I turned my phone off before boarding a plane, and then when i turned it back on it had lost all the data connection info. Now it doesnt see the phone network either. I am using an unlocked phone on t-mobile in the US...It has worked fine for the last 6 months....
I tried re-entering the data connection info, but i still down get either a connection to tmobile gsm or edge or gprs. When i go to manually select networks, it only sees att, which of course i cant connect to, cause of my sim card being tmobile.
Any thoughts ?
TIA

Is it possible that the phobe can lose the unlock ? Would only seeing ATT be the a symptom if this were the case ?

Hi. I just bought a new galaxy s from vodafone, but when i tried to use a 3g data connection it just won't work. it works fine with wi-fi connection but if i turn that off (or if i don't use it at all) the phone just won't connect to the internet. i've double checked the apn settings...is there an option to turn the data connection on and i'm just not seeing it? please help...
sometimes it helps to restart the phone
or switch it to airplane mode then back
Did that
i've read other posts for other type of connection problems and i did what u said...nothing...it just doesn't even try to connect...
do you have any other SIM card from friends/family that you can try?
just wondering if it's related to your SIM account, or if it's defective phone
if it is working over wifi there is still something wrong with apn settings or your sim card.. i doubt it is the phone itself.. or you are in an area with no 3g edge.. or wrong phone ie t mobile vibrant on bell or att network

thanks for the update
glad to hear you are back online
yes phone companies do mess up very often in our accounts
just yesterday i was complaining to my phone company about something similar
So i picked up a Verizon 8x to use back home (Bermuda) since its an unlocked world phone. I popped in my sim and entered my providers apn but the phone only connects to edge. Is there something special i need to do to get it to connect to 3g (HSPA)? Also the connection mode settings are grayed out, i cant force it to connect to a type of network if i wanted.

Sorry for you, but that is Verizon. For that reason, I travel also to Europe, I use only phones which can do all GSM. You may call Verizon that they make a change, but not likely.
I've recently got my hands on an unlocked Sprint HTC One. I've done several searches to see if Sprint's version is compatible with TMO, as that's the carrier I want to use it on (I also wanted the black version which is why I went with Sprint). I'm able to have a steady signal connection while at home, however, I am unable to get any mobile data to connect. When I turn on mobile data, it simply says "disconnected", Furthermore, whenever I leave the house, my data connection would drop, and I would have to re-register my device under TMO. Is this behavior normal for an unlocked phone? Also, is there a solution for the phone not able to recieve any mobile data?
Hi,
I have an HTC One M7 with it's original Vodaphone ROM (UK, vodap102)
Everything was ok but about 2 days ago suddenly it lost it's cellular network.
from time to time it connects but looses it again the moment i try to enable mobile data.
I have tried to reboot, factory reset, tried different SIM cards (from same company) but nothing.
when i go to network operators sometimes it can't find anything but sometimes it finds all the networks around. when i try to connect to my network it tells me it "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
I had a firmware update as well (sense 6) but after the update was no change.
Is there anything else i can do?
P.S.
The phone is with unlocked bootloader, S-on and is being used in a different country, not in UK. as i said, it worked perfect for about a year in the same cellular network
Please asist, Thanks.
A little update...
If i choose 2G only, it works fine. but only in this mode.
any suggestions what might it be and how to solve it?
Hi
I am in Kolkata India and recently switched from a 2G to a 3G plan with Vodafone Kolkata. Ever since then, my problem is that I am unable to connect to 3G using WCDMA. Neither voice nor data works. If I revert to GSM only, then voice and 2G works fine. Wifi has been fine and my saviour at home.
Phone details: Sony Xperia SP C5302 running Android 4.3 build 12.1.A.1.205.
I have confirmed with network service that it is not a SIM card issue, by carrying out the foll. tests already
1- Signal strength in the area of use : At the time when I am unable to connect to 3G, my colleague sitting in the next desk and using a Motorola phone is consistently able to connect to the same 3G network from his phone. So the network strength must be fine.
2- SIM damaged or dirty - I have obtained a new SIM card as replacement, after this problem started, from my service provider yesterday. But the problem is not resolved.
3- Manual network search and connection - I have tried this many times, using WCDMA only or WCDMA(Preferred) options. In either case, only on rare occasions, the phone was able to connect to a network. However, 3G data connection (H+ icon) did not show and then the phone disconnects from network. On most occasions, when I manually attempt to connect to the 3G network, I get the message "Could not register to the selected network. Make sure SIM is inserted."
3- Trying different SIM/Handset - I have tried out both options of switching SIM and handset.
- My SIM on Motorola handset - connects to H+
- Another SIM on my Sony - momentarily connects, then disconnects and then does not connect to network.
Please let me know if anyone has faced similar issues and found any resolution. Thank you in advance.

I think that there's an option to use 2G instead of 3G in the settings menu, have you checked to see if that is enabled?

That is the WCDMA option I've mentioned about, there was no other setting for this.
Anyways, it turned out to be a hardware problem. Got the "mother-board" replaced for free as it was under warranty & now working fine!
