET ROUTED TO THE TMOBILE MAIN MENU!!! This cycle is MADDENING!!!!
Just gave the tmobile forums a sweep. No one has asked your question of Flexpay to Even More Plus, so maybe you should post there. It seems to be your best bet for a clarified answer as to if it's possible, then after that if its yes, you'd need to request a supervisor next time if you can.
Flexpay to EvenMore is mentioned as possible, but I didn't see options for plus.
And as a side note, apparently Flexpay customer service is a separate branch... so what you've been experiencing is what many others describe exactly as you do, and it's not what postpaids experience. That sucks. But that explains the awards vs your experience. that blows..

I am new to the forum and just wanted to take a brief moment to share my experience regarding sim unlocking my HTC HD2 from TMobile USA.
I read throughout the forum that the unlock code can be obtained through TMo but seeing that I'm in Canada, that wasn't an option. After reading through the forums, i noticed one of the senior members had recommended HTCCODE.COM so I thought I would use their services.
After paying the fee and sending my phone's info, I did not receive any response for several hours and I thought it was bit odd considering they advertised "instant unlock", "unlocked in under a minute". So I followed up with a couple more emails to the administrator of the site but once again, no response. I figured I would turn to site's forum for some solution or help... unfortunately, it was littered with perverted posts, spam, and former disgruntled customers. Seeing that I had obviously gotten myself into a dead-end situation, I thought it best to file a dispute through Paypal. After doing so, surprise, surprise, I finally received a response from the admin saying he was just about to process my code but noticed I had filed a grievance... and he was in the midst of exams and that's why he couldn't moderate the forums So after some back and forth conversation he finally replied saying that the "most up-to-date" (advertised on homepage) database failed to come up with the code but if I (only) pay an additional $15 (total would be now be $35 USD) he can probably procure the unlock from the newest greatest most-most up-to-date omnipotent database! ... I called BS and demanded a refund!!!
Anyways, I'm not going to belabor my story as I'm sure you can figure out where this is going... long story short, after making a few additional requests for a refund, they finally credited my account today.
Finally, just to bring closure to the story, I went to ebay and used CELLSFORLESSNYC ($24.99), where I contacted the person before paying and he was good about replying quickly and answering my questions. In the end, he sent me a working code within about 30mins!
All in all, my recommendation is NOT to use HTCCODE.COM under any circumstance, if you want to be hassled, send ME the money instead and I can give you the run-around for a few days You're better off spending a couple extra bucks and use a faster, reliable service!
As an editorial, I think the whole sim-unlock system is a joke. Personally, I don't think there's an "old database" ~$10, "new database" ~$25, the rule of thumb through my experience (esp on ebay) is, if you have a new phone (up to a year old), expect to pay $20+ regardless of what the adverts say.

First I've sent 15 eur from their site (via Monyebookers), and then he asked for additional 11.55 eur as for "new exclusive database, bla bla", beside that on site is stated:

I've sent that difference via moneybookers to his e-mail address. Then I've received some unlock code that was bad. After few days he sent me some application that will 'digg' in phone to find code, because my "network are using different codes, bla bla". App not worked, I've tried it on 3 different computers so asked for refund. After days and days waiting and asking for refund, he finally refunded just 15 eur, and did not want to refund that additional 11.55 eur "as it was not sent from site"...
I'll try to make claim with Moneybookers.
My recommendation is NOT TO USE it as they are very unprofessional with this price rising!
Edit: finally today (13. feb) I've received full refund from them!

Same problem, totally and utterly unresponsive after getting the money. I opened a dispute on Paypal and even then the guy didn't respond. One hopes nothing serious has happened to him. In any case, Paypal refunded to me. I recommend GSMLiberty instead.

ive had the same problem with http://unlockcellphonecode.com, its been 10 days and ive sent numerous emails asking for a refund but they have not responded. Google checkout should be sending me a refund soon though so im not stressing about it.

Ha ha, this guys funny. At least when we get to see posts, we can identify idiots such as yourself.
Back on topic, I think there are quite a few warnings about this site scattered around XDA. I had him asking for more money after his claim of 'We unlock all HTC' and I asked for a refund immediately, which I had to go through PayPal to get.
PayPal should just close this guys account, it's basically a scam.

long time member, but i dont post much... i use the search button ALOT!
but i did have a question about an employment oppurtunity....
i have two sales rep positions i got offered and i dont know which one to go with, being with ATT and Verizon.
i try to do extensive research before i make a major decision b/c i'm just coming out of college and want to embed myself within a company and grow as high as possible...
my situation: just graduated college, and attending school in Dallas to work on my masters in Finance.
i've made a bit of a list, but still torn between the two.
ATT: part time (30 hours) at 12.75 plus commision... they said i get a phone, business cards, and tons of discounts. They offer tuition reimbursement, but i'm not sure how much... also, the company headquarters are located IN the city i'm going to school in. the store is full of OLDER people, so i know i could do well in sales being the new young guy...
plus, there's just a different vibe in that store when i go in... its in a VERY affluent part of town (frisco and plano)
i talked to a sales associate that was part time and he said he raked in $45K last year... so i think i would be able to live off that! i do not know the structure of the commision, though, so i dont know how possible that is.
Verizon: full time... havent discussed my hourly , perks, or extras (if yall have any info on that, please let me know). They offer tuition reimbursement as well, but its for MAX 8K...
looks like the store is full of younger guys, but still older than me. its in a nice part of town as well. (flowermound, lewisville area).
i'm very torn on which one to go with. can someone please provide some insight into being a retail associate for either or both of these companies. it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know about retail associate but i work for att as an outside plant maintenance splicer here in California and its a very good job! One of the best paying jobs in my area. And att was the second most profitable company in the USA last year behind Exxon oil. Unfortunately right now we are working without a contract as we are CWA union but so is Verizon. But i think att mobility has a different contract. Anyways just thought id give you my experience!

Based on money, I would probably choose ATT because you said the store is full of older people and you said you get commission. A lot of times older people are easier to convince then your younger crowd, and older people are more willing to listen to a representative.
Based on happiness, I would also choose ATT because it seems like ATT is more interested in offering you the job since they have already discussed money, perks, etc, and they will be more interested in you. (That's a good thing)
Also, the Frisco/Plano area is a better place to live as it has better malls, nicer houses, better restaurants, etc.

@Ali: that's what I've been thinking... the area is pretty nice and I think the money would flow. Being full time at Verizon would be pretty sweet. I'm not sure if I would make paper like that though.
Have you ever visited the Dallas area? Plano/Frisco is that much nicer than flowermound?
@eroracing: that's great. The thing I'm looking for most is a place to grow... I think I'm talented enough, plus I'll have the educational aspect, to make moves up the ladder.
You'll definitely get a better selection of phones from AT&T. As to work atmosphere, I feel like AT&T stores are a lot lower pressure when I go in than VZ, but VZ tends to have more customers the majority of the time. With all the switchups going on with service right now I have no idea what the future will look like, though.
to be honest, its not just about the phones...
however, the appeal of even a GSM phone would be very enticing...

Verizon VS AT&T
It's been a while... Who did you actually choose? I have two opportunities for part-time with Verizon and full-time with AT&T. Just got done with my third interview for each one of them. I like AT&T better.. just the atmosphere of the stores for being a sales rep. I went to both during busy hrs and Verizon was kind of... idk careless with their customers. However, Verizon does have much better benefits but theyre not a union. I know AT&T is still amazing pay, but verizon is by far better. But i don't get the happy vibe from them as I do from AT&T... and I am looking for a long time position while I continue my education, At this point I think its either for the money/benefits or for the happy job. Also AT&T doesnt give you full benefits until after 6 months of employment, Verizon starts you from day 1. My boyfriend says I can always work my way up and if I don't like the customer service they provide at the store I can try and change that.
So i guess I answered my question. But also the co-manager that interviewed me for AT&T, he's been in the company for 2 months and just switched from Verizon after being manager for them for over 4 years. & so is their #1 Northern California sales rep. He said something within the lines of not getting enough recognition. If I get the offers I want to make sure I make the right choice. Can you please let me know which one you ended up picking, that'd be very very helpful ... thank you
