Hi all im havin real difficulties using activesync on my 8125. Im nowhere near as savvy as most on here, but im pretty close...lol my problem is that after 2 days of trying to get activesync to work i can only get the phone to connect but not syncronize. the phone says attn: required...its telling me to setup my microsoft exchange server, but i dont use that. im just the regular user trying to move files and programs from my pc to my phone! if i can sync with email too that would be good. Also when i dl'ld activesync from th cd that came with the 8125 it also installed outlook 2002, do i have to use that to be compatible with the phone cuz i like outlook express much better? thanks for any help ..
Ooops forgot to mention that when i try to click on somthin in activesync when the phone is connected it crashes my pc!!! ive tried to look in past posts but when i search 5000 posts come up and none pertaining to this problem..
Evening folks,
I have just completed a full clean install of my desktop PC and need to install Activesync, but which one?
As you may have guessed by the fact I'm in this forum, I have an Alpine, a Qtek 2020i to be precise.
Other information that might be helpful for you to give me an informed decision is...
I do have WIFI and bluetooth, and obviously the cradle
I run Exchange 2003, full version, fully updated
I do want to connect to Exchange both at home and on the run for email etc.
Thanks in adavance
Tom
Come on folk, you guys must be connecting you Alpines with Activesync, well unless cups and string have taken over!
If nothing else please let us know your experiences of the different version from 3.8 to 4.2 of Activesync.
Tom
Just upgraded from 3.8 to 4.2 and it kept my partnership so not really any issues there.
Not used it much yet but 4.2 seems alright, no real issues yet.

Morning
Well I opted for 4.2 and certainly the basics are working.
However....
I don't know if you use the sync function for music inside Media Player? I sort of did previously, I couldn't use automatic because I'd need one fo Sanyo's new 8GB MMC for that!
However I can't sync music at all now, says that the device may not recognise the format. I'm wondering if it uses Activesync behind the scenes and that is trying to send a slightly newer version of the WMA format that Media Player in Mobile 5 understands?
Tom
Hi,
Nope sorry never used Media syncing, when I do use a HTC device for playing emdia files I've always used TCPMP and just played the files straight off the SD card.
Could try contacting Micros$ft support - you'd have thunk that they'd include backward compatability, but hey I'm just a C/Perl programmer for a living so what do I know!

trying to find a copy of Activesync 3.8 for Win98
Hi
I have a freind who's machine cant take XP, so still uses win98, but activesync 4.2 wont install this and microsofts site dosnt seem to have it any longer
Can someone upload it for me, so I can get her XDA synced and backed up ?

Active sync and ports
Hi
Slightly off topic here
Just wondering if any of you use active sync and a gps reciever ?
I use my XDA11i daily at work and it is always sync'ed to work lap top .I have been trying out side of work to get a gps reciever to be recognised but no joy and , worst , oftern software says it cant find or open the port?
Any body have this problem ? know of a port manager that works with Win 2003se !!!or a way to see what is connected to each of the ports ?
Ive tried all of the usual things , Beam settings , re booting , compete re install etc but no joy

Hi friends, i'm going to buy diamond, when it's get's available from next friday in India. I have been using only Nokia NSeries phones for past few years. I have backed up my sms since last 5years through Nokia Lifeblog software on to my Laptop.. The HTC Touch Diamond will be my first WM phone..
Is there a facility / Software by which i can archive my sms onto a PC from the diamond? Read in reviews WM / HTC can't do it..
Have liked so many features of WM, but this one is a crutial feature, i would be too glad if we can do it..
Thanks in advance..
I use Jeyo Mobile Extender with Outlook.
Regards,
Chiron
Thanks Chiron83.. I'll Keep that in mind..

You just need to install ActiveSync, or if you run Vista it uses Mobile Device Centre which is already installed.
If that doesn't work maybe you bought a fake!
i have win xp
i dont think its fake, mayby someone open the paket on post office, because the carton its was open.someone steel the cd,i think
you do not get a driver for your diamond. it is not in the package. you do not need a driver for your diamond.
install activesync, or mobile device center. everything should work.
do you get a connection message on your diamond when you connect?
(choose activesync or disk)
"the phone has no inbuild mobile 6.1"
it IS a fake!
look here --> i bet this is your diamond (look at the features and pics)
no win mobile6.1=no active sync!
cant you use the "disk" option?
yes ,it says :choice the folow:
mass storage
webcam
com port
i have win xp with active sync
use "mass storage" , xp should recognize it as a drive in the explorer and you are okay!

can we do something about it?
can i load win mobile 6.1 or what?
or i have to throw it away?
i feel like an idiot now.
what can i do with it?i any chanse to uppload win mobile?
My advice to you is:
Take some pictures of the phone and make sure you have the current phone operating system in the pictures.
That way people on this forum can help you out.
I can see why, looking at the price you paid, the phone appears to be genuine, but as the guys have said on here, its looking like you possibly have a fake.
Posting screen shots of the phone and we can then help you out.
The Diamond can be flashed, but if your phone isnt an original diamond, then I would take it back to where you purchased it and see what they can do.
Good luck
Does it have dual sim slots?
Only the fake J6 has dual sim.

HTC should do something about this. This company copying the phone is one thing but using HTC and putting images of the Diamond on the box can't be legal?
Sounds like you have a fake mate. Send it back and demand a refund - especially at the price you have paid.
Good luck.

Alright, so Ive kinda gotten over the fact that my fingers are way too big for this phone and Ive began to be a little bit more nimble...lol...but I have some questions about windows mobile...this is my first WM device...Im worried that symbian is the only one my brain can work with because I did switch one time a few years ago to the LG Viewty but I never really felt comfortable with it...
So heres my first and probably most important question, how do I get my computer to recognize it? I have Windows Vista...I have googled everything and all I have came up with is that I am suppose to use Windows Mobile Device Center...I downloaded drvupdate-x86 and installed it but nothing happened after the install was complete...when I connect the phone it tries to install the drivers(i guess)but then it says something failed with WM Remote Adapter...I then updated windows and tried it again...nothing still...I have also tried to sync it with wmplayer but still nothing...Any ideas?
Also, in the communications manager what should I turn on? Like if I turn on Edge or Wifi does that mean they will be running all the time? That seems like a waste of battery but at the same time when I get on the internet it doesnt ask me what connection I wanna use...and if I have to go to the connection manager every time before I get on the internet that could get annoying...
How do I turn off the SMS sent notification? its so annoying...
Heres my device info so I can make sure everything is right

As for connection - you connect and disconnect through Comm Manager.
It doesn't turn off by itself what is quite handy if
you rely on constant connection.
Just disconnect when you want to stop it..
Thanks...anybody know of a good, I guess, WM tutorial video for me? lol...I guess I just need to learn the basics or something...
Hi have you loaded the software that came with your phone ? everything that you should need to connect to your pc is on the disc, i think the only other file you might need is if i am right windows net work, there is some instructions in the connect programe to get your setup up and running, i hope this helps i am new to the x1 aswell and i am still learning, only had the phone 2 weeks but liked it so much i bought another one, so i have one on each major network here in New Zealand, also where else can you buy a phone at a decent price and have, a differnt theme on your phone everyday of the week, these cooks are awsome and create some awsome programmes.
there is tons of information here if you cant find it by searching then ask i am sure that no one will bite your head off as most are good guys/gals, i have not had as much fun with anything since my Amiga days, but now i am showing my age lol but what the hell have fun with it and you will only learn by trying and playing with the phone, you can allways return it back original factory settings and you lose nothing apart from your contacts which will be on your sim card and emails will be lost or you can use SPBackup to backup any thing that is important.
i had better shut up as im rambling lol
If you want to connect your phone to your computer using activesync, start up 'Windows Mobile Device Center'
you can do so by going to start > and typing windows mobile device center. The shortcut will show up by itself.

WinMo is so easy. In fact any OS is easy. Just play with your phone and mess with the settings now and then.
Sorry I don't think anyone has answered even one of your questions.
If you keep WiFi on, it is as left on and thus consuming battery life as long as the phone is not sleeping (i.e. screen off), and it is the preferred connection used when there is a WiFi signal available. WiFi will never turn on by itself if left on the off position however.
If you turn off the 3G or EDGE data connection, they will reactivate automatically when needed. It doesn't take much battery life to keep the Internet connection running though, and it is necessary if you are pushing email to your device.
As for Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC), Windows Update will not automatically download the software on its own, and I'm sure the majority of us don't remember the file name of WMDC. So did you download the file you are specifying from this portal? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
