I have recently installed Duttythroy 3g Comm Manger. After installing it did not work. It went to a black checkered screen with nothing on it. So I removed the program. Now when I select my Comm Manager icon it still pulls up this non working menu and I have no way to access my comm manager. Can someone please help?
Hard reset?
What ROM and radio are you using? Have you tried reinstalling a cab of your previous comm manager?
Did you make sure it wasn't running & then reset after installing???
use the advanced configuration tool (search for it in the Kaiser upgrading forum)

I have tested a few HTC Comm Managers(new black theme. Kaiser style) and low and behold non of them have the wifi working right. I cannot enable/disable it from the comm manager. Anybody find a real working one that does this? Even some that were claimed to be "FIXED" didn't work...
Anyone have a dump of the original also? (stock WM6)
I've got the same problem since the upgrade to WM6. Nothing works: soft-hard reset, upgrade... WLAN doesn't works (since comm manager).
me too...any solution mods?
Same problem here... The default WM6 HTC comm manager is working corectly.
anyone have a cab file of the original? incase i want to revert back to it?
You might find the fix here:

What's wrong with it?
I'd tried to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48832&d=1188607222
And then, the following message: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system p ermissions"
...
When I try to do the change in registry, a new surprise: in the registry tree, after CommManager doesn't exist "WLAN", but numbers (0,1,2,3... and in 3 there's WLAN). The change in registry: NOT WORK YET!
I've found the problem (maybe...). In folder "Connections" there's not Wi-Fi icon... what it means?

SAME THING HERE! No permission to do this! I hope this does not result in a hard reset.
OK, I finally got anew one installed. Even though I tried a fresh install after a reboot, I still couldnt get it installed. So, what I did was start commmanager, Bthen stop it in Settings > Memory > Active programs
REALLY A GENIE!!! I'll try it...
It's Ok! Now, I could installed the comm manager, but it doesn't work... What I must fix exactly?
This is exactly what I did:
- Step 1: Copy to the phone and run it.
- Step 2: (Fixing WLAN button malfunction, somehow it doesn’t work by default on Wing): **Thanks for beowulf6’s post for this fix.
Change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \HTC \CommManager \WLAN= "Windows WLanMgr.exe " "DeviceName" = "{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} TNETW12345"
the end of this long String is the WLAN-Adaptername of the Device.
just change in this Example "TNETW12345" into "TNETWLN1"
-Step 3: (Fixing Wi-Fi setting launch issue) **Thanks for phatman81’s post for this fix.
Change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\ Default:"
\Windows\WlanMgr.exe --> \Windows\ctlpnl.exe
After all this... The WLAN icon is always off...
Nobody else has the same problem? It's incredible!! I begin to think that I've done something wrong. It has began after the upgrade to WM6... Now, I can't downgrade to WM5 because I don't have the rom WM5 original... :'(
That CommManager dosen't seem to work well. I had problems with it. I found another one that DID work though.

hello
i have the same problem. wifi card not run.
the problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225
i d´nt know.
anyone a idea? thanks
Do a search. You will find that you have to edit the settings in the registry for the comm manager.
I have this same problem. If anybody has a cab file of the stock tmo com manager, please post it!
Thanks in advance!
You guys...
Go into the registry and find out what the name is for the wireless adapter is. Take that information and change the adapter that is shown in the comm manager.
Thats really all there is to it.
If youre going to screw with the software, youre going to need to blood on your hands. You cant just throw stuff on the phones and expect it to work.
All right...
On my wing
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\<DeviceName>
{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\TNETTWLN1
That is the adapter for my phone, might be the same for you.
If youre using the changable comm manager you will have to change the settings for the wlan setup.
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\<Default>
\Windows\WrlsMgr.exe
Once again might be different for you.
Im using TouchIT 2.3 my stuff might be different.
I GOT IT

I tried to install dutythroy_black-3g-comm-manager_.cab.fixed and I install it to the SC card. However when I tried to remove that software the Kaiser said that it was no able to remove it and do you want that it been removed from programs list...
Now my comm manager is corrupted and it shows only one choice in the upper left corner.
I already tried to run restorecom.reg but it didn't help. Any way to run original comm manager cab installation or do something else which helps me...
Also... I tried some other Latest cabs like task manager & windows live and both of these says that it hase been mentioned older windows mobile device?? Is this only warning not to be worried or did I something wrong?
Gotta raise this because I have a problem...
Plz... anybody could help me?
Anybody could make a copy what are original registry settings of Comm Manager... if that would help...
PeeHoo, why would you install a core function like the Comm Manager to the SD Card? That's asking for problems like you now have. Do a hard reset and try again.
Thx for wise answer!!
I did so!! But after I uninstall this dutythrow 3g comm manager. if you read my question more carefully you can read what I wrote... However there was mistake of written english (SC was mentioned SD) and word install should be I installed....
This hard reset answer is really nice... anybody really can help? I do know that HR help but I am trying to avoid that...
Unless you can write a cab, or bribe someone into doing, to reinstall the original skin, which I'm sure you copied before replacing right?, you're screwed.
This is where SPB Back up really helps!
You may not like the answers you get, but most of the people here won't lead you astray. Easiest way is to HR. You can try backing up now with SPB & then hard reset. The customazation cabs should replace & stick.
How do I restore the original comm manager? I tried installing shaps 10 button to get the 3g/edge toggle. At first the button was there, now there are only 9. Try to reinstall, says "unsuccessful - insufficient system permissions...
totally lost.
Please help if possible. I'm afraid I might have to do the hard reset. I haven't been able to get 3g since I did this. Two parter now:
1.) How do I get the original comm manager back?
2.) Is there a registry setting to enable/disble 3g so I can check that?
Thank you.
i had the same problem try soft reset and then do it again, because i installed some cabs and then the comm cab and it sayed the same thing, then i soft reset and it let me and said your device must be reset then it worked fine.
i am also having the same problem.... i have tried soft reseting and reinstalling the file but all that i am getting is the same message...
i have even tried using the restorecomm.reg file, but every time i browse to it and click on the file its always giving me a " no program associated message"
is there anyway to restore the original comm manager and still be able to install a new one?
you can use schap's advanced config tool to change the style and the buttons of the comm manager
your problem is that you have your comm manager running. Go to memory and then stop the comm manager form running. Then you can reinstall it.
I suggest getting Dutty's black comm manager. It has worked the best for me.

"Memory" is the name of a program on the System tab of the Settings screen.
is there anyway to completely delete the comm manager that is installed and just restore the original and start from scratch?

First when installing a new Comm manager make sure that it's not actively running. My suggestion. Soft reset your phone then install the comm manager of your choice. Hope this helps.

I was having the same problems. This solution worked!!!
i got the latest htc tm 2.1 installed to the device but there is a problem with the X button not showing up anymore.
a quick fix is to start the task manager service manually. this works but then reverts back to not showing after a soft reset.
the service shows up as being started automatically but apparently that is either false info from the fdcsoft taskmgr 3.1 tool or something else is fishy.
re-installing did not fix it. uninstalling reverts back to the older rom version, which does work.
this did work for me once before. since i did a hard reset and installed that same cab file, no longer works. weird...
any suggestions on how i can fix this? what registry entries do i need to edit?
ok nm, i fixed it by installing from a diff cab files. i'd del this post but can't figure out how...
Somehow I have put an altered Comm manager on my BA (as shown in the attatchment), i want to get rid of this 'skin' to the original htc one, the black/gray one, is there a cab or some way to uninstall this?
I think i put Iolite (xplodes) Comm Manager cab on it, how do i uninstall a cab?
if anyone can help will be really grateful, cheers!
Hi.
Did you try Advanced Configuration Tool ?
There's an setting to change the Comm Manager on ur phone!
how do i find this advanced config tool? is there a cab file?
i searched all 'settings' n could not find.
thx
Advanced Config > right button "Menu" > More settings > CommManager
thanks so much, I actually fixed this by installing a new comm manager cab file which was diamond skinned, and it now changed the theme, thank god! that theme did not suit my phone at all.
