That's your problem. Use a computer with XP to flash back to your carriers latest Rom and then use that same XP computer to flash to the rom of your choice. Vista is weird the way it works with our WMB devices.

Anyone got any problem when upgrading Rom on WIndows Vista and using the Windows Mobile Device Center instead of the traditional ActiveSync? It won't seems to connect to the device again once the device is restarted into the RGB screen [after the starting the Rom upgrade process]. After a few seconds, it got the connection error code on your PC. I soft reset the device and no upgrade has been installed. Any ideas?
I try removing the connect via USB check box and use Mtty to check the connections to my device. But after I have done that, the PC won't connect my device to my computer at all... hence, I can't get use Mtty to check the connections.
So I have no idea why this is happening on Vista. It works fine when I am using my old XP computer when I upgrade to the test ROM. Any suggestions will be appriciated. Thanks a lot of your help in advance.

Looking to upgrade to Windows Vista? You might just want to keep an XP partition on your machine, as ROM upgrades via the normal RUU client do NOT work from within Vista, due to changes in the way the OS accesses the device. This also prevents IMEI-check unlocks from working on Vista.

Problem lies with vista, but I have read somewhere a solution is underway, or allready here...
Hi,
i have upgraded to WM6 to Tofclock's version and all was fine, now i cannot sync with either of my PC's running XP and Vista. i get a "device not recoginsed" error message and my Himalaya has locked up?? is there another way of going back to WM2003 ?
any help would be greatly appreicated.
You have a activesync 4.5 ???
problems!!
i am using active sync on my laptop running XP and i've tried windows mobile device center on my PC running Vista. if i thought it would work i'd hook up my himalaya to my Wii..... ?
try going to settings>connections>USB to PC and enable the option if it isnt n if it is try disabling it.
make sure u are connecting ur USB cable directly to ur PC not via a hub..also make sure if ur Connector is soldered in the right place..maybe its broken or moving..some times i also get this type of error..try to softreset also and restart ur windows too
problems !!
thanks guys all sorted, it was the "usb to pc" link that was unticked.
thanks again
I just want to connect so i can update to the newest swedish rom released.
And of course everything else
When i connect the usb to phone i get the alternatives "Activesync" or "disc-unit" or something like that.
I choose activesync.....it connects but after a few seconds it disconnects.
It will show up on my pc but just disconnects right after....it has always worked before.....i really don't know what to do.
Then i use the other alternative to connect.....it seems stable but it is extremely slow.....one mp3 at 3mb takes about 40minutes to upload to phone.
I have the "Official Update 1.37.401.3" installed but i want install the newer one.
Please help me.
My usb cords i have tried using is flawless....everything works.
Im running Vista Ultimate Retail.
Please help me through this ordeal....I'm almost at the point that I'm going tp buy another phone and leave htc forever
I really want this phone to work. It worked before actually...It might be when I updated with the Official Update 1.37.401.3 or exactly a few days after that my problems appeared.
REALLY NEED YOUR HELP XDA-PEOPLE!
Have you tried connecting it while it's in bootloader mode? If all you want to do is flash the ROM that's the best option.
One question, why did you "upgrade" to the 1.37 ROM? Isn't that what came on the device?
Open active sync (it allready might e open as u tried to connect) and go to menu (on the right) select connections and see if u have use usb connection enabled.

Yes it is enabled.
Windows XP uses Active sync V.4.5.0
Windows Vista uses Windows Mobility center:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/mobility-center.aspx
First check your advanced energy-settings (control panel, system)
To make sure put everything on 10 minutes, as these settings will reset as soon as your new (and faster 1.93) rom is installed.
Connect your phone and make sure you select the sync option, not the external disc option. Make a backup.
Then use an unsigned hard-spl if you have firmware 1.37 or higher. (signed won't work) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
When finished install the rom you like.
I Resolved It!
I managed to flash my phone with the new swedish official rom.
So I can connect now.
Thanx for helping me.
The problem seemed to be in Windows Vista...it wouldn't allow my HTC to keep beeing connected for too long
I resolved the problem on my other computer.
And I love the speed of the new rom by the way ...It gets better and better all the time.
Thanx again XDA Developers.

I used my other computer (Win XP) to flash my htc diamond with the newest swedish rom...and now it will even work connecting to my vista computer.
Good luck with your phone
Hello,
Yesterday I tried to flash my phone. First I read al the info here and also watched some videos at youtube. I have a iMac and use parallels to run Windows XP. I can sync without any problems through Activesync. The usb is plugged in at the back of the iMac.
So I started the hsplwrapper from olinex. Everything went okay until I got the tricolour screen including text 'usb'. Then the usb connection stopped and the phone could not be flashed.
Checked the issues on the forum.
I tried different usb ports a sspl-manual with no results. Also restarting pc, hard reset on phone also nothing.
Maybe it is not possible because I use windows through parallels? Or do I have to use a cradle instead of a plain usb cable?
Does someone have a clue?
Unplug the USB cable after running uSPL or HardSPL, then plug it back and wait till USB comes on the screen again.
Maybe search for the proper HTC drivers for Windows XP.
Reply
Thank you I will try this.
blackstone ruu is known to stop functioning using xp running on parallels..
ull need a pc to update to hspl and then u can use the sdcard to flash in future..
try instead of parallels using boot camp with the updated drivers, maybe this can help..
Is there also an other alternative virtual maschine for Imac that is more stable for performing this task?
If possible I do not want to use bootcamp.

well parallels and vmware actually limit the xp capabilities..
for full functioning there is only boot camp yet..
Okay then I will give bootcamp a try
Thanks for the tip!

Luckely I still have some older desktop windows pc and tried there to flash it and it works without any errors ... so thank you all for the help and I am looking forward to all new roms!
are you unlocking your phone, or trying to flash a rom? if its a rom , just name it BLACIMG.nbh and copy it to the root of your SD card. then reboot your phone while holding down the "volume down" button.
Well I flashed a rom and now I'm enjoying the new 6.5 wm and it works fine.

I have always error 260 when i try to flash a rom ,why the rest is working properly?
I got the same as you on my work laptop but not on my home one, both have win7 64bits. Only difference between the 2 is that I've upgraded my work laptop to Win7 SP1 which just came out.
So my question is, have you also upgraded to win7 sp1? I think it might be the problem, I'm anyway planning a clean install of my work laptop this week-end with SP1 and will post the results afterwards to see if it's related to that upgrade.

So, after reinstalling my laptop (win7SP1- 64 bits) I wasn't still able to flash anything, and I saw that by going to the bootloader, Windows was trying to load qualcomm cdma drivers. And it popped out into my mind, I had removed WMDC, thinking I wouldn't need it anymore.
So by reinstalling WDMC (windows mobile device center), it installed again the needed drivers for the pone to be recognised into the bootloader, and voilĂ , working again.
Hope this will help you out too.

Hi,
If you have eSata connection you have USB2. I have a DELL with USB3 as well, so USB3 doesn't work but by eSata everything works fine.
