I updated the rom yesterday and now I am having problems connecting to the internet. SMS messages are ok and the phone but when I try to access the internet I get an error saying that there is a problem with my connection.
I had no problem using the internet with the custom 2.24 rom. Can I go back to it? Or am I stuck with 2.26?
You really need to provide more info like carrier and the settings you are using.
Sorry,
I am using T-mobile and I use wap.voicestream.com.
Sorry, I'm on Cingular, can't help but now maybe someone else can...
If you don't have the full internet package, are you sure you entered the proxy information and if so, correctly? If you ARE subscribed to the full internet package, try internet2.voicestream.com and see if you make out any better.

Where would you enter "internet2.voicestream.com"? I've never used it and haven't had any trouble getting on the net. However, I just attempted to use it as a proxy and couldn't access anything...
From what i've been told by Tmobile, is "t-zones" cannot be used to access HTTP (although it can work, but it is a hit and miss). You need to purchase a full fledged Tmobile internet plan to get full access. You would change the settings by going to settings and then connections, connections again and click advanced. Select the network and click edit twice. Make sure the "select a modem" is cellular line *GPRS* and click next. This is where you would change your APN (access point). If it says wap.voicestream.com, change it to internet2.voicestream.com. Now click next and finish and yes to verify.

kyphur.. i just upraded to the TYTN and need the cingular settings.. can you post them
Installed Opera and it works fine.
For some reason, IE doesnt seem to use my GPRS connection to connect to the internet. If I enable Wifi, it works as well.
I noticed this trouble after flashing the rom to Dutty's TouchFlo AT&T beta 2. IE displays "Locating" in the status bar. After a couple of minutes I get the pop up message "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later."
I changed my network setting to use the same GPRS provider for both internet and private networks.
I can active sync with my exchange server. I can get weather updates. I can RDP my exchange server. All signs of internet connectivity are present.
I can live with Opera, but it beats me why and where in the registry is this set.
I have googled and researched on the net, most i found was a registry setting that pointed to the user agent. but i later found out that it wasn't necessarily causing the issue. It just instructed the site that you were a mobile device and too spit out a mobile page if available.
Your help is appreciated!
Update
Ok this issue is resolved when i reverted to the original HTC Kaiser ROM...dont know why this happens only with dutty roms.
Giving Custel Roms a shot to see if this is still an issue
IE Cannot Browse Internet via GPRS/3G
I have exactly the same issue with my HTC 8525 Cingular with the original WM 6 ROM from HTC Web Site.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

I'm kinda in this boat as well, it works 1/2 the time on my stock AT&T Tilt ROM. I have noticed that if I do a soft reset, it will normally work.

Call your carrier and ask if there are any reports with GPRS/3G access at the area where you have problems. Sometimes a faulty cell transmitter can cause this.

I'm reasonably sure it's the phone, happens at home, happens at work, happened on vacation in both San Antonio and South Padre Island.
From what we have heard on here for US settings you may to disable 'Use Proxy settings' for your connection. That may help.
IE Cannot Browse Internet ...
so sorry guys but i may be posting this under an inappropriate post...
but my problem here is that i cannot browse Internet via active sync USB connection. it is giving me an error saying "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later".. this is strange but i was able to browse before. this happened suddenly and i haven't changed any settings. Tried remedies posted on other forums, how ever it dint work for me, Appreciate if any one could help me.
cheers
It happens because it is a AT&T based rom. They orinally configured the rom to use a Proxy server. There is a program i have which unregisters the proxy from the registry and Walla!!!!!
It happeed to my WM6, same here can use IE to surf internet by GPRS or USB, after disable proxy setting, is bck to normal, thanks!!
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Internet settings\EnableAutoDetect = 1
It works!!!
I had similar issues with Orange in the UK.
Received phone on Dec 7th, worked an absolute dream til the 11th when started dropping calls (issues with 3g network) and unable to connect to the internet via IE though Blackberry/Opera could still connect.
Well, after 3 handset replacements and everyone at Orange having no idea I think I figured it out. It's the Blackberry software. It seems to 'trick' IE into thinking there is a present GPRS connection, but obviously the Blackberry connection seems to use different broadcast ports where as other apps like Opera actively try to 'lock on' to a valid GPRS signal.
So, long post short... Spend the $24 and get Opera and leave IE to be confused by itself. Oh, and don't expect the 'tech support' at Orange to ever know what's going on!
Which program

There is a program under Programs->Tools->Proxy Manager to disable the proxy, and now IE works normally..Thanks to the folks who shared the information
I just got my tilt unlocked and installed Duttys newest Rom.
I also installed BB Connect.
Does anyone know the following:
1) When I check on my connections it shows me that I am connected to my WIFI network and also to Blackberry Edge.
Which data connection will the phone use ? I am on a small data plan primarily for email and it would cost me too much to use edge full time.
2) With my blackberry pearl in order to save data cost there is an option to not download attachments. Is this available on the Kaiser?
Thanks
Is this such a simple question that no one wants to bother replying or is it that no one knows?
Hi,when wifi and edge connections run together, your ppc will use first wifi and after edge if wifi connection can't connect.
Hi all,
Does anyone know if its possible to configure the Kaiser as an analog modem so that I can use it to dial-up to my ISP? I tried doing this by creating a new Connection on the Kaiser and selecting "Cellular Line" as my modem connection. However, when I tried using this Connection the Kaiser doesn't seem to be dialing out at all. Actually I'm pretty sure its not dialing out because I changed the phone number in my connections setup to another cell phone and it never rings.
Is there anyway to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
umm...no
WModem?
What about this WModem application? From what I can tell, this apps allows your phone to act like a modem. In fact I tried this app and my laptop detected my kaiser as a USB modem. However, when I tried to dial an error dialog pops up on the kaiser telling me to "Please end data call". Funny thing is that I'm not in a data call.
Any other suggestions? Has anyone got WModem working for the Kaiser?
dialup?? yuck!
Its probably a lot better if u use the cell phone data plan over dialup for 3 reasons.
1) its faster
2) a lot more convenient
3) wont use your phone's minutes
How much do you pay for dialup? 10 dollars/mo? and i beleive its around 20 dollars/mo for unlimited data plan for the phone. Just configure the ICS and u will be able to connect to the internet with your phone on your laptop.
@ekw,
Yeah I thought about the data plan.... unfortunately its uber expensive here in Canada. Something to the effect of $15 for 5 megs, with no unlimited data transfer option.
Dial-up is my best bet until they finally decide to roll out an unlimited data plan
Dial-up modem
Any luck in configuring your TyTnII as a dial up modem?
I want to use it instead of a pcmcia-modem...

hi everyone. im new to the forums. i just recently traded out my l7 for a tilt. And i love it. the only problem is im not on a great plan. No unlimited internet or text.
So i do most of my browsing using the wifi on the phone online. but ive been wondering if there was a way to disable the phone from actually using the cell phone service to connect to the internet. Id rather just stick to my wifi that i use at home or in other locations. cuz im afraid im going to rack up the phone bill.
if anyone can explain how to do this it would help out alot.
thanks in advance.
disabled internet
what you normally do before asking for help is search the forums. The search string "disable internet" we do the trick.
try it
Might work...
If you don't mess with your settings often, you could simply delete the internet settings. Search as was suggested, but I think settings>connections>connections and deleting those settings should prevent your tilt from connecting. If you never text, ask your carrier to block data access.
NoData
i had the same problem and found that Modaco.com had created some software called Nodata
ths enables you too enable and disable all data connections.
find it here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility/
hope this helps
i just delete the last letter of the APN so that the device errors out when it tries to use data. will take a look at the modaco.com link thanks for sharing @madgerald
