Hi guys,
Is it also possible to unlock the sim only from the miniSD memorycard.
Because Ive lost my usb-cable and I have to wait 14 days to get a new one
Get a bluetooth dongle, sync up via BT to activesync, use the WST, and voila. For more info read the linky in my siggy...page 4ish

Hi,
Had my HTC P3600 (bought sim free in UK) since Jan. Updated the ROM to Dopod GPS ship ROM few weeks ago. All going fine, then for past week phone stopped activesyncing via USB. Still Charges fine via AC adapter and when connected to PC via USB but:
-not recognised by async (have tried every version I can find)
-not detected as a device in windows exlorer, nor device manager
-tried two different PCs - no luck
-my friends TyTn synced fine on my PC tonight
-have changed start/settings/connections/usb to pc - no luck
-have hard reset few times - no luck
-have reinstalled previous HTC ship ROM (had to use SD card flash) - still no sync
Any ideas anyone?
I think maybe my USB connector has lost its data connections yet still allows charging. Is that likely, I take great care with my phone & never had that problem in over 2 years of using my SPV M500?
Is my only option to send it back to Rankhour.com??
Cheers
Any ideas anyone. Has anyone used HTC europe returns based in UK.

I had the same problem. I used SPB backup to backup appointments and other data but excluded system files. I then hard reset my device, executed the spb backup file (which is an exe from sd card) and all is OK.
Note I also was not hearing any reminders, the pda would switch on but no sound.
Best of luck.
From your observations I highly suspect a defective cable...
Try to find another cable..
Please note that USB charging may be possible by a defective cable as only 2 pins are needed, while all pins must be in a perfect shape to communicate with device.
Good luck.
Here's my problem. I have an 8125 and need to unlock it to use with T-Mobile. Here's the problem - the phone cannot connect via usb, it charges and everything else seems fine but no data connect.
Is there any way I can unlock this phone? Is calling Cingular my last resort?
Thanks for any help.
calling cingular is the last and safest choice so go for it
but their is sites that you go and pay $$$ and they give you the pin to unlock but i have never used them because i just go to my local phone store to unlock phones
Try changing usb ports on the back (or front) of your computer with the sync cable and see if that doesn't correct your problem with no data connect. I am assuming that you are runnung activesync on your computer if you're using xp or whatever vistas version is called if you're using vista.
Cingular should still sim unlock your phone for free though if you call them.
use usb killer to change usb setting and you can use activesync again
use usbkiller to change usb setting and you can use activesync again
file attached
after that you can find tools on forum to unlock your device
I just installed BBC on my TyTN II and I called my service provider (t-mobile) to add the service, and they asked me for a pin #, I told them it was pending and they said I must have a pin #...
What do I have to do to get the pin #? it just keeps saying pending on my phone.
No one else is having pin pending problem?
Not sure if you tried a search, but many others have gotten BBC to work successfulyl with a TyTN II. The instructions on how they did it and what they followed are int those threads.
I tried searching and I couldn't find it, can you direct me to the link? Thanks
I think the problem is that I haven't connected it to my computer.. is it necessary to connect the device onto the computer? because I think my USB port on my phone is damaged and I am unable to connect it...
Is there any other way I can connect it to my computer without using USB?
Haven't lookd for all the threads. But you should be able to roughly follow the instructions listed here:
http://www.america.htc.com/connect/8925/
Even though you are using TMo vs. AT&T, it shouldn't matter. You get the PIN by using the BlackBerry Connect Desktop for Windows Mobile software on your desktop PC while you have your phone connected to the PC and your PC able to log into the mail service you want BB service for. (So yes you do need to have a working USB connection).

Hello there,
I've been searching around the internet now for about 3 hours to no avail, I have even resorted to emailing HTC for help. Thats how desperate I am.
I have a MDA Vario III (HTC TYTN 2) that has worked flawlessly for a long time (since christmas) but has suddenly stopped communicating with Activesync.
Im not bothered about syncing contacts etc, all i want to do is use the file browser to download and upload photos etc.
I have tried all the suggestions i have found so far (enabling adanced network functionality, disabling it, reinstalling Activesync etc.) to no working answer.
Can anyone help me?
raty
Not sure if you tried this or not. Delete your existing partnership and then reconnect it. Good luck. Activesync sux.
Hey,
I've deleted the partnerships off my vario3, and completly reinstalled activesync. Still didnt work.
Ive taken the phone into the T-mobile shop i bought it from, they seem a little too keen to send it off for repairs, maybe this is turning into more of a regular thing that i thought?
Kept onto the phone just for now, I wnt to try and fix it before i send it off.
Uh... why send it off if you fix it?
read through this thread and look at post #10 and see if your computer is detecting the device at all..
also try removing your simcard and microSD card and connect your device to your pc in bootloader mode and see if it says USB on the bottom.

It's probably the Notification queues have lost their active sync bits
use Pocket IE or Opera (mobile) to download and install something like MemMaid or SKTools
you can then add the Active Sync components back into the notification queues, and then rebuild them
Once done you should be able to sync etc
notification queues! What is that?
First I ever heard of that. I am having active sync issues as well and I have tried everything in this post.
Nothing works, it connected a few nights ago and it all of a sudden stayed connected all night. I am Back to having problems again.
Does anyone know if avast will hurt active sync?
here is your answer...

read thorugh EVERY LINK and you should be good
ive read through those links and none of them have a fix for me.
The computer recognises my phone, in device manager it comes up under Windows CE USB Devices as HTC USB Sync.
i shall try the bootloader idea and report back.
@Kimtyson- if i fix it i wont be sending it off, that would be obsurd
@pjwilkin- i have never come across that before while reading about the titan, fancy sharing some knowledge?
Just got my phone into bootloader (thanks wiki) and when the usb cable is connected it says USB and the computer starts to install drivers etc.
***bump***
sorry thats not proper foru etiquet but im desperate for som answers
Some further things to try
Can you connect via Activesync using Bluetooth? What about on other PCs and on other USB ports on your PC? What happens if you delete that HTC USB Sync listing in device manager, unplug the phone, reboot the PC and then reinstall Activesync 4.5 (I use the CDROM the phone came with the phone for that)? See if you can get the phone shop to plug it into one of their PCs with Activesync or WMDC.If it's showing up in your PCs device manager then it's likely some sort of problem/configuration issue with your desktop PC it's connecting to - not a problem with the phone itself.
this has happened to me ..
i vote for changing usb ports..
you probly already did so..
please post when you fix it..

Hello,
I bought a new phone and doesn't want to sell my Xperia X1 (who will buy this anyway!?).
How can I use it as a WiFi Media center or mini Computer or Print server WITHOUT a SIM card?
I thought about using it as a media center with a USB hub where i can connetct:
printer
harddisk
usb stick
using Android maybe!?
and having access to it thorught my Laptop -> Wifi Router -> Xperia
Is this Possible? Will it overheat if I use it 2 -3 hours not every day?
thx and looking forward for your answers.
I don't have a direct answer to your question on how to use your phone without a SIM card .. but there is an alternative trick that will only cost less than 2 dollars.
You can find dummy SIM cards on internet shops, like dealextreme.com. It's worth a shot if you don't have another solution.
Well..i believe that X1 works without SIM card...You will not have access to the Mobile Network..thats all....
