I have broken the screen on my tilt, and, as of last week I am homeless, trying to find a job here in colorado springs. I can't really call anyone without having a screen so i was wondering if anyone had a screen they could donate until I get back up on my feet. I will be able to pay whomever back as soon as I get paid a couple of times. I'm not asking for your sympathy, I just want a ****ing screen i miss my kaiser!!!I feel like an ass for asking, but hey, i gotta do what I gotta do, right? Thanks in advance.
This sucks
I just broke my screen today to, bull****. I am a broke ass college kid to, so I understand the money thing. The best bet in terms of actual paying for a screen is buying one of ebay. The cheapest I've found is $69.99 plus S+H. It comes with instructions too and if you mechanically inclined whatsoever it might be worth a shot. I'm ordering my screen tonight after I give the cash to my buddy so I can use his credit card.
Best of Luck
Thanks for the reply man. I just imagined myself getting flamed to death for posting this, but I'm pretty desperate at this point. Good luck to you too. I've taken apart many a phones, so the installation isn't my problem, attaining the screen is lol. Damn, someone's gotta have a broke tilt layin around with a good screen. I just need a front for a couple of weeks, then I can pay 'em back for it.

That might sound like a dumb question, but I could swear that's what happened to me. I was at my friend's Fourth of July party last night, and the screen on my Kaiser broke. But the thing is I have absolutely no idea how it happened, because it was in my pocket and I was standing. One minute it was fine, and the next minute I took it out of my pocket to find that the screen was destroyed. The only thing I can think of is that I was playing pool at the time, and maybe I leaned against the table, but I don't even remember doing that. And I know for a fact that I didn't bump hard into anything. This is just so mind-boggling to me.

i know alot of people walk around with their screen oriented in a way that the screen faces the environment. I personally keep all my phones and devices with screen facing my leg/body.
perhaps you walked into something like a truck tailgate or the corner of a desk or table?

That's what I was thinking the most likely scenario is, but I just don't remember that happening. I was just wondering if a crystal could have burst or something strange like that, but who knows, maybe I did bump into something and somehow didn't notice it.
The touch screen is very easy to destroy. I broke mine once about 6 months ago and it was not fun spending an hour taking it apart to replace the screen with a new one. By the way, good luck finding torx wrenches small enough for the inner screws, I had to use a 1.25 mm flathead screwdriver and rig it into the screws to undo them.

Where did you find those wrenches then? And, more importantly, where the hell did you find a replacement touch screen?

wow, nice find!
So how hard is it to replace a screen for someone who's never done it before? And how much is $50 compared to how much you spent frosted?
check the wiki's for the instructions. should have a manual to take the kaiser apart.
i've never done it myself. i've just heard from my friend that he bought his on ebay for $100 a year ago. the deal guy posted looked good cuz it includes tools.
This is the screen I bought although it was regular price, $39.99 but on sale now for 29.99 with both torx wrenchs, and pry tools, although you still need a philips screen driver, any glasses screw driver will work for the philips driver. Pretty fast shipping also, I used the slowest one, low on money, and it came within a few days.
YouTube Video For changing screen.
I have replace my display today and works fine 50Usd. Change the display is easy look the istruction and do it very slow and calm....no coffee

Good lucky
I have a Nexus One... and this is my 3rd swap. The phone I have now has a slightly more pink tinted screen than any other one I've seen. I ordered my 3rd swap, and it just came to my door. I opened it up... only to discover this one has a one spec of dust under the screen!
Why am I being sent defective or damaged units? Should I keep doing swaps until I get one that's normal? What do you guys think?
This is my 3rd swap, so I am pretty pissed.
I can understand being picky about a product that you just shelled out $500 for. It sounds like its nagging you already and if you keep it, it will just continue to nag.
Like an itch you can't scratch.
Sounds like you need to send back until your satisfied. However, dont be surprised if HTC gives you a more difficult response each time you swap.
Hell yeah. why can't they just send me a new one or a Refurb thats FULLY TESTED. How stupid do you have to be to not a dust under the screen!? All you have to do is look...

damn i feel ur pain!
just ordered a phone to norway for my gf, hope to god nothing is wrong with it. will be a PITA to send it back etc...
*goes down on his knees and prays for an ok phone*
I'm going to keep swapping until I get one thats normal. $570 should not be wasted on a device that can't even pass DUST INSPECTION. I'm actually sending back the swap I just got, and the rep said he will send me another after that one arrives to them. Another 1 week of waiting for a phone that might also have issues.
HTC, BRING IT ON! I have 3 months of summer vacation. I will keep swapping.
I swapped five (5) TP2s on sprint, the first of which was bought new without rebates. eventually the hard keyboard just quit working entirely. every swap I got back was an obvious refurb. squishy keys, keys that didn't work, rough slider, etc.
htc has no problem collecting five hundred bucks a year or so from me, but refuses to stand behind their products. it's unfortunate, but my fault for continuing to support them. too bad the other manufacturers are so far behind for android and winmo phones..
I also did a swap for different phone because i had the dust under the screen issue. I received the replacement, but did notice 1 spec of dust under this one too. I didnt let it bother me, but maybe I should. From shelling out $530 for a phone, i guess we should expect something that should be "perfect" before leaving the factory.

One spec of dust? Seriously? Man, you're anal haha
How the hell can you see 1 spec of dust anyhow??
Anyway, get a microfiber cloth and wipe it down. You'd be surprised at how things look like they're under the screen, when they're really not.
If that doesn't help, no I don't think you should keep sending it back. As the previous person mentioned, it's like an itch you can't scratch; you'll always find something wrong. Get an Evo or Incredible if you can switch carriers. Otherwise, get a Backflip?
That one spec gets annoying.
So do you have microscopes for eyes or what?
Ok here's the test: give the phone to a friend/family member/etc and tell them, "Inspect my phone; do you see anything wrong?"
If they can get the spec of dust without you saying anything, send it back. If they can't, just enjoy man. If it gets worse, then send it back. Remember, you have 365 days to replace it!
Yea, especially in the browser, when its all white, the dust is all black. I'm just anal about a $600 device being untested during QA. I guess I'll be keeping the one with the pink screen tint instead. Might swap after though. Again.
Edited:
I'm getting the phone repaired through Clean Planet Repair (iphonerepair.com).
I had some problems with them the first time I sent it in, but the manager(?) contacted me and we came to a pretty reasonable solution.
That repairs in progress, so, if your HD7 is cracked there's a place that will have done at least *one* HD7 repair there...

Anyone know where to get this done?
I bought a cracked HD7 and can't find anyone who actually knows how to fix it.
Note:
I bought the phone because "Clean Planet Repair" at iphonerepair.com advertised a $99.99 repair and that seemed like a good deal. I mailed the phone there and they called me to say there was a 50-50 chance they'd break the LCD and I'd have to pay an extra $100 to have that fixed (part + labor) as well. They seemed annoyed that I had a problem with this.
On the site you read these great testimonials like "Trust this place, they stand by their promise." Quite a business model. I would not recommend them.

$100 to fix a screen (replace it) is a good deal, please get it done, as HTC will charge u more for sure..
I'm sure its the same deal as the hd2, you can replace just the lcd, but usually will damage the digitizer in the process so it's easier to replace both pieces together.
Good Luck
Post removed; update in first post.
ugh. This is what I'm most worried about happening to mine. I wish it was made of gorilla glass. Maybe I should have gotten the protection plan after all..
How do you guys crack your screen so fast? i had the HD2 since March and never even got a scratch, never used a case just put it in my pocket always... even droped it twice..
My hd7 is still flawless with no case..
hi all,
i got a bargin latly and have now got a note but the main donside to this is that is has a chip/crack on the edge of the screen near the menu button.
i need to know anyone oppinion if i can get away with just repacing the digitizer or wil i have to repace the full lcd aswell, im really low on cash now but iv been checking ebay and heres what i found
digitizer - £8.95/$13.89
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-White-Digitizer-lens-Glass-Screen-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-i9220-N7000-/300733099033?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460516ec19
full lcd + digitizer - £118.04/$138.24
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LCD-Touch-Digitizer-Screen-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-GT-N7000-i9220-white-/221002976265?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3374cdcc09
iv added the pics bellow and would love feedback to see what is the best situation for me. my so called local samsung repair centre who carnt even fix phones propperly (feedback from alot of people with broken screens) said that i have to replace it all and they quoted me £180.
please let me know guys
Ive seen worse
A simple digitizer replacement should suffice, theres numerous how to videos on you tube.
Just take your time and do not rush it, Also, Dont skimp on the price, If you get a cheap aftermarket digitizer, the performance might not be as good as a genuine one.
Finally, once you get it fixed, There is an app that can tune the sensitivity so you can get it perfect I think its called screentuner im not sure, google it !

thanks man really appreciate your help i didnt realise if i got a cheaper one would make it work crap. how much would you say to speand roughly?
btw i kno it isnt the worst but i ike my phone to be in mint condition especialy as i get bored very easy then it ends up in the mp withing 2 months lol
im not saying buy a really expensive one and get ripped off, I just mean dont buy one made from cheap parts, Like a chinese one.
If you could afford it, Buy genuine, If you cant, buy a recommended one, Check the sellers feedback and scour the internet for recommendations, There may even be some in the accessories section
EDIT: Im unsure whether the amoled screen is an all in one screen, Meaning the screen also recognises the touch and there is no digitizer, Does your phone respond to touch ?
Look at this i found on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Outer-Len...arts_Tools&hash=item20c7b38727#ht_2782wt_1037 It is just the outer glass screen, So if you get this, It wont affect the touch response :good:
I understand that it would affect the sale price, but be careful as I've found the most difficult thing to do is to separate the digitizer from the LCD screen without patience. The safest route would be to get the Digitizer + LCD costs, but ofc it costs ridiculously higher than just the digitizer.
For howto videos, search for "Galaxy Note Disassembly" on YouTube.
Yeah +1
Upon some more searching it seems like a really tricky job, Some say impossible, The choice is yours really, Try it and hopefully save your self some money, Or take the hit and get the whole package - Screen, Glass, digitizer ect.
You could also look at some sort of glass crack repair kit, Like they do on car windscreens, Its only a little crack where the soft keys are so its not disrupting the view of the screen, And it might just save some £££ and a lot of hassle too
again thanks guys,
the thing is all aspects of the screen are fully functioning. it did get it at a very good price i will admit it was cheap but it was only because it was too big for the women who had it previous and cex offered her £190 but wouldnt take it because o the crack!
im all for making sure my device look good i know you can say it doesnt ook bad but its just if it was cheap enough to fix i will do it. or if i end up putting it in the MP in a few weeks when i bored it can either buy and throw in the digitizer or the full pakage.
over than that this is why i posted iv never dont it before and iv sceen my mate do his galaxy s1 but thats it lol

I had no idea of this when I bought it on launch day!! Just my luck, it pops up 3 days after I purchased it!! I actually thought of returning it for a while... I wanna know how the heck am I gonna get the screen replaced if I crack it?! How much will it cost?!?! This is crazy, but it's the price of a phone as beautiful as this, I guess.
I guess this can kind of be a measure of how durable it is? If it's this hard to take it apart intentionally, imagine how hard it is to do it on accident? I guess this eliminates the chances of me ever using it without a case:crying:
LOL i was looking round because id been offered one cheepish that needed repair
Not now
Just look at replacing the battery
One word...

Meh, they ducked up the teardown. I'm not saying it's easy, but I'm sure there's a technique.
