I am NOT one of the iPhone people, however, I did see a commercial for the iPhone and the key feature was actually viewing a list of your voicemail messages so that you can decide which message to listen to and which one to skip over, and not waste your time on. Has anyone got their hands on this and been able to make it Wizard compatible? Of all the "features" on the iPhone, this one is the only one I'd truly want or even use.
Please if you have heard anything about this application, and whether anyone can HTC-ify it, please post and let me know...or if there is an individual 3rd party app out there the is very similar, I'd sure appreciate a linky.
Thanks.
as far as i know this feature depends on the provider. it's a special service that AT&T offers for the iphone.
T-Mobile (germany) had to implement it in their infrastructure to have the iphone show the messages in the mailbox.
so, it's not only a tool and i guess it won't work with providers, that don't have the rights to sell iPhones.

I hear you on that one... I really liked that feature when I saw it on TV and was wondering the same thing myself but I doubted it as soon as I thought of it and now it is proving to impossible... Sadly...
GotVoice.com also has this service. You link to your v-mails via their site. Sorry, no stand-alone app, plus I think you have to pay for the service and/or to have an account.

I read on this other forum http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/htc-p4450-kaiser/89014-htc-p4450-release-rumor-thread-4.html in this thread they say that it will be released in like November. They say that the person mention this did not say who his source was it still worried me cuz that is the month the 8525 was released. Additionally they mention the 8925 will not have the front facing camera nor will it have built in GPS!!!
I personally will probably boycott AT&T if this is true or at least petition this BS. I mean seriously I love my 8525 but I am getting sick and tired of at&t stripping features out of the damn devices. I am wondering if any of these claims have any value or are they just more incoherent gibberish from the internet.
Any thoughts?
I would entirely believe they could strip out those features. The front facing camera is useless in the usa as we have no infrastructure to use it. The GPS now, that's the sticky subject. Yes, they could release it and have one of the first devices ever in the usa to support built in standalone gps... But they have a service they sell at $10 or $15 a month to do the same thing. Releasing this phone would take away "revenue" as far as their bean counters will be concerned. It doesn't matter how many of those people would or would not pay for it, it's just a matter of potential revenue to them.
What will happen? That's still up in the air, but rest easy knowing it's still easy enough to get a import if need be!
No GPS?
I don't care if they leave out the front camera. But if AT&T is dumb enough to disable the GPS, I'm buying an unlocked Kaiser, period. I hate it when companies cripple perfectly good technology. It's not even like they would be getting revenue from GPS if they crippled it - they'd just be preventing us from using free GPS.....

In regard to the lack of support for the front facing camera I thought they were planning on do the whole video share thing? I even found the option for video share on the wm6 beta I put on my girlfriends blackjack. In regard to the bean counters and potential loss of revenue? As far as I know the gps module does not determine who one will use for navigation. I currently have a gps chip through at&t however the same one is available elsewhere. Furthermore, telenav is offered to other carriers as well. The only way I can see this taking money away from them is it came with not only the chip but the software (maps) as well. If it does not come with maps I will still most likely stay with telenav through at&t.
What will happen? That's still up in the air, but rest easy knowing it's still easy enough to get a import if need be!
Yeah, heres the other thing. I am aware I can get the kaiser and use my at&t sim but I doubt I could find the kaiser for $100 or so. I have a contact I send almost 30 customers a year to so I get the supreme hook up. My beef is with AT&T, I think they need to quit being so f_cking retarded and give their loyal customers the device they demand. Unaltered!!!
I am actually surprised they didnt take away the touch screen LOL, bunch of frickin idiots, hey we should all chip in and buy them a new brain. According to my calculations it should take about a dollar to upgrade from their existing
Ill throw in the first .02
AT&T has in the works a video call service.
The iPAQ has offered GPS for a long time.
There is no reason to remove GPS from the 8925 and I seriously doubt this would happen. I COULD see them removing the front camera though.
I think Ive decided to just buy an unlocked HTC instead of getting the Cingular 8925 because this phone will more than likely be nerfed.

Note what AT&T is doing to the blackberrry 8800 series ... they have neutered the GPS so that it only works if you sign up for the $10/mo TeleNav services. I can confirm this is not a rumor, having seen some recent 8800 series 8800 series devices in the last week. There should be some way to hack around this if they do the same on the 8925, but I would predict a similar approach ... leave the radio in place, but disable without the consumer spending more $$.
ok.. let me throw in my 2 cents real quick.....
First off, GPS..
I have been told from a reliable source that it will be crippled through the ATT rom to be used with telenav only... like the 8800 crap.. but im sure that we here can figure something out on making it work otherwise, so im not worried about that...
Phone versions....
I have also heard from the same reliable source that there will be 3 different versions:
8900 - No camera's
8915 - Back 3MP no front camera
8925 - back 3MP camera, and front camera for VideoShare service...
Hope this clears the air for some people... my source is reliable, but things could change....
Hahahahaha
hahahaha...haha...ha....ahem.
Sorry, just looked at the Telenav site to understand what this service is. You get 'unlimited routes' for $10 a month or 10 routes for just $5.99 a month!
Charging per route for a GPS device. Amazing. Why don't they just charge us for each appointment we store in our Pocket PC calendar too?
"Hmmm, I really want to find my way to that new restaurant - but I wonder how many routes I've used this month?"
Ridiculous.

Thanks for the info ... you always seem spot on with your sources... and that configuration would make some marketing sense
Any chance your source has any greater clarity on release dates? I figure I might as well plan on November, since that would be par for the course, but if you have anything more solid, let us know.

I can definately deal with this as I use telenav already and have found it to be reliable enough. I am wondering if your "reliable source has an idea on release date? Just curious. Thanks for your input.

It could be worse - you could be a Verizon customer like I used to be.
AT&T has NOTHING on Verizon when it comes to phone crippling.
Disabling GPS would suck, it makes no sense other than greed.
Removing front camera may be a different story, as I recall hearing that the non-front-camera variant may have a slightly thinner form factor. Given that the phone is going to be targeted towards the business market where any camera can often be problematic, I can easily see AT&T choosing form factor over function in the case of a front-camera-or-not tradeoff if such a tradeoff situation exists.
i have a tilt and love it but is for personal use. i was told by my boss that if i got a blackberry he would pay the service. sooooo, instead of buying one at full price i was wondering if anybody in the u.s. on here had a bb curve for att for sale if so please e-mail me at

In the future, the proper forum for this is the General section. Some mod will see this sooner or later and move it there.
Let's keep the flames off until then
eeeeeeeeeeew..u sure u wannna go for a blackberry??

Why not install the Blackberry software on your Tilt and let your boss pay for the Blackberry service?
he has this stupid i.t. guy and the jackass says it must be a blackberry device, i already brought up the software idea!

I second that.
To be honest my friend, I had a Blackberry before coming to Tilt...among a million other phones. I had the Curve. You cant get AIM to work, the apps are trash, browser is worse than PIE before scroll fix, the maps didn't work right and sooo much more. You cant record movies, the pics are 2mp, and soo much more.
Thats my 2¢...but if your boss forces you...i suppose you could go with a pearl...its not as crappy as the curve.
ok so does anybody know who has one for sale really cheap
Also, dont forget to repost your req to the forums at http://crackberry.com/
My problem is similar to KD8DNS.
I am about to be given a blackberry to access our company Lotus Notes mail on a Domino server. Our IT department insists that we are bound to use a blackberry device and not the connect software.
Can anyone tell me that if I install the software myself on my TyTn would my IT department be able to know of this?
If you connect to corporate bb server, your IT have to grant access each time you connect a device to the server (whatever real bb device or wm device with bbconnect you use).
Same each time you reinstall the bb client (change rom, hard reset.....)
I had myself to convince them, and finally they accepted, to connect me thru bbconnect. Had given a try to bb device for a couple of months, but impossible to get used to it.
My agency is the same. We are in the market for some type of PDA phone. I've been trying to convince them to go with a Win Mobile device, like the Tilt. They are in love with Blackberry.
I finally got an answer just yesterday as to why. They claim the Win Mobile devices battery usage is inferior to Blackberry devices (Win Mobile eats batteries). As I've never owned a Blackberry, I don't know if this is true...
I know my Tilt can use up a full charge quickly. My BlackJack II seems to do alright, although it doesn't even come close to all the features of the Tilt.
I don't know how to argue against the Blackberry...
you see im a volunteer firefighter, and i had a call to a structure fire, all went well, we put the fire out and so on. well i had my breathing apparatus on and my blackberry in my pocket. for those that dont know, a scba (secondary contained breathing apparatus) is a air tank that you wear like a packback, when i took the scba off the corner of the scba slammed my leg, just so happened that the blackberry was right there, so it cracked the screen shattered the lcd and now im in deep crap with my boss, and not one to be spreading my problems to everyone else, i just had a new baby and really cant afford the full, almost 500.00 that att wants to just walk out with one with no contract, so i figured id post this thread in hopes that someone has a ATT curve that they dont need. Im NOT asking for a freebe just a good price. Im just really glad this didnt happen to my TILT i think i would have gone into a deep state of depression. Thanks guys/gals you all here have been very good people to me.
got to att site
I've gotten several curves off the att site as refurbs as low as 29... have to watch for them. also, enter your business email and you may qualify for premier and get more discounts.
Sorry to hear about the BB. Won't your boss have them all insured anyway?
And how about Ebay for a cheapie?
Curious as to the pro's and cons? How do you like or dislike it? I go in for a couple interviews for a general sales positions. After 13 years at my current place of employment I figure it's time for a change and I'm exploring my options. All thoughts are welcome

Yeah. That's a cake walk compared to what I've been dealing with for the last decade. I can handle that.
I've updated the OP to include more companies as I move my resume through the telecommunications industry and get call backs and emails. Again any comments are welcomed. My focus is on customer derive so I'm trying to find a good fit.

I've had to call customer service alot for my wifes G3 lately and every person I talked to was really, really nice. I talked to about 5 different people and all of them were extremely sypathic and understanding. They actually gave me a wifi calling router (verdict still out) as well as making everything right. I actually started to feel bad for complaining. Any one else had that experience or thought that? I might just be paranoid, either way at least one of their services good

I've had pretty good luck myself for the most part.
Had a massive problem with a stuck Jump plan due to a return issue and they eventually just paid the remainder (200ish) out.
I would say I have had excellent experiences 90% of the time when dealing with Tmobile. Everyone has been nice, but sometimes you get that super dumb person that adds 10 services to your account you never asked for when you simply just want to close an unused line on your account. This is something that happens with all companies though. Dumb people need work too.
I've worked in a Customer Support Center (not TMo in particular) and can relate that those people are heavily trained to take all the **** customers thow at them and big companies invest a lot of money in personelle, in order to achieve that politeness overload you are talking about. As they call it, the Customer Support is the frontline of contact with customers and must be perfect. If you want the money, you got to convince people NICELY to give you theirs.
I've had great interactions every time with TMO customer service, but, hey, we are all human beings, and sometimes you are going to get someone who woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or someone who didn't pay attention at all the training seminars..
Its easy to hang up and just call back if you get someone who you can't work with..
Maybe I'm just to used to Verizon and ATT. They wouldn't do anything for you cause they didn't have to. I guess being locked in a contract kinda changes where the power lies. I guess its been a while since I talked to someone nice. Right About the time I moved to Philly I think.
I have a very good experience with Tmo CS. I'm with them since Omnipoint. Last time tried to cancel one of my lines they gave me an offer I couldn't resist. "Keep number with unlimited voice and text, no data and we charge you less than you would pay if you cancel that number". So basically I have free emergency phone. Gotta love it.

Thoughts about why Verizon would choose to remove "Simple Sharing" from the Galaxy S6/Edge offerings.
Since the feature is on the phone with other carriers, there must have been a meeting at some time at VZW where they discussed removing it -- and made the decision to do so.
I'm just not seeing why, though. I've looked at their products, thinking there must be some pay-model application they offer -- much like their Verizon Navigator -- that performed pretty much this exact function, with the difference being you are billed an extra $5.99/month or some-such. I could find none.
What am I missing here? Somebody must know how having this service available would threaten them economically, right?
Otherwise, why? Too much tech-support potential? Afraid those that still have unlimited data plans would abuse it?
How could having "Simple Sharing" possibly be bad?
Stumped.
Sorry budd but what is simple sharing? Not ringing the bell here
Simple Sharing feature is an easier way to share large-capacity files with your friends via Contacts. You can send uncompressed files like pictures to someone without them being compressed like they are with MMS.

It could be something as simple as network archetecture - perhaps by limiting SS they're keeping overall network congestion down. They could also have behind the scene deals with 3rd parties.
Or maybe they just hate us. All carriers make (seemingly) strange software modifications and Big Red has always led the charge.
I can't think of any reason why we couldn't have it - and I still don't know why we didn't have Samsung's own browser seeing as the fingerprint features were so highly touted.
