Hi there .. i wounder how to put android on my s730
Can i have it in swedish language?
Since im a fan of linux .. used most of the distros.
So this is on my want-to-install list
Since linux is 200times better than windows and uses less "****" it would be nice to try out.
And if it doesnt work ill flash mine instead and put the new os 6.1... but i rather get linux working any ideas?

fun to see someone trying linux on a wings
going off on a tangent, not too sure about your language, I have linux server at home and eee laptop, as well as 1 vista PC, 1 vista laptop and 1 XP latop and can tell you that vista is far more advanced and resiliant then linux as a desktop OS.
Windows Mobile is also one of MS's best. Very fast and stripped down, surprisingly still using the NT kernel. An amazing OS invention which is still one of the best HALs, allowing use on any CPU. Linux started as a monolithic kernel and only became component based in version 2 . NT kernel is well ahead.
Meanwhile I love my eee PC 900 on xandros. All OSes, inc. Apple (shock/horror) have their + and - points.
.... end of rant.
do you have a english version of android ?

Linux is still a monolithic kernel today, and it's a design decision.
Based on performance.
HTC Wing / P4350 (Herald) is very similar to HTC Wizard, so on all linux -related
issues one should check the Wizard development.
Its nice that the P4350 wing is similar to the wizard, but this is the S730 wings

Hi guys. I want linux becuse i think it has more thrust than vista..
I tried vista both beta tests and orginal. I absolutly hate it.
Stupid pop-up windows not thrusted computing at all.. no own control.
Anyone who has tried it?
You have tried it and failed apparently. You can shut the whining security off... Tho you defeat vista's way of making your computer "safe".

my god, windows7 is about 70.3 times better than Vista..
You only understand how much vista really sucks after installing w7
Oh so true. I love it
man its not really that great its ok but cant even find the second hard drive on my laptop which both vista and xp can see with no help at all it still has loads o flaws and bugs...
I did notice (for your safety really as it is beta) that windows 7 does not "mount" some hard drives, you have to assign a drive number to them. And other than specific programs not working because they read the OS name/build, everything runs great and I have been running it as my main OS, and have actually had it seem more stable than even vista.
I tested v7 out for w few hrs.. Its BETA. But i guess if you must enjoy MS OS's, it is a step in the better direction then VISTA. Vista is pretty stable for me, but then again my BSD PC has an uptime 300+ days. Ill PAY for an MS OS when i can get a stable long upstanding OS!

Holy ****. What do you do all year? You left your PC on for almost a whole year?
Actually, considering it's not the final release, this is WONDERFUL. it's not even final and it's already better than vista. the drive mounting problem will be solved. the dx11 is better than the dx10.. runs every game faster and smoother..
I finished running consistancy tests on it and it kills vista in every aspect. also notice that file transfer is so much faster that you can't even compare the two.
btw, i love the tray interface
just dumped vista (home prem x64)
god it sucks on my new pc......
will try 7 when RC comes out....will stick with good old xp for now

Hopefully they solve " that " in WM 7.

Acording to this trusted site: http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/01/30/our-next-engineering-milestone.aspx
Dates to launch Windows 7
RC (Release candidate)version: April
RTM (Release to manufacturing)version: August
GA (General availability)version: October
Of course as you mentioned there will be a way to have a fully wroking version before that dates, but not before april, unless is not original...
when vista came out as longhorn for beta/pr checks not many people sent feedbacks.
I don't like microsoft either but they are obviously not trying to screw us up.
I suggest that you send as much feedback as you can concerning problems and annoyances you stumble upon along the way while using the 7k build. there's a send feedback button on the upper right side of every window.
maybe this way we'll at-last get a good, stable and good looking os from microsoft
Win7 on old computer
I don't know if this will help anyone or not but i found this site (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=672) and decided to try and it worked on one of my older machines. This computer is a gateway w/1Ghz processor,512mg. of ram and a 30gig. hard drive. It actually runs better now than it did before.
I can't say i'll be using older computers... but it's great to know that it runs well..

Rubbish.
While we might not be there yet there is no technical reason why this is not achievable. We don't have drivers and specs and the like that are needed to do the job properly YET. There is nothing which fundamentally makes running Android/Linux impossible other than current lack of information.

Drivers and specs? Dude, please learn something about Andriod, its totally different as WM, so with a driver or some tweaks it is impossible to run on a WM phone, you would have to rebuild the whole os which isnt an opperation similar to cooking a rom..
have a read in the android dev forums. I think the SPL is different, but may be wrong. So i don't think it's as simple as just using an nbh (which is a pity).. The g1 is also a HTC device.. some of the guys on the G1 forums would explain exactly whether it was possible or not..
However there is continual development on building android for current devices, including a thread in this very forum.. See Xmoo for details..
Yeah, emulating another up-to-date OS...just think of all the the 15years old gameboy and NES-games that are still slow when they are emulated under Windows Mobile.
The only possibility would be to not emulate Android but boot it instead of Windows Mobile...but I don't think the hardware is built for this so you won't get everything to work as it's meant to be.
By the way...Android is ugly in my opinion.
i think it must be possible.....
cause the Magic has the same chipset like touch HD and so the hardware should be very similar.....
i know a guy who was flashing a symbian OS on an Sony ericsson W810i and it runs..... extremely slow but it runs.
i think the only thing would be the different display resolution...... and some driver things but i have no skills in programmng so dont ask me xD
Err...........
It is possible and even i the case of Vogue CDMA, most functions are working
Diamond and Raphael has managed to boot Android 1.0 and even get the radio working (though no bluetooth, wifi, 3G nor sound yet) so sending SMSs is possible and so is making calls, though you can't hear anything because there is no sound yet.
Blackstone also recently managed to fix the screen issue...
I'm sure there are more projects going on, but it's definitly possible to run Android on WM devices
Well I've got 1.0 booting on the x1.. Unfortunately I havent got the touchscreen working just yet... the onscreen keyboard does, not the screen.
I will work on it when I get a chance, but my linux box is at work, so experimenting is best when I get a chance there.
Screen colours are perfect, the screens still upside down though..
I'm still learning about how this works, but I'm learning quickly..
as to the talk of emulators, this isn't emulation..

jejeej if it has not been achieved in this forum, I think that is not achieved in either ... I think the confusion is not a forum, could be the phone
Windows Mobile can't be ported on the Tattoo. And that's that. End of story.
Don't see why not.
WM on the Tattoo: The sequel..
Its an HTC device and uses mostly the same components as other models.
Porting isn't really what is needed here. Just need to get it to run.
That goes vice versa.
edit:
Ah, you are an Mac user. Then this will be hard
my 2 cents:
If you wanted WM, you should had bought a Touch2.
That's the WM Tattoo cousin, with same specs and all...

Why make Android run on other htc devices?

wm on tattoo == a step backwards in technological advancement
that would be about the worthless thing that could happen to the tattoo
What technological advancement are you referring to..?
If you are referring to the fact that Android is Google,
then please enlighten us what so great that we need to
spare the Tattoo from Windows Mobile..
Developers are indiscriminate when it come to brand.
I have these devices because I love the hardware and we can
do stuff with it. We can develop, experiment, tool them and if done
right, make money on them.
Admire htc for developing these devices for us, not Google, MS or Apple.
Serioulsy, what the **** ?
You have an Open-source firmware on your phone, and you want to remplace it with a closed-source ?
You've a firmware totally independent of any firm, or society, and you want to remplace it with a totally-dependent-of-microsoft-firmware ?
You are root on your phone, and you want to change for a phone on wich you are just a user ?
Seriously !
I think I understand what ebsbow is trying to explain to us. IMO, as long as it is for development purpose only, then I can agree. But I don't feel that WM can be fully implemented on the Tattoo, and don't think it'll be suitable for day-to-day use.
I think ebsbow got a point here. This is a dev site, not a fanboy site which support the back of a specific os just because it is better (according to some). If there is a way to implement windows mobile on the tattoo, then why not? Where is the harm in that? You dont like it, then dont use it. Itll be just a break through.
If you happen to hate a specific os, it is just a personal opinion. Just hold back from clicking on the forum. Xda dev is about development, not about refraining development just because some dont like the direction in which it is pointing.
But for now I think that porting windows mobile to the tattoo is far away. We are still in a very undeveloped stage of getting root. And also, thanks to all the devs who invested their spare time in this, a huge work has been done. Lets just hope that we soon get a stable state of root which doesnt get lost on reboot and that give us true root capabilities.
I don't think the stock Tattoo having root has anything to do with installing a new OS. Then again, I ain't a developer, and I don't know **** about developing WM for an officially unsupported device.
Of course mate. I just meant that the devs have their plate full right now

Okay, I'll release my windows mobile curse and admit that I do have some thoughts into Windows Mobile on the tattoo:
To be honest, Windows Mobile could be ported to the Tattoo/Click. WM could live on a SD Card, and the bootloader (HardSPL?) bootstraps the code from the SDCard to boot the WM environment or have a boot menu saying "Press Left to boot Android 1.6/2.x or right to boot Windows Mobile 5/6/7"
However, you'll face these problems:
1. Driver Support, you'd have to hack WM extensively to get support for phone and related components unless the drivers could be ported from the Touch/Touch2.
2. Not a native WM device. This could lead to Windows Mobile crying it's eyes out when the device crashes. "Mummy, I want my device rebooted". (lol bad joke, but hey )
3. Apps. Would they support the Tattoo's screen res? Parts could be missing off the screen and whatnot.
4. SD Card wear and tear. Could WM burn that MicroSD card up if you use it extensively? Windows can really tear up a SSD HDD if you abuse it, but a MicroSD has a tiny chip that runs the show.
5. Who's gonna support you when your WM/Android hybrid phone blows up and you need a replacement, and HTC rejects it due to "unsupported mods"?
Anyway, that's my few cents. I hope this helps you WM fangirls/fanboys.

Hey all!
I just got a new kaiser, currently am using a clean 6.5 rom.
I've been searching the internet for the past few days because my phone runs programs slowly, the scrolling is laggy (compared to my asus p535 witch is 3 years old). I found out that it has some drivers missing for it to run smoothly, but all the info i found is like two years old like 2008 may or so... I found that 3d drivers are available but the 2d are not yet fixed. Since this information is 2 years old i thought maybe someone can update me slightly? are the drivers fixed now? or will i never have the opportunity to enjoy my new device as a powerfull pocket pc?
Thanks in advance.

No award982, your phone does not sucks!
First the reason for your mobile programs run slowly does not mean that you are needing to change the drivers!
I have a Kaiser and it works very fast! In my experiences with several different versions of ROM, Windows Mobile 6.5 always ran slower than the 6.1!
I do not recommend trying to install any drive other than that already comes in its ROM. You have to find a ROM that works perfectly as you want!
I can recommend you 2 ROM for Kaiser: ( this is what I liked )
WinMo 6.1 (I use this)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545821
WinMo 6.5 (the best 6.5 we've tested)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543276
And remember to use HardSPL and Radio recommended by the chef!
thanks, i feel better now
I am also thinking, maybe android fixes the problem?
And mine doesn't run that slow, its just the bug with the touchscreen is that i cant stand...

You can find a lot of stuff that can help with touchscreen sensitivity and smoother scrolling, just search for it. Try Advanced configuration tool and KaiserTweaks, they got lots of useful tweaks. Dont give up, Kaiser is a great phone, when you set it by your taste, you~ll see!
?????????????????
The Devs are working on this at the moment on some other devices.
It's a Fake! NAND storage is not aviable at Topaz in this moment!
Damn it, I really wish it would be possible already.
As shavenyaknz posted, devs are working on a flashable ROM for Rhodium. Considering the huge similarities between Topaz and Rhod, their work should be easily ported to Topaz when the time comes.
However, right now the project relies on windows to initialize a good deal of stuff so that it would work on Android. So it'll take a lot of work to succeed in making the Kernel initialize everything properly.
HD2 can do it , we can too
Winmo is better
Windows mobile is better than android any day of the week, unless you are at least half retarded. just enjoy the fact that WinMo is built by a talented company and not an overnight internet fad corp and shut the hell up! Anything Android can do, WinMo can do better. ipso facto. end of story.
Uuuh no, that is all based on opinion. Sure, the windows mobile os is cleaner and has other benefits (including, if you have HTC) HTC sense UI, but nowadays, people want a phone that can do anything, and, even you would admit, windows mobile has far fewer apps then Android (official ones at least) and Android is becoming quite common among the smartphone croud. I like microsoft, but even I think they kinda dropped the ball on this one. However, I do think that Windows Phone 7 is a step in the right direction.

The problem on my topaz is, that the data.img gets too big to fit in the phone-storage. I cooked a WM6.1 ROM without any HTC-devices and the there was still not enough space on the device.
Maybe the developers of xdandroid try to change the internal links for data.img to the storage device. This could work
