No you need to hard reset.
https://www.wireless.att.com/suppor...alsCategory=Getting+Started&tutorialId=613850

ok
ok so this will get rid of all the software and cabs exe and read me file and anything else ive put on the phone. after doing this will i be able to sync with outlook for my contacts back. one other thing. i have re mapped my ptt will this be affected due to the program i downloaded to make this happen. file named oem assign ptt button

It will erase everything you have done. The phone will be exactly as it was when you first booted it up. Clean slate.
Oh and yea, you can use activsync to get your contacts back, but I save mine to the sim card as well, just in case.

what about the ptt remapping with some reg edit and program oem assign ptt button

all registry changes and program installations will be undone. Think of a hard reset as you would think of reinstalling windows on your PC, all settings, programs, etc... are lost. Hope I helped. lataz.

Hard reset will get rid of everything, the boot following the hard reset will be at factory settings - just like if you bought it today.

When the screen says customization starting in 3 seconds, after the hard reset, insert stylus and do a soft reset. That will rid your phone of all the extra AT$T bloatware.

Dear xplode,
I tried more than 10 times still can't memory registry changed. Do you know is any program installed will cause this problem.
Thanks a lot.
You have very strange issue, i do my registry editings with Resco mostly
have you thought about that some software may change the registry entryes or keys on bootup to the way they like, and even if you change them on reboot the entryes are lost
try to change reg's to a clean rom, it is software issue but i am not sure which software makes this

Just curious, which registry keys?
There's also a possibility that programs "auto-loading" during startup might be causing the problem.
I've been using the freeware reg editors from PHM & .Fred's Task Manager & both works in "all" of the AKU 3.5 ROMS here.
You may try to install the test cab attached which changes the label of your left & right softkeys to Test1 & Test2 respectively. Changes are effective immediately, soft reset & see if it gets retained.

Modifying the Registry Does not stay

I am trying to modify the registry (do not wnat the SIM contacts to show). Well strangely anought if I modify it I see the effect right away even without restarting. But once I restart (Power Down & Power up, or soft reset) the reg change reverts to the original setting. I know this was a problem on some smartphones you needed to modify some kind of registry setting to get it stick, but that also meant that your Device ID (for TOMTOM e.g.) would change as well... Anyone ??
Sure that you did power-down and -up?
What you describe sounds like a soft-reset; the changes won't stick.
Do your change, save it , power down by hold in the on/off button. That will stick.
1- Change the reg key
2- Close ALL open programs
3- Power down (normally; NOT holding button for long time)
4- Wait at least one minute!!!
5- Power up, and reset after at least 20 sec pause...
Changes should stick then...
I'm not sure why it is, but changing the registry not to show sim contacts sets itself back to its original setting after a reset. I've changed other registry settings and they all stuck. If you notice, in the contacts-->menu-->options you have the option to show contacts only which hides the sim contacts but as soon as you reset your phone they come back there too. Apparently HTC thinks it's important to always see your sim contacts and not have the option to hide them or something.

Moaske!
Thanx but it still does not stick. Funny is though that when I do change the reg key the effect is immediate, on my old Vario II I needed to reset before the change was active, and on the TyTn II the change is effective right away, because after changing I looked in my contacts and al the SIM contacts are gone. But after a reset (following your instruction) the reg key is back to 1.
OK I just changed another reg key (the one that controls the dialer skin) and that one sticks... I think xeno1 is right HTC seem to think that We always want to see our SIM contacts!?
Anyone with a solution ??
I've got an idea, but not quite sure how to impliment it, but it should be pretty easy. If you've noticed, you don't have to do a soft reset after you do a registry settings change, the effects are immediate. Anyone know how to put a file in the startup folder that will just do the registry settings change on boot up?

Ehm...maybe this may be to easily thought up, but exporting a reg key from your reg editor, and placing that file in the startup folder, would that work?

I tried that and as soon as my phone reboots the registry editor opens as if it's importing that key and then shuts back down again but when I open up the reg editor again it's back to 1. I've also tried just going to the reg file in file explorer and clicking on it and still it won't let it change that one key. This is starting to make me really wonder why that key is so important that they need to lock it like that.
Im glad im not the only one with this problem.. guess ill wait for a fix.
waiting for a fix as well...
I have a fix, thanks to NuShrike over at MoDaCo.

I don't think so...try to softreset (or power down) ...the SIM contact will be visible again.
I think that there is a startup program that recovers some registry keys.
Something similar happens also with deveicelock. If you use the device lock, the backlight timing is always set to 10seconds. If you change it, it works with the new timing until the next devicelock. (then it will be resetted to 10 seconds)

I've try several times with Sktools but after the softreset the sim contacts is visible...maybe something in my italian rom (1.35)? i really don't know.
yeah maybe. You could try to upgrade to 1.37.707.1
NikiSimFix
Had the same problem...
NikiSimFix.cab (program runs on startup) fixed this for me (probably imports a reg key on startup).
Cheers.
NikiSimFix
Tnx a Lot it works!!!
Excellent! It needs just a soft reset after installing
There is also a simpler way, which does not however survive a reset either (but it can be set through the standard menus instead of the registry, and it has the advantage of being easily toggled).
If - like me - you are synching your contacts from Outlook and do not want to see the SIM contacts, the easiest is to assign a category in Outlook to all your contacts, and then simply filter the All People view by that category. All your contacts are still there, and the SIM contacts disappear...
Doesn`t work for me. tried installing it to Device and Internal Storage performed a soft reset after both but sim contacts are still displayed. I think the only way to get this working is to delete all contacts from the sim then they definitely won`t show up.
**Edit** It seems to have worked after a second soft reset, brilliant

I've tried several tools and it keeps on coming back with me as well. Why oh why are such basic things so very badly implemented?
I'm using an O2 XDA Orbit 2 which I believe is basically a rebadged HYC Touch Cruise.

Same issue here! How have you fixed?

Touchflo 3D Doesnt Start

well hi, im new here, i got an xda diamond touch, and my problem is that touchflow 3d doesnt start, i get always the windows mobile GUI, how can i start touchflo 3d ?
Sorry to ask the obvious, but you have enabled TF3D, haven´t you?
Start>Settings>Today>Plug-Ins>check TF3D is ticked (rough translation from German ROM).....
thanks for the quick respond, well when i enter today settings there is no touchflow 3d in the plugins only the windows stuff
Now that´s strange.....what ROM are you using? Standard HTC or some provider branded ROM? Thsoe ROMs usually contain the TF3D files - they are installed when you first boot up the device. It´s possible to supress that installation by doing a soft reset quickly after the initial display calibration screen....maybe that´s what happened?
If you haven´t done too much tweaking/installing you might try the old hard reset (you´ll loose all your settings/programs etc., that you have already installed). If you don´t want to do that, maybe someone else has got a better idea how to revive your TF3D.....
ok i have done a softreset yet, but didnt helped, now will try with a hardreset hmmm

Have you had a look at the manual yet???
Soft reset: either press the red button in the stylus hole with the stylus, or long press the power key to shut down the device and then restart it - same effect.
Hard reset (reset back to how it was when you received the device): Push and hold "Volume Down" Key + "Enter" Key, push the reset button in the stylus hole while keeping the above buttons pressed, release the reset button and answer the onscreen questions.
When the device boots up after the hard reset you should be taken to the display calibration screen. After that the device will show you a quick countdown before installing additional apps (TF3D, phone skin, Opera, etc., depending on the ROM you are using). When installation is finished (do NOT interrupt it!), the Diamond will automatically soft reset. After that you really should have your TF3D installed and working.....
ok thanks but what should i do, restore manufacturer default or restore manufacturer default and format movinand?

The "format" option also formats your internal storage (your device´s hard disk, so to speak), so it´s really up to you......by formatting the internal storage you will of course loose all your files on that media (movies, pictures, whatever you´ve already put there) and have to copy it over again.....
wow seems its working, thank u so much michi really THANK U
You are welcome! Glad, I could help!

"PTT Window failed" message on boot

I did the PTT registry edit fix (created two new keys, deleted the PTT key), and did a soft reset. Upon restarting, I got a series of windows saying "PTTwindow failed". I can deal with this, since I don't restart my phone every day, but is there any way I can get rid of the windows anyway?
Also, is there any way to quit a program other than pressing the "X" at the top right of the screen? Like, maybe assigning it to a button? It's all the way in the corner and sometimes my big fingers have trouble hitting it correctly.
Try going to \Windows\Startup and seeing if there is any PTT related shortcut, and if there is, delete it. On my old AT&T ROM, PTT used to load on startup, so I disabled it that way.
And yes, if you go to button settings, and select the button, at/near the top of the list of commands, select "OK/Close".
Dave
There was a PTT related shortcut and I removed it. Soft resetted and still get the messages: "PTT FindWindowFailed" and "PTT Unregister Class Failed".
And the OK/Close button just minimizes my programs, doesn't end them. If I leave them running won't it drain my battery faster? I am using Spb mobile shell, if it makes any difference.
What happens if you rename or backup then delete the PTT program? I think it's in the \Windows folder. If you delete anything, I would highly recommend backing up every file you delete.
And I would guess that although background programs would drain battery a little more, mobile shell probably drains just as much.
Hope that helps,
Dave
Thanks Dave - I found that there was a PTTFix program on my Tilt (I don't remember installing it - as I said I did the manual registry edit), and when I deleted the PTTFix program the boot popups stopped. I appreciate your help!
Sure, glad it all worked out.
Dave
