Not sure if i'm doing something wrong but when i make or receive a call and put the phone to my ear .. it seems to still respond to my ear touching the screen .. surely this should be disabled during a call for when i'm not using my hands free ..
I'm using duttys touchflow final if that helps
cheers
you could use kaiser tweaks and set fast sleep to enabled and sleep to enabled as 1 solution
I find that tweak can cause problems with the phone after calls.
Better to just knock the power button during the call. That turns the screen off but leaves the call live.

The phone does this by default from the factory. that's odd that it's causing problems

Thats why its the first thing you can disable with Kaiser Tweak. The fast sleep on calls setting causes the screen to not wake properly afterwards, unless you manually put it into standby and back again.

Strange one this but I am left handed (eared) and after making a call I always find that my ear has opened lots of programs whilst talking. Is there a way to lock the display while taking a call or some other solution?
Also after uninstalling PocketInformant I now find my Calender softkey key is unmapped. I have seen references that I just need to remap it using "Advance Config" but I can't find that either.
Can someone help a halfwit..!
Thanks, Steve.

hey, I have the same problem with programs opening up with my ear. the only solution I found is to turn ur screen off while on a call (press power button) or don't press ur ear as hard to the phone
omar
thats what i did. im still seeking a software which can automaticly lock the touch screen while on the call.
The easiest way is to just push the power button on the right side of your device while you're talking, as sometimes you might want to hit the speaker phone button or use the keypad. If you use this method of pushing the power button, all you need to do is hit it again and your screen is active.
PhoneAlarm will automatically blank the screen for you when a call is connected.

i might be wrong but when i tested S2U2 a while ago i recall seeing something about an option to "blank screen" during calls... may be worth a try, its free and available here at xda =)

As in post # 6 I also recommend PhoneAlarm. Does the job really nicely for me.
Thanks for all your fast answers..!
I knew all you smart guys would know what to do...
Somehow I am able to manage to switch of my phone ...
With my ear I am entering the connection manager and than I disable the phone or enter flight mode.
I am coming from a SE P990 and here the screen is automaticaly locked during a call.
It would make defenitly sense to block the input from the touch panel during a call, but keeping the display on for basic information. On the other side I would like to have also access if I want to look for a contact information or agenda setting during a call.
Claus
There are alternative solutions like PalmarySoft Phone ScreenLock which explicitely locks the touch screen without turning it off during call.
The best is that this app. does nothing else ... no today plugins ... nothing in excess.
Simple ... yet usefull.
Does it have the functionality to unlock while you're on the call?
Say you want to look something up while on the phone....
yes it does.
There are two listed tweaks for preventing the Diamond from turning the screen off during a call. I've done them both, and nothing happens. Are these tweaks confirmed to work for all phones, or just on some? It says the "Sleep" one works on european ROM -- do all European phones have the same rom?
I'm having a simmilar problem... It seems that the screen turns off after a set period of time... I thought that the light sensor was supposed to only shut the screen off when you bring it up to your ear, light gets dull... I have the phone sitting in well lit room and done got near it yet the screen still turns off..?

give it a shot
I've read that if you remove the stylus while in a call, then the note program comes on automatically, but the screen will also stay on until the call is finished

yes, you are right and this is in my humble opinion the best solution. this way even if u touch with yr ear/cheek the screen no funny noises and no unwanted programs popping up not to mention that this way u have the choice and if you don't need the screen it stays black.
If you want to turn your screen back on during a call just simply press the round center button once and it will turn back on. no need for any hacks.
Thanks for the help
From what I have read, the phone screen should only turn off the screen when you bring it up to your ear/there is low light on the light sensor in the handsets ear speaker... My phone's screen shuts itself off after 3 seconds or so, doesnt matter where light is... If you just disable fastdormant (1 to 0), does the phone still shut itself off after x seconds or does it wait until there is a change in light?
Can anyone confirm/clarify the above???
Also is it possible to reactivate the display once the phone detects a sizeable change in brightness again? From reading the links posted, no one has found a solution for this one yet..?
The screen will not turn off as long as you continue to touch the center button during call. The default setting work fine with me until I need to get information during a call yesterday. The center button touch allow you to use other functions during phone call.
[EDIT] STRANGELY ENOUGH, AFTER ENTERING THE REGISTRY AND JUST LOOKING AT THE VALUE OF THE KEYS HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM BELOW...
[/EDIT]
My problem is that my phone won't go into the sleep mode when calling. Covering the phone doesn't help (I've tested the light sensor, and that still works)
For me this feature is a positive thing so I would like it to work again.
The registry entry for the EnableFastDormant is still on "1". The HTC Phone Skin is loaded (without that skin it doesn't work either).
When searching the forum I come across people who want their screen to stay on... I want the opposite to happen again. Anybody a suggestion?

Check this reg entry as well:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep - 1
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LightSensorPollingEnable - 1
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\BatteryTimeoutInCall - 5
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\BatterySuspendTimeoutInCall - 5
Also,
Start - Settings - System
Power
Advanced
Check the following:
Turnoff Backlight if device is not used for 30 Sec
Turn off Device if not used for 40 sec
All the best
Note: After changing Registry Entries.. (if you had to).. do a soft reset.

I know... However, it bothers me as it doesn't really show realiability. Why didn't it work in the first place!? I'm experienced enough to know that I didn't do anything to the registry.

Problem with 1.93 ROM
Hey,
I cant seem to get the screen to stay on during a phone call using Asia WWE 1.93 ROM....
I have got BattTimeoutIncall = 0
BattSuspendIncall = 0
Phone\Sleep = 0
EnableFastdormant = 0
but the screen still turns off if i leave the phone sitting on the desk under light exactly when the call time ticks over to 4 sec (0:03 to 0:04)...
Ideas anyone, is this an issue with v1.93 rom?
Thanks.
this works!

This is actually the best option because it turns off the screen when you want to conserve battery life.
So I just press the Center button when I want to see the screen to use the keypad or speakerphone.
Also, I have disabled the phone shade (curtain) by doing this:
Code:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Phone/PhoneLockEnable = 0
The feature for muting incoming call when screen faces down, isnt this turned on by standard? Cuz mine doesnt work. I try to call it and turn it screen-down but doesnt work. I also found a registry value that i thought was for this feature but i dont think that worked either. Can anyone tell me what to do, and knows that it works 100%?
is your accelerometer calibration? it is possible it ain't calibrated correctly and phone can't tell if it's faced down.

2. if the value of the reg HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE : FaceDownMuteRing: is "0" (as it was once written in the "tweaks" post) change it back to "1"
3. trickster, looking back at yr posts....there is something that works on yr diamond? problem, after problem, after problem...
No, nothing works on it Im struggling
Try grabbing the phone from the earpiece area (top) and flipping its face down.
It worked out of the box in mine.
Why not try and get yours exchanged from the shop where you bought it from?
Are you using the old-style WM phone skin? If so, this feature only works with the new (default) Diamond phone skin.
Mathew
Im using the normal skin that was on the phone when you get it. Or wait. I think i turned off something called: Phone -> Skin / Disabled. Maybe thats why? I read that this would stop the ring delay.
Yes, disabling the new phone skin does seem to stop/reduce the ring delay...
...but it also takes out the mute-when-faced-down feature (and the vibrate-on-connect one too)!
Mathew
Scuse my ignorance here but what is "Mute Call on screen down" supposed to actually do? Does it:
1) Mute the microphone during a call in progress. or..
2) Silence a call when ringing and send it to your message bank.
3) Silence the ringer if you turn the phone over to face the table - the phone keeps on ringing (silently) however until your voicemail kicks in so your caller doesn't know you're 'ignoring' them.

I see. So. I think ill reenable the skin. But what IS the "phone skin" anyway? Does it look different when i get a call? Never tried, disabled it right after i got the phone. im gonna try and enable it back.
Aalright, i tried to reenable, and yes it worked. I could now face it down to mute calls. But. It seemed like there was a 3 second delay before the phone would recieve the call. So i disabled the skin once again, and noticed there is still a 1-2 second delay even without skin. So i, reenabled skin after all. 1 more second of delay is no harm if i can have the "mute when face down" feature, although i'd much rather have the skin disabled to get zero delay. But i guess this cant be done.

hi all,
i do have several problems with my diamond, first of all i am using an offical rom by htc its 2.03.xxx and the manila of the hd
to come to my problems i am giving u a list of problems which i were not able to solve:
1. nearly each day my diamond dials into the internet to check for email, but i didnt
2.sometimes it happens that when i am getting my diamond out of the pocket he asks me whether i am sure to turn the diamond off or not, but i didnt push the off button, especially not that long
3.the touchfield below the display is just usable with my fingers, not with the stylus or something like this, but earlier it did work with finger and stylus
4.very often it happens that when i am called that my diamond just take off the telephone call(which is nearly impossible becuase i do have the slider and to press the field down it needs very much which isnt existing in my pocket)
5. when i am controlling my volummne i have often problems that the systemloudness is very loud but the ringtone loudness stays on silent or turns on silent
i do not prefer to have a hardreset as a solution because than i would have to made all the vocabulary again

There's an option that automatically takes the call after a few seconds or rings. Check the phone setup.

When you press the up/down volume, you're modifying the system volume. On top-left of the screen you'll see an arrow. Click it and you could access to the ringtone volume.

I use my HTC One for calling most of the time and for more than a month now I haven't encountered this situation as of yet. Maybe try reflashing the ROM instead of doing a wipe. There are a couple of RUUs in this forum you can download if you're not rooted/unlocked.

Hi guys - I too had this problem and even replaced my first handset to find i was still having the problem. The answer is annoyingly simple and that is you are all no doubt using your phone in your left hand (as I do) and the sensor which deacrivates the screen is in the top left of the front of the phone.. no problem when using ur right hand to call as the sensor is flat to your ear but in the other, if the phone is not totally planted.. the sensor sometimes hangs in the open or is away from your head far enough to activate the screen and you are accessing the drop down menu with your ear! Design flaw in my opinion but there are 2 things you can do 1) the sound comes out of the entire length of the speaker so get used to putting your ear as close to the sensor as poss 2) once dialled or answered call, hit the screen lock button manually to deactivate the screen for the duration of the call. Hope this helps.

I can confirm this. I also use my left hand / left ear for calls and my calls often die in the middle of the call because my ear has enabled Airplane mode. Sometime it happens during important calls and is absolutely infuriating and stressful. What's more, often people try to call you back but can't because it takes about 10 seconds for the phone to turn wireless back on and register with the network.
This is really poor form and rather an embarrassing oversight for HTC. I have just switched from a Samsung Galaxy S4 and this is my first HTC and even though its clearly a great phone - failing on actual phone part of a smartphone is inexcusable. If anyone comes up with a solution in the meantime, please post it here. Thanks
Turn the screen off manually when it's too dark for the proximity sensor to measure proximity.
