I occasionaly have my Tilt displaying the hourglass (actually, the piegraph type colored graphic that effectivly is the hour glass for WM6), every 2-3 seconds.
I will go into the memory settings and see what programs are running..none. I open Memmaid, and go to processes, and there are several, but I don't see how I can tell which one is doing this.
A soft reset stops it.
Any ideas on how to figure out what's going on?
you should check your task manager and see if there are any programs running in the background or on start up...
Spb Pocket Plus Caused this problem for me......
Read this thread from Spb about this very issue.
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15644
I had the same problem and it turned out it was Spb Pocket Plus that was causing it. All I had to do was, un-check the advanced option "Refresh icons in today plug-in when storage card is inserted" and haven't had this problem since.
This may or may not solve your problem but it solved mine and apparently some others as well...

I had the same problem as the OP, and you are correct mchapman, it was SPB Pocket Plus. The problem was solved for me after unchecking the refresh icons settings, and also removing the storage card indicator from plugin.
Yep thats my thread over there.
I know for a fact that I got it the literal minute after installing the latest (2.0) version of Mobile Shell.
I had the whole package of SPB s/w installed for months and never had this problem.
The problem may be coming from Pocket Plus but it arose after upgrading to the latest version of mobile shell.
Thanks all. I'm giving it a try. I have not foudn the problem to be overly frequent, but annoying when it happens.
I just read the link from above over at SPB,and it seems that some folks in that link are not finding this to fix their problem.
I'll report back after a while with my results.

anyone know whats wrong?
You certainly have a few cabs installed there! Some of them still have a few bug issues if you search the Forum.
My advice is to backup your data, do a hard reset and then install your cabs one by one, using your phone for a few days between each to ensure all is OK and then you may find the culprit. I do know S2U2 has bug issues that are 'WIP'
It could be one cab or interaction between more than one causing your problem.
Hope this helps.

will try it out soon when i'm free, thanks alot mate
i find that the issues is with charing or wifi. happened a few times already. after charging the phone overnight, i wake up, turn on wifi and the whole thing just lags. applications like opening comm manager takes about 5 mins to open. every thing is affected, no choice but to soft reset the phone.
any others encountering the same issue?
I have a Kaiser too and the HTC Action Screen isn't working. Someone knows if there's a way to fix it?
I've installed SPB MS2 and P+ and the Kaiser Tweak.
Oddly, on my Today screen I get the rotating prism indicating a running application or booting application when there is none running or booting. It appears for a 1/2 second every few seconds. Even a soft reset doesn't fix it. Usually, if I shut the phone down overnight it is corrected when powered up in the am, but not this am.
I checked my memory and "running programs". Nothing there. I turned off my weather updater and my activesync.
What gives? Anyone?
aint nobody got any ideas here?
Hi,
Maybe you can try memmaid. It may help you to detect what's the problem.

DL'ed it and found the camera program operating in ghost mode but that did not eliminate the issue. Any other ideas from anyone?
I have a problem this sometimes and I think I have discovered that it is my SPB PocketPlus Today Plug-In.
I usually deselect the plug-in in the SPB pocketplus options and OK it, then turn it back on again and the problem stops.

Now this is interesting. I had not tried this. My PP is not enabled for my Today screen but my MS2 is (I have a PP tab for my MS2). I unchecked MS2 and the problem stopped. But, my touchscreen locked up so I had to soft reset. On restart the problem is gone. Re-selected the MS2 and issue is gone.
Thanks. I'll post it on the clubspb so that the company will figure out what the problem is.
I have upgraded my Tytn II with the WM6.1 rom from the HTC site.
Since then I've noticed a couple of hours after a soft reset the pie wheel indicating busy pops up every 5-10 sec. As far as I can tell there is nothing I have installed that should require it to be thinking.
The phone then behaves very sluggishly till I soft reset again.
I thought it was maybe activesync.
I downloaded "MemMaid" so I could see what might be going on and terminate activesync.
Still no joy.
Anyone else able to suggest anything for me to try?
Is your phone a tilt?
Do you have Spb Pocket Plus Installed?
Just wondering if you have Spb pocket plus installed? If so, the problem may very well be just that – Spb Pocket Plus. Change your settings. I think you navigate there by going to Start - Settings - System - Spb Pocket Plus. Under that, you will find the relevant setting(s) to change. Once there, disable the "Refresh icons in today plug-in-when storage card is inserted", under the advanced options. I think this may be causing your headaches. – SOFT RESET AFTER MAKING CHANGES and hopefully, the hourglass will be gone. I used this program once a few months back and the same thing happened to me. My fix was uninstalling the app, but that may not be an option for you.
~Gwen
P.S. Report back here and let me know if this works or not.
P.S.S. Also, try uninstalling those programs you mentioned before you had the issue, ONE BY ONE, followed by soft resets after each one and see if any of those may be the culprit.
Hey all,
On a couple occasions now, my Diamond (Telus CDMA) has refused to wake up from standby. After a soft reboot (by pressing the little button under the back cover) I can see that the battery has drained very quickly. The phone is also noticeably warmer than usual. Seems like it's getting stuck in some sort of processing loop and burning battery while it's at it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks,
-Michael
the same thing has happened to me twice! phone was fully charged last night, woke up this morning and battery had drained completely and turned itself off.
any ideas?
Did you have bluetooth on and visible?
Not at the time.
I've since purchased some bluetooth headphones and now have BT enabled, but I've not had this problem in a while.
i had that happen to me once too, never again tho.
I have a setting, which I do not know the purpose of, but I unchecked it.
Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items -> Time-Out of Today
(I have a dutch TD, so the translation may be not exactly correct).
Could it be that the TD is automatically reset by this setting?
Maybe it is also because ActiveSync became active and is draining the battery?
This is a tip from someone else:
DISABLE ACTIVESYNC NOTIFICATION
===============================
When I start up the Touch, ActiveSync is running. I stop it, but sooner or later it will show up in the Tasks running again.
I did the ActiveSync Fake server Trick(Fake IP, Set schedules to Manual, etc..), but that didn't help.
Here is the Fix:
In the windows/activesync directory there is a file called “CtrlLog” file, in the file I noticed that at certain times it would say “KeepAwake” so I knew there had to be something trying to keep ActiveSync running.
I download an app called “Task Manager by FdcSoft”, cool little app for Free, it showed me all the processes running in the background. The one that caught my eye is a process called “repllog.exe”, because it had an ActiveSync icon next to it.
So just messing around with “Task Manager” I went to “Notifications” and noticed there were three “repllog.exe” in the notifications list towards the bottom. After disabling and enabling “repllog.exe” one by one, I believe the one that is causing ActiveSync to keep restarting itself is the “repllog.exe” that has an Argument named AppRunAfterTimeChange(must scroll to the right to see it). So I disabled that particular “repllog.exe” and did a Soft Reset.
I no longer see ActiveSync in the Task Manager list unless I connect to the PC using a USB cable.

I used also asynckiller, but that did not work for me.
Still Async came sometimes active and asynckiller did not stop this one.
No I do not use asynckiller anymore, but disabled the one mentioned in my previous post and the problems have not appeared again.
Hi guys, I have had my Xperia a few days now, it's a Vodafone that I hae flashed the Generic UK software to (without HardSPL) it seems to work ok but I am having a few problems. First of all, whether or not the phone will boot is hit and miss, it will get to the today screen and lock up as soon as the clock on the today screen loads. Hitting the reset switch under the cover will reboot it and it will generally boot fine, usually on every second boot.
Another problem I have is that Shell32.exe crashes a lot as does explorer.exe Shell32.exe seems to crash when installing and uninstalling applications, it does not always happen but it's happened a few times so far and is becoming irritating.
I am going to reinstall the firmware image and leave it a day or two without installing any apps to see if the problem is resolved. If anyone has any posible ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Edit: I have renamed thread to remove the reference to boot problem with memory card inserted because after having removed the memory card the problem still persists so I gues it's unrelated.
Shell32.exe error
I also am having issue with shell32.exe crashing, the problem is repeatable everytime I go into the today screen options, as soon as I exit, regardles of which panel I went in from, shell32,exe crashes and I have to reboot the phone. Sometimes the only way to do so is to remove the battery. Any changes that I have made in the today screen do show up after the reboot. This is really annoying me now as shell32.exe is an important system process. Any thoughts, or shall I just hard reset.
R2AA
I'd make sure you're updated to the GENERIC UK R2AA ROM, if you're already on it, get a new copy of it from here, reformat your mem card and flash the phone again.
I seem to be OK now and not getting the shell32.exe crash anymore. Still having various other problems with it stopping responding (barely anything installed, and nothing really running) but not much more I can do, just learning to deal with it because i can't do with the stress of worrying about it. It's Windows, so expect it to suck.
i was on my R1A, had this problem, Hard reset it and the problem still exist...
Upgraded to the official R2AA10 and guess what? the problem is still there....
What is it that actually causing this problem? im planning on selling my X1 because this problem is so irritating....
Strange

Strangely, I stoppped having this problem a long time ago. I ran on R2A and R3A for a long time without any trouble now, I think it was due to a common program we were having installed because I use different programs than I used to and I havn't seen it happen since I last posted about having the problem.
Stick with a fresh install and see how it goes, install your apps slowly until it doesn't happen anymore.
I can't remember the exact programs I used to use but I have a feeling it was related to homescreen plugins or some such.
Let me know what programs you use maybe we can find a common denominator.

Okay, so after hard reset, i always install my program again one by one...
Strangely, the error always happen the FIRST time i install any program that uses today plugin...at first i thought it was SPB Wireless, then after another hard reset i installed Beejive, and the same error occurs...
Now mine is a little bit stable, mainly because i dont touch the today setting anymore....i (forcefully, despite the error ) installed Pocket digital clock, SPB Pocket Plus, and SPB wireless....
Its been fine for the last 2 days...without touching any of the today settings...
What is it that actually causing the problem? so strange....

Well, I never used SPB wireless when i had that problem, but i did use Beejive, Vito Sound Explorer (has a today plugin) HomeScreen++ and Wisbar Advance Desktop (saw a few crashes with this). Saw the problems a lot back then.
When I only ran Homescreen++ I never saw the problem.
I am running 6.5 now so i can't test it for you I'm afraid to find the exact problem, but I'd certainly keep hold of your Xperia because it's definately just caused by a 3rd party app/plugin.

the weird thing is, i ran all my program above for about 4 months on my R1A and no problem occurred....everything was good.
Then i tried to install SPB phone suite, but the installation stopped at 3/4 because the software wasnt signed or something like that (strange, i got it from SPB site), and it just left me some today plugin but withoun any name...it was blank....my today plugin order was in a mess too...i soft reset, it was okay....but i soft reset it again later that day and thats when the problem happened...
I found it strange that it still happens after hard reset and even after Rom change...especially to ANY program that uses today plugin....weird...
Try using R2A_10 or later, I never had any problems from then on, I'm running gtrabs R3A/6.5 atm, although it hasa bunch oof problemsof its own.
