Problem with GPS - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
this last week I have problems with the GPS. This only captured one/two signals and the quickgps was actuality (6days 23 hours). If I updated the quickgps then it worked very good with 8/10 signals the first time that used tomtom.
But turn off and turn on the tomtom then it didn't work until updated the quickgps.
Please can anyone help me?
Sorry for my bad english.
Regards

umm i tried to understand the best i can....
but r u saying that it does work well when u run quickgps or not?

It works well just the first time when I update quickgps. After close tomtom and reopen it, the GPS onlyu capture one signal and don't work.
If I close tomtom and update again quickgps then works once but if don't update quickgps then don't work well.
This is like after use once tomtom then I dont have quickgps ...

I usually run quickgps if I start TomTom from different locations, although it shouldn't be necessary, I just do it cause i hate not getting a fix.
Anyhow, what other gps applications do you have on your device? gpstest, gpsrouter????

GPS not working.

Hello,
I am trying to help a friend with a Kaiser and wants his iGo working in it.
Everything seems ok, iGo starts but after some seconds it shuts down. I tried to change GPS port and everything else I could thought but problem persists. Any advice?

Did you try Tomtom before iGo? I have the same issue with google maps. It will seek sats and give up saying no gps signal. But if I run tomtom and then start gmaps it works fine (inside buildings). I would suggest you open iGO outside and check it out. Are you using COM4?
Will check... now he is travelling (Poland) but will call me when he came back.
I did not tried TOM TOM...
find a free program called GPS Test. Set it to Com 4 / 4800. Much smaller than TomTom and certainly an app that's worth keeping on it.

the issue is that the internal GPS on the Kaiser needs to be "jump started" there a few apps that do this a free one that is also good is GPSViewer and the others mentioned above. I use TomTom well since it came with my Kaiser and with all that Damn Program memory who the hell cares if I use 10MB to install TomTom and a Map
I have never had problems with starting my GPS. I did a quick fix once and have used it with first Google maps (no problem) then Pocketstreets (again no issue) and finally Tom Tom.
I have never had to wait more than 20 seconds or so for a fix. Make sure you are outside before starting the application though.

qu. | GPS update rate problem

Hello,
Anyone about any problem with the internal GPS in the TILT ???
I found that the GPS update every 2 seconds (2 quick updates every 2 seconds).
I have holux GPS that update 1 time every 1 second.
So this is a problem with the internat GPS ???
thnx
Hi beonfocus,
I think this is not normal behaviour. I have an unbranded Kaiser (german version) and my GPS updates every 1 second. Are you sure it's the GPS receiver itself or is it maybe the software you checked with (only an idea...)? I checked my updating frequency with TomTom and GPS-Dash.
HansOlo
i check it
i checked it with 2 navigation softwares.
can you tell how to check it again ?
thnx

I only used the two mentioned programs and looked in the sattelite view how fast the signal updates.
There are other small programs like HTC GPS Tool, GPS Test or GPS Viewer which can be found in this forum.
I never tried them myself because I never had GPS problems until now, so I have no idea if they are useful.
If you have problems finding one of these PM me, I can send HTC GPS tool to you as I stored it on my hard disk.

The Kaisers in Asia come bundled with Mapking but I also have Garmin XT on mine. From my limited experience at least, Mapking is slow to update, while Garmin updates quite speedily.

Gps problems

I finally upgraded to the long anticipated windows 6.1 rom for tilt. And now im having issues with my gps. I have tomtom6 and gps today for faster identifying my position. But since I upgraded, now when I turn on gps today and even tomtom it cant get my position anymore. When I checked tomtom satellite finder, it found some satellites but it never turned blue when the gps is locked. I need help to get my gps working again. Any help would be great.
I had this problem too after i upgraded to 6.1. Some people suggested to install GPS Test. It's a very simple but effective tool for acquiring a GPS fix. Whenever im not getting a fix i start this tool and normally it gets me a fix within 1 - 2 minutes. After this, as long as you dont soft reset your device, all your GPS programs should get a fix immediately.

Thanks! ill give it a try and ill update ASAP
Unfortenatly, aGPS is not activated by default. Search for the program called Advanced Cofiguration, and install that. There you can activate aGPS - and after that, you will normally get a gps link within 5-10 seconds...
i checked and gps is enabled

Diamond GPS Issues

Recently I updated to the SwiftBL 7.0 Full 16PP. As I start TomTom 7.450 I says it has a gps device and then it says it has lost is gps signal.
After 15 seconds it updates it's gps location and tells me again it has lost it's gps location.
Then I close TomTom and start QuickGPS and update it (it is still valid for 6 days and more). After this update there is no problem with Tomtom anymore.
This updating I have to do every time I want to use Tomtom.
I'm just sitting in the car and not in the bathroom, so the gps is not the problem. I'm having this problem for a week now.
Does somebody else have this problem too? Is there a solution?

Try holding it up next to the window or use an in-car cradle. This has happened to me when I hold it next to my lap in the car I cant even get a fix. When I hold it next to the window I get a highly accurate fix.
I have a cradle stuck on the window. Before (for 3 months) I did not have a problem.
Or my hardware is braking down or there might be a issue with the ROM. Also f*ckup on my part is possible ofcourse.
But I wanted to know if I was the only one that had this problem. Until now I think I am.
i have gps problem too but i think using htc tools solve it for me so far...use the clear memory option together with nav init and wait for mode 2d fix.Try tis to see if its work?
Please mention which radio version your are using. Please update your radio to Radio v1.00.25.07. This is the best version for the GPS

I have the same problem.
My solution : soft-reset my device.
I'll try another solution : disable the A-GPS.
If anybody has another solution...
(I don't want to change my radio because of the warranty)
A-GPS
I had that same problem with iGO. Disabling A-GPS did the trick.
Likewise with Tomtom. A-GPS is the guilty party.
Having the same problem in Igo 8. The problem is that the program looses the GPS in 5-15 seconds all the time. Igo sais that it is loosing not the signal but it losses the GPS module. The only cure i found is a hard reset or going into flight mode. In flight mode the GPS works perfectly. Tested on 2 Diamonds. Any suggestions except flashing the radio??

100% A-GPS thing
Disable it whit Advance Config
Thats weird I got my XDA Ignito yesterday, put tomtom 7.450, in advance config it had a-gps disabled, but TomTom would not pick up anything.
I thought I try to enable it and it suddenly started working and it was working indoors too.
Thanks for all the info.

Yes! Exactly! I have seen same problem as topic starter. Also If I check "GPS status" by TomTom menu, it always lost and found GPS device every 5-10 sec. Only one think helps - start Google maps app, enable GPS, then Google map quickly found satellite I start TomTom and TomTom work fine till closing.
After disabling A-Gps, now TomTom work perfectly.

How to Test Xperia GPS?

Hi,
I bought my Xperia 1 day ago, it's really good device. But I'm having some problems with GPS. Google maps starts to scanning for satellites for ages and never stops. I also tried the "Chartcross Gps Test" program and it finds the gps but it's always on "GPS Starting up" status.
Does anybody nows how to test it ? Or if there is something that i have to enable first? (all the configs are default - like in a hard reset)
It should work straight out the box. Try the quick GPS download in the Programs>tools folder. Downloads the locations of the satalites for the next week to the phone. Since using this, tomtom7 can find my loction in seconds (literrally)
Have you been trying it inside a building? In that case it won't work. I had the same thing with the GPS. In a building there is no connection to satelites, works perfectly though outside and from within a car.
Tomorrow I try google maps.
However I use tomtom. Befor all download effimeral with quick gps.
First of Xperia I have a Polaris. Xperia gps is much better than polaris. And polaris has a very good gps....
Tomtom7
Where did u get the Tomtom7 software for the xperia. A friend of my using his tomtom device and it works really fine! So on my X1 it would be really great if i can use it too!
I don't rememder now, but you can use Diamond tt7. It work fine.
ah thank you! but i can't find the file. could you post me the link for download pls
To test GPS use GPS Test from ChartCross. It's a great, free utility.
http://www.chartcross.co.uk/products/WM00002_details.asp
thank you! ....
Now it's working fine. I have to test it with tomtom later, but with google maps is Ok now. I followed buckle247 and Dryw Filtiarn tips. Now it finds the satellites very quick.
Just one question, google maps requires internet connection and how about TomTom?
One thing that i noticed is that the GPS sometimes doesn't "turn on", because either Chartcross or GoogleMaps can't find the GPS device, however if i turn off and turn on Xperia it finds. Is it normal?
kotarou TomTom doesn't need to run over GPRS as the maps are all stored on the Memory Card, however if you subscribe to traffic data then that will need a GPRS connection.
Also every so often I get the "No GPS Device" sometimes just leaving the phone for a minute makes it appear, other times a soft reset.
Cannot install GpsTest
Hi, I tried to install GpsTest on Windows Vista, but it doesn't work, since GpsTest installer requires ActiveSync. But Activesync refuses to install on Windows Vista, because there is another SmartPhone software.
Does anyone know another versione of GpsTest, compatible with Vista, or a version installable directly on the X1?
Thanx!

Found a fix
If your 3G data is switched off, then you won't be charged for anything. GPS won't charge you as it is tracking signals from satellites, much like a Sat Nav.
