GPRS/3G Keeps Connecting Automatically - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

My GPRS 3G internet connection keeps connecting automatically every few minutes or hours - seems to be ranom. I am running the HTC rom on an Still on an unlocked TILT. I am still on the old ATT Blue Mmode network - can't beat the pricing on the unlimited plan. Is there anyway to turn off the automatic connection. I've done a search and cannot find any threads on this topic.
Thanks

You can set KaiserTweak to turn off your data connection after a period of time. KaiserTweak is stickied on these forums.

Thanks for the quick reply

GPRS Connection Issues - Keeping GPRS connections active

I'm trying to keep my GPRS connection alive - all day
I'm using a mobile solution which relies on traffic being sent automatically via GPRS to a Qtek 2020i (service calls for field engineers)
The problem is that the GPRS appears to time out (or at least go to sleep) after a period of inactivity.
I need to keep the connection alive as having to manually reactivate it (or wake it up) defeats the object of my engineers receiving calls via GPRS.
The "G" symbol appears on a white background and has to be tapped to wake it up ("G" with left and right arrows).
Only then will the queued data be sent to the unit.
The timeout period appears to be around a couple of minutes.
I've checked the power settings - there is nothing which relates to GPRS timeout.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Would be worthwhile checking with your operator as I believe that the timeout is setup on the network not the device.
My understanding of the general issue is that the network times out the GPRS connection and the device or OS (WM2003 etc) does not properly handle reinitialising the connection or detecting that it has timed out.
Is the data really being sent to the device. We have used O2 and Orange and the IP allocated is not available from the internet unless you go with something like a VPN solution.
You could look at changing the app to request the info or at least ping a server every few minutes to keep the connection alive.
GB-Soft Tweak
There is a program called GB-Soft Tweak, which could help with the issue. I'm using it even on the MDA_PRO (as I did with the MDA2) and it's working flawlessly.
It has an option "to keep the GPRS connection always 'on'". I believe you can at least try it. It installs in "Settings" and once set, you don't need to touch anything.
It's just 13KB and I'll attach it to this message.

I will give it a try and thanks a lot man.

gprs using data when trying to connect...

i was in an area with no gprs today and my kaiser was constantly trying to connect, this went on unnoticed and when i looked at my gprs tracker is racked up 38mb in one hour, thank god i have a 1gb data plan. what's going on here why does it use data to connect? and is there any way to stop it from trying to repeadily connect like that? when i try to turn off the gprs connection with comm manager or gprs manager, windows will automatically try to reconnect over and over and over again.
Any chance you have ActiveSync running in the background when you check? I'm abroad at the moment and have the same problem, this is my no.1 culprit at the moment.
nope i have nothing running in the background. i don't understand how it's using data when it's not connected. i can't figure this out, i don;t even know where to begin.
sorry double post
I have the same issue! I have no data plan and my GPRS was connected for some 39 minutes the other day!!!
Anyone any ideas? Not sure if it's the MMS messaging that is causing it...?!?
figured it out, i just left the password section blank in the connection setting that was it always promts me to enter the password everytime the phone tries to reconnect

New tilt, question about turning off data

I know this has been asked a million times, I just bought a used tilt from a co-worker. I do not have any data plans, and just want to use wi-fi.
I installed modaco nodata, and kaiser tweak.
In Nodata I have:
at&t isp gprs - disabled
media net - disabled
my connection - enabled
kaiser tweak:
I also have pretty much all the data options disabled.
Now I am still a little paranoid, because when I wake up my phone the 3G logo shows for a few seconds. Is this just a little bug or is 3G on? I just want to be absolutely sure I am not going to get any data charges.
Thanks!
if your talking about the AT&T 3g video at startup, then that comes standard on the phone as a bootscreen. Also when I installed NoData to my phone a while back the 3G logo was still there but I tested it and I couldnt connected to the internet. However, be warned with the Medianet disabled you won't be able to receive picture messages.
No not the animation, just the little 3G icon in the top right where it shows your connection.

I have been using Modaco Nodata for over a year and it never let me down. I don't see why you should have to worry.
Thanks for the reassurance, now does your 3G Icon still show. I noticed it was on the whole time I was in my car with no wifi around.

the reason you see the 3g sign is because that means 3g is available, it does NOT mean you are connected to the net. If the location supports hsdpa than you will see H.
question answered, plus redundant thread. Thread closed.

[Internet]- Block net but still send/receive mms?

I’m very sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I just got the Att Fuze 2days ago and my phone randomly connects to the internet and stays connected. I don’t pay the extra 30$ for internet, I have unlimited text and mms. The only reason I keep it on pay-per-use is because I need it for my MMS. Last night it just kept connecting and when I turned it off it connected back again. So I had to turn my phone off.
Is there a way to block the internet but still be able to send and receive mms? I downloaded Diamond Tweak but not sure if that’s going to help.
Try Diamond Tweaks or Advance Config. 3.3 and report back as this APP's provide easy access and simple tweaks to the Registry.
or install nodata cab
then turn on and off when you want....
i use this when overseas.....saved me £££££££
here you go

good luck
i have Diamond Tweaks but it completely turns off all data
vodafone Germany got a feature called websession:
you dial in and before you can access any service you wil be redirected to a webside.
Before you bought a packet on this you wont geht any data throug
the clue: nothing goes out but MMS. (which goes out and in(including automaticaly connecting to api))
So if you got a similar feature: you just may deactivate all other APIs and use this.

Keeping Bluetooth PAN connection alive

Hi All,
I've just been setting up a Bluetooth DUN connection for T-Mo US on my Kaiser (orig AT&T Tilt) and I'm pleased to say that the connection is fairly good. The one problem I have is the connection keeps dropping to a disconected state every 5-10 minutes or so.
So my question is, is there anything in the settings or a reg edit that can help keep the session alive?
As always, thanks in advance for the help.
Bluetooth Time Out Setting
Go on Setting>Connection Tab>Select Bluetooth>Time Out Tab
Select>Never
