Hi there,
when my Kaiser is closed there is a gap between the Screen and the keyboard.
Not a big one its 1mm thick.
Is it normal or is it a sign that my sliding mechanism got broken?
and i wuld like to know if there is a way to fix it, or if someone knows a german repair service
Thanks
Mine has a gap but I don't know about a millimeter, how big is that again? As thick as this I? I think that if they where touching then it would create friction and after a while the plastics would grind and wear away.
I have mine about 5 months or so. It has a small gap on both sides of about 1 mm thick but it is still solid in place. I mean there is no friction or so. I think there is nothing to worry about exept when you can twist or move the screen when closed. Then I would check the sliding mechanism.

hi
I have a little problem. My kaiser just came back from service after a month, because of the broken screen.
I have noticed that the gap between the casing. Let me illustrate on a picture, the gap is in red color
http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/dpleja/htc-kaiser.jpg
ok, if i push the far left end of my kaiser, the gap is about 2mm
http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/dpleja/DSC04640.jpg
i thing that this gap was smaller before...how big is it on your kaiser?
Woah. That looks messy (I'm sorry to say!)...
The gap on mine is pretty equal along its length (maybe slightly wider (almost immeasurably so) toward the 'bottom') - but I'd say it's less than a millimetre all the way down its length.
...Certainly A LOT more flush than in your pic.
If you need me to I'll post a pic for you to use as ammunition when you kick ass about it...
Regards,
Rob.
mine is equal also along it's length, but because of the angle it doesn't look like that. Its 2mm across the whole phone. I still think its too much
Definitely something wrong there

There's definitely something wrong there. Mine is even all the way along and is about 0.6 mm. I'd be getting back in touch with the repairer/possibly the courier who delivered it back if there's any chance the damage happened in transit. They may claim additional parts are required (at more $$$/£££) to fix it though

Looks like when they were working on your phone, they either bent the rails or the mounting bracket that slides on the rails.
i have just made a video of the problem
check it here

How do you plan to progress this?

I believe you, I believe you! What more do you need to know, there's a problem with the phone if the gap is wildly uneven when sitting flat with no pressure on the device. What are the repairers saying and what are you going to do about it?
i have returned the phone, wee will see what the service guy will do with it.
Hello everyone.
I noticed my keyboard gets scratched, more on the right side, keys "del", "enter" and "ok".
Does anybody else have the same problem? I'm not using that keyboard a lot, so probably those who use it every day should get even worse results...
A friend of mine doesnt use it much too but got these scratches also...
i got one on the enter key. dont know where i got that one. maybe i got some little dirt whatever stuff in my pocket and it went into the x1 and when you slide it up it does that scratches :/
Holy crap what the heck do you do to your Xperia!!!!?
lol i use mine 24/7 and mine is like brand new except for the battery cover, had mine for a few months too

The most likely reason for this damage to the keyboard is using acetone or maybe even alcohol to clean the keyboard....

Again, I'm almost not using hard keyboard.
I usually keep the phone in front jeans pocket, looks like smth inside scratches it, but i dont wanna disassemble it to find out =)
not only is your x1 scratched but its dirty.
My one is worse!
I will upload some pictures later as I am off out today
What causes this
I use my phone alot but surely it shouldn't happen?

it is not dirty, i tried to remove that, but no luck - those are scratches!
I've got scratches on the windows key and the enter key
Never heard of or saw these types of scratches on the keyboard. Wow.
wash ur fingers before u use it
if u have dust or sand-like stuff on ur hand it will act as a sand paper
and apply less force when sliding ur phone apart
take care
Lol I would never touch your Xperia, it looks ****ing dirty Man, what are you doing with this phone?!? Gardening?
Obviously people don't know how to take care of their stuff. Word of advice, don't have kids.
hey, it looks like a "cracks in the case" case
Manufacturing defect
I don't know what you put in your pockets, but your X1 keyboard looks really dirty (especially with the wood piece under the blue key). I have some dust on my keyboard because it's in my left front jeans pocket the whole day, but this dust just goes away if I blow on the X1. If something don't goes away, use a dry soft tissue, or the humid tissues used to clean camera lenses.
the second pic clearly shows marks that clearly states that your x1 received torture dude, whether it be dropping or rubbing against something rough, it also shows something looking like dirt(mud) including dust on the board surface.
it looks as tho the phone fell many many times whilst the slide was out and possibly dragged on that surface on some kinda object
poetryrocksalot, i have 3 kids ages 6,5,3 lol, and my stuff are in tip top shape
scratches do not appear just like that, its impossible for scratches to appear out of the blue...in other words, your x1 clearly shows bad handling and money wasted on a device that deserves an owner who knows how to care their devices.
the only scratches im gettin is on the battery cover
my x1 got it too but just on the enter button... not as bad as yours but anyway... had mine for 6 or 7 months now... i think i know how the scratches get there and sorry for my swenglish... when i push the i dont know what to call it.. .lets call it the display to reveal the keyboard i put my thumbs on the bottom of the screen and push upwards but at the same time i push it slighty down and therefore i get the scratches try it and you will see how it touches the enter button...
I won't be able to sleep....... ever.......
So I know that the X1 is known for having cracks. And unfortunately my x1 is cracking as well.
I was wondering how badly your x1 cracked up. Did anyone's x1 actually crack up to the point that it's not usable?
I'm asking because to cut a long story short I either change to a new phone this winter or wait until summer. And I want to know how much longer my x1 can last.
Thanks for the feedback.
no mine one didn't crack to that point actually I think that it is impossible for it to crack to that point unless you drop it or throw it on purpose xD and only cracks around screws can be a problem because then that point isn't locked down propertly so it can easly fall apart if it cracks around two or more screws but that is impossible because the plastic is to thick around then xD
The thing is mine is cracked and the part where the camera button is seems to be splitting open, it's hard to explain but it's like there's a small gap where if you push the phone together will close the gap. The same thing is happening just below the volume buttons too. I'm worried that this gap may get bigger.
time will tell xD that plastic above the camera button can easely be removed and you'r one isn't secured so you can remove it and place it back again it will fit back better
Hi guys
just a quick question about the back of the captivates. When trying to lock in the metal battery cover, my metal cover does not sit flush with the back of the phone, the metal cover sticks out and I need apply pressure to press it down in order to slide up the plastic locking piece. Kinda curious if thats the case with all of the cappys or just mine? THANKS!
How much pressure? I have to kinda push it down but not hard at all, just kinda seat it in there.
when mine rests, its just a couple milimeters out... So yeah, i have to push it in to close it. But its not a considerable amount of pressure, its something a toddler could do . Once its closed though, its nice and snug

Agreed. It's supposed to take a little pressure to open it. If you're just talking about the aesthetic of the phone, I, personally, like the way it looks recessed. I like the metal back enough I hate to use a case that covers it.
I think it's designed to stick up a little for 2 reasons when unlocked.
1. it makes removing the back over a little easier since it is raised and you can place something under it to lift it out (typically your finger)
2. to apply pressure to the latch so it is not lose and does not rattle or make similar noises that bug/worry ppl.
It might also be a side effect to one of the connectors that ground the back cover, as the one on the left side is a pin with a spring underneath it.
Is anyone else's xz1 compact body bent or not straight?
I have had mind a couple of weeks and been super careful with it, so I don't think I bent it or something. I didn't notice until today when I set my phone down on a flat table as I was finicking with it when I noticed it rocked back and forth and wasn't perfectly flat to the table. It is particularly noticeable in the front side (I think part of this is due to the edges around the screen not being completely flush or evenly flat. The back does it much less, but I think that may because of the curved back on the back. After looking down the back side of the phone I realized it was clearly not straight and could see It curve.
Anyone with similar issues? Thanks!
The border around the camera lens is protuding a tiny bit from the back of the phone, to protect the lens from scratches.
The top and bottom edges of the phone are protruding to protect the screen from being scratched when placed face down.
Though it does not rock for me.
What sort of curve?
Mine doesn't rock when on its back, and I have a screen protector on the front which is slightly taller than the top and bottom metal caps, so it is also stable.
When I bought my phone in store, per procedure they had me inspect the phone for obvious damage or defects.
The first unit I got unfortunately had assembly issues with the top and bottom metal caps, there was a noticeable gap on both ends and they protruded unevenly. One end protruded to the front, and the other to the back.
At first they tried to play it off as non-issue, citing manufacturing tolerance, and refused to let me exchange a new one, but I insisted and eventually they agreed to give me another unit, which is the one I'm currently using.
Does your unit have similar unevenness with the metal caps? Maybe that's the cause of the instability. I do not perceive any curves on the body of my phone.

I didn't think about the camera, good point, that may be some of the issue when it's on its back. The rocking when it's on its back is mild, so it may be the camera lens ring. However, I can look down the phone close with my naked eye and notice the bend pretty easily.
I do realize the front 'metal caps' protrude a little to protect the screen, but as mhaha says below, those edges are not necessarily uneven. The top metal cap sticks out further, in general, than the bottom. Individually, if I run my finger down the cap edges on the face of the phone I think I can feel where they get closer/further from the screen in places (it is very slight, so maybe that one is more in my head). I also didn't notice the uneven gap edge until you said that, I can't really physically feel that one so I think it's a little less of an issue. But, yes, on the left side of my screen it's super snug up against the side bezel and on the right I can see a very slight gap, in comparison.
My phone rocks bad on its face/front , diagonally from the cameras corner to the corner opposite.
I have actually requested my return (I ordered mine online) and will very likely be sending it back. I am not sure ill get a replacement either, for now just the return.
Thank you both very much!

Yeah, my top metal cap isn't as in line as the bottom, now that I see that. Thanks very much! That would definitely contribute to a wobble on a flat surface.
But, there are still all the other issues I've noted, so I'm quite confident it's a number of issues contributing to it all.
Thanks!

The photo isn't quite a good descriptor of the problem though.
The photo suggests that it's just the way the metal end-caps are installed is what's causing the rocking.
If you run the link through a translator, the author states that the metal caps are misaligned because the plastic/glass-fiber body itself is warped.
So you may want to look at getting the phone replaced.
I dropped my phone on the road 2nd day of use. The metal edge got scratched, but the phone survived. The only other issue I noticed was twisted body. Looking from the edge, the twisted edge was easy to notice, and surface wobble was also there. I held the edges of the phone and put some pressure in opposite direction (trying to twist it back), and now my phone seems straight/aligned).
Please don't try this at home and come complain to me if something goes wrong. Since I dropped my phone, I couldn't just return it and get it replaced. Also not sure if the drop twisted it, or just pressure in my jeans pocket. Also not sure if the twist will come back. For now, the phone is fine.
I just bought XZ1 (not XZ1C) in UK, and having similar issue.
I'm not sure if the "cap" in misplaced or the whole body is twisted, but when I put the device face down, it rocks

Thanks for the further insight, I'm grateful! I will be returning the phone. I'm undecided on whether or not I would like to purchase another after. I kinda wanted to see how the future quality/reviews are more. Based on some with similar issues, I'm not sure ill be getting another, but I'll see I guess. Thanks again!

Thanks very much for your input! I appreciate it. The body twist and warp (these are better way to describe it, thanks, as the phone isn't so much curved/bent as it, or the single piece back/body specifically, is warped) is quite noticeable with the one I have too (looking at the edge like you said). However, I don't think I've dropped the phone (too hard at least and no visible scrathes, scrapes, etc.) I also keep a phone in a coat pocket, bag, or just take it out and set it down when I'm not out and about, so I don't think I would have caused the warp myself. Thanks again!
