I find the same thing. It was the same with my hermes. And my wizard. I think it is part and parcel of having a more advanced phone.
You can minimise power drain by having as little as possible going on, but if you use your phone enough it will probably need charging daily.
What about "High Capacity Battery (2700MAH)" ?
Using a higher capacity battery will increase the time between charges, just it will increase the thickness of your phone, as the larger batteries require a new larger battery door.

I use a stock battery, and when I first got the phone I could comfortably go 2 days without recharging. Since I got the powered car cradle to use while running TomTom the phone seems to get enough charge that I only have to actually plug into an A/C charger about once a week.

Really depends on how much you use it.
Most often I can use mine about two days.
Power management flaws
Though it seems to be a different problem in your case, the thread "TyTN II / Kaiser issue: GPS & battery drain" may be helpful. You can install a battery monitor like "BatteryStatus", once enabled it will show you the battery current. Give yourself some time to get used to the funny time delays of the battery current display. Perform a soft reset. Enter standby, return to ON after some seconds, repeat this a few times, just to see what the current display reports in such situations. Now activate and deactivate things and software, one by one. Let some seconds pass after deactivations and terminations of applications, then recheck the battery current. In my case this approach allowed me to pinpoint the 50mA extra current drawn by the GPS once it was activated. It really seems the TyTN II does have some problems with power management.
The biggest battery guzzler is GPS, then WiFi, then BT. These features are there to be used, but there use is severely restricted by the wimpy battery. Your phone won't last more than a couple of hours with any of the above in addition to the phone (standby).
So, if you're visiting a town and need to use th GPS to find an address, you have to choose between either finding your address and losing phone time, or using the phone to call the appointment and have them walk you there. The latter is more battery, if not, cost-efficient.
Can't imagine walking around with a mutant battery either, though...
If you can go two days, then be happy (or your a lite user). I frequently use desktop connections, & have push email that keeps a pretty constant connection. A light day of use for me requires recharge daily. Again, I use wifi, 3G, & GPS constantly. If you get three days though ***BE HAPPY***
Most of the power users here probably recharge every day if not every half day.

Hi,
I just bought my Kaiser 4 days ago.
I am using the bluetooth adn an SDHC card.
My problem is, following: the batter goes every day empty! I unplugged from the charger 4hours (I was using the phone for one our), and the batter is on 34%.
Do you have the same problem or my batter is wrong?
tnx:
Adrián
Wow, really fast battery drain.
No, I dont have that fast drain.
Do you use data connection all the time? Wi-fi? 3G?
Backlight? Power off when device is not used ...
Worth to check.
I switched off the online data connection and the 3G..
I jut pulled off the SDHC card for testing the battery...
I hope it will help..
How often do you charge the battery, and how long do you use the phone per day?
It depends ... between 1 or 2 days ... and I usually charge when it is at 30% - 50%, during evening.
And I use 3G for browsing the internet for now and then randomly also MSN/Yahoo chat.
I suggest to hard-reset, and run your phone without any app installed.
Then see the battery drain.
big source of battery drain for me was the WiFi and the push email.
I have also noticed the battery drains pretty damn fast. Much faster than my wizard it would seem. I am slowly disabling things to see if I can find the source. Otherwise I am calling HTC and getting a new battery.
Are you leaving Bluetooth on? That will drain the battery pretty quick

Nope - no bluetooth - no push email. Its very wierd.
sorry i was referring to the OP

I think that is not correct. Bluetooth hardly has any influence on the battery drain.
You can leave it on for ever.
But do a test yourselve.
1. Load the battery 100 %
2. Set bluetooth on or of and put your baby to sleep for 8 hours.
3. Check the battery situation in the morning, the first time you start using it. You should, in 8 hours, not have lost more that 4 till 5%.
That is with GPRS and no 3G or HSDPA. I did not test that, but...
You will see that a night with, or without, makes hardly any diiference.
But maybe I am wrong.
My personal experience is that using GPRS ( Phone=GSM only) is the most efficient. Especially if you have Messenger on the whole time.

Hi
When Bluetooth is on the device will not go into standby even if the screen appears dark as Bluetooth needs the OS to be alive to work, so if you have programs loaded that are using CPU cycles the battery will drain quickly as these programs will run continually.
Regards
Phil
The only thing that I am saying is that my phone, in 8 hours, with bluetooth on, uses max 4% of battery drain. With blutooth off I see no difference.
The phone is in sleeping mode, so people can call me. What else can I say?
So I cannot say that Bluetooth drains my battery faster. At least not visible to me.
I tested did a long time ago with several systems. the last one, before my Tytn II came was on blootooth its whole life. And now again I see the same at my little kaiser.

P.s. and then this.
I see as standbye the situation, that I only can switch it back on with sliding the keyboard or the power switch. If other keys do not react, is in't this standbye? The rest of the discussion I prefer to leave to better specialists on this forum

For Best battery life you should make a false Push email and set it to check manualy there is info on google about how to do this. thats only if you dont use exchange. Also NO bluetooth yes it does suck lots of juice! Also make sure you dissable the IR connections that also sucks juice. there are also power saving reg tweaks in the registy that you can find in the Wiki
There is no I/R in Kaiser, and BT standby seems to draw very little. I leave mine all the time, I loose about 5% battery overnight. WiFi is a completely different story, it's a power PIG.

I still disagree.
When bluetooth is just ON and not connected to any device it hardly consums power. (IMHO)
Do a simple test and let it on for a night sleep with and without bluetooth.
When connected to a headset or whatever it of course consumes.
Pls tell me the difference.,

I have had my TyTN II since Tuesday the 25th - so only 2 days now. I pulled the phone out of the charger at 6:50am this morning. I have WiFi turned OFF (only use at night when I am surfing while watching TV). I have BlueTooth off. I do have BB Connect installed and running with 1 BES account and 3 BIS accounts. I was on the phone for maybe 5 total minutes so far this morning - and I surfed for like 10 minutes via EDGE on the way to work. I do have SPB Mobile Shell 1.5 installed, but from what I read it doesn't effect battery life. I have the unit set to shut the screen off after 2 minutes....and my LCD brightness is at like 70% or so.
With all this - as of 10:35am this morning - I am already down to 75% battery. At this rate, the phone will be dead before 5pm....! Not even a full day.
Man - I hope this gets better because I can't run my life with phone plugged in half the day just so it will last me!
I've been researching this phone and I really like it so far, but I have a question about the battery.
I've read about the battery lasting something like 9 hours or so.. now my question is that 9 hours while constantly in use?
For example if I leave my house at 3:00 PM with a full charge hang out with my friends, end up at a bar at night, and I maybe talk for 20 minutes, send 5 txt messages and barely mess with the phone, will the phone dying around Midnight?
With that type of light usage it can last a day or even two deopending on how you config. & the radio you use.
The +or- 6-8 hours is with wifi, BT, 3g data usage, gps, etc...
I make it about half the day(5-6 hours), but I've got AgileMobile running all day using 3G connection so I'm assuming I'm running normally. This is greatly improved by switching off 3G(adds another 2-3 hours). I put maybe 15-30 minutes of calls on my phone a day, it's mostly a mobile web browser and instant messenger.
To get through a full day for me I charge the phone in my jeep while driving to / from work, and most days I eat lunch out so I charge it then as well.
Thanks for the replies. I will probably have all data connections turned off, and won't run GPS on days like that.
I really dig this phone, I just got a little worried about the chance that I won't go home after some heavy drinking and won't have a phone to use in the morning...
Also, I just read on a website review from Laptopmag.com that said "We left a fully charged Tilt on over a long weekend, and when we returned, the unit still had three out of four bars of battery life"... What do you think?
Well I think if you upgrade to wm6.1, you should gt alot better battery life.
I was sick (in bed most of the day) yesterday so I took my phone off charge at about 7am in the morning.
I sent some messages, surfed the internet with hsdpa for about 3 hours (and this is in a bad signal area, which means more battery consumption)
then did some wifi (20mins)
and a bluetooth recieve or two.
I just checked the battery level this morning (8am) and I still had 57% left. I was abit surprised because I thought it will have drained by now like it did with wm6. The point is wm6.1 has a lot better battery life. So for maxumum battery life you should upgrade.
Just my 2 cents
Battery life...
Hi I have had the kaiser for not long really... there's a neat program that tells you what is the drain, of the battery...
well if you are not touching it and not doing anything it drains about 6-10ma, so based on that yes, it can last for a looooooooong time, now when you call it goes to 200-400ma, so yes it drains more battery there. ( as you would think it would )
then again you can have the backlight to low, to use less battery, also, turn the screen off when not using it, and change the radio an a lot of hacks.
based on my experience using EDGE, the GPS, the screen, playing a game, sending some mms, and talking, it can really kill your battery in no time.
but you can also well get a car charger ( be carefull with those ) or a better battery, because to be realistic the one that comes default really sucks...
I have seen people talking about a 3000mah battery so that could really drive the phone for a loooooooong time, better think about other issues, like how sucky the camera is... ( maybe with the video drivers we are wating for this will get fixed ), also well, sometimes the performance is not that good, ( also video drivers I think ), besides that, and if you don't mind like I do, to have to wait for a few seconds to get things going on, the phone is a real jewel, if you live life in the fast lane, well maybe that second to open the keyboard will kill you

Seidio 1650 battery and the Mugen 1500 batteries seem to be good oem size batteries from I have read. THere is a thread on the Kaiser Accessories board about batteries.......
I had a similar experience with excessive current consumption in standby, likely caused by the GPS though it is off (see Post "TyTN II / Kaiser issue: GPS & battery drain").
Perhaps you should install "BatteryStatus". Make yourself familiar with the battery current display, and try to figure out how much power your device draws.
Another nice test is, switch all units off (phone, WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS, really everything). Make sure no program is running (TaskManager). Leave the fully charged phone alone for 5 hours or so. Recheck the battery capacity whether it dropped more than very few percent. If you do not need GPS frequently, you may simply try a soft reset. If you have interesting results, please be so kind and add them to the abovementioned thread, too.

Hey everyone. I recently purchased a 8925, and am experiencing the battery drain issue that some others have mentioned. I used to own a 8125 and its battery life was much longer (easily 3 days of my usage). I installed batterystatus on the tilt and it seems at idle with all apps closed its pulling 60-60 mA, where my 8125 used 10-15mA. Has anyone come up with a solution for this? I currently have 3.29 hardspl with the stock wm6.1 installed.. any help is much appreciated

turn the lcd brightness down, get kaiser tweak...set your mobile internet connection to go off after a period of a minute or two of non usage (thats a big one)
I have done these above listed, brightness down all the way, i disabled the internet connections with nodata, and i did a couple things with kaisertweak (sd power management). This seems to have no effect on the drain
Less is better when it comes to longer battery life....

Maybe all the extra bits of software and utilities that have been installed are gobbling up those CPU cycles (and consequently the battery charge). I have a very basic setup on my TyTN II and reducing the screen brightness right down as well as changing to GSM (rather than 3 G) makes a huge difference in battery life. Even disabling HSDPA and resorting to just 3G makes a difference. It's time to simplify things I think and rather than installing apps to stop a data connection starting up for example, delete any data connection settings on the phone and simply don't do anything that may require a data connection.
How long are you getting out of a charge, doing what sorts of things how often? I'm sure if you hard reset back to the basic ROM and test again with just these few changes, you'll notice a big difference
If I simply flash the stock ATT rom on the phone, and install batterystatus to view my drainage, it is still at 47mA. It seems turning off all the data stuff saves maybe 10mA... i understand that a bad battery would drain faster but would that make the 47mA on standby? i thought that measured how much the phone was using? maybe the battery is bad. just yesterday i left at 7:30am with a full charge. I litterally sent maybe 4 text messeges and maybe a 3 minute phone call, the rest of the day it was on standby, and at 7:30pm it was down to about 34%! this is unacceptable!
Does anyone know what batterystatus reads? either the rate that the battery is losing power or the rate the phone is using it. is it possible that the battery is bad and would cause it to drain at a higher amperage? i know a bad battery drains faster but dont know about this.
I feel your problem. My tilt is so bad that it still drains while charged in the car. Maybe a bad battery but this is crazy.
ok I talked on the phone today more than usual (maybe an hour max!) and it shows that the battery drains super fast when making a call, which to me says the battery is just toast because a call uses more power. I was hoping to find a solution but i think I will just purchase a new battery.
how about buying a slim extended battery on ebay, the 1600mah one. You will definitely notice a difference

Well from what I hear the ATT ROMs have lots more 'stuff' than the native HTC ROMs but whether that means more CPU cycles are used when those programs aren't started I doubt. It's really background utilities that'll be of concern. Rather than installing software (which itself will use battery charge) to see why your battery charge is going down so quickly, what's wrong with going about your normal usage without non-essential utilities and keeping an old fashioned log of how long a full charge lasts and what activities for how long you used your device for? If you try some of the suggestions already given and keep a careful log, you will notice a marked improvement - I did. Whether you wan't to keep those changes though is important. I found the screen was just to difficult to see at low brightness settings when out in the sunshine so I've set it back to a high level and carry 2 spare batteries with me when I'll likely be out and about using the device for a full day - I've yet to get through all three batteries in a day and they're compact enough to easily carry around. With my cradle that has a battery recharge bay, I can also recharge all my batteries overnight.
Sold phone, MODS PLEASE DELETE
I think if the battery life is so small, all the spacial functions like WiFi, GPS, video, movies are useless for example for a person that are not carrying an extra battery like me....
I have turned off wifi, 3g and so on to preserve mu battery...
So every time I want to wifi-ing, or GPS-ing like 20-30min I'm scared that I will got in the middle of the day with battery down and phone off....
So like that I'm avoiding to use all the nice features of the Tilt
What you think about it?

Hi There...
You can do what I do... Whenever I use the GPS, I have it plugged in my car charger (I have one of those USB adaptor things and just use a retractable data cable).. I bought my Tilt used, had it well over a year now, and still have the original battery.. I typicalyl get 2 to 3 days use before I have to recharge... and I use Wifi quite a bit (my carriers internet services are great for TomTom and such.. but too slow for streaming or anything that needs broadband)... I dont; charge it though unless it is udner 5% usually.. if it is close, I will play some graphic intensive games liek Worms World Party for a while to get the battery down where I like to charge it at... When in the car, I always use the charger because I don;t think it really charges it while TomTom is running.. Usually I still have WiFi on.. when that kicks off the Wireless GPRS interent kicks in... and then with the GPS chip... and got the screen on BRIGHT when it is in the car... It uses the power at about the same rate I am using it (atleast thats my logic) The battery always seems to be at about hte same point it was when I first plugged it in give or take a few perfect if I have been using it for hours on a road trip...

Good, but I walk in mountains w/o a car , or wifi-ing on the street so..
What radio are you using? You may need to change to a less energy-intensive radio to preserve battery life. Keep the screen only as bright as you need it, as a really bright screen will drain the battery. Also, put the phone on lock and then turn it off to keep it from coming back on when you're not using it. I'm easily able to get a day or two from my battery by doing all of this, and I use the phone a lot.

I'm with:
PC ultimate v 11
radio 1.65.16.25
when I'm with turn off mode (push the off button to turn off monitor) it can last 3-4 days, but when I use it, like, call-5min or music-5min or gps-10min it goes down like 15% and simething like this (beem a bicture to PC - down 3-4%, and so on)...
Check your battery, ROM version,...
With heavy use I can last a whole day (3G connected all the time, maybe 30mins of browsing, 1-2 calls, 3 hours of music, 30mins GPS), with light use 2-3 days.
Maybe try flashing a different radio, to see if a different one improves your battery life. I recently went to a new ROM, and have tried five different radios to find the one that gives me great reception, but doesn't drain my battery in a few hours. Three of the radios drained my battery so fast that I was running out of power in the middle of the day. Another radio had poor reception. My current radio seems to be giving me good reception without draining the battery so quickly. It all depends on what works for your ROM, device and location, so it's trial and error until you find what works best for you.

I have start a battery logging so after wile using/sleep time I can post a mA data to suggest me if it is ok
here you can see my battery log:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/11729584/Battery-log
I used the phone like 2min-video klip, then suspend 10min, then 5min-gpd and 5min-wifi and the result is ~17% down
is it normal?
Redo the same, but starting with a fully charged battery, and run the battery down completely until the phone turns off. It's the only way of judging how your battery performs, not just drain it a few percent as it means nothing at all. Percentage is not of absolute precision, especially if you rarely do full cycles to your battery, it's common to have the meter go down fast the first bit, then stay at 10 or 20% for several hours. Posting the same kind of log would be good.
Other than that, current consumption looks normal.
it's all about tradeoffs i suppose. i don't know of any other device of the same size that does all the things the kaiser does, that has a significantly improved/better battery life. the GPS my nokia 6210 navigator which i use as a backup phone/GPS does last slightly longer, but not all that much.
if you need something that lasts a whole day or whatever on battery, then the best bet apart from getting another battery is probably a dedicated device for that particular activity (GPS unit/netbook/whatever). but then it may not do some of the other things.

Alright, next time post this stuff in the ROM thread...
Or do you've got an specified question? There are much more "naked" COM3 (start on bottom) ROMS out here that don't drain the battery in my oppinion (try KWBR for example)
Here are a few possibilities for you.
If you recently flashed, it may take a bit for the phone to calibrate the battery meter properly. Try a few power cycles. Drain your battery not quite to dead, 10-20% should do, before fully charging it. Do this a couple of times. Mine always seem to drain a lot faster for the first few days after a flash.
You could try a different ROM, either Energy or someone else. The eye candy is nice but it DOES come at a price.
You could try a different radio with your ROM. Some combinations work better than others. You might have to try a couple to find out what works best for your situation but 4.49.25.95 and 4.49.25.94 both seem to be solid choices.
Turn off 3G and wifi. Both are battery hogs but 3G is worse; use wifi instead of 3G if possible. If you are using push notification for email, turn it off and set it to automatically check every 15-30 minutes instead. If you can live with the slower speed, using GSM instead of 3G will help drastically.
Turn off GPS (location services) if you aren't using it. If you use QuickGPS you should still be able to get a lock in under 30 seconds, usually 10-15.
If you are in an area with poor signal, you will get worse battery life. I'm not sure the exact difference in radio power consumption but it is significant, several times higher with a weak signal.
If your battery has a lot of cycles on it, it could be losing it's capacity. Li-Ion batteries do that, unfortunately, and there isn't much that can be done besides replace it.
If you are looking at battery replacement anyways, you could get a larger battery for your phone. I think there has been some discussion of high-capacity batteries in the Accessories forum.
Get an external emergency charger like the Engergizer Energi To Go (note that you can find it MUCH cheaper). There are a lot of different ones but I have had good luck with the Energizer one. It comes with a pair of Lithium AAs but if you use it a lot, it will work with AA rechargeables too. You can get similar devices with a built in Li-Ion battery but I like the AA ones because you can always grab a couple of Alkalines almost anywhere in a pinch. Duracell makes a similar one. Stay WAY away from it, I had two and they sucked balls.
If it were me I would try flashing a new ROM (task 29 first if you can), new radio (start with 4.49.25.95 if you stay with EnergyROM) and give it at least three days. Turn off unneeded radios, push email, and (if you can) 3G. Get a portable power source like the Energizer one I mentioned that you can keep handy for when it starts to run down.
