Losing quick dial settings on soft reset - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I'm not sure why but every time I do a soft reset on my MDA Vario III, I lose all the assigned quick dials. Also, the contacts on HTC Home disappear.
Can anyone tell me why and if there is a way to either stop it from happening or at least backing them up so I don't have top keep setting them up each time?

Please read and use the search in the future. No flaming intended.
If you use the cube, u can enter them in thru there and they will not disappear after each reset. This is but one fix. There are a couple floating around.

Vario III locks when using phone

I've been having problems with my new MDA Vario III.
Whilst using the phone, I cannot use any other applications or even get the start menu to appear. Is this normal?
Also after hanging up (when either receiving or initiating a call), I need to press the power button twice to get the today screen back. Until I do that, the entire device just seems to freeze.
Are these known problems?
Many Thanks

No this is not normal.. Think you need a hardreset.

I woldn't call it "normal ", but the symptoms you described are pretty typical. My Tilt does the same. There are three known issues here, at least one of them is assotiated with using password/pin.
Issue 1. The screen goes black during the call. The workaround I use is to rotate the Jog Wheel. That wakes up the screen.
Issue 2. The Windows Start button doesn't work during the call. Don't remember the workaround for this, but I believe you can close the dialer screen and scroll up and down through you Today list.
Issue 3. When you terminate the call the screen becomes deem and some buttons may not work. The solution is to press the power button twice after each call (or disable the pin).
Sorry can't give you links (hard to do that on the phone ), but these issues have been discussed on this and other forums. Hope they will be solved in future updates! Really annoying issues, IMHO!

a few tytn 2 questions..

Hey guys, only got the tytn 2 a few days ago..and its all new to me...got a few questions..
1. When im in a call, the screen always turns off, or goes to standby, only way to get it active again is to press the power button on the side once...is there a way to stop it doing this so i only need to tap the screen to get it again?
2. I transfered my contacts using the SIM...but in contacts it only shows the mobile number, where as on my old N73 it showed the mob/house number etc all under the 1 name....for some of them it shows it under Sim Manager, but for others no. Is there a way to get it to have all the numbers under 1 name, and when i click a contact to call, it asks me which of the numbers to call, or at least lets me pick first?
3. What is the best browser to use? IE doesnt seem very good.
4. What is a soft and hard reset, and how do you do them?
5. Every time i turn the phone on, it brings up a message from network wizard saying my network is not know or something...how can i get rid of it?
Thanks

I have one answer to all your questions buddy! And the answer is: SEARCH
Seriously, your questions have all been asked and answered several times before. A simple search of the forum will yield answers. You'll also find lots of other good information about your phone.
Try reading the manual that came with your phone. It will answer all of your questions.
Why are people so lazy?

hi aldolino,
1. there is a tweak or registry hack to disable the screen goes to sleep and off, you can find it in TWEAKS thread
2. you might want to synch from your N73 to your outlook on your computer before synchronizing it back to your TYTN II
3. not so sure about the best, but i know IE ain't good enough, hence i use Opera browser 8.65 which does the job well enough
4. soft reset is you when you poke your stylus under a little hole beneath your screen, manual says so, whilst hard reset you can do it via setting
5. you can actually disable auto network configuration, start-setting-connections-connection setup

Diamond power management issues

I'm assuming this is a bug, but hopefully there's a fix. when I go into the advanced tab under power settings, I try to set the backlight timeout on battery power to 30 seconds, but it keeps reverting back to 10 seconds. has anyone else experienced this, or is there a workaround?
Use the configuration utility located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=69442&d=1202399126 to configure this setting. Then, promptly tell it to do the soft reset. For some reason the settings don't get saved via other means. This is the easiest way to ensure it gets done correctly...just let this app do the soft reset when you make mods...then make the next mod...reboot.....continue....

Thanks the tip baliles. I have the advanced config tool loaded, but I can't find any power management options that address backlight timeout. it is called something else?
Has anyone come up with a fix for this as yet?
It's so annoying when I make a call and have to keep hitting the power button on the top left (T-mobile MDA IV) to bring the screen back to life mid call if I have to hit number keys when using automated phone service or if I need to put a call on hold etc etc...
A fix would be excellent..!
Here you go.. Works for me. I've forgotten who's responsible for the .cab, but credit goes to whoever made it.
EDIT: oops.. obviously i'll have to start reading before posting. This cab probably doesn't help you at all..
DOH!!
What does it do?
I'm desperate and will try anything lol

Need advice bad... starting to freak

I was on the site earlier, and decided to install a bunch of stuff for my Tilt. I thought during the time it would be smarter to wait to reboot until all the apps/programs were installed. Upon doing the reset now my Tilt won't get past the initial AT&T screen. How can I reset my Tilt to get it back to normal? I can't access it thru Activesync since it is never starting up all the way just trapped on the intial At&T screen displaying the following please help:
R 1.27.14.09
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.62.00.00
have you tried a hard reset?
what did you install? Obviously you tried a soft reset by inserting stylus....
Try a hard reset?
Hard reset = hold down both soft keys and insert stylus. If you did it correctly the device will inform you to continue on with tapping the send key twice.
All the installed apps will be removed as well as everything else in the phone. I hope you have your contacts saved to your sim.
Anyone in Tilt world please help
I can't hard reset because I can access the device, if I am understanding you correctly.... can u please clarify?
I thought I was becoming a semi expert but now I'm in trouble I think since I can't get the Tilt to load like normal.... I do have a replacement Tilt @ home I was waiting on screen protectors from. Let me ask should I just pop my battery and SIM out, and install it in the new phone? Will this problem carry on to my new phone or will swapping the Tilt solve?
I am wondering that once I put my SIM and battery in the new Tilt will it just be default and require me to add my apps again?
so I will lose all my stuff but it will free the Tilt.... if I have a backup on the storage card will I be able to restore?

Depends on what you backed up. But if installing certain software led you to this, why would you want it back?
I held the soft keys, inserted the stylus, and got the warning message.... yet the phone is in the same place again
no the backup was much earlier just got to happy downloading today
the send is the square button in the middle correct?

Relax, you didn't break the phone just do the hard reset as described above. It will reset the phone as it was when you took it out of the box.
At the warning message press the send (green button )
semi pro my ass

this is so embarrassing
the green one on older phones its called the "talk" key

There u go.
huh?
dude listen its simple.
Hold down the two soft keys (they may be displayed as calender and contacts on your device) and insert the stylus into the reset hole that is next to the usb port.
If you do this correctly a warning will appear.
Now click send key twice as instructed. It is the green key which is located on the upper left of the shiny silver pad.

take a look at the picture and put the stylus in the reset hole and while you are pressing both keys, you push the stylus in the hole. You will get a grayish screen telling you if you want to hard reset and you will press the green phone button. It might take a few times in case you have fat fingers...
or go here:

I'm doing exactly as u say but it just reboots no hard rest is happening
keep trying....First time I tried it, it took 6 tries because my fingers kept touching other keys....Patience is the key....I think....
