Title says it all; trying to flash GB bootloader on my cappy, and things got all muckered up. Basically, I'm asking if AT&T will be able to boot the phone in any way, or if they will just give me a new one when I take it to the store tomorrow, no questions asked? Basically I'm just asking you guys how your experiences have been. I'm really good at playing dumb, hell if they discover it's rooted I can just say "I dunno how that got there", but are they easy/hard to deal with?
Thanks,
Just try to say that you woke up this morning and it was off and wouldn't turn on or something. See what they say, like you said, just play dumb. Try not to get a refurb replacement.
The lady that I talked to said it would prolly be a refurb, so I can't really avoid that; I havn't had problems with ATT refurbs in the past, so I'm not too worried about that.
It was funny though, the lady tried to get me to get into their recovery mode and all over the phone; like I knew it wouldn't work, but I played along. Right now, I'm just seeming like a regular college student that just got a smartphone and doesn't know much about them and just knows basic use. Some of that is true, but not all of it
EDIT: And yeah, I just told the lady on the phone that my phone started acting funny so I rebooted it, and then it wouldn't turn on. All I know is, I think I can live without GB bootloaders on the next one...
Has anyone else had any experiences with AT&T?
so i dont own this phone but my brother in law does. its not rooted and totally stock. he has such bad problems with it and doesnt want to flash or root it. i own a photon on sprit and know a ton about android os and the bounty of phones they offer. im just wondering. he wants a new phone because hes sick of this one and has insurance on it. verizon wont help him and i understand why. now im sorry i dont want to fish thru all the fourms to see the new newsso can someone just tell me and then get rid of this thread. if he "breaks" his phone and calls and pays the 100 for the new one will it still be the same phone? or are they out and will he get something else. thanks for your help everyone and long live google!!!!

Verizon doesn't sell new revolutions anymore but they do have refurbished ones that they will push on him. I have seen stories in these forums of people who went to the store and put up enough of a stink about their revolution that they got a different phone. However I think most of them were on their second or third replacement.
yeah iv seen that myself first hand but hes not the kind of guy to make a stink over things. thanks for the help and replay. im talking about asuron (spelling sorry) what would they give? a refurb? or something else?
All depends on the problems really. Usually they'll just give a replacement.
thanks not what he wants to here but we will try thanks for the help man. please mods get rid of this
I went through 3-4 Revos before they sent me a different phone. Good luck with whatever happens.

Verizon does not handle the insurance. Asurion I believe does. They most likely have plenty of Revolutions in stock. What he will most likely get is someones factory reset POS. They don't actually fix the phones you send back. If they boot, they wipe em and re-flash them. they do a few quick tests then in the bin it goes for warranty and insurance replacements.
i never knew of them giving you a different phone, just tell him to root and flash a custom rom and the phone will be better than a new one
Ok so in the past I've always gotten refurb's and was instructed to just send the phone back. Well as we all know the Note 3 comes with a few accessories that are not required to be sent back "battery, backdoor, stylus".. Well I have had one replacement already and it was a refurb that came in the white box and I sent my old one back while retaining my old hardware, no biggie.. Well this time around they sent me a brand new phone (i called and *****ed about 4.4.2 and it's issues) but I'm kind of at a stalemate with the return process.. Do I keep the new battery, backdoor, charger, usb cable, and stylus and just send my old phone by itself back..? That is what the instructions say to do but that would leave me with 2 of everything, and I don't want to get billed for keeping that stuff, but I'd also like to have a backup of everything lol.. I think the instructions think I was sent a refurb but I'm just inquiring to see what others have done in this situation.. Thanks..!!

The same thing happened to me with my Note 1. I called and they told me to keep everything. Made my conscience feel much better.

My conscience is telling me that for the hassle they should just let me keep it since it's pennys to them lol.. But I'll call anyways just because I'd hate to be billed for non compliance or something haha..

All they want back is the phone. Send the phone. Nothing else.

There... I helped by editing your statement. See above.
Anywayz... on a serious note, sometimes that stuff gets misplaced or lost, since they are going to move your broken phone from bench to bench. Or they may just have a box sitting with no name on it... and soon as they get yours they put your name on the box and walla, a replacement.
I used to have a conscience about this kinda stuff but I learned as I got older they have millions of the accessories and would just send you one for the heck of it, if you called and asked nicely. True story... I have done this a lot.

Hey guys,
Totally depressed over here. So I save and save and save and BOOM, Im the proud owner of a Nexus 6. I hit up Swappa because Ive had good dealings with solid dudes there in the past. I got my phone on Friday after work. It was described on Swappa as Mint, and on the exterior it was just that Mint I turned it on with SIM in and ready to fall in love. What I got was a device that everytime the screen times out, or you are done for a minute and hit the power button, if it sits idle for more than 5-10 min its basically dead to the world, google voice, manual hitting the power button, plugging in the charger, NOTHING....The only way, and I mean the ONLY way I can get it to turn back on is to hold the power button for like 20 or 30 seconds and then it turns on. I tried to contact the dude I got it from about it and he just said I am full of S**t and it worked perfect when he sent it to me. He said basically screw you. Took a LOT of hard a** work to save up to get this phone man and It looks like Im hit. Do any of you guys have any clues or a godsent solution to this hell? I need yalls help. Im totally at a loss for why this is happening.

You definitely need to contact swappa and let them know. That should be your first step.

They won't do anything unfortunately. His better option is to go through PayPal.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Go through PayPal and Swappa. And leave a negative review on him. Make sure you keep records of all interactions with him as proof.

Or, you could try flashing the stock firmware. But it will be tedious with the phone acting like that. I'd personally want my money back.
Swappa believe it or not told me, work it out with him. I qued them in on every message I sent him and they just replied well sorry you couldnt work it out. I am actually surprised that as buyer seller protected they shout about over there all they really do is make sure the esn isnt smashed. they dont help resolve issues like this at all. His ad clearly stated no returns unless not as advertised. he advertised mint, so any of you here know exactly what that means. He told me to take a video of the phone actually doing it, and in the next sentence said it was working perfect when he shipped it. Wheres his video to prove that? Even Swappa lets a guy go down in flames huh? This Item is not as described if it locks up. Its not "Functions Flawlessly" as they advertised. sorry this isnt the place for this. It took me a long time to come up with the money he just stole from me
That really sucks man, sorry to hear about your problem. try going into bootloader and like said flashing stock firmware, hopefully that'll fix it.
Mint means perfect. Flash stock, if the same problem exists, its faulty and not mint.
When I sold my first nexus 6, the initial install was all wacky. I assumed it was from using custom Roms and android m on the phone. Flashed a few more times and factory reset and it was good as new.
Same thing happen with note 4 and lg g3 before shipping.

As previously advised, open a PayPal case. "Device Significantly Not As Described". You will get your money back. PayPal nearly always sides with the buyer.
Doing a lot of research, I had heard of people who had glass screen savers that screwed up their proximity sensor. This phone does have one, but I am in a situation where I can't really take it off because let's say it doesn't fix the issue and I do get granted a refund, then I'm screwed because I have to return it the same way I got it.

I don't believe PayPal would deny your claim for removing the screen protector, in an effort to try to solve the problem. IMHO.
Sounds software related. Download and install factory sysimage, then factory wipe, and see how that goes.
Flash another rom or factory most likely should work
hi
Start it in bootloader then select QCOM test that. for me it has been the solution to all errors.

Well i had a proximity issue when i had my screen replaced but flashed back to android version 5.0.1 and the issue is totally gone. Try reverting back to 5.0.1
Thanks everyone for being so helpful. Yesterday I had been hoping and praying for the best. And the screen completely went dark with wierd lines and dots and finally just doesn't come on at all no matter what I do. It's gone. No bringing it back now. Totally bummed. PayPal said they will open a case and it's gonna be like 10 days before anything else happens cause this bum wouldn't refund my money. You guys are really awesome for jumpin out there to help me so much. I'm poor as heck so what sucks is it took me 2 months of saving every penny just to get scammed. Now all I have is my work phone and I'll probably get in trouble for using it for this. Lol life is crappy sometimes. Peace community
eMMC failure... That douche did scam you and he did it hard. Hope you get it sorted.
There is no way this slime ball didnt know what was up with that phone. Too bad too. I just hope I get my money back
Dang I'm sorry this happened to you man, that really sucks from reading this. I hope Paypal sorts everything out for you and you get your money back.

What is eMMC? I don't think I've heard of that. If I cant get my money back I wonder how much it would cost to repair. I'm probably screwed there too. I bet it's more to fix than to buy a different phone. Too bad honesty is like the tooth fairy these days, because I don't think I'll ever buy another used phone and I know there's good ones out there. By the time I save up enough to do that again Nexus 6 will be 100 bucks
So I'm feeling pretty crappy right now. I bought what I thought was a Note 5 but seems to just be a good copy with idk what kind of internals. The processor is a exynos 5410? Anyways so I figured it out a little while after the guy had left when I noticed how bad the S Pen seemed to write though I never had a note before. The phone also seemed a little laggier than I would have expected which also made me suspicious. I should have noticed at the moment when I was checking it out but I was in a bit of rush and distracted. Welp, I won't be making that mistake again.
When I called him first it went to voicemail and then afterwards it was disconnected. I managed to track down the guy and find his facebook, real phone, and address. Is there anything I can do to go about getting my money back? Should I file a police report or something? Anybody ever get their money back in this kind of situation?

Well....your first problem was to buy a phone via Craiglist, but don't want to beat a dead horse here.
I would file a police report but I highly doubt it's gonna take you anywhere.
The other option is to mail a registered letter to this guy's house explaining the situation and telling him that you want your money back before you proceed to the small claim court...once again, how much time and resources are you willing to invest. And then, maybe this clown will claim that was did not know about the phone authenticity which in part it's your fault for not inspecting the phone thoroughly before paying the guy.
Hopefully this suggestions will help you.
Cheers,
