How to sync tytn ii with mac... has anyone got any clue - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have just bought HTC tytn II but dont know how to sync it with my mac. can anyone provide any answers

You'll have to use The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile to sync all your calendars, tasks and contacts from your mac to your phone.
http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
I used it with my 8525, and it worked without a problem. I've never tried it with my Tilt, but it should be the same.
Dave

yeah Missing Sync works great with Mac...you can sync more items than ActiveSync offers for Windows. Such as text messages...

Wow! I was expecting to browse this thread and see a ton of replies flaming Mac. Good to see the professionalism showing.

Well i am a MS fan, always been a user since the first time i used a computer, but am now employed by Apple (no, i refuse to use that iPhone, its truly not as good as people say it is), and to admit, there are many things Apple is better at than MS, but Mobile, Windows Mobile remains on top only because its so open.

you can try eltima syncmate. right now its still in beta. feature wise and simplicity I like it better than missing sync but that's just me.
When I had Tiger, the one thing missing sync had above syncmate was its ability to open my device as a disk in mac os x. But with leopard, this has been disabled (missing sync 4.02) You can read through the missing sync change log about this. If you still use tiger, try and get the last missing sync v3. If you have leopard, i'd advise using syncmate since it's free though there are still some bugs (i mainly use contacts sync and no issues there)

There is no need to flame Macs. They are now capable of running their own OS as well as a working one (how's that for professionalism )
Ok, I'm just a sarcastic jerk. I actually have a Vista computer, an iMac G5, my Tilt and I have an iPhone again (which is going on Craigslist...again!). I don't know how to synchronize with the Mac so I just use the PC. I couldn't care any less which of the computers I use. They both work.

wow! i'm glad tytn II can be synced with Mac! coz my Vista just crashed on me a few hours ago without any good reason but thank God it miraculously got revived!
so i'm really skeptical of Windows and plan on jumping over to Mac if ever any nonsense from Windows/Vista comes up again..

I have owned a qtek 9000, an HTC MeTeor, an HTC TyTN ll, and All have been WinMobile 5, smartphones, or WinMobile 6 Professional devices, and I can honestly say, that The Missing sync (on My MacBOOk Pro, OS X 10.5.6), I have had SIGNIFIGANT SYNCING ISSUES, AND SIGNIFANT BLUETOOTH ISSUES, THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE even been in the equation as I was cradled with a USB. I have tried it 6 ways from Sunday on at least 4 or 5 different devices and not fared much better. I am wondering if I brave enough to try to flas my ROM on my TyTN ll to the current version, but do it running Windows XP on my MAC through VMWarefusion (I think it would be easier than trying to do it with Parralells or Boot Camp) but honestly, I haven;t heard from anyone that has ever updated a ROM on Winmobile 5 or 6 device from a MAC. If you have, I would forever be in your debt to know how they did it and how it worked? Cheers, Shogunzero

It is not possible to flash from the Mac side, Leopard will not run the .exe's.
I have an Intel Imac running Windows XP through Bootcamp. I sync through Active Sync 4,5 to my Windows desktop with never a problem. I have also flashed many roms, radios, and upgrades also, and have never had a problem at all.
Since I run my business off of my Mac. I also need to sync my phone to my Mac side. What problems have you encountered ? Missing sync has been way better than AS for me. Never a problem.
Parallels is crap. Crappy software, crappy company. Bootcamp is way better and free. I can't believe I actually paid for Parallels.

Im sure its possible, as you CAN flash using tty on other devices under Linux. Dont forget, macs come standard with ssh/tty ( as they are Unix ).
Ive not done it on a kaiser yet ( Hardspl allows you to flash via MicroSD which is not only faster but a MUCH MUCH more stable way to do it ) But i remember messing with the roms on my hermes ( goofing with mobile linux ).
Im on a C2D Macbook Pro. I sync using MissingSync. I do ALL flashing by copying the nbh to the MicroSD. This is your safest, fastest, most efficient way of flashing ( Much faster than runing an exe on a windows system ). If you need help on how, shoot me a PM =)
Just a sidenote.....
POF made the HERMflasher and im SURE he has to have something available for the kaiser by now You might try to shoot him a PM to see if he has a source you could compile and port to the kaiser. If it can be done under linux, then more than likely you can do it under BSD Unix

When I asked this question last spring, the general concensus was possible, probably, but the tools weren't there yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393869
I have never flashed from an SD card before. Just takes ten minutes on the PC in Win XP, never had a hitch, resistant to new ways I guess

Rohit8282 has a mac............. not xp. Simply telling him some useful information. Also, flashing via SD takes at most 5 minutes. There is NO RISK at all involving a data connection disruption OR power failures.
Just more helpful info

The OP was from a year ago, shogunzero searched and picked up this thread. ( yea, a noob who actually searched, good job) He has the same set up as me, running an Intel Mac with a partioned disk , running OSX Leopard on one side and Windows XP on the other side.
Suffice it to say , you cannot run the Kaiser RUU and flash Spl from OSX. Once you have SPL flashed on your phone , you can download custom roms onto OSX and transfer he files to your SD card and flash from your card.
Since I personally spend equal amounts of time on OSX and XP, I just do all my flashing and phone play from XP. Microsoft plays nice with Microsoft (why upset Bill and Steve)
If you are just updating your stock TyNT II rom then you can do it safely from your SDcard, If you want to flash a custom rom you need to initially use XP to flash HardSpl.
It is just as safe.
And if like pyraxiate, your really sweating that extra 5 mins, I just have an extra cup of coffee

LOL im with you on the coffee part, but the main reason I flash Via SD is because I flash about once or twice a week, and I keep a folder of roms as well as a folder of radios on the sdcard itself. If im out, I can swap things around at any time ( and because im an on-the-go technician this is a good thing). I can download the roms and install without ever using a computer. Very useful if one doesnt have windows at all
But, im having my cup of coffee now and flashing as we speak ( trying out a PDACorner Rom )

Being a noob at card flashing, you have a card that is just dedicated to roms ? You don't load roms on to your everyday card with music, ringtones and backups, and flash from that do you?

I do have multiple cards , but my last 10 flashes have been from my everyday card. I keep a folder inside called flash and inside flash are 3 subfolders ( Roms, Radios, Hard-SPL). I copy all of the nbh files to the appropriate directory path, then rename them to something id recognize like HDIII.nbh, L26M2D.nbh, PDAV14.nbh and for radios use the radio number. when I go to flash, simply copy/paste the rom/radio (HDIII.nbh) to the root of the SD card and rename it to KAISIMG.nbh ( do not cut/paste as you wil want the original later). just reset into botloader and viola there you go. flashing made easy hehe. (all but flashing SPL...thats done a tad differently from sd)
If you have any other questions feel free to ask
PS
I use 2x 8gb card and no issues yet (maybe 1K flashes now haha)

I've just read a review about Syncmate, a free software to sync win mobile devices and Mac Os.

UPGRADE Utility not working in VISTA?

I have actually windows XP and Windows VISTA installed in my PC. I never had problems upgrading Roms using windows xp. However, today, the upgrade utility failled in windows VISTA. When the upg utlity goes for upgrading (after checking and sowed the rom instaled in the device), WIN VISTA close the app. So that, the wizard is left in BL mode and nothin more happens.
Does anyone get successfully upgrade the wizard using VISTA?
Thank you
No, its not working.
Confirmed, not working.
Flashing ROM's + Vista = NOPE!
Hi folks,
I can also confirm that flashing ROM's with Windows Vista does not work.
I tried different compatability settings but no chance.
I am working with the final version of Windows© Vista Ultimate RTM...had the same problems with the Vista betas.
dual boot or vm w/ xp
yes not supported yet by htc
i remember emailing htc about this issue and they said they currently have no plans to make the rom utillities compatible in running windows vista!
So, If they have no plans to make upg utilities Vista compatibles. I would say HTC needs a upgrade. for now any similar company are working hard to make their softs vista compatible.
Yeah, this really sucks for me since I have been running Vista exclusively since the RTM came out.
d'oh...that sucks...I just upgraded to Vista last week.
I think the reason that htc is not supporting vista rom upgrade compatablity is because crossbow will conduct upgrades from the platform/unit itself. I think i've read it somewhere.

Scratch VMWARE
Downloaded and installed VMWARE v6 build 36983 on my windows Vista machine. Running Vista Ultimate build 6.0.6000 (MS Technet Direct download).
Installed Windows XP SP2 into VMWARE and got all updates, patches, etc...
Installed ActiveSync 4.2 on the virtual XP 'puter...
Attached HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125) via USB and activesync picked up device. Wow! this is gonna work (so I thought)
Went to flash rom and it started out well enough... Phone went to load the rom screen, and then I get the "VMWARE workstation unrecoverable error" message... Rom didn't even start to load (thankfully) and I just pulled battery and turned phone back on... No prob...
Haven't had time to look at the dump yet to see what went wrong, but as of now, VMWARE doesn't appear to be an option either....
Anyone else tried VMWARE??
Come on ppl, someone out there smarter than me has had to try the VMWARE thing besides me and gotten it to work
Maybe once Vista is finally "released" to the masses, not just us "technet" or "MSDN" subscribers, support will magically appear...
As an aside, (for those thinking about getting Vista and Office 2K7) you can get Technet Direct Plus for about $290-$300 if you shop around... Sure, you have to download and make your own media, but you save about $100-$150 bucks for your trouble...
You get Vista and Office 2K7 Ultimate and can activate on up to 10 different machines... Also get XP, XP MCE, Office 2003, Exchange, etc....
In a german forum they are talking about flashing and that it is possible.
They did simunlock and flash WM& with vista.

No plans for vista from my company either. Ever. Not until MS fixes their anti-competitive problems like driver signing, and stops imposing DRM crap on system functions. Just because a company releases some new platform does not mean it will have software support. If you want a functional platform look into Linux or XP. Both of witch have massive software support.
Most of the Apps I write run on OS X & Linux which have strong cross platform compatibility. XP is just a side OS, and buggy at that, with no cross platform compatibility. Vista more so. I would never recoup costs by developing for Vista so there is no point in it. It would be a tax write off and a waste of time and resources. Until Microsoft releases a platform that does what it is supposed to, and that is function as a platform, and not an advertising bus load of crap, then it will gain more support by independent software companies.
The purpose of a platform is to run software. If it cannot do that, then it is worthless. The function of a computer is to increase productivity, and make life easier. If Vista cannot do that, then ditch it, and get a platform that works. Stop expecting the world to evolve around a single company. If M$ was bombed with nukes tomorrow, the world would have to learn how to use a computer instead of playing with one. I would laugh, then run down the street naked shouting rejoice.

Yes, cause I'm certain that syncing our phones and flashing the roms works much better in Linux or OS X than it does in Vista or XP.
I can say that I have been running Vista since before it was released, XP likewise. I have had very little trouble with either of them not running software. The ROM update program for our phones is one of the few pieces of software (outside of security and some utility type apps) that I've seen be a problem with Vista. Most of the problems that do arise are from the new security features preventing software from running in ways that it probably shouldn't have been programmed to in the first place (like trying to run as session 0 or mucking with the kernel).

Under Linux, yes, it would be much easier, and the research would be easier as well. My staff flashes close to 20 routers a day with Linux boxen. Very easy to do.

From your reply it seems like you are a end user, and not a developer, and probably have no idea what driver signing is, what it involves, and how DRM crippled Vista really is, especially if you are using < Ultimate edition.
When it comes to flashing phones, this is why the carriers are NOT going to support Vista for a while, if not ever. You could quite easily brick a phone because of some subvertive driver function that M$ has no public documentation on. Thats why my company doesn't support vista with our routers.

Hey everyone I just wanted to let everyone here know that setting up a dual boot on your computer will allow you to have Vista as your default OS but then reboot your computer and select from either Vista or XP and load either or. Load XP when working on your Wizard, load Vista when you're not!

That was an option for me as well but I have an HP Dragon with a 240gig hard drive and Vista Ultimate preloaded. I use Vista for all of my photoshopping and what not but XP is only a 40Gig partition and aside from virus protection, is a clean OS strictly for working on my Wizard. I use Vista for everything else.
Yes vista has compatibility issues with the bootloader on our Wizards but for all other softwares, the drivers are there. The programs may not install properly or at all but if you go to their website, or do a simple google search, you will find the drivers you are looking for 99% of the time.
hah
I was telling people to do this a long time ago, glad someone caught on hah cheers, remember to get your XP key legally of course
oh yeah, I believe you can do this in virtual pc/wmware as well, XP fresh install is only about 1.7gb
Yes !
This exactly is what I have also been advising the guys to do.
Well thats exactly what I have done a longtime back, when Vista was first time launched.I'm running both the OS's since than. But as I have three 160g's Sata drives installed in my system, I can easily manage to have both Os on separate drives.never felt the need to partition one drive for separate OS's,LOL

Windows Vista and Tytn II Usage

Hello Gurus!
I am considering buying a new laptop as I am tired of my limitations with tweaking my phone using my MAC. Since Windows XP is being phased out as we speak, just wondering if I am going to have tons of driver issues when trying to sync and make changes with the Vista OS running?
I can 'maybe' find a laptop running XP, but Vista is super easy to find. Any thoughts??
Tack på förhand!

I don't have any problems using Windows Vista to connect to my ATT Tilt. Syncing via Windows Mobile Device Center works as it should. And I don't have any problems flashing various ROMs either.
The only issue I think there was is in the Cooking arena but I think even that was taken care of.
I'm running Vista Business with a TYTNII with no problems at all right now
Only thing to remember is that ActiveSync has now been replaced with Windows Mobile Device Centre
Ive got Vista Ultimate 64Bit and have no problems at all. there is a 64bit version of windows mobile device center as well as 32 bit and its far better and easier to use than XP's activesync.
In fact its easier becuae all you do is plug your phone into the usb and vista will find it and download the drivers needed for your phone. when windows mobile device center opens it will know what mobile your using and have a picture of it on the left hand side.

No problem there, whatsoever. I use my Vario III with my Vista Ultimate laptop and flash ROMs like a maniac! ;-) Syncing in Vista is easy, fast, and works intuitively.
However, what you'll have to do first (at least to my understanding) in order to be able to flash ROMS in Vista is this.
Not a big deal though and worked well for me.
Hope this helps.

Okay, so I will need to do what the link showed to flash a new ROM right? The syncing shouldn't be a problem out the box ...

Vista Vs. XP Vs. Win7 on Shift?

Hello Everyone,
I recently got my HTC Shift with Windows Vista Pre Loaded and it always seems to me a bit slow while running many stuffs together such as messenger with Internet explorer together. I don't tried loading any other windows yet. Can someone please confirm which is suferfast on HTC Shift? i.e; XP, Vista or Win7?
Thank you for your help....
In me experience XP is fastest, follwed by W7, and miles behind Vista. Currently I'm running Vista though...I tend to change every 6 weeks or so...I find once Vista has loaded ( a long time!) it isn't too bad for normal surfing or word processing. W7 started much quicker but I had some issues with it always trying to find the snapvue modem and not allowing me to access WiFi...a bizarre issue.
May go back to XP but I really like the resolution changer in Vista/W7.

To me, W7 is the best compromise. You have all the functions, including touch screen writing, and better speed.

Some of us had issues getting a resolution fix to work with our devices...so in Xp there is no standard way to change resolution. I agree with thaihugo that W7 is the best compromise and will buy a proper upgrade when it comes out (retail).
There is one thing you should know about windows 7 before loading it on your shift. It's terribly unstable for games, especially older ones.
I was able to get world of warcraft running on it, but every other classic game I've tried so far, crashes windows 7.
For everything that isn't gaming related, Windows 7 is great. But Windows Vista is the only operating system which will actually use the hardware of your shift in the right way.

Win 7 new build
Are there still problems using Windows 7 newer builds on HTC Shift ?
On RC1 I had the following problems: Using or not using AERO, it crashes when accessing Windows Media Center [BSOD], also when runing AERO and button-switch resolutions.
Please if any post, say what build are you using and the problems you have.
I really really want to get along with Win7 on my HTC Shift but as much as I worked to fix those problems it still doesn't work properly.
PS: I will install Win7 in aprox 2weeks when the RTM release is on, and I want Ubuntu 9.04 too with dual boot.
I do NOT game with my HTC Shift, I use Windows for programming and stuff, and Ubuntu for browsing and some ssh. I really hope that Microsoft fix these problems and Windows 7 will run with no problems on HTC Shift
I absolutley LOVE W7 RC1 7100 on Shift, (and my PC's and my tablets, and my laptops for that matter). Any XP or Vista lovers, take note of W7 and start to migrate there
WinMedCetner works IF you dont maximize to full screen, but you can stretch the window to almost full screen. (I know, sucky, but hey, its an answer right?)
Also, I can get the bubbles screen saver to work on shift, but you are all right, AERO does crash it....Not the worst of things to have to give up in my opinion, becuase I still get the Hover Thumbnail Preview for running Applications.
As for games, I'm not your man...I strictly stick to business programs, but have not had any problems with anythign I use, and there is a long list I ahve installed.
My vote is Go for W7! The absolute BEST thing you can do to your Shift!

I absolutley LOVE W7 RC1 7100 on Shift, (and my PC's and my tablets, and my laptops for that matter). Any XP or Vista lovers, take note of W7 and start to migrate there

Here's the thing about windows 7. It seems that almost all of the issues that people have, are somehow related to the way win7 handles the shift's video drivers. What this means is, there's a strong chance that anything which requires graphical resources may end up blue screening the shift. This doesn't happen with vista. I'm not sure about XP, but it's a glaring problem for windows 7.
I know windows 7 wasn't designed for the shift, however, it's a shame to have the added efficiency of windows 7 on the shift, with such a disabling exception. Frankly, all of these issues are most certainly related to how windows 7 tries to use the shift's video accelerator.
My logic is, if Vista can do it, Windows 7 should technically be able to as well, the only problem is, Microsoft isn't in charge of driver research for the shift, HTC is. And to HTC, this is of no urgency, for more than one reason.
The shift isn't meant to run Win7, is the first reason, secondly, all development into the Shift and it's drivers has been abandoned. Basically, I don't think enough people bought a shift, which caused HTC to take the "good enough" attitude towards it. They're not going to put anymore effort into improving a device that *while cool and all* is far inferior to most netbooks out today.
Sure, the Shift is a pretty cool device after you come to XDA and enable the phone options and such, but frankly, it's half as powerful as a comparitively priced netbook, and out of the box, not as versatile on account of it's poor processing power. It's been labelled as a tablet PC, and only to it's user base is it known as so much more than that.
The possibilities of the shift are very great, but the effort needed to reach those possibilities is more than what is available today.
Personally, I'd like to see the shift have a second chance, and it would be cool if HTC felt the same. But from what I've seen on behalf of HTC, this is a cold case file for them. I guess I'll have to see what I can get done on my own from China, tonnes of talented programmers here who should be able to churn out results. I'm even prepared to begin hiring a couple programmers who've been affected by the financial crisis, and see about solving some issues which could most certainly be worked out.
This driver issue, is one that by all means of reason, should be solvable, so long as there is no severe OS function which is fundamentally flawed between Vista and Win7, as far as the Shift is concerned.
I suppose the next question would be, if I did try to get a project like this going, what other ideas of improvements could be thought of to improve the shift experience? I know people would like to see BT, Wifi and SD cards on the winmo side, that unfortunately would be an ongoing effort whereas I'm more concerned with working on finishable projects during the resolution of greater issues like winmo's BTWiFiSD problem.
Any ideas, or support would be greatly appreciated.
My next step, and possibly the most difficult, will be convincing my wife that buying another shift (for the programmers to work on) is actually a worthwhile thing. She's not into tech, and doesn't much like my addiction
Caid.
444.
I like your enthusiasm with the Shift Caid. Truth be told its only Shift fans who know its goodness. Its like owning a Jeep. Nobody else can understand and when people ask questions they are simply told "IT'S A JEEP THING". So I guess ours too "IS A SHIFT THING". We still cherish our underpowered gadget even knowing its limitations. But honestly can I buy another Shift? I dont know. Even if my current shift was to somehow explode and burn into ashes I dont think I would replace it with another shift. Or maybe I would! But as long as I have it I will love it and continue to improve it.....
The biggest advantage with the Shift is when you plug a car charger into the cigarete lighter. There aren't many full fledged comps that you can charge with a 12V DC socket, you know.... I know there are DC-AC converters but thats a story for another day!
Now if only we can get a solution for BT-SD-Wifi winmo side........
Can I install Windows Vista Ultimate on the Shift. Love it.
Thanks
Hmm, I installes all of them, the most native. (Vista as an Upgrade to SP2 and Office 2007 SP2) And: It is the slowest what I known.
Windows 7 is nice, but with the newest RC we must rebuild the HowTo for installing Windows 7, some of the old original HTC Vista Homepage drivers not needed anymore.
best practice for all members here is, to make a Windows XP Slipstream to SP3, the modify the slipstreamed TabletPC Edition source with the programm nlite (and remove many not neccersary drivers and thems and so on, and build a bootable USB Stick Version with the small tool winsetupfromusb.
If work all together and have a look to the "last session" File of nlite, all people can have a really nice and "the fastest" and most compatible Windows XP Tablet edition multilanguage of all time.
Ans the builders of this perfect solution don´t need share their own TabletPC Edition product key, lets only have a look to the *.ini file of Nlite building, and many Ideas come together ;-)

[Q] Any Galaxy S Mac users?

Coming from Nexus one where it was no issues with installing ROMs. However life is not as easy with my SGS.
I'm using VMWare on my mac to use programs that are only for PC. My issue is getting the SGS to even show up in VMW. Anyone with some mac experience (I'm a couple of month old mac user after 15 years on PC) Who has made this working So I can start ODIN and get back to 2.2.
Kind regards
Frewys
MAC = fancy closed source Linux
anyways in VMware you have the option to ADD a USB device to your VMware machine, once you do that you can MAP the USB on the VM machine to the phsyical USB port where the SGS is connected to
Fancy, nice looking. I was curious and bored of PC.
This sounds interesting. I get the popup asking me to which machine to connect it to. But then absolutly nothing.. No missing drivers or anything in Device manager.
Do you have a link where to read more? looking around on VMWares sight is of course an option.. unless you can point me in the direction.
Kind regards
Fredrik
EDIT. Looking over VMWares sight didn't really give some help. So I'm still where I started. I even tried to disable the USB 2.0 since there where apparently some instances where it didn't work but in the end still no go.
Eh. Have you installed sgs drivers in virtual machine yet? Easiest is to install kies

Apple being notoriously strict on following the USB standard to the T might be an issue, I don't even think VMware gets around this but I could easily be wrong since it is software that is detecting hardware but I know people that have problems with the SGS that haven't been cleared up with VMware. I think they do this so customers are more likely to buy Apple branded products and they get their mega premium due to a lack of competition that their comps will support.
So, what happens that is applicable to you here, is that the device doesn't get recognized to begin with and Samsung (assuming they test on Macs at all) sees this at some point and says F it, it's not worth our time...possibly even under the belief that all mac users would want iPhone anyways.
PS, I don't consider this, nor am I trying to spread, FUD. That's just what I've seen from other Mac/PC device intermingling in other areas and part of the reason why many users can't charge their iPads on their computers.
I setup a small Windows XP install on Boot Camp. I already had it so I can play Starcraft 2 since it runs like ass in Mac but worked out perfectly for my phone too.
You could try installing the Android SDK.
I have installed Eclipse and the Android SDKs on my Macbook and use ADB to control my phone (debug mode turned on in the phone). That's the way I have developed and debug my Android apps.
I also have Parallels installed to use the Bootcamp partition from Mac OS X. I found I could only get Kies to work (USB debugging turned off again) when re-booting into Bootcamp, not via Parallels, so I guess Samsung is doing something funny at a low level USB driver level, which neither Parallels or VMWare support.
Thanks for all the reply guys!
@ickyboo, alovell83 Yes. Installed Kies. Installed separate drivers. No effect. It is not even in device manager list.
@decepticon The problem for me with bootcamp is to my knowledge (like I said new to Mac) they don't allow bootcamp on a partition HDD. Maybe I'm just "PC" and don't really need to make extra partitions to save time in case of need to reinstall (saving all music. images, movies etc on "D" partition). Enlighten me. Come to think of it. I could remove the extra partition install the bootcamp and THEN remake the partition?
(of topic. How much better FPS do u get on bootcamp compared to native mac? I ran it on my 2010 MacBook Pro 17" and have to lover the the settings pretty much to lowest settings to get playable frame rate)
@shawnfr that is interesting!! So I can use the bootcamp partion as a source in virtual machine!? Sounds sweet! Know if it is only possible in parallels? yea looks like there is something going on With the USB thing on the Samsung.. shame..
So After getting rid of all my PCs I had to use my fathers to finally flash the ROM. A LOT easier!!

If you already have a spare partition then you can use it. Just run through the Boot Camp setup and it will walk you through it. You can read your Mac partition in Windows but it's read only to protect it from any Windows virus.
I haven't checked FPS because it runs so bad on my 2007 Macbook Pro but in Windows I get a noticeable improvement due to the newest nVidia drivers in Windows. Sadly Apple won't allow hardware providers to release drivers directly for Mac.
That is just it. I get this cryptic error that i googled and to my understanding it cannot install on a partitioned disk. Right now I'm copying my entire drive to an external so that I can remove the partition and copy it back after hopefully getting the bootcamp up and running.
No I know about that whole driver fiasco for Mac. They are waaaaay behind windows on the graphdrivers... But thankfully steam seems to put some sense in Jobes.
Coming from Windows I think that the virus thing is exaggerated.. I had ONE virus of negligence during 15 years of PC. But don't trust common sense to all other million PC users

I don't know if it's relevant for newer MBPs but I did get a video update that says it solves issues with SC2.
I had some issues with Boot Camp and partition tables at first but I removed them all and did it all through Boot Camp and it worked fine. The virus things is exaggerated but common sense takes a back seat to "see me live on my web cam click here" lol
Been working on this annoying thing for a couple of hours.. Bootcamp is NOT very flexible.. But I found a way to "cheat" it.. I had to remove the second partition. Then make "system" partition the entire drive. THEN I make the Bootcamp partition. And after windows is installed I can repartiton the System and make my second "data" partition!! Messy. But hope it works. Installing windows soon.
The SC2 update didn't do anything for me. But I'm happy to see it.. At least that is a start.. I read it had some effect for some older MacBooks...
Nope.. No luck at all. Giving up for now on BootCamp. I guess I will stick to PCs for my SGS in the future. I dont really have time for gaming anyway so the issue with lack of partitioning is not really worth it
I have not yet had any luck getting my SGS to show up in a Windows 7 VM running on VMWare Fusion.
USB virtualization is a tricky animal. A device has to be enumerated twice - first on the host, then on the guest. I imagine the SGS is having a hard time with the low-level second set config request. This seems fairly typical with high-bandwidth USB devices like PDAs.
When I get to work tomorrow I'm going to try it out against VMWare Server and VMWare Workstation. I might even try Hyper-V just for giggles. Workstation has the ability to disable the set config command. So maybe it will have more luck (doesn't help Mac users though!)
ok. Interesting. Good luck with that
I just realized Mac has VirtualBox to! Anyone tried it? Maybe there is a small difference for the better in this case...
