Sync and USB Driver - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

1) I am tired that active sync synchorizes only ****. I mean, for example if i added a contact in the pda when i sync (pc over device) i lost the new contact. Is there any form (like in palm) to synchornize both at the same time and no overwrite one (item) over other (pc or device)?
2) Any way of use the pda only as an usb driver to put things in the pda withhout sync?
Tyvm.

1) look at your activesync settings, you can set which device would have priority in case of conflict. But in your case......it shouldnt delete case i dont think a new contact is a conflict, but check anyway.
2) wmstorage, but it doesnt work.......there's some tricks to get it to work, and some ppl have posted a working cab. search for it.

SOTI Pocket Controler Pro.
u will never use active sync again

just correct me, if i'm wrong,
but doesn't pocket-controller need active-sync to connect to your pda?

1) i sympathize. i've had many problems with activesync before, that i fondly call it activestink now. but check your settings, when i add something to my pda, activesync does manage to synchronize properly between my two devices.
2) if you just want to transfer files and install/uninstall programs, just delete all partnerships and connect as a guest. no synchronization, but as mentioned you can still copy/transfer files and add/remove programs.

It needs to use active sync the first time to install it on the device then the rest is the device activating it instead of active sync.

Yes, but thats one of the options. U could choose one of the other ways.

Activesync Replacement?

I knows its sortof a stupid question because windows products usually (seem) to only work with other windows products, but is there an alternative to activesync. Active sync is annoying because you cant close it, and everytime i plug it in it asks me to set up my outlook stuff. All i need is something to allow file transfer... not all of the contact/calander stuff. Also if there is one out there, is there one i can put on a usb drive so i can download/transfer files on any computer?
you can use softick card export

Why don't you just disable all the contacts and calendar sync in the setup when you connect the first time? You then can do your file transfer.

WM 6.1 Activesync & Vista WMDC data direction

Hi -- I'm running Vista Business' WMDC on my PC and WM 6.1's (ATT's unreleased, official WM6.1 ROM) ActiveSync on my Tilt. I have the sync set to replace the data on the device, but find that on occasion (mainly calendar items, but contacts, too) are being updated on my PC. Do I have the capability to fully control the direction of the sync? I want to sync only from the PC to the phone, not the phone to the PC, as any changes I make will be done at the PC.
With your phone connected via WMDC go to Mobile Device Settings>Manage a Partnership>PC Settings>choose the "If there is a conflict" dropdown menu and choose replace items on device, save.

That's exactly how I have it set, Alemaker. I've oftentimes dismissed a reminder (I set reminders days or weeks in advance and then change the reminder date as the time/date gets closer) on my Tilt, only to find it also dismissed on my PC, not reminding me at all. Until I find a definite solution, I've gotten into the habit of not dismissing the reminders on the phone. I just want to prevent the phone from doing any updating to the PC.
o.k.
This forum is a great place for issues and you may want to try posting this in the MSFT PPC newsgroups also. they can be found at microsoft.public.pocketpc. I'm sure between here and there, someone has seen this or can offer a solution.
The above setting does just what it says, uses the action you choose in case of conflict i.e same item has been changed on both devices. ActiveSync doesn't have an option to act like you want, so unless there's a hack somewhere there's no way.

ActiveSync Coming Back - Possbile Solution

Hi.
I figured out this solution and hopefulle this should work for everyone.
1. Configure your activesync with any dummy server name
2. Make the sync to Manual schedule
3. Reset.
Or you can do this, find it on Polaris tweak and tricks thread by Mahmood
when i have the Polaris
"To keep Active Sync from popping up at different times for no apparent reason:
You will need to go into the registry.
1.Download any program TASK Manager/Resco Explorer/Memaid etc.
2.Find the NOTIFICATIONS menu (or Notified Programs).
3.Find <repllog.exe> it will have several types listed. Find the one that says<AppRunAfterTimeChange>
4.Highlight this prompt.
5.You will need to Disable this. The only time Activesync should start now is when you sync to your PC."
I used the TASK Manager and it works perfect when i disable the repllog.exe
Active sync dont bother me no more

Problems syncing with outlook

Having a problem here. I can't sync the TD2 with outlook. there's a error message when I try syncing which says, "Cannot sync with outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected."
But I just installed my outlook so everything is default. I want to sync my contacts on my phone to outlook.
Anyone knows whats the problem? Thanks
I've exactly the same problem...

Try to remove the device in the PC's ActiveSync (dont know the english name for it, should be under File) and then reestablish the connection. Make sure the device is unplugged from the computer when you remove it in ActiveSync.
If that dont work, reinstall ActiveSync perhaps?
Just thoughts...

Well I did try that actually. Uninstalled activesync from my PC and install back. But still the same problem.
Try removing your Outlook profile from Control Panel > Mail (I'm using WinXP classic view, dont know where to find it in Vista) I've never done this myself but I think this will wipe all settings/mails/contacts and so on from outlook, so backup everything. Then start outlook again, which I hope will create a new default profile.
tried as you advised but still no luck.
same problem here. Doesn't know the way to get round it. Please help
Ok, now I have fixed it. Actually, it is quite easy. First, You need to uninstall activesync and reinstall it. While installing process, it would ask us to delete profile(s). Delete all of them and click next. It will create new profile.
Now you can sync with your outlook without any problems.

ActiveSync 4.5 probs

Recently I've used the recovery dvd to reset my PC. I also have to install Active Sync. Strangely enough I couldn't install the disk that HTC puts into the boxes where you buy your phones in. The program says that you must install flash 8.0 or higher with a link that link you up to Adobe's website. I already did install the latest flash player. I uninstall it, reset the computer, put in the disk, hit the link, install the flash player again, restart again. Still the same message. After that I downloaded ActiveSync 4.5 at the website of Microsoft. It works okay.
When I put a new contact in the phone it won't set the contact into Word Office Outlook 2003. Otherwise it works.
I've tried to delete the device into ActiveSync and loaded up in it again but that won't work unfortunately. Please help!
Is everything else you selected to sync sychronising properly? It's not just simply that you didn't select the options when you re-installed?
Does ActiveSync come up with any error messages? It could be that you need to delete partnerships and re-establish them - in my experience ActiveSync is a bit 'fussy' when uninstalled and re-installed.
Whatever, make sure you do full backup(s) before trying anything - I lost all my data one time when an engineer 'tried' to re-establish my ActiveSync partnership!
My pc was completly turned up side down so I used the recovery dvd and that deleted the whole C disk, also ActiveSync. I do had to download ActiveSync from the website because the disk wouldn't run. And yes I do change some options.
It can not synchronised some contacts that I install on my Topaz. Installing contacts in Outlook 2003 to the device works, otherwise not.
It gives the warning code 1.
Sorry, not sure what to suggest here.
If NOTHING from the phone is syncing with Outlook (i.e. no Appointments, Tasks or whatever) it sounds to me as though it could be a problem with the firewall - if you have one set up. Try disabling that and syncing.
If it's only Contacts that aren't syncing, but it works the other way, I'm at a loss.
Worth looking at the Microsoft Support pages - but ActiveSync often seems to have a mind of its own!
Sorry I can't help.

It does Sync tasks, appointments, etc. Just a couple of contacts strangely enough :S
...and it won't sync NEW Contacts at all? I've had the problem previously where existing Contacts didn't get changed - ActiveSync seemed to have got 'confused' as to which was the most up-to-date version and I had to go through entire Contacts list making small changes, waiting for them to be replicated, and if they were not then deleting that Contact on both devices and adding them back in.
That's simpler than it reads - but if you can't add NEW Contacts from the phone I'm not sure that's the problem.
Sorry.
Thnx for your input
ive tried to synce my gmail contacts all goes well with the setup then it wont even sync i keep hitting the synce button and NOTTA. so i said fuc* it and did it all manually. must be a microsoft thing.
