Hi, i am very new to this game. However I have managed to unlock the sim, what I would like to do now is either flash the original HTC rom or Duttys. My question is do I have to flash a specific radio first or just flash. My current radio is 1 27 12 32 and I have hard spl installed.
Thanks

if you are flashing the original HTC rom that radio should be fine. However, if you flash dutty's rom's you need a radio that is compatiable with 6.1roms. search the forum or the thread that is associated with the rom you want to flash.
If the Radio you have is not compatable with the ROM you are using (very common on the latest ROM/radio releases) the OS will probably refuse to boot.
If this is the case, just load the bootloader screen and flash a compatable radio.
Most chefs lift the compatable radios in the 1st post.

Ey up...
I installed the nothrills ROM over my T-Mobile default one. I didn't even think about radio. It seems to work fine. Do I need to worry about this?
No, but you might get better reception/battery life with a more compatible radio
... am I right in thinking the Nothrills ROM changes the radio too? It seems to say it does on the forum page. Sorry for asking, but I'm not clued up at all about this kind of thing.

That's what it looks like.
If you look in "Device Information" you can see the versions you are running.
If it matches the first post then you flashed the radio.
Dave
Yep, it's flashed that too. Thanks for such a quick answer.

Okay I am a newbie and I installed the Mr Clean rom which is fine but how would I install the previous rom I had witch was the one from the HTC website? Basically all I am tring to do is change my splash screen and I have no idea how but I want the old rom but it doesn't seem to want to let me roll it back.
OK newbie, try searching the forum for your solutions first - you will be surprised what you might find. This took me less than a minute to locate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52768
Basicly Faria has put together a bunch of different splash screens which will install in exactly the same fashion as a new ROM would. As it only loads a new slpash screen you will not lose any data. You will also be able to keep the Mr. Clean ROM but have a different splash screen. There are at least 2 HTC splashes listed and the one that I had a quick look at has a preview so you can see which one you prefare before you do the install.
Enjoy...
But is it possible to go back to an older/different rom once you install Mr Clean rom? I currently have a K-jam running the lattest rom, and was thinking about trying Mr Clean rom just to see how it behaves. The only think stopping me is what if I don't like it! Would it be possible to revert back to my current rom?
Can't see any reason why it shouldn't work. As far as I know none of the home cooked ROMs available on the forum have a function that does a compare between the existing and intended ROM versions and prevents any downgrading.
As to whether you will like the newer version, it is hard to see why you wouldn't. Mr Clean's version is spot on if you want the latest OS, the best Radio ROM and a very light extended ROM and with you changing your splash screen to one you like you should be sorted. All you need is to install whatever cab files you need for performance tweaks or network settings.

Well it doesn't! :S Once you use Mr Clean rom you can not go back to the official Kjam rom! My only problem with the Mr Clean rom is that there is somewhat increased consumption compared to the rom I had before! Oh well! I guess I'll just have to get used to it!

Why can't you go back? I've run every ROM sumitter has released. Over the weekend I installed the Mr. Clean ROM . Put on the PDA Mobiz version yesterday. I just went back to the original Cingular 1.08 successfully this morning to double-check this response. IPL, SPL, GSM and OS reflecting changes each time. Now I'm going "back" to sumitter's test2. If you unlocked you SID/sim initially you shouldn't have any problems regarding this. faria documented the procedure back in April.
(yes I love flashing my phone)
I can't believe that the Kjam is that different.....

Well I must have done something wrong then as my SPL is stack at 2.24! I can use the downgrade rom but then can not upgrage to anything but mr clean!

First you need to download and install Button's 1.05 at ftp://xda:[email protected]__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe . Make sure to allow the extended ROM's to execute. All problems solved as Pinhead said.

Kinda new here, so if this is an easy one, please dont flame me.
I've been reading about flashing to an HTC ROM, and want to get rid of the AT&T ROM I currently have.
However, I saw someone say "Be careful about the radio ROM" in a post somewhere (in one of the 47,192 that I've read today...)
I currently have radio ROM 1.27.12.11 - can I flash the radio to any other version to accomodate a different ROM? If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a US user so that I can use an HTC ROM?
Please let me know...I'm really confused by all of this stuff.....
Thanks.
- M
nothing will happen if you do everything right...theres a radio thread that lists every radio in the rom section....check it out
Just make sure if you flash to a WM6.1 Rom to flash to a 6.1 Radio. Have a look on the Kaiser Radio Wiki page. it should tell you which are for which, there is also a sticky in the Kaiser Rom Development forum that has a link to a thread all about Radio's.
If you flash to the wrong Radio, you may have trouble with no sound or wierd camera problems, dont worry, just flash to another radio 'til it all works again.
Thanks,
Dave
One more quick question about flashing ROMs....

One of these days, I'll learn to THINK before I flap my jaws.
Thanks again to all!!!
Two things to mention here off past experience. Firstly some of the radio downloads also contain OS roms for the phone, so if you want to only flash the radio then look around. As a guide a full rom with OS is around 55-60 mb as a download. A radio only rom is less than 10.
Secondly some of the beta 6.1 window OS will only work with a wm6 radio for example schap's 4.31.
There's a member called Alltheway who has all of these.
Hi!
After installing the HTC Toupad on my Kaiser, I have experienced big problems. Letters on the Keyboard (QWASYX) didn't work and even the onscreen keyboard didn't recognized these letters. So I decided to uninstall the application. But now I have other problems with my Kaiser and so I decided to Hardreset my device. But before I do this, I want to upgrade my Kaiser to WM6.1 and update it to the newest ROM/Radio.
Now I have some questions relating to that.
As a result that I am a Super Moderator in another forum I know that it is bugging if people don't read the Wiki/FAQs. I have read them, but I don't understand many things :-|
I have handled it to unlock my device, but when I was reading about updating to WM6.1, I saw only things like: "... works only with 6.1", update this, update that, and I don't know in which order.
First of all: Could anyone explain me how to update my Kaiser to WM6.1 and the newest Radio?
Secondly: What is this Duty FW? Is it a modified Rom with added apps?
Finally: I have a normal Kaiser. Not a Vario III, AT&T or something like that. Just the austrian version of the Kaiser with no brandings and so it would be good to have a Firmware without any brandings.
Thx in advance.
BTW:
ROM version: 1.56.405.5
Radio version: 1.27.12.11
Oh, I have forgotten one thing: Is it possible to change the LED blinking in the Phone Mode? To change it from green to blue?
The letter problem you were having was a simple fix with a cab that can be found all across this forum. All the ROM's can be found in the ROM Development forum and as far as what has been changed, modified, added, programs list, can all be found in the FIRST or SECOND post of each of the ROM's. So you will just have to read through them and find one that suits you best as they all have something different. Most of the radio's that can only be used on 6.1 ROM's will say "Will only work on 6.1 ROM's". And I would like to add even though you don't have at&t DON'T FLASH THE 1.65.17.10 RADIO.

You need to make sure before you flash a rom on to your kaiser that you flash hardspl - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679, and than after successfully installing that you can flash the rom of your choice. Please read the first sticky thread under the kiaser rom development form - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282; it has all the info you need pretaining to everything involved when it comes to flashing your kaiser. I strongly recommend you go through it and read the posts it points to that are relevant to flashing.
Once you have done that it is pretty simple process; just do yourself the huge favor and don't flash until you have flashed hardspl or you will brick your phone.
If its still a mystery I would start here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
No pun intended.
@thesire
I have already installed HardSPL. Otherwise I couldn't have unlocked my device with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039
I have used just the Sim Unlocker Method. Not the Kaiser SIM/CID Unlocker & Changer
That's the reason, why my mobile phone is now with an english language
Just one important question: Do I have to change my current radio for the new Duty Release?
@KDKobes
Why shouldn't I flash THE 1.65.17.10 RADIO?
Some ROM's come with radio's some don't. Most of Dutty's ROM's come with radio's, but if you want to keep your radio then I would suggest finding a ROM without a radio in it or making sure yours is compatible with the WM 6.1 and reflash it back. The 1.65.17.10 radio will lock your phone to that radio only and you will not be able to change it until somebody can fix it. Alot of people are stuck with that radio now and can't change.
Starting of with that I'm a Newbie to these Roms and radio will probably get alot of posts with comments like "did you try the search bar, ..". But i'm giving it a go this way
my rom now is 1.56.00.00 and radio 1.27.12.11 - quite old yeah ? Anyway its a NL ( belgian ) radio i presume.
What can i do best to get my tytnt updated to wm 6.1 with a latest radio for my needs.
Does it matter wich rom i take ? is it regio-bounded ? if yes which newest radio file is available for dutch-belgian people ?
2ndly i heard that i need to unlock my phone first before i can flash this new rom on to it. do i lose my warranty on this tytnt then ? or can i backup the system and reinstall it later back if it has to go back for reparation in warranty?
remember im totaly new to this and it would be friendly if someone could give me a descent answer. Thanks
I would also be interested in this, i have HardSPL'd and managed to flash a HTC Asian WM6 ROM + latest Radio, but after 4 hours of reading these forums, cannot find a answer as to what i need to do to get to WM6.1. is it now just a case of flashing a 6.1 ROM?
Cheers,
Check the ROM development forum, there are several ROMs posted there.
You first need to unlock your phone, as it comes it wil not let you flash any ROM
To get Windows Mobile 6.1, just flash any of the many available ROMs, some of them are HTC official ones. The radio depends on the ROM, but basically they are divided between 1.64 or older radios, and 1.65 newer radios.

Check this thread about radios:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375
Yours is new, but it's a WM6 radio
Recent WM 6.1 radios are 1.58.XX.XX, 1.64.XX.XX. or 1.65.XX.XX
Check official HTC and AT&T shipped ROMS here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
Or try any of the cooked ROMS, they come with a lot of stuff preinstalled and different looks.
cheers trying NoThrills WM 6.1 V3 ROM atm, simplicity first
please read kaiser wiki ... its in english
a rom is a rom. As long as it is for your phone it's all the same. You flash the 6.0 the same as the 6.1..
Hey Guys,
I upgraded to the 6.1 solely for the threaded SMS feature. I've noticed though that it's responding a lot slower compared to before the upgrade. I didn't install AT&T bloatware. Another thing I've noticed is that the touch is significantly inaccurate compared to before. Now it's a task to type in a number (using the stock dialer or even a better one). It was much better before the upgrade.
Anyone seem these issues too?
ive been having the same problems. plus my keyboard is really slow and sometimes doent register what i press. have you noticed that about yours?
i had the same issue.
i got rid of it after having that rom for 11hrs ..
i was reading earlier that there was a clean version of that rom floating around.. search and see what u come up with

Yup.. have the exact same problems.. haven't really installed a lot of programs tho.. I'm surprised that updating to 6.1 would have this many problems..
Same problem here after official upgrade for a german kaiser.
Same problemi with italian official ROM.
I try to upgrade to non official rom but there is same problem.

I have the same thing. Just noticed that it's mostly the "h" and "r" keys that miss a key press. Doesn't really make any sense. If I just press them repeatedly, like "rhrhrhrhrhrhrhrh" it comes out like "hrhhhhrhrhhh". Really annoying.
I don't think you mentioned what ROM you are using. There are issues with 6.1 if you have not updated your SPL. Please search out Jockey SPL. Go to the Kaiser Development forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=378, and read in there a bit.
I have been using the ROMeOS ROM, which is 6.1, and have not had any issues at all. There are other good ones in the Kaisder Development forum, too. So you can pick out what you like. You can get a good 6.1 ROM. The issues are not with the ROMs, they are often with either the SPL, the radio, or third party apps. Good luck.

As I mentioned in the first post, I'm using the official/stock ROM from HTC's website..
did you hard reset after install?
Not atreofan released stripped down official att 6.1 and from the looks of it seems to be great, might try it
"As I mentioned in the first post, I'm using the official/stock ROM from HTC's website". Yeah, I guess I missed it in the title, duh.
You might want to check out the rest of my post, though. Maybe something in there that can help out, i.e. SPL, radio version, a different ROM.
Maybe get the stock ROM from XDA rather than the HTC site and try again. What have you done to the phone so far? What version of SPL do you have? What radio?
Not really made any other upgrades. How do I check the versions of each?
From System Device Info ->
ROM version: 3.57.502.2 WWE
ROM date: 7/17/08
Radio version: 1.65.21.18
Protocol Version: 25.88.40.050H
I also use the official htc rom as well as hardspl (used to unlock my phone):
3.28.407 ger
1.65.17.56
25.83.40.02H
I have the same problem also. I actually have to think about typing slower. If I type to fast, the tilt will miss letters.
Interestingly, after I upgraded my Kaiser to 6.1 using the official Orange upgrade, I have the opposite effect.
Everything seems faster (especially typing).
Are you guys using the correct SPL for the ROM version you have? Unilke 6.0 ROMS, it is suppsed to affect performance noticeably in 6.1.
How can I find out which SPL version I have? Which SPL should I be running?

To find out which SPL version you have, hold down the camera button and soft rest. IT will bring you up to the bootloaded screen. The SPL version can be found there. Just soft reset again to get out.
Now regarding, which SPL version you should use, it might be better if you post that qustion in the ROM development thread of the ROM you are using (if cooked). If not, then I'm not sure... Hopefuly someone more knowledgable will hop in and enlighten us
