OK, so my company provides everyone with old ass blackberries, but I want to use the Kaiser. I got one, did the corporate email setup, and got BBConnect working. Got a call from tech support saying my device showed up on their end as a Kaiser and its a security risk and i need to go back to using the BB.
We have an exchange server, but its only accessible from within the LAN, or if I VPN in on the laptop and use a hardware security token. Any way to make my device show up as something else, or find a way to push email to my Kaiser without connecting to the VPN and violating the security policy?

wow that sucks, where do you work chinese government?
or probably the Canadian Government, sorry could not resist
OK, I have the program installed on the Kaiser, I have the port 3389 forwarded on my router. For the life of me, I can't figure out why I can't connect to the PC.
I even have the PCs alternate account and password and it's just not working. Someone please help.
you have to enable remote access on your host PC
I have also done that.
Try...
LogMeIn.com
Make sure your data connection on your phone is active before you try to connect.
The RDP client on this site does not seem to initiate the network on it's own.
I use bandswitch to close my idle connection and have to disable it when I try to rdp to home.
Do have something that you can telnet from? If so try telnetting to the PC you are trying to connect to via RDP.
telnet <ip> 3389
That will at least tell you if your PC is listening for rdp connections.
hmm, I tried telnetting myself using absolute telnet. Not exactly sure how to use it, but I entered in my IP address, and the port I have forwarded on my router and it kinda worked, but maybe not.
When I try to connect to 192.168.1.1, it won't connect.
when I try to connect to 192.168.1.101, it connects but does nothing.
I also tried initiating the data connection first, and it still didn't work...
Hmm, any other advice? I'd really like to get this working.

Now, just forwarning I am not very technically enclined about this stuff at all. Not yet anyway. I worked with exactly what you're working with. Trying to get RDP working... I found this article and it is now working for me beautifully. One word of warning, disable your PC's Firewall. I have McAfee and it was stopping the incoming request. Bad thing is we are all wireless, our IP's are changing at the drop of a hat. So if you figure out how to beat that be sure to share. LOL. Here's the link. Good luck!

mmmkay, got it working, kind of...
I was using the wrong ip address, not even realizing it. I was using my router assigned IP address- not the right ip address obviously. For future reference, and also because I have not seen this documented ANYWHERE else, you must use your ISP ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS, and the port forwarded on your router to connect to your desktop.
So, I got connected to my computer and all, great great. Now I need some help tackling my next problem. Apparently, I am not allowed to connect to my alternate account because of some kind of permission problem. I am not in the group RDC or whatever on the remote machine and I must be added manually. OK, sounds easy.... not. How the eff do I do this?
Yes, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I am aware that it came "missing remote". However, I have added the hack, and as far as I understand, I should now be able to RDC to my computer using my mobile...

Having never used vista (yuk, yuk yuk) I don't know where the settings are, but being a fisher price os it should be fairly obvious.
Just add yourself to the remote desktop user group in the users and groups settings. If your account is an admin account you should have RDP access by default I believe
right click my computer, go to properties, click the remote tab. Click the "select remote users" button
I've already tried to things you two just mentioned. However, these options are not there. I think it has something to do with vista home premium...
I'm not sure about how or what you "hacked" to get RDP on your version of Vista, but there is a setting for RDP versions.
Under system properties -> remote tab
There are three options which essentially break down to this:
-Don't allow any RDP
-Allow all RDP (RDP 5 and RDP 6)
-Allow only RDP with NLA (RDP 6)
Vista and updated XP machines can have the RDP 6.0 program. Otherwise most systems are still RDP V5.
I found the allow all RDP (the second option) works well with from my kaiser to my Vista machine.
Hi everybody,
I'm really struggling with the BBC for the Tilt. I would MUCH rather use ActiveSync, but it's against company policy so I'm SOL on that. I'm forced to either buy a Blackberry and give up my Tilt or install BBC. I chose the later.
I've been having problems with it ever since and I've had trouble finding resources to help out (mainly because most people don't use BBC on Tilt).
Here are the problems:
1. BBC often will randomly say "suspended by user" (even though I haven't), which prevents me from getting new messages, and unless I'm always looking to see if the service is running, I'll never know if I'm not getting email or if it suspended itself
2. BBC will just as often randomly say, "blocked - radio in use".
3. I can't get any integration going with the calendar at all. And when I receive calendar/meeting requests, it comes to the Tilt as email messages, not as meeting requests, so I can't accept them and add it to my calendar
Now, the limited amount of information I was able to find suggests that problem #2 may have something to do with interference with ActiveSync. I've tried the technique where I add a fake server source then make the schedule manual, but ActiveSync still won't go away permanently. I use it to access my Tilt files through Windows, so I can't uninstall it altogether. Also, when I tried to uninstall it before, it deleted all of my non-SIM contacts from the Tilt along with it, because all of my contacts were imported from Outlook.
Anybody have any ideas or solutions?
I think these are common issues, especially if you are using the Tilt on AT&T.
1) I'll go days without losing connection to blackberry services then it seems like it will lose it every night for 2 or 3 days. It may be related to activesync or it may be related to network issues. I always check the blackberry icon. If there's a "!" there, I know I need to reconnect.
2) At least with AT&T, you can only have one active data connection. Either it's the blackberry service or it's something else. The something else is active and keeping the blackberry service from connecting.
3) Check your pim options screen and make sure the calendar box is checked. If I remember correctly, when I first installed it was not checked by default. Contacts, tasks and notes are also configured in this screen.
You may have a point about activesync. I always kill it when I can but it auto starts. If I understand correctly, it is checking or setting the network time?

Yeah, that's what I usually have to do, but I hate that I have to do it - it defeats the purpose of push email if you have to always check to see if it's still pushing, lol.
People have recommended uninstalling ActiveSync when using BBC, but I can't possibly see how that's practical because I use ActiveSync to maintain my contacts and to add music and files to my Tilt. Is there some other way of doing this without using ActiveSync?

That's what I've read. But there have been times when I've done a Stop All on all services, and I still got a radio in use message. Strangely, there have been times when both ActiveSync and IE were running and I was able to get BBC running no problem. The inconsistency is maddening because it becomes impossible to isolate and cause and solve it.

Whatever is being maintained by ActiveSync (contacts) is greyed out on my Tilt, but everything else (calendar, notes and tasks) is checked, so I should be OK. But calendard items are still arriving in my inbox as regular email.

Interesting. I thought I was doing something wrong since people swear by that technique as a way to get ActiveSync to go away permanently. But it always comes back for me.
It says "radio in use" when Media.Net is active possibly through a IE or weather type program.
Some of the NEWER ROMS allow dual connections for BBConnect & Media.net. I saw a thread yesterday that showed the precise registry entry to make to allow this without burning a new ROM.
What thread was this? And when you say "newer ROMS" are you referring to official ROMs like the one on the HTC website or the XDA ROMs?
Demigawd,
Make sure the wireless calendar service (cical) is running properly. What version of bbc are you running? I'm running 4.0.0.97. It's behavior is a bit different than previous versions. It seems to block other data connections instead of bb getting blocked.
The only other suggestion I have is to remove and reinstall bbc. I would also have bes sync everything including contacts until you are sure calendaring is running correctly. If it's still not working correctly, maybe check your bes for a non-standard it policy.
I think the registry entry for multiple data apns is volatile and gets overwritten after every soft reset. A custom rom is probably the only way around that.
After about 2hours of using my phone on wifi the exchange sync (built in mail application) doesn't sync anymore (internet itself keeps working). If I then disable en enable wifi, it works again.
I connect to exchange via https (outlook anywhere). Same goes for calendar.
btw, my GMAIL keeps working with no problem. It's just exchange that stops syncing
have you tried restarting the phone?
might be a service that got stuck
yep, doesn't fix it.
I'm gonna test TouchDown to see if it shows the same behaviour
Are you accessing Exchange via "Email for Exchange" or "Corporate"?
what do you mean?
I've made an account on my phone that connects to the 'webmail' of the exchange. Official name is Outlook Anywhere.
noob with similar issue
I'm a relative newbie to this forum so unsure of posting protocol, apologies in advance.
But whatever. I have the att version of the galaxy--the captivate--and have had a hard time getting exchange to work reliably. I've several times deleted and re-created my exchange account, and it will sync initially, and sometimes once or twice thereafter. But then, it ceases working competely, simply saying it has a "connection error".
This happens whether I'm on my company's wi-fi, home wi-fi, or just over the air 3G. the only fix is to recreate the account, and that's a pain.
I had an old winmo HTC fuze for a couple years, and it worked fine with this exchange server--I don't think I ever had to recreate the account, and it was thoroughly reliable. I also borrowed an old G1 for a couple weeks, used Roadsync, and it worked fine too.
I read in another forum that advanced task killer was the culprit, so I deinstalled it. No change. I also read that turning the synchronization on & off from the power widget was worth trying. Also no change.
Any other ideas? I too will try a 3rd party client before returning the phone. I mostly like the phone otherwise, though the GPS problem is annoying.
Appreciate any help.

it sounds like the Wireless or 3G goes into sleep mode when you are not using it.
I have a similar problem, my calendar is able to sync but contacts unable to sync with exchange server.
Virtualization is enabled in BIOS (Dell XPS 13 9350). Not sure where to go from here. Have been searching the web for the past hour.
Any ideas?
Same issue here.
ASUS X99-Deluxe 3.1
Does the host OS windows have internet connection?
you could use adb shell (under the remixemu/platform-tools) and try to ping the gateway and dns to see what happens.

Also came here for a solution to this. My Host PC has internet access. Thought the Player would use the same automatically but it has no internet access.
Let there be networking in Remix OS player!
Same situation here.
Mine can access the internet connection from the PC but the Remix WiFi settings are non-functional. If its set to WiFi Off, I still can access the PC connection, if its set to WiFi On, I cant see any wifi networks. In either setting I cant see any of the nodes on the local network. Maybe thats how its supposed to be for now...
I've alerted our developers about this and they'll be putting this high in their list of issues to fix. I'll update here when there's relevant news. Thanks!

And yes, the host has internet access.
Any News?
I have Lenovo Z470 i3
same issue
So there is still no solution? searched couple of hours until at least to find this thread, that I'm not alone with that.
Edit: Dell Latitude E6430 with i7.
Notebook has Ethernet access to internet via proxy or WiFi connection. Remix OS Player only has WiFi, turned off, can be turned on, but nothing happens.
Same as others above have internet on host and can use through host but is slow and won't turn on on player.
Same here since the beginning on Lenovo G580. I gave my laptop name cause some dit, but looks like more it's no connection for google play and not a problem with the hardware the player is used on. Most of my downloads were possible from web browser/else solution, but I can only remember few download/install/update with google play, except while on the lock-screen, I can see download and updates happening after launching the player.
Hope theses details may help.
Internet is key feature to your soft.
Same here, 1.0.104 build 2016092703 can't have any internet access. The only network option is WiFi, but it had nothing appeared no matter it was turned on or off.
Is there any FAQ about networking? In case if I missed.
Now working since last update.

Sorry. But my connexion is now working for any task from within the player, so I'm at least noticing people to re-download/install. I don't know from where the issue comes, nor if there are more than one with the same result, I'm not a dev.
Plus if it's related, I probably don't own the same computer as you do.
Anyway. Internet is working ^^' (there is an update to Remix Wi-Fi app too. This may be the reason ?)
And like AmoraRei says, remember to modify your antivirus/firewall/windows things rules or to create specific ones for RemixOS. People sometimes fail to catch the notifications about connection prevention, or are just in auto mode so sometimes there are programs that may lack full connection possibilities.
