Is there any alternative for softick card export. WM5 storage don't seem to work on the kaiser.
Install trail version of Softick and then install WM5 1.8

Install trail version of Softick and then install WM5 1.8. USe Softtick once and then start using wm5storage. this is been working with my tilt. even after softtick expired.

I tried WM5torage and wasn't able to get it to work with my ROM. My understanding is that it will work IF you have the drivers to support the usb drive connection already, since WM5storage doesn't have them... so it really depends on your OS. I purchased a Softick license and I must say that it works perfectly. The difference is that Softick comes with the usb drivers.
My guess is that by installing the Softick trial, WM5torage can access the softick drivers.
Card Export II is well worth the small price. And I find the interface better than the WM5storage.

Mine wasn't quite that long. I just moved 1.26GB of music file and it took about 26 minutes.

Softick doesn't advertise the transfer rate of Cardexport II.
USB Full Speed (1.1) ~1.5MB/S => 1.7GB file would take about 19mins theoretically.
USB High Speed (2.0) ~60MB/S => 1.7GB file would take about 30secs.
You rarely see these theoretical speeds because of so many variables to both computers as to how fast they read and/or write. I'd say your "real" speeds suggest something close to a slow USB 1.1 connection

Vista was telling me it was going at 444kb/sec and about 54 minutes to transfer all of it (accordign to vista, but that doesn't really mean much)
I mean, normally it would have taken 2-3 hours if i wasnt using this little app.
Cool idea, just not worth the money to spend on I guess if i could just take 3 seconds to pop out sd card and put it into reader/usb port.

Thats one of the selling factors for me. I don't have to carry or have access to a card reader when I'm away from the house. I can take it to work, friends houses and on vacation and be able to transfer files without the card reader. Most computers don't have card readers but about every computer now has a USB port you can plug into. Then it gets even more complicated with microSDHC as most existing card readers can't read them so then you'd be forced to carry a reader with you.
I got it to work for a few days, but suddently this app just keeps disconnecting and switch back to activesync. I have tried plenty of way of connecting it in Card-Export, but it just keeps switching back to activesync. Very sad. Can some gurus here pls share if you have similiar experience? thnks

whencopying files - let's say some MP3 albums from PC to Kaiser via USB-Sync connection, it takes ages to complete. I guess it's about ~ 300KByte per Second.
I have a 6GB MicroSD Card Class 3 put in the Kaiser and expected a far better speed.
What is your performance?
If you're that concerned about speed, use the 6 GB card to transfer the files. Copy them from the PC onto the card using the USB reader you should have gotten with the card, then stick the card into your Kaiser.
I'm also wondering why the speed is so slow. The manual indicates that the Kaiser has "USB 2.0 Full-Speed". So why is it so slow? Doesn't support ActiveSync/WMDC USB 2?
Coping large files via Activestink has historically been slow. And on older HTC phones would cause disconnects. Two options is to use a card reader to transfer large files, the other is to use Softick Card Export to convert your phone into a card reader.
I already use Softik Card Export and I really love it. Maybe it is a little bit faster, but it doesn't exceed the USB 1 speed...

I just did a test with my TyTN II and Softik Card Export - not more than 1Mb/s. closer to .7Mb/s actually. I tested the USB cable with my portable USB2 drive and it was 25Mb/s - so the cable is fine.
I've emailed Softick to find out if USB2 is supported, or ever will be.
Will post here when I get a reply.

I simply love the tilt and have wasted countless hours messing with software and settings. I bought a fancy 8gb card for it but It transfers so wicked slow! For me to transfer 165mb file (Futurama Episode 1) it takes like 10 min. I have USB 2.0 and I am using Microsoft Active Sync on Windows XP. Anyway of speeding things up? This feels so much like USB 1.1 again!

Yeah the kaiser IS slow on doing it that way, You need that card usb adapter it (might have) came with. Its around 10x faster and much easier to transfer big files over.
You can try software like Softick Card Export (there's a freeware one but I can't recall the name atm) and it will speed up transfers a bit, since it turns the kaiser on an usb flash drive, speed still won't be as you would wish.
Ideally, would be to get a card reader to pass stuff, saves lots of headaches

is there an app that will let you hijack the usb port to alow you to use the phone as a card reader so i dont have to take my adapter everywear with me. kind like whn you put a psp into usb mode, it just becomes a card reader ad thats it. thanks.
you can spend some money on card export, or try wm5torage.

I've tried wm5torage and it would constantly lock up my at&t tilt. So I'm now using the trial of Card Export and it works flawlessly.
Be warned, it is a slow card reader for me (I know it's not the microSD card).
Yep, Card Export2 v3.06 works great for me. By the way WM5Storage will work, but it needs a driver from card export to do it. You don't have to buy or use CE2, but you do have to install it to get WM5Storage to work.
I'm not that cheap so I bought one instead of installing two.

Yeah I have the newer Soti PCP V6. I still think my CE2 is much faster. Granted Soti does some really cool stuff. When I forget my Kaiser in the truck I can still use it & see the screen over 3G on my PC!
All I want to do is transfer some ringtones that I made to my Tilt, from my Linux OS. Is this possible somehow ? Or do I really have to dig up my older than hell XP laptop, then install proprietary software in order to transfer files ? Thanks.

I tried SynCE ages ago, but I eventually gave up. I usually stick to the microSD card or SSH.

I just download everything.. I put it in a folder tree structure based on the type of file (Communications, Schedule, Utility, etc) and then I access it from the phone from the web.
Sometimes also push things over bluetooth.
You could also attempt the Card Export / WM5torage solution; which lets you access the storage card as a USB Mass Storage device; and no proprietary software is needed for that route. I think I read that someone had that working in linux.

What I have done with my Ubuntu laptop is simply send the file via Bluetooth. It's a little slow, but it works like a champ!

Is the card export thing a program I download from somewhere, or a cab file that enables the micro sd card to be read as a ums device ? That sounds like a perfect solution.
Bluetooth sounds good too, but my PC isn't (I didn't install one) equip with a BT card. The Macbook Pro, on the other hand... (which I've had a ***** of a time trying to get set up with the Tilt thus far...)

Ive got a Macbook Pro. What problems have you had? Maybe I can help you out a bit? Ive had no problems so far. Bluetooth file exchange works seamlessly for smaller programs and apps. When it comes to flashing roms, just use the microsd card with a card reader and rename the .nbh to KAISIMG.nbh

Also, you can get a USB Bluetooth dongle these days for all of 15USD on Ebay. I would definitely invest in one for the other computer

That's because on the Kaiser nothing but the CardExport program manages to emulate disk drive mode.
Is the disk drive mode that CardExport gives you noticeably better than just exploring the phone when it's plugged in normally? I know when you do it that way it threatens to convert your files when you copy them over, but in my experience it never actually does.
The only time I used disk drive mode on my Hermes was so I could charge it via my PS3 usb port since I spend a considerable amount of time next to my PS3 (my ps3 is next to my theater chair since I have a 122" projection screen and the Projector and surround sound system - and PS3 - are next to the chairs in the back of the room.)
I haven't tried it on my Kaiser since when I got the Kaiser it came with another charger which I placed there so I don't need the PS3 to charge anymore.
I'd be interested to see if it would increase the transfer speed though.. my God is it slow..
There is one utility 'nueMassStorage' that is supposed to do this, however I can't get it to work. I have it cooked into my rom and it does indeed present you with the option of ActiveSync or Mass Storage when you connect it to a PC via USB. ActiveSync works as normal but unfortunately I can't get the Mass Storage to work - it appears as a drive but Windows can't open it.
Maybe you can have more luck with it? Its available here as an OEM package to cook into a ROM or as a .cab to install.

I think that's cooked into the HyperDragon III Raphael ROM.. I'll test it out later.. I only ever hit the active sync button since I don't like transferring over USB due to the ridiculously slow connection.

I'd like to know how they got this working? I have tried all the USB memory card utilities I could find (WM5torage, Card Export and nueMassStorage) and I can't get any of them to work. WM5Torage just doesn't work at all, Card Export & nueMassStorage seem to exhibit the same behaviour where they activate and Windows sees a storage card but can't access it (I think it asks if you want to format it). I have tried on 4 different Windows XP & 2003 machines and all behave the same so it is obviously the Kaiser (or the ROM).

CEII actually started kaiser support with ver3.12.....that was working fine too...
i'm on Hyperdragon's lite rom
I have Voice COmmand instlled as well, and Card EXport worked fine for me.. I used it as a thumb drive with ym car stereo (atleast during the free trial) and it worked great.. my comptuer saw the phone as a USB drive as well.... I got the stock at&t 6.0 rom with the bloatware removed and lots of extra programs isntalled... Running Vista ultimate x64 edition....

It's faster than Activesync indeed, and maybe more importantly doesn't require it to be installed on the PC you want to transfer files from, but it's still MUCH slower than putting the card in a reader. The communication on the Kaiser's USB is done at USB1.1 speeds (~800kB/s max while a card in a reader usually results in 3-15MB/s depending on the card and reader).

Yes this was my findings exactly. If you can use the card reader then do because nothing comes close in terms of speed.
