Predefined SIP - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi everyone,
I want to set MessageEase as predefined SIP, so when I soft reset my device I can find it.
Can someone of you, please, show me some link or howtos so I can set up it?
Thanks,
ghale.

Do a search for SIPChange

I've already tried this,
but when I soft reset my pda, the new SIP cover the number buttons I have to press to insert my PIN!
There is a way to start it AFTER inserting the PIN?
Thanks for your reply!

you can try setting the delay time in SIPchange to start later rather then too soon

Good idea.
I've set 50, and I'm trying this now!
Thanks!

Modifying the Registry Does not stay

I am trying to modify the registry (do not wnat the SIM contacts to show). Well strangely anought if I modify it I see the effect right away even without restarting. But once I restart (Power Down & Power up, or soft reset) the reg change reverts to the original setting. I know this was a problem on some smartphones you needed to modify some kind of registry setting to get it stick, but that also meant that your Device ID (for TOMTOM e.g.) would change as well... Anyone ??
Sure that you did power-down and -up?
What you describe sounds like a soft-reset; the changes won't stick.
Do your change, save it , power down by hold in the on/off button. That will stick.
1- Change the reg key
2- Close ALL open programs
3- Power down (normally; NOT holding button for long time)
4- Wait at least one minute!!!
5- Power up, and reset after at least 20 sec pause...
Changes should stick then...
I'm not sure why it is, but changing the registry not to show sim contacts sets itself back to its original setting after a reset. I've changed other registry settings and they all stuck. If you notice, in the contacts-->menu-->options you have the option to show contacts only which hides the sim contacts but as soon as you reset your phone they come back there too. Apparently HTC thinks it's important to always see your sim contacts and not have the option to hide them or something.

Moaske!
Thanx but it still does not stick. Funny is though that when I do change the reg key the effect is immediate, on my old Vario II I needed to reset before the change was active, and on the TyTn II the change is effective right away, because after changing I looked in my contacts and al the SIM contacts are gone. But after a reset (following your instruction) the reg key is back to 1.
OK I just changed another reg key (the one that controls the dialer skin) and that one sticks... I think xeno1 is right HTC seem to think that We always want to see our SIM contacts!?
Anyone with a solution ??
I've got an idea, but not quite sure how to impliment it, but it should be pretty easy. If you've noticed, you don't have to do a soft reset after you do a registry settings change, the effects are immediate. Anyone know how to put a file in the startup folder that will just do the registry settings change on boot up?

Ehm...maybe this may be to easily thought up, but exporting a reg key from your reg editor, and placing that file in the startup folder, would that work?

I tried that and as soon as my phone reboots the registry editor opens as if it's importing that key and then shuts back down again but when I open up the reg editor again it's back to 1. I've also tried just going to the reg file in file explorer and clicking on it and still it won't let it change that one key. This is starting to make me really wonder why that key is so important that they need to lock it like that.
Im glad im not the only one with this problem.. guess ill wait for a fix.
waiting for a fix as well...
I have a fix, thanks to NuShrike over at MoDaCo.

Remap Soft Keys on the Kaiser

Hi folks,
Is there a way to remap the soft keys on the Kaiser?
I am sure there is; I would appreciate it if someone explained to me how.
I had to uninstall Pocket Informant and I can't access the original Calendar app on the left soft key!!!
Many thanks,
MAC

SoftKey Changer
There you go.. Install, soft reset, and its under Start -> Settings -> System
I gave it a try but my expectations were that would be what that soft key would be no matter what program I'm in, but that is not the case. I guess I'll use somethign else like AE Button to get teh keys I want.
Thanks for the post though.
[EDIT]
By the way, after uninstalling, the button assignments remain. Interesting.
Yep use AE Button. It's an amazing tool! Although be careful what you change as it can mess up your device used carelessly.

Thanks very much. I will give this a try.
In the meantime I had to restore a previous version from SPB Backup and this got sorted. I have decided not to re-install Pocket Informant 8 as it caused some isues with ringtones and performance.
I put this on my HTC Tilt and it works awesome, exactly what i was looking for to change the two soft keys.
Hi there, hope everyone is well.
I installed the softkey changer cab , and it seemed to install fine. I was able to find it under settings with no problem and set the left softket to 'new sms'. However when I try to actualy use this from the homescreen i get an error message saying:
"The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components could not be found. If the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring this file."
I have tried reinstalling, but got the same problem. I can still send an sms if I go through contacts, or messaging, but would love to have this as a working softkey as it tends to be the function I use the most.
Other than installing google maps and opera mini, there have been no changes made since I received the phone a few days ago. It is a standard HTC tytn II.
I'm completely new to this, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, James.

This helped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357163
Essentially, change the value of the key to /Windows/(your SMS program)
Mine was tmail.exe.
Now I wonder... how do I not go to the messages screen and go directly to a new SMS?
I'm having the same problem on a Tilt.

Thanks for the advice, I will probably give that a go when I've stopped being so scared of changing registry stuff.
I did find another app that does the trick though. Just make sure you add a shortcut to 'new sms' first (bottom option of the config screen), you should then be able to assign this to either softkey.
Works for me, and I'm able to go straight to a new sms from the homescreen.
Hope it helps, all the best.

No you need to hard reset.
https://www.wireless.att.com/suppor...alsCategory=Getting+Started&tutorialId=613850
ok
ok so this will get rid of all the software and cabs exe and read me file and anything else ive put on the phone. after doing this will i be able to sync with outlook for my contacts back. one other thing. i have re mapped my ptt will this be affected due to the program i downloaded to make this happen. file named oem assign ptt button
It will erase everything you have done. The phone will be exactly as it was when you first booted it up. Clean slate.
Oh and yea, you can use activsync to get your contacts back, but I save mine to the sim card as well, just in case.
what about the ptt remapping with some reg edit and program oem assign ptt button

all registry changes and program installations will be undone. Think of a hard reset as you would think of reinstalling windows on your PC, all settings, programs, etc... are lost. Hope I helped. lataz.
Hard reset will get rid of everything, the boot following the hard reset will be at factory settings - just like if you bought it today.
When the screen says customization starting in 3 seconds, after the hard reset, insert stylus and do a soft reset. That will rid your phone of all the extra AT$T bloatware.

Diamond 2 Configuration questions

Hey there, kinda new and this is my first windows mobile phone so I am kinda new on this and this is also my first HTC. Got a few questions, hopefully anyone can spare some thoughts or solution on my questions.
1. From Settings > Communications > Phone; under the header [PIN/PIN2]. What is the PIN CODE? I looked into the manual and couldnt find it. So I only have 1 attempt left....
I tried Settings > All Settings > Personal Tab> Lock; and setup my own password for this already but doesnt seem to correspond with the PIN above.
Are the both the same thing or different functions?
2. Settings > All Settings > Personal Tab> Buttons; Seems the only option is Button 1 in the box and no other options? I am trying to figure out how to add or use another button like the holding the call button to silence/vibrate the phone.
Hope anyone can shed a light on this. Device is still new and there might more silly questions I have. gawd.
Cheers!
The PIN CODE is the password you need to type in when you startup yout phone(actually its the password to read your simcard)..
When you bought your SIM card you got a PIN, PIN2, PUK and PUK2 code..
lg nikolaus
thx for the info, but I guess i try once I get a new sim.
I rmb ppl mention there is the Magic 8 Ball on diamond 2 but I dont see it. Any clarification on this?
Answer to question 2: you can configure a lot more button actions, but you will need software like AE button plus for that.

How to make the dialer doesn't appear after a call

Hi,
I don't think my question is specific to a rom or a dialer.
I don't want the dialer appears after a call.
I would like to reach the home screen directly without the 5 seconds dialer transition.
Is it possible with a registry tweak or something else please ?
Thanks for all.
This is not a problem for nobody this dialer after a call ?
To be always forced to click on the cross or a hard button to reach the home screen ?
Please tell me a solution if you know it.
I would also like to know if a tweak like this exists...
I'll try to find a way but anyone knowing this is welcome....
Try this registry setting you must create:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CallProgressIdleTimeout"=dword:00000000
Just push the Home button after the end button is pressed, you wont wait 5 seconds.

Unfortunally this tweak doesn't work, even after a soft reset.
Did it work for you and with which device and rom ?

My device is diamond and I use nataly 2.7, it works...
Another way:You can install advanced config and you can find in phone tab..
I have to revive this thread cause I am really interested in a tweak like this...
I've tried everything in Advanced Configuration and in Diamond Tweak but there is no tweak for this...
Does anyone know a tweak?
I think it's impossible.
I tried all the tweaks.
