Need advice bad... starting to freak - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I was on the site earlier, and decided to install a bunch of stuff for my Tilt. I thought during the time it would be smarter to wait to reboot until all the apps/programs were installed. Upon doing the reset now my Tilt won't get past the initial AT&T screen. How can I reset my Tilt to get it back to normal? I can't access it thru Activesync since it is never starting up all the way just trapped on the intial At&T screen displaying the following please help:
R 1.27.14.09
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.62.00.00

have you tried a hard reset?

what did you install? Obviously you tried a soft reset by inserting stylus....
Try a hard reset?
Hard reset = hold down both soft keys and insert stylus. If you did it correctly the device will inform you to continue on with tapping the send key twice.
All the installed apps will be removed as well as everything else in the phone. I hope you have your contacts saved to your sim.

Anyone in Tilt world please help
I can't hard reset because I can access the device, if I am understanding you correctly.... can u please clarify?
I thought I was becoming a semi expert but now I'm in trouble I think since I can't get the Tilt to load like normal.... I do have a replacement Tilt @ home I was waiting on screen protectors from. Let me ask should I just pop my battery and SIM out, and install it in the new phone? Will this problem carry on to my new phone or will swapping the Tilt solve?
I am wondering that once I put my SIM and battery in the new Tilt will it just be default and require me to add my apps again?

so I will lose all my stuff but it will free the Tilt.... if I have a backup on the storage card will I be able to restore?

Depends on what you backed up. But if installing certain software led you to this, why would you want it back?

I held the soft keys, inserted the stylus, and got the warning message.... yet the phone is in the same place again

no the backup was much earlier just got to happy downloading today
the send is the square button in the middle correct?

Relax, you didn't break the phone just do the hard reset as described above. It will reset the phone as it was when you took it out of the box.
At the warning message press the send (green button )

semi pro my ass

this is so embarrassing

the green one on older phones its called the "talk" key

There u go.

huh?
dude listen its simple.
Hold down the two soft keys (they may be displayed as calender and contacts on your device) and insert the stylus into the reset hole that is next to the usb port.
If you do this correctly a warning will appear.
Now click send key twice as instructed. It is the green key which is located on the upper left of the shiny silver pad.

AT&T Tilt Black Screen Fix !

Software incompatibility can cause your AT&T Tilt (HTC 8925) screen to go "Black", without the ability to perform and can render the phone useless.."briking your tilt"
The following fix will return the phone to factory specs only if you were using AT&T ROM. This fix is NOT tested on Other ROMS:
1. Remove your SIM card.
2. Remove your Micro SD Card.
3. Do a Soft Reset.
4. Immediately when the black screen appears, press and hold the On/Off side button ( hold for 25-30 seconds ).
5. Wait for 1 to 2 minutes, until a message appears on its own, saying that the phone reboot is non-functioning due to installing incompatible software. It also asks you if you want to re-set the phone to original factory settings to press "send" ( They mean the button with the green phone picture on it on the bottom of the phone), or press any button to cancel the process.
6. Press the button with the picture of the green phone.
7. Wait for 2-5 minutes and the phone will re-set itself to factory specs.
8. Phone will shut down itself. Turn it on normally and start fresh.
Good luck!
I found this out the hard way. We should start a list of software that does it, heres the first that I found will black screen your tilt, do NOT use this.
Levenums taskbar battery meter
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=277790
You will black screen and lose everything with it as I found out twice on my tilt. It loads at widows startup during the windows screen.
Another non compatible program!
please note that if you install "arabizer13bn277.exe" or any of its product on your Tilt YOU WILL brick the device and you will need to re-set it to factory ROM.
if u do factory rest
we will loose all the phone nos & information of contact
Im not able to sycn & save Telephone nos & notes on induvisale nos
How else can i save nos on comp
or should i get a new phone & then ask AT&T phone people to help me set it on the new phone
Please help
While this won't BLSOD (BLack Screen Of Death) your Tilt, it will definitely kill your GPS and should be avoided at all costs - Map4PDA.
If you install it and run it, it starts searching for your GPS and eventually hangs, requiring a soft reset to recover use of the phone. After a soft reset, the GPS no longer works. Too bad there isn't an option to manually specify GPS settings because it's a sweet GPS mapping program ala Google Maps that can switch between MS Live!, Google and Yahoo maps (plus one or two others I think...).
Man i hope this works!!!!
I got the black screen from flashing wm6.1 from htc e-club site. The new OS came up fine but when I restored my files with Sprite (only because PIM back up log couldn be found on memory card) the annoying Att animation starts but when the WM6.1 screen is supposed to come up screen goes black. Tilt WILL NOT hard reset with soft keys and stylus! I even attempted to re-flash 6.1 in hopes for a hard reset that way, but usb is even un-responsive! If this black screen reset you posted works, be looking for a donation from me!!!
Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am new to all of this...but I have read, and read, and searched, and read, and have learned a good bit. But now I need HELP PLEASE!

If you have a HardSPL, re-flash your Radio to a newer version. That can fix a black screen if you just upgraded your ROM. Just remember that you may need to try a few before it finally works.
Cant flash anything til I get it to reset.
As of now the phone is TOTALLY bricked! My pc doesn't even recognize it when I plug in usb. Really I'm getting two different screens. one is lit up but black, and the other is bars going down the screen Blk-white-blk-white...
I'm gonna try the steps above when I get home n pray for a miracle! I just had the screen replaed a month ago. I hate to lose her all over again! 8525n it for now!

Ok it seems to be working. Any tips on restoring my data that was on the sprite backup?

This is from the manual -
To perform a hard reset using device keys
1. Press and hold the left SOFT KEY and the right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. (It helps to have three hands to do this part).
2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the two SOFT KEYs until you see the following message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press SEND to restore manufacturer defaults, or press any other button to cancel.
3. Release the two SOFT KEYs, and then press the green phone button on your device.
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings.
It worked for me! It returned me to the WM6.1 I just installed!

I had the same exact dang problem about the whole thing about getting the new rom from e-club and using sprite to backup and then upon restore of my back up, i just got a blank screen. I did this trick here and it worked perfectly. The real trick is step 4 and 5. I did what step 4 said to do except i held on for 35 sec instead of 30. and then after that i just pushed the send key (green phone button) a couple of times and then just let it sit for the 1-2 min and the magic message popped up! I followed through with the rest of the steps and voila! It works!
P.S. Dont forget to put your sim card back in.
Anyone get positive result from this method ?
I'm not.
My Kaiser have a black screen after unsuccesuful ROM update, and I can't flash him anymore.
Because PC recognize it as Flash Device, but noone from ActiveSynch driver's does not approach for this mode.
Any solution, please ?
I bricked my tilt after upgrading to 6.1 and using sprite backup to restore my data. I fixed it by putting my tilt in to bootloader mode by holding down the camera button and using the stylus for a soft reset. Once in bootloader mode the usb port on the device worked and I was able to reflash the rom. I will use the new method to restore to factory setting without having to reflash the the rom.
i am having the same problem as supereri and rednekvolfan. did you guys ever figure it out?
Reset worked
Hi everyone.
I had the same issue - backed up data using Sprite Backup, upgraded to WM 6.1 then restored data using Sprite Backup and the custom Device Update file that Sprite Backup requested. The phone reset and then would show the initial ATT and 3G screens then black.
I used the modified steps outlined by live2c2morrow -that are a modification of asfoor's original post and they worked.
Black screen appeared - held the power button for 35 - 40 seconds, pressed the Green Send button a couple of times then waited - 5 minutes later I received the message that the phone failed to boot and was given the option to reset the phone to factory defaults.
The key is to be patient - the screen will appear eventually.
Also - the first few times failed and I think I was inadvertently pressing the PPT or wheel buttons on the other side of the device.
Thanks to everyone on this thread - I thought I ruined my phone!
Sprite Backup - upgrade
I am upgrading my Sprite Backup to version 6 and will try the restore again.

HELP !!!! stuck on windows mobile screen

everything was going fine until i installed blackberry connect, after installation there was a atomatic reset and the phone stopped on the windows mobile screen.
what do i do?
i do have the Kaiser tweak and a few other cab files but nothing major
please help!!!
Hi,
Don't panic!
Just do a hard reset and restore the latest backup you made. You did backup your device right?
Cheers,
Cacti
i have done multiple hard resets(push the little button on the bottom) and never get past the green win mobile screen.
no i havent backed up the phone and really dont care about the stuff on it, i just want it to come back on.
By just pushing the button on the bottom with the stylus you're only doing a soft reset.
You need to hold down the two soft keys on the front of the phone while pressing the soft reset button in order to do a hard reset.
now we're gettin somewhere.
its obviously my first time and i need to know what the send key is
thanks
The send key is the green call button.
hiya, I had same problem, and I've try hard reset and anything else u can think of, there was no way out, I had to ring O2 to seek for help, but they told me blackburry its not going to work on O2 stella ( but I was on dutty's 7 touch rom) , so they replace my phone instead.

Kaiser II / AT&T Tilt problem

Hi. I am a new owner of the AT&T Tilt, so I was messing around with a few cool new features. I installed the HTC Home Plugin and the HTC Default Theme, which looked really nice. After I installed these, things began going crazy. When I had them installed, the screen would not turn back on after going blank, so I would have to remove the battery and then reboot it again. When it loaded back up, I tried to manually power it off via the power button on the side. INstead of powering off, it would freeze. Sucks, I know...
So I finally decided to remove both the plugin and the default screen, as I figured it would send things back to normal. It didn't. When it was all removed, I tried to slide the phone open, but the screen did not automatically switch to landscape view. So I tried to power it off, and it acted as if it was continually loading something and refused to turn off.
This is very furstrating... Do any of you all know what to do?
Thanks.

Try a soft reset and if that doesn't work, back up any data you don't want to lose and then try a hard reset. This will bring you back to factory settings but you lose all your data and added programs.
I have both those things on my Tilt and have not had that happen. Any other third party software it could be reacting with?
Not that I know of. I installed TomTom6 on there, but I had that for several hours prior to putting the two other programs on there and it worked just fine. Is there a way to do a hard reset before the phone turns on fully? Because once it turns on, I am very limited as to what I can do...
Yes.
Put your stylus into the reset hole (just above and to the right of the USB port) and hold both soft keys at the same time (next to the green and red phone buttons).
Hm.. Strange thing happened. I simply held the two soft keys at start up and it seems to have reset the whole thing. Did I do this correctly or should I redo it?

hmm i don't think so you did a hard reset than buddy. Hard reset is holding the two soft keys and than inserting stylus into soft reset hole on bottom of phone. Doing this brings you to a white screen with a warning in blue that basically tells you all data will be erased to proceed hit the send button .. and once you hit send (green button) than it starts the hard reset and once it finishes it asks you to hit the send button again to reboot the phone.
Yeah. STrangely enough, it didn't warn me of any of that. It simply took a while to boot up from the AT&T screen and when it did, all of the stuff that I had installed was gone...
Another question..
Okay, so after about seven attempts, I finally got the hard reset to work properly. Now that everything is back to it's manufacture settings, I would like to update the plain jane look of it. I know this may sound utterly stupid, but can anyone tell me exactly how to install the HTC Plugin along with the HTC Default theme and Customizer? (If links can be provided as to the correct download site, it would be greatly appreciated as well.)
The last time I thought I installed these correctly, my phone went crazy...
Thanks guys.
P.S. TomTom 6 would not have an affect on my phone.. would it?
Thanks again!
no tomtom6 will not affect your phone, I have used it for months with HTC home plugin, didn't have an issue with my tilt. I hope that helps. I don't quite understand what you want to do with the customizer maybe someone else can help ya with that.
Good luck on your new phone.

Go here, down load HTC Home plugin and Home Customizer again.
Remember to soft reset after installing (no soft keys just stylus in the reset hole) Go to start>settings>today>items, check HTC Home. And you should be good to go.
If not , now you know how to hard reset and start again.

Alright! Thanks a lot!
I'll keep you informed as to how it goes! Thanks again!
Ah! Thanks! It works flawlessly now!
Juuust kidding...
I don't know what it is, but it worked just fine for a while.
Now, whenever I tap the power button on the side to turn the screen off, I can not get it to turn back on.
Why?

Problem: Issue of trying to do hardreset on ATT TILT

I messed around with the phone (ATT TILT with stocked ROM) tonight. After installed a 3rd party app and it booted itself (seemed like a normal procedure). However, it just hangs on the Windows logo screen and it never gets to the Today screen.
I tried to perform a hardreset by holding both soft-keys and hit the reset button; it just does not work.
I have tried more than 20 times and no luck.
I am not sure what to do about it. Would I be able to flash the fresh ROM (stocked) and bring the phone back to live?
thanks in advance.
If you device is not CID unlocked (i.e. no HardSPL) then you'll have to flash a carrier ROM. You should be able to do this from the Bootloaded screen. i.e. Hold Down Camera and Reset. Once at the tri-colour screen just run the RUU program.
Also, with hard reset the steps I take are: hold down left and right softkeys (above IE and messaging button) for a second or two and then press and hold reset with the stylus until the message appears. Then press Green to hard reset.

The hard reset is notoriously hard to do, especially with big fat (muscular ) fingers. I use two pencils or chop sticks. Make sure that both soft keys are held down at the same time firmly, then do the soft reset . If you do it right a white screen with a warning should pop up telling you to press send to proceed. If this window doesn't pop up let go regroup and try again.
It always takes me several times to get a good press on those soft keys.

take a look at the picture and put the stylus in the reset hole and while you are pressing both keys, you push the stylus in the hole. You will get a grayish screen telling you if you want to hard reset and you will press the green phone button. It might take a few times in case you have fat fingers...
